Google
Stopped in when visiting Salem and it was a great decision! The employee recommended mixing the chicken vegetable and the Greek lemon orzo and it was a tasty combo! The egg noodles were small and pillowy. Definitely check it out here!

Google
So delicious! I had the New England clam and corn chowder. Amazing flavour and texture — the clams were so fresh! Would definitely come back :)

Google
We found this little place while walking through town. The food - we got the New England Clam Chowder - was delicious! Would highly recommend trying it. The selection looked very appetizing. The service was just ok. The woman behind the counter was rather short with us and did not seem like she wanted to be there. I totally understand that everyone can have bad days, but first impressions are important. The place was very clean and quaint.

Google
This place was amazing. For like 20 bucks I had a great soup (Lobster Newberg), a really good sandwich (Little Italy), a soda and dessert. The guy was super nice, the food was prepared immediately, and the place was almost empty so there was no wait. If you like New England soup I cannot recommend this place enough. Just order what I ordered, you can't go wrong.

Google
I really wish I paid more attention to the latest reviews before ordering. This has to be the worst wrap I’ve ever had. It has zero taste, not sure how else to describe it. The chicken noodle soup is average, at best. I unfortunately also ordered the “home made” Mac and cheese as well - it can compete with the wrap, close second I would say. It should be illegal to sell this type of food. Stay away as far as you can, that would be my recommendation.

Google
Delicious soups! They were great with free samples and very friendly overall. I would HIGHLY recommend!!

Google
Incredible little local spot. Maybe the best lunch in town under ten bucks. The lobster newburg was rich, perfectly spiced, great for a rainy afternoon.

Google
Not the best. My family and I went in for 3 bowls of soup , which was mediocre… not very filling. My sister got the “Mac n cheese” which was egg noodles and cheese… and half a wrap. The Mac n cheese was microwaved and it was $6 dollars for a scoop and a half. She also had half a wrap which came out to be a total of $13 dollars including the Mac n cheese. Ridiculous for just a scoop of Mac n cheese and half a wrap. I had gotten the Italian beef stew. It was very good so I recommend getting that if you do come here. A bowl and a side of bread (doesn’t even come with a side of butter) is $11.50… my mother had gotten the chicken noodle soup and not only was it mediocre. It had the same egg noodles as the Mac n cheese and barely had CHICKEN in it… my sister and I had gotten two iced teas for $8 dollars. So it came out to be a total of $57 dollars… the prices are ridiculous and the soup is good but it’s not $57 dollars good. I would recommend spending your money else where.

Yelp
Had a quick lunch in Salem and came here for the first time! Was welcomed by the employee (maybe owner) and he welcomed us. He then asked us if we are first timers and talked about the menu. I was between a roll up and a sandwich and he was kind to explain them both. I got an "Italian" sandwich, forgot what it was called. My friend got the potato pancakes, which they warmed up from the fridge. We enjoyed both of them! The dressing/ oil that came on the sandwich was great. I saw they do soup tastings which is cool. I will forsure be back to try some soup!!

Yelp
Great soup location in the heart of Salem! We were craving a nice hot bowl of soup that was reasonably priced and got just that. It's a bit challenging to enter with a stroller FYI, but once you're in there's ample seating to park it alongside the tables. The ambiance is definitely down to earth and no frills. The soup was served to us immediately and it tasted great. I got the clam + corn chowder and my husband got the lobster newburg. We both ordered the small and found it to be a hearty portion (it included a nice piece of bread). Will definitely stop by again if we're ever in town!

Lucy C.

Yelp
Spicy Tomato and Red Lentil (vegan) was spiced and flavorful the bread square was hard on outside and soft on inside. Ate in with a friend ended up bringing quart home, Loved it that much.

Joe R.

Yelp
This place was great for a quick lunch. Walk in order and eat. Good soup. It's a small shop but the service is quick and the flavor is remarkable.

Brittany T.

Yelp
We wanted a quick bite and came here for that. It was in fact quick but the sandwiches are pre-made and their "soft bread" as advertised tasted so old and stale. I didn't want olives on my sandwhich but they couldn't make one without them. My friends had their soup and said it was good fortunately but I couldn't speak to it. Would not return or recommend

Jamie L.

