NEVADOS Tequila and Mezcal Lounge

Amazing spot!! We went with a group of friends and ordered family style. We got the Mexican street corn, patacones, two platters of tacos (a feature prawn one, chicken, pork belly x2, beef, and hongos), tamarind ribs (familia size), achiote glazed pork belly bites, papitas, and churros for dessert. The flavours and sauces were all just so good! A few additional comments: - I recommend ordering 1 order of the corn per two people as it’s one cob cut in half. It was delish! - The patacones were my least favourite item but were well enjoyed by the others - the feature prawn taco, pork belly taco, and drunken beef tacos were the overall favourite tacos! - I can’t pick an overall favourite between the pork belly bites, tamarind ribs, corn, and papitas. They were all so good! - great atmosphere inside. Hope to go back to enjoy the lovely patio on a sunny day - I loved my blackberry mocktail and my friends enjoyed the classic lime margarita pitcher. I wish they would add more mocktail options to the menu as it was very limited. And also wish they’d add mojitos! For those of us who don’t like margs, it’s a great alternative. - the sauces with the churros were too runny. Hopefully they can revisit and thicken them just a bit so the sauces stay on the churro better after being dipped

After a 7-hour drive to Fernie, we were excited to dive into the experience at this buzzing hotspot. The ambiance is lively with a super dark and energetic vibe, which some might find a bit loud and chilly—note to self: keep the jackets on! The food, however, stole the show. Every one of the six shareable dishes was exceptionally well done, with the borkbelly bites on a bed of lettuce being an absolute standout. While the drinks were enjoyable, they didn’t quite match the stellar quality of the food, and the price point left a bit to be desired. Service was friendly, though there were moments when things moved a bit slowly—our drinks took about 15 minutes, in contrast to the lightning-fast kitchen. All in all, it’s a great little place with an amazing food menu, and despite a bill close to $200, we’re definitely planning to return the next time we’re in Fernie.

We were greeted by the vibrant and interesting choice of artwork. Definitely conversation pieces. It's a great atmosphere. Service is prompt and friendly. Loved that they had a gf menu. Our orders came out in a timely fashion. The food is so tasty! If we could, we'd order one of everything. 😊

This place is the absolute bomb. Banging food, drinks and service. A gem in a small town! Peak season is busy so we got there early. Thanks front of house for a great experience and tequila suggestions. Shout out to the kitchen for the insanely tasty well presented food! Modern, vibey, snazzy 11/10.

Not our first time but first time in a while. We were there at opening and after a short wait were immediately seated. Service was prompt and we had bevy’s right away. We started with the Tortilla soup which was as good as any we’ve had (we spend a lot, of time in Mexico) which is a huge compliment. It’s a smaller bowl suitable for one but since we were sharing it was perfect for two. We then ordered a seasonal chicken dish in sauce which ended up being over the top delicious. Our server Taylor advised that it’s a longer dish in preparation so we had had Shrimp Cerviche while we waited. When it was all said and done we finished by sharing the Chocotorta, Cheese Cake with Chocolate in a mason jar. It was an amazing meal, our server Taylor was a star and we will be back.

Excellent tequila selection. Tamarind ribs we're off the charts delicious. Meat melted right off the bone. Pork belly taco was a flavor explosion. 100% must eat when coming to Fernie. Desert was fantastic. Flan was as authentic as it gets.

I've attempted to dine at this restaurant twice before and couldn't get a table, but this time I was able to secure one. The front hostess was incredibly nice and friendly. The food was delicious, and the presentation was very appealing. We had a great time at this restaurant and look forward to visiting again.

Loved this spot - quick service and food came out nonstop. Best part was that fresh tropical fruit was included in all the meals we ordered. Market ceviche: 5/5 the mango in here was the best part Chips and guac: 4/5 the guac included fresh tomatoes and onion which is so much better than plain avocado mash. The chips could have used a bit of salt Chicken tacos: 3/5 they were alright but other tacos are better Pork belly tacos: 4/5 the pork belly was slightly dry but overall excellent Mahi mahi taco: 4/5 generous piece of freshly fried mahi mahi

Excellent in every way! Drinks, food, service-all right on target! I'd suggest the tacos over the arepas but it's all good! Street corn is divine!

