I own a nonprofit and we worked with this company to rent directors chairs for a recent event.
My nonprofit manager posted this review on 6/20/24:
This was a good experience turned sour. We needed directors chairs in a pinch. Thankfully, I found this company via google. I placed the rental order Monday and they delivered the next day, which I appreciate the fast service. During pick-up, our venue made a mistake and gave the chairs to the wrong pick-up crew. It was honestly a pure mistake, as we had several pick-ups post our event. We figured out the mistake within 20 minutes of NY Party Rentals’ pick-up crew arrival to retrieve the chairs. I explained what happened to NY Party Rentals and asked if they could wait for the chairs to come back. They said no because they had other deliveries, which I understand. I then asked when can they return to pick the chairs. They are charging us $871 to come back and pick up chairs. The mistake was not even made by us. $871 is more than what we paid for the original rental. I do not recommend using this company for this reason. The lack of understanding and harsh customer treatment is disheartening. It’s just not worth working with them. Mistakes happen. I’m sure your team has made mistakes as well. Think twice before working with this company. You will find better service else where.
Minutes later, this company emailed my nonprofit manager saying: “Based on your review, we are going to update the invoice, which will. be a lot more or charge you replacement costs based on our contract”
My nonprofit manager then called this company to ask why are they charging us more for sharing our experience. She was told the boss didn’t like our review. She ended the phone call agreeing to take down the review to avoid being charged unfairly even more.
She took down the review.
My nonprofit manager then emailed the company in the evening. Here is what she wrote: Hello, I just reached my destination and am working on getting the link paid. When we spoke over the phone today, we both established that neither of us did anything wrong, since the mistake was made by a third party (the venue). Since I deleted the review, are you open to decreasing the second charge so that we can meet in the middle?
The next morning, she called to follow up her email. She was told the company would not decrease the second charge.
She paid the invoice for the second charge ($871) and sent them another email stating: I just paid for the link. Please keep in mind that I still stand by my review. I think it's unfair and harsh that we had to pay such a high price for a mistake that was not our fault. The chairs were ready for pick-up, they were just given to the wrong crew. We were a new customer; we don't envision working with this company again, nor will we make a referral. This truly was a good experience turned sour.
I am putting this review up because I think customers should be well informed of how New York Party Rentals works. My nonprofit manager said it before and I will second her in saying it again; Think twice before working with this company. You will find better service else where.