Yelp
Delicious New England clam chowder with bread. The staff was very friendly too! Parking was rough to find, but worth it!

A C.

Yelp
So freaking good. I love their clam chowder. By far the best, both in terms of tastiness and price. They always serve it hot and fresh. Every time I'm in the area, I always make an effort to stop by this place.

Yelp
Sad. I ordered from here expecting a nice hearty meal but was instead provided with a pathetic sandwich and an even more pathetic salad. For the prices I thought I would be getting bigger servings. I thought wrong. I've honestly had better premade sandwiches from the off-brand 7/11s inside of airports. I would've been more satisfied had I went to Dunkin' Donuts at 3 pm and bought 3 stale doughnuts that had been sitting out since 7 in the morning. I would've enjoyed Walmart Subway more than this. My sandwich consisted of 3 paltry little rolled up slices of ham, a meager slice of cheddar cheese and some lettuce. These people don't even think you're good enough for an entire slice of cheese. It was like. A third of a slice of cheese. Just a slim piece you'd get from a charcuterie board at a holiday work party that would make you consider quitting on the spot. The actual size of the sandwich left me gobsmacked. Smaller than my hand - which is quite tiny to begin with. This sandwich couldn't even feed a family of four mice. They'd leave hungry and disgruntled. The salad was whatever, considering I don't think its even possible to mess up a salad. It was just equally pathetically sized for the price. A couple pieces of lettuce were rotten so I played Russian roulette while eating it. Maybe I'll wake up sick tomorrow. Who knows. Anyways I ordered this as delivery because I had a cold and didn't want to cook but I think it made me sicker. Giving it 2 stars cause at least the delivery was quick. I'm still hungry.

Yelp
The best soup ever! Homemade amazing soups from a wonderful family! I have been buying soup and other foods from this family for over 28 years-starting at their former Brookline location when I was pregnant with my son. If you haven't tries it--it's a must! My favorites Hot and Sour Grandma Florrie's chicken Soup(Only available around Jewish Holidays) But I love them all!!

Jonathan D.

Yelp
This place is incredible. Great Soup, customer service, and all in a nice cute little shop. I highly recommend

Shannon J.

Yelp
They had really delicious soup. Chicken pot pie soup was really good and so what the chili con carne. The staff was very nice and we were able to taste before ordering to help us decide.

Owen R.

Yelp
Pricey for two soups. But quality home made style soups. Owner yelling at staff. Hmmm On to the next city.

Diana C.

Yelp
The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was excellent! Lots of great soups to choose from! We will be back.

Deena B.

Yelp
This is NOT the same New England Soup Factory as the one in Newton MA. The samples that they are known for are a joke here (ridiculously small portion within a thimble of a plastic cup). Not even close to the variety either. The atmosphere is lacking and the service isn't the same either. The soups are NOT the same and the sandwiches are absolutely disgusting. Avoid at all costs. It was so bad I want to drive an hour to Newton to the real location to redeem my taste buds. I'm heard this location is the one franchise location and since they opened it they stopped franchises....I see why! It's an embarrassment to the real deal location.

Martin V.

Yelp
The chili con carne was all right. The Grilled Chicken Avocado Wrap was pretty close to gas station quality so I'm not trying that one again anytime soon. I would say this would be a quick option for food, but the line was to the door and not moving because the store manager couldn't figure out how to manage the store's online orders.

Joe L.

Yelp
I paid $6.44 for a tiny puck of cold inedible Mac and cheese via Uber Eats. This tiny salad was $10.44 and was edible. The rest of the meal was ok, kind of underwhelming. The "chili" was soupy and lacked flavor but had spice. we have to toss much of it and order from elsewhere. Sorry to be so negative but I recommend others steer clear.

Kristin B.

Yelp
Fantastic spot for some soup on a chilly, cold day. Very welcoming and lots of selections. You can sample a soup before purchasing as well.

Isabel B.