We came here to celebrate our anniversary as we had seen some good reviews and love Tacos and Margaritas! We were not disappointed! We started off each with a margarita- I had the coconut ginger and it was so tasty! They also do a virgin version too! I have a virgin classic and it was equally delicious. My partner had the mezcalarita and it was also very tasty. They both had a cinnamon sugar rim that I loved! We then had the papas en salsa roja as a starter and loved it! If your a fan of cilantro, garlic aioli and salsa this is a great option! The spuds were perfectly cooked! A little crunchy on the outside but creamy on the inside! From there we each had to try an Arepa, we had never heard of these so it was exciting to try! I had the pork arepa and my hubby the beef. Both were so full Of flavor! Fresh ingredients, overflowing with meat and sauces that pulled it all together! We went on to tacos from there and each tried a few. Between us we had the pork belly, drunken beef, yucantan chicken, Baja pescado, hongos, and the smoked haddock. My favorite was the hongos (mushrooms that are local too!) and my hubby loved the Baja and the drunken beef the most. We did like them all but the chicken was probably our least favorite- a little dry maybe. And although we liked it, we were a bit surprised that the smoked Haddock had cold fish. Still tasty! To finish the delicious food we had to have churros. It's the only dessert we always have to get if we see and we were not disappointed! A large serving- great to share, great value and the dipping sauces were delicious! My hubby also tried the tequila flight and really enjoyed getting to try Mezcal. He loved the smoky flavor! We definitely recommend this place, we sat at the bar and had excellent service with friendly and very knowledgeable staff! A great option for a date night or out with friends! They do have a nice patio too, which could be dangerous on a hot day with their margaritas! Last note, we got there right at opening (5pm on a Tuesday in August) and they had a waiting list by 5:15 or so. Enjoy!

While visiting Fernie, my family and I checked out Nevados and had a wonderful experience! The low lit restaurant was full but we still receive fast, friendly service. Great cocktails, an extensive tequila list and a wide variety of tacos and shareables to try from. Would definitely recommend trying it out!!

We spent the night in Fernie on the first leg of a road trip to Montana, and once again, Yelp came through by suggesting Nevados for supper. We love Mexican food and culture, and Nevada does a great job of presenting food and drink that just feels like Mexico. I started off with a mezcalrita - nice and smokey. It was hard to choose, as they have a huge selection of tequila and mezcal. We shared the pork belly bits as an appetizer - deep-fried chunks of pork belly on mixed greens with a lime/cilantro crema dressing - very tasty. For mains, I had a chicken taco and a beef arepa. Both were tender and tasty, with a nice level of heat. The tortillas were very authentic. My wife had a bbq pork taco and a pork belly taco. She was very impressed. We had the churro bites for dessert, which came with chocolate sauce and a dulce de leche sauce. My only complaints were these - the sauces were a bit runny, and there was a touch too much salt in the churro dough. However, still the best churros I've had outside of Mexico. This is a great place for dinner, and we'll definitely go back.

Great food & drinks!!! Cool vibe! We had the quacamole and chips, 9 tacos, shrimp ceviche, and summer salad. It all was delicious!! A must if you are in Fernie, BC

Wish we would have taken pics but we just dove right into our meals. Excellent food and service! Everything we tried was delicious. Street corn, summer salad, fried pork belly bites, and arepas. It was very filling and we enjoyed sharing different plates.

