A straightforward hostel in a superb location. Our 4- bed family room was simply furnished but clean and comfortable, with a view over the river below. Shower water was hot and plentiful. The kitchen was well-equipped and clean. Plenty of tea, coffee and milk available to make yourself a cuppa on arrival. It was great to stay overnight in this special location: memories of walking the riverbank in the twilight hoping for otters, sitting in the sun by the war memorial after the day visitors had left, hearing dippers singing from the river when I woke. Recommended.

I stayed here while attending a family wedding at the New Lanark Mill Hotel, so the location was perfect. As far as accommodations go, it was a bit pricey for what you got-I've had cheaper stays at budget hotels and had more amenities. However, as far as a hostel goes, it was as expected. My only complaint was that towels were not provided in the rooms. You had to get them at reception, and I never saw anyone at reception for the first night and following day of my 2-night stay.

Location is brilliant. We paid to use the pool and sauna of the hotel next door and also got breakfast there. The walking trail is beautiful, even though it was raining we enjoy our walk.

Does the job when expecting no frills. As a hostel you expect the basics and the basics you get - there is a bed, a sink, a toilet and a shower. What more do you need. Staff are friendly, both at the hotel and the hostel. Only criticism is that the hostel was expensive for what you get. I've stayed in 4 star hotels for the same price.

First of all, bedshits were nasty: they stink as sweat body and it had a lot of stains. Second at all i didn't expect to meet new friends (big, dead spiders) in every single corner. Third of all, mold covered showers and i cant imagine washing there. Finally, weird, unusual red stains covered rugs. However enviroment is absolutely splendid and beds are comfortable.

Metal floors are crazy dangerous. Hostel was ok. Rooms very simple. Small bunk beds. Outside the new lanark complex has awesome architectual aestetics. All this lost on the inside the hostel. Kitchen and louge were the best areas. Host was also great. Access to pool a plus. Would not seek to stay here again.

Together in the hostel with another family of 5 children, with two little ones. They were really loud, and made a mess in the public rooms. There was little supervision. The kitchen was insufficient. Not enough equipment and one of the ovens did not work.

Arrived to our rooms to be greeted by stained carpets and bunk beds which had the most itchy sheets and solid mattresses and not to mention itchy pillows, breakfast and dinner was also included and the meals were left untouched the cooked breakfast had runny scrambled eggs which was mostly liquid and no egg and bacon which stung your mouth not to mention dried out baked beans, the starter for both nights was leek and pea soup and carrot and coriander soup which was better than the pea and leek which was left untouched dinner was also lasagne which was edible but bland and streakpie which the steak and puff pastry was edible and we also were greeted by 3 large dry boiled potatoes on our plate and for desert greeted by two scoops of icecream, what a relief to be home
