This is a neat little local dessert shop along Richmond City’s main strip on the Number 3 Road. Their polished branding and slick menus and dining space made us initially perceive this place as a chain business, but they are in fact just a stand-alone shop with excellent presentation. As the name suggests, this place specialises in tofu/soy desserts (豆腐花), and serves a number of other popular Chinese-style drinks or gelatinous desserts in a bowl. By far their most photogenic is the Psyduck-shaped Egg Pudding. The novelty of bathing a popular cartoon character in a sweet, milky syrup and chewy toppings before consuming it hit a certain Pokémon nostalgia in the weirdest but most delightful way. If eating a character from your childhood shocks you, we’re sure you’ll find something yummy here to suit that after dinner sweet tooth. The open table space makes for a great place to chat and hang out. Give this place a whirl!

Delicious Food: The food was absolutely tasty, and the tofu dessert was a standout! Perfect Balance: The dessert wasn’t too sweet—just right—and it looked adorable! Great Texture: The tapioca pearls were soft, chewy, and perfectly made. Ideal Dessert: Sharing this light and refreshing dessert after a filling dinner was perfect. Cozy Spot: The place is small and cozy, with a welcoming vibe. Reasonable Prices: The prices are great—very affordable for the quality! Convenient Parking: Plenty of parking spaces were available right out front. Recommendation: If you’re looking for a light, delightful dessert, this is the spot. I’d definitely return to try more desserts! 🙏

I have never understood the appeal of tofu desserts until now, and now I am craving more! First, the atmosphere is very warm, elegant but not pretentious or dull. It was not too busy on a weekday afternoon. I ordered a custom soy pudding. You can choose 1-4 toppings from a good list. I picked grass jelly, taro yam balls, and sago (they were out of salted cream). I had my choice of pudding base, so I chose ginger brown sugar syrup. It was $12.50. I sat down and waited for my order. It did take a little while, maybe between 5-10 minutes, but that was fine with me as it usually means the food will be fresh. Presentation - really gorgeous, delicate and appealing. There were two scoops of brown sugar shaved ice (?) on top. Flavor - The ginger is quite strong, and the syrup is very sweet and refreshing to contrast the unsweetened creamy soy. Really nice. The sago was super sweet, and the taro and yam offered a good nutty contrast that was fun to chew. The grass jelly was silky, flavored predominantly by just the syrup. I was worried that the flavors would be too strong, or bizarre, or would confuse my brain (again very new to the concept) but it was actually soooo good. Texture - I loved slurping the cool syrup with scoops of all the toppings. The soy itself is separated into very smooth, silky strips. I liked the gummy texture of the sago the most, it had an easy chew. The taro yam balls were soft but not too soft, chewy but not overly annoying. Serving - Very very filling. Took me a long time to eat it. I was so satisfied afterwards. Overall - I really liked it, and I am craving more. The soy pudding is a great and refreshing summer treat.

Stinking adorable psyduck pudding!! We got a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Very jiggly and fun. The tofu pudding was tasty, but the scoops of ginger sugar on top were *spicy*. Caught us by surprise! The tofu was lovely and smooth, and the toppings were unique. Very nice!

Google
Loved going to Soytalk - tasty and cute treats. Got the soy pudding with grass jelly, taro paste and taro/sweet potato balls and brown sugar syrup and loved it. Next time I'd do ginger syrup. The grass jelly was ideal, super soft and slippery. My friend always gets the bunny/Psyduck pudding which is really light and comes with a side of soy milk to pour over. Excited to go again!

We ordered Tofu pudding, but the red bean was very undercooked, like crunchy. It gave my husband a stomache. I understand he was working alone and manning the shop alone that day, but still. When we ordered, he looked like he was very impatient. We ordered a lot for 4 people and when we asked for take out boxes, he barely gave us enough. And the shaved ice, in the picture, it looks like it comes with a popsicle, misleading pic I guess, because ours had none. The strawberry shaved ice, ngl, is amazing. Perfect amount of tangyness and sweetness, perfect strawberry for me. It is very hard to achieve that. Taro has a very very thick paste of taro or chestnut, it would be good for 3 to 4 people even if you order 1 to 2 ppl portion. All and all, it was okay. I prob wont be back even if the strawberry shaved ice was so good.