Yelp
Oh my god I love soup. So when we saw this, we had to get soup! My friend had the Hearty Vegetable, and it was great! I had the Clam and Corn Chowder, it was great! I also had one of their pickles. It's very fresh and crunchy. Cute little place, fun music, and good service. Definitely come by some some tasty soups.

Kim J.

Yelp
ALWAYS good food here. The dine in area is small, but the soups make up for it. There are gluten free options.

Brian M.

Yelp
Great service, friendly and helpful. LOVED my soup. Also had a cranberry bleu cheese salad that was amazing, it has the freshest cranberries I have ever tasted, not dried up and old. The place is clean, has a restroom, and is just what you need for lunch. I'd go again for sure.

Amanda B.

Yelp
I always love the soups here. They let you taste test them before you have to order which is very nice. If I didn't get to taste test I would have never tried their delicious split pea soup. The chicken noodle could have used less broth and more stuff but it was still delicious. The service is very nice and prompt. When I ended up waiting a minute for someone to come out of the back they apologized to be sincerely, even though I was clearly still looking at the menu which was very kind. The seating area is small but nice and the whole front wall is windows so it doesn't feel as small as it is when you are inside the store.

Cindy W.

Yelp
Came in on a cold December night before our walking tour. Inside the incredibly steamy windows, you're greeted with the warmth of soup and bread. We weren't terribly hungry and just wanted something to warm up with. I tried a small bowl of their clam and corn chowder soup and my husband tried their chicken noodle soup. Each soup came with a little ciabatta roll to use for dipping. Both of our soups were delicious and best of all, not overly salted like other soups we've had. I only wish this place was closer but unfortunately, we're out of town. Definitely recommend stopping at this place!

Kiera T.

Yelp
Quick and easy place to get your soup fix. Perfect for a chilly day visiting Salem! The clam and corn chowder was delicious, though a little on the salty side. Staff was very patient, introduced us to all the options, and handed out lots of samples. Would come again!

Erick G.

Yelp
I'm so mad that I didn't believe the hype sooner. I've been living in Salem for five months and once a week someone would ask if I tried this place yet. I waited WAY too long. This is the best soup I've ever had in my life. Like, it's absurd. This absolutely dunks on my mother's homemade soup, which is my previous favorite. I'm sorry to her, but New England Soup Factory is my mother now. I haven't even left the table here yet, I'm reviewing between spoonfuls. Witchcraft. Someone sold their soul to make soup this good. Wasn't there an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark about some soup made from people's nightmares or something, and it's so good people flock to get it? I can only assume that was a documentary about this place.

Cathy E.

Yelp
We have decided we love New England Clam Chowder and ordered that soup. The New England Clam Chowder was excellent. We also ordered creamy lobster bisque and it was really good as well. The soup came with two pieces of bread rolls that were really good as well. My husband went in and ordered Sinai did not see the inside and we ate outside.

Pisei S.

Yelp
Was here looking for some good Boston 's chowdah. The claim chowder was alright. $10 for a 16 ounce soup and 2 bread.

Julie T.

Yelp
We had soups and salad. The lobster soup is very tasty with a bit of a kick. My friend had chicken noodle soup that was savory. Location is nice and walking distance to many attractions. Clean cafe, with nice fresh ingredients in the soups and salads. I would

Christopher C.

Yelp
The food is fantastic but I've never been spoken to so rudely. We ordered Chicken Noodle and Chili Con Carne in the past which is great! May just be a glitch with the person I spoke to but had to cancel my last order.

Mariana M.

Yelp
The chilly weather made me crave soup and figured clam chowder was a must. Their clam chowder was delicious, had not had good clam chowder so I was happy to have found this place. I had never had clam chowder with corn in it but I really enjoyed it.

Emma J.

Yelp
Any place that serves bread with soup is a win. I love the way they have the sizes set up with the amount of bread you get. I tried the vegetable chicken soup with noodles and it was delicious! The roll was yummy and fresh as well. Small interior (as most places in Salem) but there was a good amount of seating. Definitely a nice place to stop when it's raining FYI for those who always need to use the bathroom...there is a little bucket with a key to the bathroom.