Honestly, my wallet was the only thing stopping me from ordering one of every single thing on Nevados' menu! Everything was so delicious, but here are a few standouts: Baja pescado taco - the battered fish taco was amazing with some pickled cabbage underneath it. There was this sauce on top, and man alive... if I could just have a jar of that sauce with me at all times, my life would be made. Pork arepa - pulled pork with a generous amount of guacamole, and the corn arepa was also perfect: firm enough to not crumble but soft enough that it provided this beautiful pillow for the meat. Mexican street corn - I love the chili lime seasoning on this! Remember to floss afterwards though! I'll also give an honorable mention to the pineapple jalapeno jam that came with the grilled cornbread, as well as the fact that they had the guava Jarritos soda, which isn't the most common flavor you can find. I ordered 2 tacos, an arepas, cornbread to share, plus a drink, and it came out to about $25. Not bad at all! The vibe/cuisine of the restaurant also kind of reminded me of Cuchillo in Vancouver, and our server was also really friendly. All in all, what a gem located in downtown Fernie, and I hope to be back again!

We have been on a roadtrip without an actual plan and came upon this restaurant. The food here is an 11 on a one to 10 scale. I would make a trip to Fernie BC again just to eat here. The Chilean Corn is a must do!!! Our server was so friendly (Sydney) and seemed proud to serve such fine food. Really amazing!

Wow! Great place. Sat at the bar, quick friendly service. Ordered the 1/2 nachos with beef. She plopped this best in front of me, "that's the 1/2 order!?" She apologized and said she accidentally entered a full order but will only charge me for the half. So winner winner.

We came here on a friend's recommendation and I have to say that the menu left me uninspired but boy was I wrong. They have some some very creative Street tacos that were off the hook and their tamarind short ribs were fantastic. I had the pork belly, pescado and beef tacos. All were excellent -crazy flavor combinations that worked perfectly. Great place!

Pretty good stuff. Get there at 5 or be ready to wait. The usual (decent) selection of local beers, but a great selection of tequilas and mescals. Tacos were tasty. Worth a visit.

I really like this place. The tacos are very yummy! I especially liked the tofu and the jerk chicken. My husband loved the pork belly one as well. The only thing we missed was refried beans mostly because our son would have loved those. Also, it would be nice to have a few options for kids. I didn't want to pay $17 for him to have cheese nachos. So he ended up eating just chips for dinner. Otherwise though, delicious! I like how you can just order one or two tacos.

One of my best meals this year so far. If I could give it 6 stars I would. Food is unique and delicious. Everything was well priced. Great atmosphere. I want to try everything on the menu so I'll have to go back. I would definitely recommend this place.

Tasty food in a nice atmosphere. When food is basically just assembled(tacos, etc.) a bit disappointed it took half a hour to receive. Single patron at bar shouldn't have to wait that long.

Where has this place been all of my life? Guess I should have come to Fernie sooner! This place was fantastic! The atmosphere, decor, music, all perfect! We had the Pao De Queijo for starters, that sauce, wow! Next up we had the Little Havana empanadas, again, awesome. For the actual meal I had little bits of everything, ropa vieja, and a tequila lime taco, my fiancé had the carne y cerveza. We were so impressed! Ended it with the churro bites.

Everything we tried here was awesome. We each ordered a bunch of different tacos and cocktails and desert. If I can remember which ones I'll update, but for now just trust me this place is awesome!