If you like soy milk or soy pudding! This place is a must try 😍😍 I liked the matcha more than the mango sago Definitely coming back to try different flavour

A great little shop at Parker Place! Cute and cozy place offering a variety of soy desserts. They have soy drinks, ice cream, mochi, pudding, toasts and pastries. If you’re vegetarian, lactose intolerant or simply a fan of soy, check this place out. Lots of yummy and healthy options for everyone. Items are fairly priced as well and come with great presentation. I recommend the soy ice cream (comes in a cute cup!), soy toast and the classic pudding where you can put your own toppings.

Yelp
TALK SOY TO ME One of my favourite dessert shops in Richmond has finally opened and they have the cutest new desserts! @soytalk is a health forward dessert cafe that serves a variety of soy based treats. You can expect to find fresh soy tofu pudding that's made in-house daily, as well as a variety of other delicious treats like soy shaved ice, and fresh soy milks in tons of unique flavours. We were obsessed the their new cute and jiggly duck pudding that comes in a set with the chewiest taro balls and roasted nut powder. The pudding itself was not too sweet, and had the consistency of jelly--super refreshing and smooth. My favourite though, was definitely their new Supreme Taro Soy Pudding. The bowl come with their fresh house-made tofu pudding, and is topped with fresh taro paste, chewy taro balls (big and small), and their signature soy shaved ice (unlimited refill). I loved how fragrant the fresh taro flavour was, and this bowl had just the perfect hint of sweetness to enhance the nuttiness of the soy and taro. We also ordered their signature soy pudding #3 which was topped with their brown sugar shaved ice, taro balls, and pearls. This bowl was definitely a lot sweeter because of the brown sugar, but still super refreshing if you're looking for a sweeter treat. SoyTalk also has a unique menu of soy milk drinks that are offered in tons of flavours that we had not seen before. We opted to try a strawberry and a mango, and both were delicious. They also have tons of other drinks like tofu milk teas, and your classic iced teas and slushes on the menu as well. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you guys are ever craving for Asian desserts without the guilt. Have you guys ever tried SoyTalk? 9/10 ‍10/10 $$ (approx. $10-$20/person) SoyTalk | 1410-4380 No. 3 Rd, Richmond, BC [media] Thank you to @soytalk for the invite

Yelp
As a visitor, I was so surprised to see an entire cafe dedicated to soy products. Growing up, tofu pudding was always a loved dessert, so I was excited to try it here! My group of six shared a classic ginger pudding and signature tofu pudding. I liked how each topping came in separate bowls; you can choose how much to pour into the tofu pudding bowl, or eat them separately. This makes it easier to share, since you can refrain from pouring a topping that someone else does not love. Overall, we loved it! I wish the ginger sugar was slightly stronger, but the soy flavor was very apparent. The ice cream was also great; I wish I got a separate order of it. My only reservation is that the tables and walkway are relatively small, so this spot isn't great for larger parties.

Yelp
I was researching places for dessert when I was planning out my Vancouver trip. I decided to spend my last day in the city of Richmond to see what types of Asian foods were offered in the area. As someone who loves soy milk & tofu (as in i could eat it daily), I was so glad to come across this place that offered a different take on taiwanese type desserts. I ordered the signature soy pudding dessert which came with boba, sweet potato ball, taro ball. I ordered it for to-go to eat it at my hotel after dinner. The tofu pudding was silky and delicious. It was a really nice balance of sweetness. I really wish there was a place like this in the Bay Area or LA. On another note - I almost did not walk into the store because I saw the sign said closed. But I saw some people sitting inside so I decided to pop in.

