Great location and helpful staff. Rooms average but clean. We have visited this hotel many times, returning year after year, but sadly since Redcat took over management, standards are not what they used to be. We have returned a couple of times recently in the hope that things would improve but sadly they have declined even more. Previous customers have reported maintenance issues and staffing problems which were all evident.|On our arrival we were informed that there was a reduced menu as they ‘have been busy and run out of some items’. The menu was very limited but we did receive a meal. Not so on the second night. There was even less choice but we ordered a starter and roast beef. Over an hour passed with no sign of any food. After enquiring we were told that there was no beef and that the chef was refusing to take any more orders even though it was before 9.00pm. Other customers in the restaurant had the same experience, the one and only waitress, who remained very calm and apologetic, was at her wits end. We eventually received a starter and a dessert, after an hour and a half, but no main meal was forthcoming.|The decline of this hotel is very sad and disappointing, and would be much worse if it wasn’t for Diane holding things together. Really sad that we will not be returning – enough is enough.