So, super excited to be skiing in Fernie BC and have heard lots about the quaint little downtown scene. Me and my pal from (California) came across a cool little Tapas and Tequila bar as advertised on the building outside. We rolled in at about 6:00pm, and sat at the bar. We were greeted by an employee who asked us if we wanted a food menu and drink menu. We gladly said yes. We proceeded to order a local pint of beer and a shot of Mezcal as they have several to offer. Unfortunately the shot my pal wanted was out of stock. We then ordered another Mezcal and it was great. We then decided to order (2) tacos and an order of chips and salsa from the menu that was presented to us. The bartender then told us, that 'actually only the 3 top appetizers are available at the bar, but if we wanted to take a table and order other food we could'. Of course, we asked why, and they said that when it gets really busy, it is hard to serve food at the bar. I then said, well, it is not busy and can there not be an exception made? The very RUDE server/bartender then said, absolutely no exceptions! We then said, ok, please just bring the chips and salsa. Several minutes later the chips and salsa came, without any napkins or plates etc. We then witnessed 2 separate individuals newly seated at the bar and they were dropped side plates and napkins. Shortly there after, the young lady seated next to us had (3) tacos dropped in front of her???? So.....What is going on? About 10 minutes later the bartender/server then came back to ask if we wanted another drink and we kindly asked for the cheque. When the cheque was presented, we asked why the young lady beside us was served (3) tacos, (based on the no exception rule). The incredibly rude server then said, 'well, you didn't let me finish earlier.....if you are a single diner at the bar, then you can order whatever, but because you are 2 people, you cannot'! I am blown away by this answer.....she shrugged and pretty much gave us a look of, 'get out and I don't need your money'! Needless to say, we will never go back and will let everyone we know how incompetent and absent their staff was. I hope the ownership and or management running this establishment see this post and understand that their staff is saying 'NO TO BUSINESS'! ....by the way we are both in the hospitality business and it is unfortunate because the place appeared to have a good vibe, but the 'checked out staff' is clearly killing it off

We went for dinner and sat on the patio. Had tried the night before but the wait was too long. However, it was worth the wait. We had 4 different items and all were excellent. My wife had one of the ginger margaritas and really enjoyed it. Service was great and we did have to wait a bit this time but worth it!

Nevados is a fantastic addition to the food scene in Fernie! The renovation is gorgeous and the patio and garden will be absolutely amazing when it opens. Portion sizes vary, but they do not skimp on the "expensive parts" like fish and pork. I had the queso fundido and it was plenty filling for dinner, for $12.50. I'm told that the Kootenay ceviche was delightful, but not enough for a meal on its own, and the empanadas were also delicious and would work for a smaller meal. We arrived after a table of 9, so part of our meal was delayed in coming out, hopefully all of this gets sream lined as they work out the start up kinks. The menu focuses on South American food with a twist: they incorporate local ingredients, including elk chorizo and Kootenay trout. All in all, beautiful space, diverse menu, very reasonable prices. Definitely check it out.

Great food and even better service. I was really surprised to see such a great restaurant in a town this size. Even more it was a delightful latin food experience. I will be coming back here again. Give the Coconut Ginger Margarita a try.

WOW! BIG SURPRISE ...At first I was not sure what this restaurant was supposed to be....maybe just another Mexican place.... DO NOT BE MISTAKEN... dont let the humble appearance fool you the food is AMAZING... you just pick a few of the items that appeal to you and they will serve them individually. We chose about 3 each and they are are all very delicious. Desert are fantastic....flan and coconut desert we're chef quality. A small restaurant with a 5 star menu. Ask for assistance if you have never eaten here ..it is quite unique but very worth every dollar. .....Corn bread...mmmm... I travel all over north America and this is on my must return list.

Didn't end up eating here so rating is purely due to their 'policies' that really made us feel unwelcome. - party of 6 - initially ask when first 2 arrive and they say no problem we can get a table - rest of Party arrives and all of a sudden they don't have room for us - we ask if we can split and 4 sit at a table and 2 at the bar - yes can do that except they have a policy that they don't allow that if you're waiting to sit at the same table - so we say we will just split up, great. So we do that only to then find out 5 min later we can't order food at the bar. Would've been helpful if they had told us that. It was 6:30 on a Tuesday after all - what else would we be doing? Needless to say we left to go somewhere that actually wanted our business.

The fish tacos are the best!! Followed by the pork belly tacos. The atmosphere was great, the food was excellent and we went with our 2 daughters and they made cheese arepas for them no problem, anything to accommodate kids. Local beer on tap and service was good. Most of the dishes are almost like tapas like where you have to order a few but is well worthy.

