I suppose it depends on what one is used to with regard to ratings.||We were only impressed with the bed, and sheets, but not the pillows. ||The bathroom was utterly filthy. The door to the shower didn't slide, the window couldn't be closed allowing mosquitos to enter, the toilet didn't flush properly and then overflowed ( yuk),it was quite noisy, the rooms are small but the tv and a/ c worked well. Breakfast was pathetic. The reception were nice folks but the manager ( owner?) could not be described as helpful ......Mayanmar is a delightful country with overwhelmingly mostly wonderful people but we suspect this hotel reflects big city pressure and attitudes. We will definitely return but will not linger long in Yangon nor stay in this hotel again.Pay an extra $10 and get a nice room with decent amenities, in a better area.||The Thai restaurant around the corner ,Rays Thai is amongst the better Thai food we have had on this and other trips in the area. Do not miss the stunning temple which is covered in 60 tons of gold...go between 5-7 pm and watch the sky for the birds feasting on the insects attracted by the lights. Buying good cheap clothing in Yangon proved difficult but ultimately the street sellers turned out to be the most cooperative pricewise and surprisingly of often better quality. Mandalay market however had the best quality and prices. Bagan was stunning and Inle idyllic.....hiring a car and driver with a Guide to meet us Mandalay rather than flying, taking taxis, finding our own hotels, restaurants, off the beaten path sites was worth every penny...I will happily make a referral to any request for nformation on this subject.
