I recently had the utmost pleasure of attending my cousins 40th birthday celebration at Nevsky. Huge banquets are customary for Russian birthdays, so I've been to quite a few in my life. Never have I experienced this level of culinary excellence, customer service, and just down to earth friendliness at a Russian establishment.
To start off, the food is out of this world. Beef piroshki, sliced meats, salads, pickled vegetables, king prawns, salmon, blinchiki with red caviar and so much more. Did I mention that was just to start out? Beef blinchiki, fricassee, salmon and prawn cutlets, and GRILLED QUAIL ON TOP OF LAMB CHOPS. My mind was blown. There were even more dishes that I probably forgot to mention, but the last stood out the most. It was just all phenomenally prepared and left me reaching for more to the point where I had to force it down. Don't even get me started on dessert.
For drinks, your selection is almost endless. Shots of Russian Standard were flowing nonstop that night. They stock 16 more vodka varieties in addition to that, including my favorite Belvedere. The beer is outstanding as well, with Baltika #3,4,7, the fantastic Nevskoye Classic Ale, and some other more common brands. They feature a nice bar area downstairs where they'll whip up cocktails to your liking as well.
Ilya and his crew worked tirelessly to make the night a success. All requests were fulfilled with the highest level of efficiency and professionalism. The entire staff here is extremely friendly and approachable. Ilya runs a wonderful business and I commend him for his work. It was a pleasure sharing one last vodka shot of the night with him.
Whether it's a banquet or a dinner for two, Nevsky is the place to go for outstanding Russian food and phenomenal service. If you come here and don't have a shot of vodka, though, you'll be missing out.