Courtney N.

Yelp
I go here quite frequently and I have to say their chicken veggie noodle soup is all sorts of amazing. First off, they use a lot of dill and I love it. Most places don't include dill but it works so well with the broth and noodles. Secondly, extra noodles really means extra noodles - they give you a ton. I usually split it with my dining partner so I always get a quart and it's always gone in no time. You have your choice of white or wheat bread or crackers and you can always request a free sample. If you crave soup then this is the place you need to head to asap!

Tim F.

Yelp
Was in Salem and craving soup, so stumbled upon this place. It was the middle of winter and nothing sounded better. Ate inside. We got: - New England Clam & Corn Chowder: Call us crazy, but this was the best clam chowder we've had yet in the Boston area. Lots of flavor, and the corn brought some sweetness. - Italian Beef Stew: The definition of hearty. The consistency of this soup is just perfect. - Soups came with bread or pre-packed crackers. The bread was perfect to dip in the soups - Also got jalapeño pickles. Just enough spicy kick, and these were a refreshing break from the soups. Maybe it was just because it was spontaneous, but this place really left an impression on us. We look forward to coming back, trying more soups, as well as all the other little random snacks they have.

Wern O.

Yelp
TLDR: great clam chowdah and a fabulous price. Came in for the weekend and walked through the city taking in the sites. We wanted to get more of a casual diner place and this spot nailed it. There's a selection of soups and sandwiches for more than affordable prices. The clam chowder was phenomenal. My wife's lobster soup was also delicious. Seating is a little limited inside, and we had to wait for a spot mid afternoon but we also came on a weekend in October during peak season.

Nina D.

Yelp
This place in Salem is awesome! Seriously some of the best soup around. We went for lunch and the manager/owner was so nice. They had sample tasting cups that they would let you try any flavor soup you desired. Their selection of soups was fabulous. I had the chicken vegetable with added noodles and it was delicious. Light, but so flavorful and hearty. I also got the ham sandwich they had. It had this apricot mustard that was so good, and I usually don't like mustard. The pricing for the portion of soup was a little high. However, the soup was so good, I will pay it again. All in all, I will be back.

Diana K.

Yelp
In search of something warm on a cold New England day in Salem. Had perused the offerings online and read some of the Yelp reviews. Arrived on a Friday around 2:30 p and a friendly older gentleman behind the counter greeted us and asked if we (my friend and I) had been there before to which we replied "no" so he proceeded to explain the board behind him that listed the soup options and what the abbreviations at the top meant (like GF for gluten free). He did inform us we could have as many samples as we liked ...which are served in a small condiment container. I tried one and my friend tried two before deciding. The gentleman was really great about encouraging us to try before we Pre-made salads and sandwiches were on display in a refrigerated case to the right of the display of soups (not self serve) so I decided on the Mediterranean salad with the medium beef stew. My friend a garden salad with the chili con carne. I really enjoyed the beef stew which had fresh ingredients and a moderate amount of beef. My friends chili con carne was very spicy and after a few bites she lost her taste buds. The one thing she was very unhappy with is that she declined the complimentary rolls that come with the soup due to gluten sensitivity so asked if she could have some tortilla chips instead to which the gentleman replied that the chips only come with the large take home size only and pointed to the bagged chips that were for sale. That really turned my friend off. After paying $6-7 for a bowl of soup and declining the two rolls, she thought the least he could do is to throw in a handful of tortilla chips. We EACH spent about $17-$19 for lunch and left still a bit hungry. Went down the street to Jaho for dessert and coffee. Probably would not return based on the cost and having left not completely full.

Evelyn F.

Yelp
Hot soup is all I want after a walk in the freezing winter. After trying a few samples, I got the New England Clam and Corner Chowder. There was an option of getting 1 roll for the 12oz and 2 rolls for the 16oz, which made the soup really filling. The soup itself is a perfect mix of the corns, clams and potatoes in a perfect thickness. Highly recommended if you are to walk around Salem Witches Shop in the cold winter !

