New Siam III Guest House

What looked like a promising and relaxing stay on the website turned out to be a disaster. My room on the second floor had bed bugs. The bed also smelled like death with millions of brown stains indicative of insect feces. Upon telling the staff of this, their solution was to give me another room, but after inspecting the new room, I found the same result. The whole building is infested. They could not get me a replacement hotel with either New Siam or New Siam II. So, at 3:00 AM I was left to find a better accommodation on my own. As you know, most hotels don't allow check in until 14:00. My advice: be very careful of places that are listed as hotels but are actually guest houses or hostels. Fellow solo female travelers, take priority in where you rest. Don't let yourself be led by what seems to be a "great deal." Your safety is of the highest importance!

Short review: Old-fashioned room with all your basic amenities on strategic location. By the time I was staying there, the pictures provided here are pretty accurate. TLDR: I was staying there for 5 nights and, as a Bangkok newbie (first timer even) and solo traveler, I could say this is a GREAT location to stay in. Located close to Khao San road where many say the backpacker area, so expectedly there are tons of street food and/or local food stalls anywhere. If you aren't too keen about trying local food (which I am not and you shouldn't LOL), there are restaurants that serves Western food as well. Coffee, bars, and 🍀 go without saying. They are everywhere. Some more pros: + Has laundry service that can be done within the same day + Great staffs with warm personality and helpful manner. + Room was basic with quite an old style room but has anything I need so I have nothing to complain about. When I checked in, everything was kept clean and tidy. + There are 2 ATMs right in front of guest house in case you need to draw cash ASAP. + Free Wi-Fi, but there was moment where I couldn't connect. Turned out they changed the password and happily informed the new password when I asked. Next is not a complain, but worth mentioning especially for those with mobility issue. I stayed on the 5th floor and the only way to get there is stairs. Mind you I don't mind using the stairs, but after getting drained from strolling around Bangkok and partying (I was there for Songkran), elevator/lift would be very helpful. I think they have one but broken, maybe? I didn't ask though. So be mindful with your situation, condition, and plan. Another "mobility" stuff I need to mention is there are no MRT/BTS nearby so your options are wheeled vehicles or your foot. However, you shouldn't worry much about it as there are tons of options. Tuktuk, taxi, or online driver (like Grab or Bolt) are available. Bus stop(s) also within walking distance. On top of that, there is a boat pier in one corner namely Phra Arthit that can take you to some iconic spots like Wat Arun and Icon Siam mall.

The pictures you probably seen on maps or trip.com don’t do justice to this hotel. It’s an old hotel with old furniture but my room was so clean. I booked a double bed for 3 nights. AC was functioning well and there was a ceiling fan too. Towels were clean and smelt fresh. 2-3 stars hotel usually have bleach smell but in here it smelt good. I extended my stay for half day where I had to pay only 200 baht. Location wise, it was really near to khao san and also phra atit pier, although I prefer to take grab ride. In short, the hotel is value for the money i paid and I will definitely book the hotel again.

It’s such a nice accommodation to stay in this interesting area. Everything including room cleanliness, staff, location and convenience. The only minor thing need considering is the noise from the airconditioner :)))

I was there to pick up my tourists so no comment on the room. The hotel staff are warm welcomed, at the lobby area giving the cozy ambiance, small but friendly vibe. The hotel is well located and hidden in the Rambuttri, nearby Khaosan road. This area is not noisy, but calm beside a local temple. Clean bathroom available. Easy access to the restaurants and massage at the corner. Not far from several visiting historical places.

A great location in the heart of the tourist area, yet the hotel itself is very quiet and peaceful, despite the fact that Khao San's nightlife is in full swing 5 minutes away. very friendly and helpful staff, on duty at the reception 24 hours a day. helped with a taxi to airport. the room is compact, there is everything you need, even a kettle. the air conditioner is great. the only downside is the slightly hard mattresses and few sockets. and the renovation is a bit outdated. but overall it doesn't spoil the impression.

Tired, slightly dilapidated guesthouse in the heart of the Khao San precinct. Dreadful wifi that wasn’t able to be remedied. Booked a week, left after 3 days as was chewing through my eSIM. Little wonder they have a strict No Cancellation policy. Feel sorry for the front of house staff. I can only imagine what the management is like to work for.

Cheap, well located and decent sized rooms. The stairs are pretty steep, and we got bitten loads by bugs while sleeping. The beds weren’t the comfiest. We didn’t decide to rebook because it wasn’t the most comfortable.