Yelp
Soy talk has been a dessert spot I've been wanted to try for the longest time! They specialize in soy based treats and offer ice cream, tofu pudding, soy milk and more. We ordered the grass jelly with soy milk dessert and it had SO MANY TOPPINGS! It came with QQ balls (sweet potato, taro, matcha), grass jelly, red bean, sago and a few of their signature red bean stuffed tapioca pearls. Overall, we enjoyed the dessert and it probably would have tasted much better warm. The grass jelly was fresh and the QQ balls were chewy. Our only complaint would be that we left our dessert in the fridge for a while so the red bean stuffed pearls were hard in texture. We aren't sure if this was because they were in the fridge or if they were this way but we weren't a fan. We tried to heat it up to see if the temperature was impacting it but it was not the case.

Yelp
Was disappointed that they don't have ice cream today but not their fault. I tried several items they have and I'm not hating it but also not loving it. Only showing the cake cups and mochi but also ordered two drinks - taro soy and also green bean soy - It was my first time trying it out, and perhaps my expectations were set too high since I love soy products but it was really "meh". I feel like recipes are off... some of them are WAYYYYYYY too sweet, and some of them have no flavour what so ever.

Yelp
This is more of a 3.5 review but I'm rounding it down because I left feeling a little unsatisfied. We found this place through yelp and was interested as it was soy based desserts. The interior is very cute and what you get is also super cute. We got the original soft serve and Oreo soft serve. Both definitely has the soy taste that you get when you drink unsweetened soy milk. It's grainy and not too creamy. The Oreo didn't really do much to the soft serve as the soy was overpowering. It took a really long time to get our dessert even though we were the only ones there. The menu description also didn't reflect what we got and also the yelp pictures from other yelpers were different as well. Not sure if they just use what they had on hand? Overall, cute place and it was good to try but not something I would go back

Aerica W.

Yelp
Lactose intolerant humans, rejoice! My order: Brown Sugar Taro Soy Drink: Taro balls were very soft & chewy, and the brown sugar isn't too overpowering or sweet. Oreo Soy Ice Cream was creamy (but still a little icy compared to traditional ice cream), and low sweetness as well. It's their regular soy milk ice cream (not Oreo flavoured) - just Oreo crumbs sprinkled on top. Located in Parker Place in Richmond.

Yelp
I enjoy eating unsweet ice creams, so when i tasted their signature soft soy ice cream I was delighted of how good it was, not so sweet yet smooth and a good alternative to those with lactose intolerance. We also had the signature pudding with additional toppings it was as well good love the brown sugar taste it just goes well with the pudding. The signature mochi was so soft and stretchy love eating it while its warm. I bought two of their bottled soya milk, the original flavour which I really liked it was not sweet yet creamy. The only one I did not like much is the matcha sponge cake, I think it does not have taste on it, not sure but I fined it bland and nothing special on it. Overall, they do have lots of awesome menu, clean and pretty decors, I'd love to try their hot soya drinks next time.

Yelp
I'd love to say that this place is a super cute hidden gem in Richmond. Having a non-dairy (soy based) soft serve/dessert place around town is something you don't often see and it's great for those who are vegan or have any food sensitivities. The decoration is wonderful inside and the way they serve it to customers is quite attracting. I've given it two stars because I just felt like the taste wasn't there. It just felt really bland and it didn't have the sweetness you would think a soft serve needs.
google avatar

Yelp
Overall, I had a great experience at Soytalk. The service was excellent, and the café was decorated nicely and had a great ambiance. Soytalk serves a healthy alternative to traditional dairy-based desserts! The desserts here are so cute and taste yummy too. If you're a fan of soy, I think you would love Soytalk but if not, it's probably not for you (since their desserts have a very prominent soy flavor).

Yelp
I've been wanting to try their soy-based ice cream and I was awed upon discovering how many items they offer! They have some cakes, pudding, mochi, and even toasts! I ended up ordering their original ice cream and the cake-in-a-tin (original flavour) item. The flavours were quite similar - strongly soy-taste. If I could go back in time, I would tell myself to let go of my understanding of an ice cream - I shouldn't expect a creamy taste nor a creamy, smooth texture - it's based on soy and not milk, and that makes a lot of difference =) The texture was closer to that of an icy sorbet, grainy to a point. The soy floss helped bring some variety and contrast in the texture and flavour, but again... don't expect a rich creamy flavour. It added a nice little crunch to the experience though! I think those who prefer their ice cream not too sweet would like their ice cream as well, as it wasn't too sugary, and it felt healthy/guilt-free having it! The staff was nice and the store was bright and clean. There was some soft music playing which added to the 'chill' feel of the store.

