DISAPPOINTING experience at this Restuarant. They deserve only 0 stars !!!!! But no option here.. We sat in and ordered 1 main and also 3 other items plus 1 drink from the menu (which was adding up to near the cost of another main dish) They said they can’t serve us as it’s mandatory to order 2 mains at least inspite of us mentioning that we have ordered 5 items from the menu. They have written this rule of ‘minimum one main per customer’ in very small font below in the menu pages. How can a restaurant decide who eats how much and what a way to loot innocent customers !! Such rude imposing waiters and service…

We found this place on Google and decided to give it a try and we r glad we did. Little family owned & operated restaurant. Loved the decorations and the ambient. The food was delicious, colorful and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend, we will definitely be back!!

Small and lively place. It can get very full so make sure you book a table. Also it is a bit loud and you sit very close to everyone. However the food is delicious and the portions are just the right size. Food is also served fast. This is not the best place for kids or babies as it is cramped. They can serve alcohol.

Wonderful food and fantastic interior. It was a joy to eat here. I really admire what they have done with the interiors. And the food was delightful.

New Anarkali has offered Indian food at Grunerløkka for many years. Nevertheless, most things are the same as before - neither worse nor better. The premises appear worn, but cosy. The staff are pleasant and welcoming. Was alone in the restaurant, but still had to wait a LONG time for the food. No papadums and raita, which you often get at other Indian restaurants. This must be ordered - and is of the cheap type. No surprises in the main courses - pretty standard. Tastes good - but nothing special. The nan breads, on the other hand, are very good!. Slightly above normal price.

Good food and good service. Polite staff. You have to order one main dish per person. Because it's a rule of restaurant and quantity also says the same. Place is congested and on Saturday you will get waiting queue.

Yelp
Beer selection was only indian beer. Not great. I asked for the spiciest thing on the menu and specifically asked for them to make it very spicy. The Lamb Vindaloo was very good, but not spicy. After the meal the waiter told me it was a 4.5/6 spicy level. Unfortunately when someone asks for very spicy perhaps ask the customer which level of spicy. I'm leaving disappointed and unfortunately will not be able to return anytime soon.

Yelp
As an Indian, there's something I can tell you, must try. Must come back. I've been to the few others in vicinity, but this is the only authentic Indian restaurant. To start with, the pappadum could have been roasted instead of being fried (it's eaten roasted in North India, fried in South. But this is a North Indian restaurant). The starters are always a raw deal in most Indian restaurants in Europe (except UK). This was no exception, very few choices and just about decent. But hang on a second, main course, that's why you come to an Indian restaurant and boy this scores! Tell them your choice of slight to extremely spicy (as I did) and it was just perfect. I had 3 outings and all very excellent. The rice was well cooked, naan was excellent. Curries were superb. It's on the main street, relatively small. Prams can be a little problem. Best in Oslo, easily.

Yelp
The food is very good but the wait for take-away was way too long. We came in at the time when the food was supposed to br ready, but had to wait for another 20 minutes, and the staff just kept on saying: "just two minutes more". Four stars for for the food. But a lot less for the service.

Yelp
Excellent indian food -- comparable to or better than the indian food we have in New York City. A good place to stop for dinner if you're exploring Grunnerlokka.

Yelp
Total disappointment. I virtually live on Indian food; this was about as Indian as the Norwegian royal family. Curry was bland and oily; the fish used in it was a little over-oily and the nan bread, made with wholemeal four it seemed, was just lacking character. Oslo is no haven for good Indian restaurants - I have tried most of them - but this one is nowhere near the top of the list.