Luigina L.

Yelp
One of my favorite places I went. Amazing soup. Salad was spectacular. Fresh bread roll. Owner was so kind. Will go back every time Im in the area!

Jessica V.

Yelp
What a charming little place! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the soup is to die for. I ended up getting the lobster newburg, which was insanely delicious. There are several hot sauces available if you'd like to kick it up a notch. There's also a variety of gluten free and vegetarian options, which is a huge deal for someone on a strict diet for medical reasons like myself. I hope to find myself in Salem again soon so I can try more of their dishes.

Jack R.

Yelp
A little disappointed. Sampled their lobster Newburg and their chili before settling, and I do mean settling like you would for a woman during last call at the bar, for their corn and clam chowder. Once again a lukewarm chowder with very little flavor other than the cream. Honestly, had it not said "corn" I wouldn't have noticed it in the soup. Lackluster chowder. My search for the best MA chowder continues...

Mallory A.

Yelp
The menu was pretty self explanatory, but for some some reason everyone was confused. We had the clam chowder and the Italian sandwich. The bread was good, not too dry, and the soup was great.

Georgia D.

Yelp
So I got 4 cups of soup and a "sandwich" end total was 64$!!! SO OVERPRICED. I've got the thinnest sandwich anyone has ever had the audacity to serve. Soup is good but far too expensive and the place was VERY unclean and the owner was extremely impatient and yelled at my autistic daughter to hurry up ordering. We were the only people there. Never going back sooo overrated !!!

Tracy C.

Yelp
The soup here is pretty average. Got the classic New England clam chowder and it wasn't the best but also not the worst. There's not a lot of seafood in it. The store itself has no AC so it was VERY hot when we went. The man working there let us try samples before ordering too. The bread roll was really good though.

Audrey A.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this shop. Amazing soup, amazing atmosphere, amazing staff! Highly recommend if in the area!

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Please update your times on your websites. Just tried to place an order, delivery OR pickup... 5:47 pm on a Saturday night. Hours say open till 7pm. Was told you were closing in 15 minutes. Then tried to still order and was told you were out of certain staples to fulfill our order. Delivery was only available pre-order for the next day.

Jeremy B.

Yelp
No soup for you. I have not had a bad soup, portion size is very good, the price is great, and they offer tasters which is awesome. Everyone is also very helpful and friendly. I'll return and continue trying all the soups.

Alexandra W.

Yelp
Yummy soups! The menu is super explanatory for what it includes in its recipes (dairy, gluten, meat, seafoods) which was very helpful for my friend who is vegan! She was able to get a vegetable chili which was delicious! I got their Lobster Newberg, added a little pepper and hot sauce, and it was the perfect warm lunch for a rainy day! We also got the bread with our soups, because why not?? And they were warm and delicious. Definitely recommend this spot for a quick lunch in Salem!

Malissa V.

Yelp
What a gem of a place. One of our go-to's when it's cold out and we want something quick, warm and filling and we haven't had time to cook or if we aren't feeling well. So many varieties and their rolls are delicious too, and they have pickles and chips. Also, they have a soup hotline so you can hear what soups they have that day! How cute is that?

Lila D.

Yelp
I thought I didn't like clam chowder but if you're in Boston, ya gotta try it. So I tried it out of obligation and I loved it! Soooo good! And it came with bread or crackers which was a nice little bonus. Definitely recommend!

Tony N.

Yelp
Love the selections they got here. Came here for the new England clam chowder but i had to change my mind after i tasted the lobster bisque. It was sooooo bomb! Never had any lobster bisq like that before. It was pretty damn good. Apparently they use the whole lobster parts to cook it instead of throwing the goods away. Have you ever tried the creamy yellowish part of crabs and lobster? The head part ish where its pretty delicacy. If you like that part you love this soup. Yea they freeze it and heat it back up. So what? Compared to every other business out there? I believe they make the sou pool here in house even if its a chain restaurant. It came with a choice of white or wheat bread. I had wheat tryna be healthier ahaha. The soup is great during a cold day out there in boston