Yelp
A good place for tofu dessert lovers. They do a wide range of tofu sweet soups and even shaved ice. I got mine to go due to covid, and the tofu was silky, soft and flavourful. The rice balls that came with it was slightly chewy. Everything was just the right amount of sweetness. It doesn't look like a lot of food when they're in the containers, but it's actually enough for two people. They have a good decor inside the store too, and a great place to meet with friends outside of a cafe.
google avatar

Winnie C.

Yelp
They are open for sit down dining. Place is clean and spacious. Free wifi, friendly staffs, plenty of parking outside. Desserts are all soybean based, rich flavors but not overwhelmingly sweet.

Yelp
We needed a place to relax while the parents were shopping at Parker Place. My bro-in-law spotted this place which looks fairly new and intriguing. A dessert shop dedicated to all things soy! Soy Milk, Soy Pudding, Soy Custard, Soy Mochi, etc. It will definitely be on the healthier side of the dessert spectrum, provided you don't go overboard with toppings. Despite just coming back from a great, but filling dim sim lunch at Yue we decided to squeeze in room for dessert. The Steamed Soy Custard seems to be the better of the two desserts. Soft, fluffy and warm soy custard with just a hint of sweetness topped by marble-sized, chewy boba. Simple and good. The Black Sesame Soy Pudding smelled great but I would say its more of an acquired taste. The texture is sticky and slimy, and us engineers may call it viscoelastic - exhibiting properties of a solid and liquid, depending on the situation. Good black sesame power (which I loved), but man that funky texture is not for me. Note they had some issues with US Amex credit cards, but they do take cash and WeChat pay. I can see myself coming back for soy milk, but maybe pass on the puddings!
google avatar

Charlie T.

Yelp
I normally don't drink or eat much soy milk/products, but am always open to trying it out especially when it involves soft serve! I was eager to try out the black sesame flavor and the mango ones, but they were out. I had a swirl of the original and matcha flavor. The texture was a bit more coarse and not as smooth as I would like it, however, you can definitely tell it its soy base and the flavor is there. I liked the larger brown sugar boba that came with the soft serve. I haven't had that kids d of boba where there's a piece of red bean in the middle. I also had some of the signature soy pudding and the brown sugar one. Both of them were pretty tasty. The person helping us was very friendly and also let me sample the flavors they had available, which was helpful.
google avatar

Ronald H.

Yelp
First time trying this place out, and I like it. They have some unique stuff like Soy milk soft serve (but its kind of like soy milk ice, rather than a creamy base). They also have red-bean filled boba. Pretty cool. and also bean curd floss instead of a pork floss. Their tofu pudding and soy milk looks legit too, but had to save it for next time
google avatar

Wennie H.

Yelp
Cool concept but I wasn't a fan of the things we purchased. Oreo soy milk just tasted like..soy milk. The server said it was sweet but it literally had no flavor other than basic unsweetened soy milk. Partner got the black sesame soy milk ice cream and it just tasted icy to me with a hint of black sesame. The ice cream is topped with some sort of granola. Overall, I was super excited to try this place and I'm glad I did so I won't wonder if it's good.

Eileen F.

Yelp
Honestly tasting the black sesame and green tea ice cream the first bite I'm like it's 2-3 stars. Before trying it I did have an idea of what I thought this ice cream would taste like, and it didn't meet that expectation. But upon eating it more I can understand the appeal in this dessert. Is it the yummiest ice cream I've had, no. But it is a great dairy alternative, it's very refreshing, and also is a healthier alternative to dessert. I'd imagine older folks would actually really enjoy this. Even though personally for me this isn't my first choice when it comes to dessert but I understand why it can be good for some people. Which is why I'll give it a 4.
google avatar

Jenny D.

Yelp
The taste of the classic soy soft serve with pork floss was good, but the consistency was rather icy (not smooth and creamy as it should be).
google avatar

Issie C.

