New York Grill

No frills place (hole in the wall) but the food and service was superb. I ordered to-go and she said 3 minutes and it was exactly 3 min. Took 20 min to eat it once home (my fault) and it was really good tasting even a little reheated. Good portion for the price. Girl out the counter was excellent. Lived around the corner for 4 years and tonight I said I have to try this spot.

I’ve lived near this place for years, but randomly decided to stop in a couple of months ago on a whim because a gyro sounded good. And it was. The lamb gyro was delicious, I was hooked. And then I tried the chicken gyro — a revelation. They’re so large that they’re wrapped within a paper plate for support, always fresh and the perfect temperature. The lamb is sort of in cubes (not the super dry slices that gyros can have at some places) and the chicken has a shredded texture. I love them both. It’s now become a fairly regular stop after a long day at work for some comfort food. Make sure to get a side of the hot sauce to drizzle on top.

During my weekend stay in Washington DC I was able to visit the New York Grill twice. Both times the food was IMMACULATE! I highly recommend the Lamb Gyro, and the fries were very good too! Even with roughly a 20 Minute walk back to my hotel, the food comes out hot, and well wrapped, allowing the heat to stay within and keep your food warm for quite a while! Overall, this was my favorite place we ate over the course of 3 days, out of about a dozen spots. I DEFINITELY Recommend the New York Grill! Please patronize this great establishment, hell go 3 times a day if your budget allows! I'll certainly miss the NY Grill while I'm back home in Western PA.

I liked this spot! Surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night at 9pm but my food came out fast and service was great! I liked my lamb pita although maybe it would’ve been better for the pita to eat it there, as it got a bit soaked with juice. Portions were very large! Definitely will come back.

I had a wonderful experience here! The young lady Samrra provided exceptional customer service—she was polite, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect. The food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. I appreciate how smoothly everything went. Highly recommend this place!

I’ve been coming to this hidden gem for 2 years now and I must say, the food here always hits the spot after a long day at work. Everything is fresh every flavor is unique and the fish is by far my favorite! If you’re ever in the Adams Morgan area COME HERE !

I'm not sure if management has changed but I've been coming here for a few years and they honestly had the biggest best burger in the city, however I noticed recently that the burgers are not the same size and even taste slightly different also to top off my disappointment I found a long hair strand in my burger so I wasted my money and only had a bite of my food and had to throw the rest out which is a shame

A nice carry out place. I had the double burger and fries. It was bigger than you'd expect. I'm looking forward to trying out the gyros next time.

Best chicken & rice - it reminds us of home [new york city]. Using Basmati rice is pretty classy too.

My girlfriend stumbled upon this place a few days ago and decided to go in for a lamb gyro and she tells me it was the best gyro she's ever had. After that story, today, I suggested to take her there for lunch, so I could try the gyro myself. It was not even close. She was very disappointed. The pita was soggy, unlike the crispy quality one she got the first time, the lamb was cooked from frozen, unlike the fresh strips she got the first time. The employee host today was not the same one that served her the first time. He didn't even have the courtesy the properly wipe the table where we wanted to sit after we asked him to do so, and he did a subpar job with the food. I have to take 2 stars away for lack of consistency, hoping the restaurant owner keeps high standards moving forward.

New York Grill is the spot! I eat here 2 to 3 times a week and it never gets old. Great service all the time and always friendly. The Gyro salad is my go to as well as the grilled shrimp always flavorful. New York Grill is a must try!!!!

New York Grill has the best halal food that I've been able to find in the area. Used order lunch from their food truck and was excited to have this location open near me. They blow the other popular halal chain restaurant in the DMV area away in terms of both quality and value for what you pay.
