We had a wonderful visit, love the art as well as the history of the building itself. Docent was very helpful and informative. Stopped back to see some new exhibits. Just excellent and very unlike the other Santa Fe museums. Very easy to move through, and see a solid series of exhibits that totally represent New Mexico colonial art.

This is a bit of a landmark in Santa Fe and definitively a must if you want to become familiar with what’s hot in terms of folk, Spanish and local art in the area. I’ve been here a few times and always enjoy the highly political art in display. It is a nice addition to the art scene here and it provides for a great non-threatening and casual gallery atmosphere.

Stumbled across this privately owned museum just roaming around. It's with four other museums at a place called 5 Museum Hill, for those vacationing who would like to get some Culture. It's $10.00 to get inside, and you are allowed to take pictures, unlike some of the other museums. The items are numerous.

Simply put: outdated. The Museum of Spanish Colonial Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico boasts to explore the Spanish colonial arts and crafts from the 1600’s to the present, yet failed to do so. The small exhibit area, with very little artifacts, was not even educational. I asked the man in-charge at the desk where the Philippine exhibits were located, and surprise, he cannot tell me which section of the room! Most of the time, the man was just tinkering on the computer and was never accommodating. Even if Santa Fe is promoting this museum, do not visit and waste your $8 for the entrance fee. You can learn about the Spanish Colonial Art somewhere else, not here.

Love. This. Place. If you love history, art and the culture of the Southwest check this place out. It’s a very well done museum in a lovely Adobe home. There is contemporary art along artifacts from the colony Spanish era. Amazingly rich trove worth the short trip up from the plaza.

A good representation of the area's Spanish culture, both old and new. The modern pieces were particularly poignant.

This is an absolutely beautiful and authentic facility. It tells the story of the Spanish and their entry into the region and allows for the story of the indigenous population to be told via indigenous sensibilities elsewhere. It would be wise to see ALL the museums on Museum Hill in the same day to get a sense of NM’s eternal complexity and syncretism.