Yelp
This little dessert/drink place inside of Parker Place (a few steps next to the large Chinese restaurant) featuring soy as the key ingredient is quite refreshing. They just had their soft opening 2 weeks ago. You have the choices of soy milk, soy bread, soy pudding and soy ice cream, all in different flavours. Got a matcha soft ice cream to go. The matcha flavour was very nice without overly bitter or sweet. It doesn't leave the after sourness flavour in your mouth. The jumbo pearls were cooked thoroughly with perfect texture. The brown bits had a bit of savoury taste to it to balance the sweet treat. You get 3 different textures in this one. The takeout packing was quite innovative. It's a plastic jar with a screw on lid. You can use it afterwards for storing different items, edible or non edible. However, the plastic jar is not recyclable nor is the lid. GOOD TO KNOW: Only 2 flavours of ice cream will be served on any given day although there are 4 or 5 options on the menu. I hope this situation will change after their grand opening. Their black sesame flavour is intriguing but unfortunately it was not served today. The seating is limited, under 20 in capacity roughly. The servers were nice. Cash and debit only.
google avatar

Jyll J.

Yelp
This oreo soy ice cream was so cute and it was delicious as well! i love the neat presentation of the food served here as well as the fact that the soy ice cream tasted so good and wasn't overpoweringly sweet.
google avatar

Kay F.

Yelp
We came here for dessert as I've been meaning to try their ice cream. We got their signature soy dessert and definitely was not disappointed. The cream has good flavour, silky, and was perfectly balanced with the pork floss and red bean filled pearls. Normally not a person who's a fan of red bean, but the combination of pearls and red bean certainly worked well in this dessert.

Yelp
I had the most amazing soy milk ice cream when I went on vacation a few months ago so was very excited to try the soy ice cream here. I think prices for the ice cream is reasonable at $5.50. The soy milk is a little pricy ($6.99) and soy pudding was expensive at almost $10. They didn't have the back sesame flavour when I came, but I wanted to try the original anyways. Right off the bat, the texture was different than I expected. I was expected a creamy soft serve texture, but the ice cream was icy, thick and stiff. I enjoyed the soy flavour and thought it could even be stronger. I didn't mind the addition of the salty pork floss. It reminded me of the Shanghainese soy milk soup. However, we didn't like the black mochi balls. They were hard inside and served warm. Warm mochi balls on cold ice cream. Hmmm... Service could be friendly. No smiles from the staff, no welcome greetings, and no thank yous. Honestly, we might come back to try the other items, but this experience left us underwhelmed.

John D.

Yelp
I threw away my order because it smelled and tasted sour. When I informed the worker, she said the dessert should taste sour with a smirk on her face. She refused to give me a refund, credit or a different item. When I asked for the manager, she said she did not know the manager's contact information. She started to giggle which I don't know if it's because she lied to my face or she was nervous. My conclusion is that they are slower in the colder months and no one notices them not cleaning as they are busier in the summer. They should know that with any food products, regular cleaning is required even if it's not dairy products.

Yelp
My friend is lactose so Soytalk seemed to be a good choice for some healthy dessert and drinks! I have been to Soytalk a couple of times and I know a lot of their items seem very naturally flavoured, not too sweet. With the pandemic, we wanted to order everything to go. Their staff was super nice and supportive. My friend didn't really want to leave the car and so the staff actually remember both our orders and came to pass our items through the car window when it was ready. I was amazed that they were so accommodating! Their takeout packaging was super cute! My favourite was their Soy Mochi and I was worried it wouldn't be as fresh/gooey compared to having it to go but it was still just as soft and stretchy as always. We also order their Signature Soy Milk which had the BIGGEST boba pearls I had ever seen. Their desserts were not too sweet, healthy and overall had a good time still.
google avatar

Shawna L.

