Nevsky Eastern European restaurant

We had a really nice evening at Nevsky – Restaurant with a great selection of vibrant dishes. We started with Olivier salad, beetroot salad, chicken piroshki and pickled vegetables (solenya). The salads were fresh and the perfect way to start. The chicken piroshki were very warm with a soft, savoury filling, enjoyed with honey vodka. For mains, the chicken tabaka had classic garlic and herb flavours. The chicken pelmeni were warm and comforting. Dessert was Russian cream dessert with berry coulis. We finished with warm tea and raspberry preserve, entire time we felt relaxed and really enjoyed our time there, We’ll definitely return!

We had the most beautiful and entertaining Valentine’s night at Nevsky Restaurant ❤️ The décor was elegant and romantic, and the live music created such a warm and vibrant atmosphere. The food was absolutely amazing – full credit to the chef! Every dish was generous and beautifully presented. After the second course, we were already so full that we could hardly finish our mains! The staff kindly packed all the remaining food for us to take home. For just $79 per person, including complimentary wine, live music, and a full multi-course menu, it was incredibly reasonable and great value for money. There was more than enough food for everyone. I specifically mentioned that I love dumplings, and the staff were so pleased to offer us a few extra hot entrées as well. What service! They continuously checked every table to make sure everyone was comfortable and didn’t need anything. We’re truly grateful to have such a beautiful Eastern European restaurant in Melbourne offering authentic flavours, delicious food, and wonderful hospitality. Highly recommended for a special night out!

We received very special services for our very special guest visited yesterday for lunch. The food was fantastic and each individual has its own mouth watering taste which we did not have before. Every pickle, every salad , different taste to each other. That is the beauty of it.

Dessert continues the high standard: the Russian cream with strawberries Romanoff is light, indulgent, and a perfect way to finish the meal. Service is friendly and attentive, with knowledgeable recommendations that enhance the dining experience and make guests feel genuinely welcome. The atmosphere blends warm, old‑world charm with a relaxed, inviting vibe. Nevsky offers an authentic and memorable taste of Russia and Eastern Europe, delivering both comfort and refinement in every dish.

Dining at Nevsky was an absolute delight! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a real Eastern European charm. The staff were so friendly and attentive, making the whole evening enjoyable from start to finish. The food was simply fantastic — the borscht was hearty and flavorful, the pelmeni were soft and delicious, and the mains were cooked with so much care. Portion sizes were generous and beautifully presented. It’s rare to find such authentic dishes in Melbourne, and Nevsky truly delivers. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a genuine taste of Russian and Eastern European cuisine!

Very tasty! Strongly recommend if you are a meat lover :) Only drawback is the carbohydrate options are limited.

I brought my family to Nevsky to try Russian food for the first time and left very disappointed. Most of the food was reheated in the microwave and not fresh — only the dumplings and pelmeni tasted good and cooked fresh. The pilaf was dry and VERY sad looking, like it’s at least 2 days old and has been reheated many times. Cost - $36 for a portion. The chicken tabaka ($49 for the plate) was bland, just rubbed with spices on top, not marinated, and clearly first boiled and then fried, and then again REHEATED. Nobody touched it. The khachapuri were oily, not fresh either, and even burnt. My family vomited at night after dinner here. Service was very poor, waitresses - inexperienced. Lots of mistakes, we had to keep reminding staff of our order, and later found we were overcharged for an extra cocktail. The bill came to $290 for food that was overpriced and INEDIBLE. Never stepping foot here again. Don’t waste your time and money, and don’t ruin your appetite!!

Fantastic food and service! Every dish was full of flavour and beautifully presented. Nevsky is a true gem in Elsternwick — we’ll definitely be back!

I recently had the utmost pleasure of attending my cousins 40th birthday celebration at Nevsky. Huge banquets are customary for Russian birthdays, so I've been to quite a few in my life. Never have I experienced this level of culinary excellence, customer service, and just down to earth friendliness at a Russian establishment. To start off, the food is out of this world. Beef piroshki, sliced meats, salads, pickled vegetables, king prawns, salmon, blinchiki with red caviar and so much more. Did I mention that was just to start out? Beef blinchiki, fricassee, salmon and prawn cutlets, and GRILLED QUAIL ON TOP OF LAMB CHOPS. My mind was blown. There were even more dishes that I probably forgot to mention, but the last stood out the most. It was just all phenomenally prepared and left me reaching for more to the point where I had to force it down. Don't even get me started on dessert. For drinks, your selection is almost endless. Shots of Russian Standard were flowing nonstop that night. They stock 16 more vodka varieties in addition to that, including my favorite Belvedere. The beer is outstanding as well, with Baltika #3,4,7, the fantastic Nevskoye Classic Ale, and some other more common brands. They feature a nice bar area downstairs where they'll whip up cocktails to your liking as well. Ilya and his crew worked tirelessly to make the night a success. All requests were fulfilled with the highest level of efficiency and professionalism. The entire staff here is extremely friendly and approachable. Ilya runs a wonderful business and I commend him for his work. It was a pleasure sharing one last vodka shot of the night with him. Whether it's a banquet or a dinner for two, Nevsky is the place to go for outstanding Russian food and phenomenal service. If you come here and don't have a shot of vodka, though, you'll be missing out.
