New Dungeon Ghyll - Langdale

First time here and loved the location, amenities at the hotel and spacious grounds. Great base for walking.|Nice choices for breakfast but no frills. Happy with the food. Very entertaining waiter, from Eastern Europe we think. Curt and very efficient to the point of comedy. Had a good laugh with some of the other guests at breakfast over their experience with him. Don't let him go, he's a great feature.

We’ve just had the most incredible weekend at the New Dungeon Ghyll, the views are incredible, the food is great but the biggest standout is the team. Everyone in our party commented on how attentive and friendly everyone was. The rooms are starting to show their age, and the place could probably benefit from a bit of “head office” investment, but with the team they have managing the venue they have the potential to be one of the best hotels in the lakes.

We had the most wonderful long weekend here! From the moment we arrived, the setting took our breath away — a beautiful waterfall (gyll) directly from the hotel and sheep dotting every fell around us. It truly felt like a peaceful escape into nature. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly — nothing was too much trouble. It’s also a genuinely dog-friendly place, which made our stay even more special. Our mornings started perfectly sat on the terrace. Although the wasps were a bit annoying, but can’t be helped! Yes, the rooms are a little dated, but they were cosy, clean, and absolutely ideal for kicking off our walking boots after a day on the trails. We even spent a lovely evening in the drawing room with a few drinks brought right to us — such a nice touch! Thank you for a brilliant stay. We’re already planning our next visit!

Just spent two nights at the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel. This is the second time we have stayed. Room was good, service very friendly staff. Stayed several times over the years at the NDG, welcome always friendly, rooms functional with views of the Langdale hills. Never been disappointed by the food, especially the breakfasts, just what you need before walking the Langdale fells. Special mention to staff members Diane and Nigel without whom the hotel would not function as well as it does.

Excellent spot in the Langdale valley. Spectacular views and right walking trails from the door step, better still you return straight into the Pub! Adam was very accommodating and welcoming throughout our stay.

This was my second visit here, much improved from my previous visit. Although they were obviously short staffed, they looked like they knew what was going on and had everything under control all whilst being friendly and welcoming. The local village event was happening at the time of our visit, so can only imagine how busy they were, but staff handled it well. The hotel itself could do with a little TLC, but the atmosphere was thanks to staff and other guests was spot on An ideal location for visiting some beautiful areas Hotel in a stunning location

Stayed in the bunkhouse opposite but had food and drinks here over a couple of days. Great staff very accommodating food and drinks good value. Evening meal was fantastic.Great location and views. Even though we weren’t staying we were made to feel like guests - will definitely go back.