Yelp
Came here after hearing about this place on Instagram. Was excited to try their red bean pearl toppings and their soy soft serve. We ended up ordering a house soy pudding, original soy milk, and a vanilla soft serve. All three of these included the red bean pearls, which was a plus. The soft serve was more on the icy side but I found it refreshing and still creamy enough, so it is my favourite of the three things we ordered. I'd like to come back to try their matcha. For their soy milk, I actually have had better soy milk elsewhere, although the pearls were a very nice touch. The pearls are better enjoyed warm and chewy- as soon as they get colder then the outside becomes kind of hard and not as nice. Finally, the soy pudding as not sweet enough for me, but you do get a LOT in a bowl and we were pretty full after finishing. I would probably come back to try their flavoured soy milk options and their soft serve again.
google avatar

Erika T.

Yelp
It's the perfect place for people who are lactose intolerant. The desserts and drinks here are not very sweet so if you have a sweet tooth, it may not be your favourite. Really enjoyed their black sesame soy Mochi!!!
google avatar

Carmen H.

Yelp
They offer healthy soft serve alternatives. What's better than having ice cream without feeling guilty about it? Also, it's a perk to people who are lactose intolerant. We were quite impressed by how creamy this was because it was soy based. The brown sugar pearls were we loved the texture and chewiness of the pearls, they were also MASSIVE! Also, their house-made crispy soy bean flakes adds a nice crunch to it, it totally completes the soft serve.

Yelp
We were in Richmond on a rainy Wednesday night. We had dinner with my gf's family. After dinner my gf and I decided to go out for dessert.... it was rainy and pretty miserable out but we found SoyTalk. The store is pretty nice. Everything is branded and it has a clean "Western" appearance. Besides their soy based offerings SoyTalk has some toast food offerings. The toasts look tempting but we never got a chance to try them out (maybe next time). I had the signature soft serve... soy milk soft ice cream. My gf had the house special soy pudding. Overall, I liked it. The soy is high quality and tasty (but not too sweet). I hope this store makes it in the Vancouver market, but I am concerned that if soy desserts are your main offering can you survive? I'd recommend people give it a try....it's pretty good... probably more suitable in the Summer.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is perfect for lactose intolerant people! Soy Milk Soft Ice Cream with salty soy pulp/leftovers?, seaweed and chewy pearls ($5.50cad) was our fave! It had a strong soy milk taste! Quite refreshing! Matcha Soft Ice Cream with salty soy pulp/leftovers?, seaweed and chewy pearls. ($5.50cad) This wasn't our fave. Couldn't taste the matcha flavour and the texture was more like a shaved ice. Not as creamy as the soy milk ice cream. They sell soy milks, breads, panini, puddings as well. I would go back to try more of their menu items. Overall, it's not my fave place for dessert. I tried this place when they opened not too long ago, so I would give this place a second try. The ice cream tasted a bit weird. My friends and I didn't enjoy the soy pulp/leftover bits that was added on the ice cream, but I guess you can ask them to not add them if you also don't like that.

Yelp
Wow I'm genuinely shocked about the low ratings this place has received! I came once at the suggestion of a friend and enjoyed it so much I returned the next night. I finally found a dessert shop where I can enjoy multiple servings of soft serve without feeling guilty because it's so light and the texture is ice cold and actually soft! I've tried the regular soy and the matcha and I prefer the matcha. Note that the two days I went the other two flavours were not available, one being black sesame. Which means I'll have to come back next time I'm home. The tofu pudding and soy milk are loaded with soy flavour (of course) but it's got enough of a kick at the end of each bite that it makes you want to dig your spoon in again for more. I enjoy that the desserts are paired with oversized tapioca (pearls) and of course syrup is served on the side. The soy milk is thicker in texture than I had expected so be prepared for more of a smoothie type drink. I've tried the regular and red bean soy milk and would recommend the red bean because it's more of a unique flavour. The cheese panini was also nicely done and pressed so tightly that its ingredients actually stayed intact! For someone who dislikes messy eating I really appreciated this. They did add a lot of additional things into the panini in addition to the what was listed on the menu so if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, you should communicate with them beforehand. I find that dessert shops don't always last long in Richmond because they are so pricey so I really hope this one does!

