Day Trips in Philadelphia

"New Hope’s known as a cool suburb (in fact, it was named one of Matador Network’s coolest towns in America in 2018), and it definitely lives up to that reputation. This Delaware River town, with gorgeous, old architecture and dogwood trees, might be quieter than the city, but it’s definitely not boring. New Hope has several niche small businesses, specializing in anything from lingerie to Irish imports to magic. You can grab a meal at the Bowman’s Tavern or the vegan-friendly Lambertville Station Restaurant and Inn. There are also art galleries, rumors of a haunted inn (the Logan Inn), and an impossible-to-miss big red barn that hosts local theater. Interestingly enough, two of its biggest communities are bikers and drag queens, and they get along swimmingly. New Hope is only an hour’s drive from the city, and can easily be combined with visits to Lambertville in New Jersey, just over the bridge, and the ridiculously quaint Peddler’s Village." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Yelp
A sarcastic shout out to the The New York Times (1.11.25) for anointing Bucks County Pennsylvania and artsy New Age mecca New Hope as the new "IT" destinations for The Hamptons crowd. Just what we need, more Range Rovers, faux foodies and sugar daddy bedazzlers. As if the crisp fall afternoons could become any more clogged with well heeled pedestrians clamoring for a seat at a panoply of overpriced, underwhelming eateries and endless curio shops. Many still cling to the "quaint" sobriquet to describe New Hope's charms, although i much prefer Don Henley's more apt observation... Call something paradise/You can kiss it goodbye. Thanks for nothing NYT.

Yelp
I LOVE New Hope except for the parking !!! Even if the kiosks are out of order, it's YOUR responsibility to take the time ( and space on your phone! ) to download a parking app so they can get their money!!! There's nothing I like more than wasting 15 minutes trying to pay while the kiosk ' cancels ' my payment or is a blank screen and I'm now late for a reservation!

Yelp
A really quaint escape from NYC just a couple of hours away. The whole Main Street is along the river and has bourgeoise villager vibe.

Yelp
An absolutely amazingly beautiful historic town nestled in the back country of PA. A "must" stop when you are in this part of the country and worth getting off the beaten path for. I have personally been coming here since I was a child. There have been a lot of changes over the years, but one thing remains the same...it's just a gorgeous piece of history. Whether you want to shop, browse, eat a meal, have a cup of coffee or just walk around...there is something for everyone.
