Starting with the positives….the hotel is amazingly located right in the centre of the port. It’s also right next to the tube, which takes you direct to the main train station. We had room 604, probably the best in the building with an oversized balcony that offered superb views of the bustle around the port. We sat up there for hours - amazing.|The negatives then, receptionist when we first arrived was rude and uninterested - we watched him deal with an elderly couple who popped in to enquire about a room, one of whom had a disability scooter. It seemed all too difficult for him so they left.|We asked the reception if we could have some padding for the metal outside chairs on the balcony as they were not the most comfortable and it was very hot so they weren’t the best to sit on. There was nothing available we were told and were advised not to use them if it was too hot. - really, we were on holiday and this is a 4* hotel.|The hotel offers a buffet style continental breakfast, which is served from cupboards next to the reception and with seating in the same area. We paid upfront for 3 x morning breakfasts but were immediately sceptical when we saw where it was coming from.|The next morning we came down…couldn’t get a small table as they had not cleared up from other guests….They had run out of croissants (it’s France !!)….Fruit was going mouldy…and we took a quick look under the coffee machine and Yeuch !! It was filthy.|Only right when making claims like this to evidence them properly so all pictures attached.|We advised the hotel that we wouldn’t be eating breakfasts there as the food prep and general cleanliness was poor.|Strongly suggest you don’t have breakfast here, it’s overpriced and poor….Marseille is littered with breakfast / coffee shops. There is one only a few doors away from the hotel, which sold a superb variety of croissants and other pastries at a fraction of the price.|Would we stay here again….unsure despite its amazing location in a fantastic diverse port, with so much to see and do.