Yelp
I didn't know soft serve could come in any other form until my friend told me about this place that claims to do soy-based soft serve. This seems to be a new little nook in the otherwise dying culture of Parker Place in Richmond. Upon entering, the space allowed for a decent amount of seating, and was very bright and airy. The only worker in the establishment quickly and efficiently took our orders and prepared the soft serves for our party of 3. Now to the most important part of this review. I honestly wanted to love it. Being asian, I am probably very mildly lactose intolerant, so it would have been nice to have a place that makes an alternative to dairy-based soft serve. This was not it. The soft serve was very icy which overpowered the mango flavour. It was so icy that even after deciding I would rather melt my dessert and drink it as a soy milk, it just did not melt, even after vigorous mixing. The dessert also had giant tapioca balls which were a little tough to chew on the inside. The dessert definitely needed some kind of sauce or sweetener like condensed milk or a brown sugar syrup to amp up the otherwise bland taste. For $5.50 pre-tax, it wasn't expensive, but it wasn't good. There are many better places to be spending your money on soft serve and personally would not be returning. If you are into VERY mildly sweetened desserts, this may be the place for you.

Yelp
October, 6, 2019 I went there tried their red bean soy milk in glass bottle, which recommended by the cashier. Because I preferred sweet drinks. But its end up, I cannot taste any red bean inside at all, but rich and smooth favorite of soy milk inside the cute looking glass bottle.
google avatar

Janet D.

Yelp
Overall, the experience was alright. I feel that there are other locations that can give better soy-based desserts. The soft serve was kind of grainy and not sweet. The added topping was very good, the sweetness of it helped to balance eating them together. The topping was soft and chewy and helped also in balancing textures.
google avatar

Chloe C.

Yelp
Soy milks are overpriced and not that great. Their soft serve is to die for but their machine broke so it has been discontinued indefinitely. I'd only go back if they serve their soft serve again. Taro Soy Milk (3.5/5) Extremely thick. Decent taro flavour. Black Sesame Soy Milk (3/5) Nutty flavour from the sesame. Somewhat thick. Oreo Soy Milk (2.5/5) Not too thick. Oreo flavour tasted very watered down.

Yelp
Original Soy Milk Soft Serve _ I'm so happy @soytalk opened up! I didn't know I was missing soy milk soft serve in my life until I had it! I got the original and I highly recommend it for your first time. It tastes like authentic soy milk - not too sweet and strong soy flavour. I think they added meat floss on top and it really compliments the sweetness by adding a bit of saltiness and crunch texture I do wish their tapioca balls were a bit more bite size so there could be more..

Yelp
As someone who is lactose intolerant, I was bouncing off the walls when my friend suggested getting dessert at a new vegan dessert shop. ***It is important to note that my disappointment was probably greater than an average customer because I had walked into SoyTalk with huge expectations.*** Upon entering the cute interior, one glance at the menu displayed brought me great confusion. They had an item somewhere along the lines of "cheese panini" and I thought it was strange because I had assumed that because the store specializes in soy-based desserts, it is a vegan shop and would not sell anything that has dairy (cheese). When I asked the cashier if the cheese in the panini is a soy-based cheese (idek if that exists...this was how confused I was), he looked confused at ME and said that it's just normal dairy-based cheese. Regardless, this does not contribute at all the 2 stars I am giving them. I ordered their matcha soft serve as well as their soy tofu dessert and amongst our group of 4, we unanimously agreed immediately that the tofu dessert served at dimsum restaurants is 100x better than what we had ordered. All in all, maybe it was because I came in with high expectations that I was so disappointed but regardless, not worth the hype in my opinion and you can definitely get better dessert in Richmond (in fact, we went to Blackball after because we were so unsatisfied). My final two cents: variety is great but if you're going to specialize in something, master it first...especially when the product is in your store name.

Yelp
Blah. I was super excited but it was a disappointment. Their softserve was too icy and not creamy enough. Service was friendly and kind and store is pretty. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll go back. Being a dairy free person, i was so so so excited. Oh well.

