New Leaf Community Markets - Downtown Santa Cruz Permanently Closed

Great store, clean and staff was very nice. I ordered a sandwhich to go. $9.99. It was soggy and hard to eat because everything was falling out due to the wet sourdough bread. The banana peppers were not drained and were added to the sandwhich causing it to be soggy. I will not buy a sandwhich again unless its pre-made. The ingredients were good, fresh and good flavor. They have a salad bar and hot food as well. I will try that next time.

It used to be such a great place to shop. Last time I ordered a sandwich, it was $14! The prices have gone up, up, up. A small salad in a plastic non reclyable container is $8-$10. Plastic bags are everywhere for your expensive produce. The plastic use alone blew my mind. It's like they haven't grasped the concept of plastics or that most of them are non biodegradable. Which offends me.

Friendly people. Felt a little uncomfortable the first couple of times. No senior discounts at first but now I guess they've warmed up to me, lol. Overall I love it. Now I REALLY feel uncomfortable in this store. Came to buy some carrot juice and I waited while the cashier was talking to each other. I waited some more but it seemed like I was just getting disrespected and I left without my carrot juice. Come on Gren leaf, you have a few WONDERFUL people working there, but some could use a little bit of courtesy lessons. Thank you tho

This is a really well stocked market. They have everything. They really have a great selection. They have some good sales. They have a food bar like Whole Foods but it’s a little bit cheaper. The employees are very friendly and helpful. They have a really nice garden section with gifts. The beauty and health section is larger and more varied than many stories like this. It’s a nice place to sit and eat your food. You can get a coffee as well, espresso, lattes as well as smoothies.

The prices went sky high under bidenomics, with the inflation. The hot bar food at lunch is always indian, every item is a curry b-mb, not a fan.. why does it have to be indian food every day, with that said i rarely shop there now, I buy water, thats about it. I'll add a star because the staff is excellent as with the service. Just to expensive for a blue collar worker trying to make ends meet.

Just like Whole Foods but smaller and less selections. The deli has the staples of salads and hot foods but selection is limited. For a downtown business, they have a huge parking lot in the back which is very convenient. Great place to go pick up a quick bite.

Great little specialty grocery store. They have a nice selection of upscale items. There is a parking lot in the back of the store which has a back entrance. It's not very big though. The isles are kind of narrow and small so it gets a little tight during prime-time hours. They have a nice produce department, deli, and hot-prepared food section. It is a little bit on the small side so the selection is limited to, let's say, compared to a Whole Foods. They have an awesome department which is separated to the side of the store where they carry all of the body and health care products. Great selection of natural choices. The staff are friendly and the store is clean.

It’s my neighborhood market. I don’t give it 5 stars because there isn’t a butcher or fish counter. BUT there is a good selection of beef, pork , chicken and fish (usually salmon). The cheese section is ample and there’s a small selection of brined goodies. The deli section with coffee and smoothie/juice bar has tasty options. The veggies and fruit selection is great and I would say it’s reasonably priced for organic groceries. The staff has always been super friendly and helpful.