I came with very high expectations. Braved the 45 minute wait. The hostess was incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome. Once we were sat our waitress didn't acknowledge us or arrive for 15 minutes. She was not friendly and made us feel like an annoyance to her shift. The food should have made it all better or so I thought. The Tacos were a confused meld of flavours and the saving grace were regular old nachos to fill our stomachs as everything else was disappointing. I honestly wanted to enjoy this place and I don't understand how it's so highly rated. Maybe it was an off day but I will likely never return as the service was awful.

Stumbled upon this place before our dinner reservations! This is a great spot for a drink! The atmosphere was very inviting and the servers/bartenders were very friendly. We loved their outdoor serving window! We will be back :)

Incredible food, drink, and atmosphere. Music could be slightly quieter, but the amazing food more than makes up for it.

What a terrible experience! We walked in at 7:30pm and were told it would be 20 minutes. We watched table, after table, after table be seated before us. Supposedly each had been waiting before us. Though they came in from the outside! Nor was their room at the bar, two of our group had to stand, well a good portion of the bar was taken up with service dishes, etc. So 2 of our members had to stand. After an hour and 15 minutes we finally inquired if you were going to get a table. We were told it was still coming. This restaurant has a badly designed layout, and doesn't take reservations! Ultimately we went next door to Northern & had a good meal. Stay away, unless you just want a painful experience.

This is the best hidden treasure of fernie. Fernie itself is not too exciting but eating here made the stop worth it. I honestly have no complaints. They serve Mexican food in a rustic ambiance. Loved their tamales, their soup, drinks, tacos, everything, nothing was too spicy for me to eat (which I've experienced in other Mexican restaurants). They do serve small portions, so expect to order more than one dish if you're starving.

One of the coolest restaurants and menus. Awesome food, lived the tequila menu and the ambiance is phenomenal. Highly recommend this place when in Fernie!

This is a terrific restaurant with fun friendly service. Margs are to die for. Love the patio space on a warm summer night. Dodd was very good. Every dish was delicious including the tortilla soup.

Great food, great patio and the staff are super friendly and efficient. I love the decor and the fact that they put jugs of water on the table when you get there.

Wow! Let me say that again... WOW! Unique food and drink menu, great service, nice atmosphere and reasonable prices. What more can you ask for? Ribs were soooo good, and the coconut margarita was tasty. A definite dinner winner!

All the tacos here are amazing! We ordered the jerk chicken, fish (my favourite) and the grass roots tacos. All were great! The tamarind ribs were melt off the bone good. For dessert the tres leches cake was a perfect end to the meal. The corn bread was ok and the featured appetizer (corn fritters) were a little bland. The service was great. For tacos the price seems fairly high but we definitely return.

Probably one of the worst experiences of my life . Just another reason to never spend your money in fernie except for groceries to make your own food . Took our name and told us it would only be an hour and 30 min wait . Waited for over 3 hours to be told the kitchen is closed. Not sure how an establishment like this continues to stay open

From my limited time in Fernie, this is by far the best patio on the main drag, as it isn't on the street, as many other businesses have done (which is great but not like Nevados!) There is even a place to park your bike off street, which is good because after you sample some of their amazing drink offerings, you won't be driving a vehicle! Sample anything traditionally from South America and the Ginger Beef Caesar, which my sister says comes with a snack (beef jersey and pickled asparagus) and pays homage to the previous restaurant, which was a Chinese place called, you guessed it, The Ginger Beef. Clever and respectful! Now the food! It is traditional with a twist. Most of the menu is meant for sharing, like Spanish tapas. It rivals the likes of La Mezcaleria on Commercial Drive in Vancouver! And it should, one of the owners is Columbian, or so I'm told. We shared almost the entire front page menu, all excellent in their own right but sharing makes food taste amazing and the atmosphere definitely helped! When in Fernie, go here. Check the hours before just showing up.

Amazing! Fresh Mexican full of flavors. Made from scratch and simply outstanding. The Tortilla Soup is phenomenal and the tacos outstanding. Nice ambience and great service. A great spot in Fernie.