Yelp
First time visited SoyTalk, I was impressed with the cute design and cozy atmosphere of the interior. Although it was a monday night, most of the tables were occupied (they have arlound 6-7 tables in total). I decided to try two new items on their menu: Red Jujube soy milk and Soy Mochi. The soymilk was way to thick for my taste and it needed WAY more sweetness to elevate the nutty taste of the red jujube and soymilk. The soy mochi was not bad thou (but not great either), it was different than normal mochi. It was softer and jellier, the soy powder added a nice sweet and salty touch to it. I would come back to try other desserts.

Yelp
Let's talk about SoyTalk! It's cool that there's a dessert place committed to soy options only. Perfect for all those lactose intolerants (not me). However, their soy milk soft serve is pretty interesting. It's served with a type of meat floss, that's actually made with organic roasted soybeans. It added a nice chewy texture to the smoothness of the soft serve. It's definitely different than regular soft serve. As for their puddings, they offer a type of boba that's filled with red bean. They're massive compared to regular boba. Lots of chewiness for sure, especially combined with all the other toppings. I much enjoy the aesthetics of the store, alongside with their cute logos and cups. Definitely worth going to if you're a fan of soy like myself.

Yelp
I love their cup! It's super cute. It doesn't come with a lid though.... The soy ice cream is ok. I didn't like grainy texture of the ice cream but the soy flavour was spot on. I believe the graininess has to do with the fact that it's not made with milk/cream thus no creamy texture. I got the original and it came with these giant bobas with some meat floss. I'd say it's a nice to have toppings but taste-wise it didn't add any wow factor. The soy milk was rather thick and creamy. If you like milkshakes, protein shakes, you'd probably enjoy this. I like my soy milk on the lighter side.

Yelp
Lazy staff don't want to make sandwiches one hour before closing. Visited multiple times for them to say "no" without any reason.

Yelp
Probably the most disappointing desserts I've ever had.... Not sure if it was because my excitement and expectations was so high, but when you hear "soy milk flavour soft serve" how can you not be! The ice cream was presented very unappetizing, nothing like how they advertise it on instagram, and the texture was awful. Basically a flavourless solid slushy at best. Super disappointing!

Yelp
Came here with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. Place was empty when we got there. Very cute and homey decor. Matcha Soy Milk Ice Cream: This was surprisingly delicious! I am not a huge fan of soy milk especially the ones you buy from supermarkets because they are way too sweet and I don't like the taste but this didn't taste anything like it! It could probably be due to the toppings that came with it so it might of over masked the soy milk taste but I'm not sure. The matcha ice cream came with red soy bean boba and baked crispy soybean floss. The ice cream itself was light and refreshing. As for the toppings, I am also not a huge fan of boba but these were very good because they had red bean inside. The bobas were plump and had a good chewy texture. I also really liked the soybean floss because they added a lovely crunch and a different flavor to the dish. (5/5) Black Sesame Soy Mochi: I love mochi and black sesame so this was best of both worlds! It was soft and gooey, and you could taste the black sesame because there was a generous amount dusted on top. What made it even special was that it was served warm! The only negative comment I would make would be that it was quite pricey. (4.5/5) Overall, cute place and friendly staff! I will definitely be coming back especially for their soy milk ice cream!

Yelp
This has been my favorite dessert place after I found this spot! Because it is not that sweet and healthy. Perfect for after dinner if you want something healthy and good!

Yelp
Pretty cool hangout spot situated at the outer corner of Parker Place. I got the black sesame ice cream and my friend got the soy one. The service is lacklustre, but the food products are good. The black sesame has a lighter taste than I expected and both the ice cream flavours are refreshing. I thought the little dried meat pieces on top and the seaweed was a nice touch and created a unique flavour. The price was reasonable, but I think some of their soy milk price is too much. For example, $7 for a small glass bottle of soy milk seems like a rip off lol

Yelp
Got the soy pudding thing. hmmm. It comes with taro balls and black glutinous rice. Both kind of uncooked. Taro ball I had is too chewy and inside there is filling but couldn't really tell what filling it was. It was one tiny tiny bean or something. And 10$ for that is bit pricey. I'd rather went for something else.

Yelp
Overprice, soy milk taste like nothing special. There was no thought into using the correct type of cups for cold drinks. The opening on the lid was too small, pearls and straw didn't fit. Totally not worth the $7.
