Why Last-minute Flights Are so Expensive — and How to Save Anyway

"A smaller regional airport serving the greater New York market that can be a useful alternative to the big-city airports; with lower traffic and different airline service patterns, it can sometimes yield lower fares or last‑minute deals for travelers willing to use a less central airport." - Stefanie Waldek Stefanie Waldek Stefanie Waldek is a space, travel, and design journalist with expertise in aviation, meteorology, and polar regions. We love flying into Signature Aviation at Stewart International Airport! It is clean, comfortable and warm FBO with an excellent, friendly staff! When we arrive we are greeted with a big hug from Ivette at the desk who provides us with any local information & particulars we need. Aaron & Jon are also there to provide any assistance we need. It’s a great place to fly into!

I had such a great experience thanks to Tod! He was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful. It’s rare to meet someone who goes above and beyond with such genuine care, not just for me, but for my dog too! His friendly attitude made our travel experience so much smoother and stress-free. Thank you, Tod, for your outstanding service!

Great little airport. Super clean, staff amazingly jovial and helpful, going through security was a breeze. Just 1 terminal with the 6 gates one next to each other so super easy to find yours. Comfortable seats in the waiting area and plugs that actually work! It seems the only place where you can get a coffee opens around 9am

Google
Stewart is tiny, but in a cute way. I love how it's not nearly as chaotic as JFK – everybody's relaxed, friendly, yet very professional. Everything flows smoothly and there are no long queues. Even though it's quite far away from Manhattan, the shuttle bus is more than convenient since it waits for all arriving airplanes. In other words, even if your flight gets delayed, the bus will be waiting there for you. Would definitely fly here again!

Google
The parking lot for the rental cars are way too far from the airport. They should offer to drive it up to the back of the airport near the ramp for you. It was a very hot day and I am disabled and had a very hard time walking that far. The Avis man should have told us it was a long walk and did not. When we returned 2 1/2 hours before our flight was to leave most of the employees were not there. We had to wait 30 minutes before TSA would let us get in line. I wish this had been made available to us as we would not have arrived so early.

Google
Great small airport near NYC. There is cafe. Very cosy and clean with polite personal

Google
In defence of the airport the staff are helpful and the airport is clean, but it's absolutely shocking in terms of public transport. It's literally like being dumped in the middle of nowhere. Ubers never come, no taxis and depending on day or time there's literally no public transport. If you are going into NYC you need to take the train (or pay 300 plus) to get there. But getting to train station can be a mission. It really needs to sort out it's transport links and get them running consistently. It's actually situated in a lovely area, so it you are exploring the region it could be convenient. But again transport links are horrific

What’s not to love about this airport! New terminal, great condition, not crowded, international flights, easy entrance and exit, reasonable parking rates!

Yelp
Flying out of this airport is so convenient and easy. The only downside is that there is barely anything to do at the airport. There are no lounges and they have just one "coffee" shop. I wouldn't even recommend their muffins or bagels, totally not appealing.. I wouldn't come here to lounge or relax too much since you'd have a lot of waiting around to do with nothing really to look at besides maybe your laptop, your phone, a movie? Because there aren't really any restaurant or food options, one time we did order through Uber eats and had it delivered straight to the airport. The only thing is we had to get out of our gate and redo TSA with the food. They almost didn't let us pass the food through since it was a curry (liquid). I definitely recommend not ordering anything liquid (soup ramen, curries) since they will most likely not let you through with it or you'll have to eat it before you go through TSA. Since we had a late flight that time, it was perfect being able to eat our food and fly on a full and happy stomach. I've flown with frontier and breeze through this airport and out of the two breeze has been the true breeze :p Bottom line, I totally recommend this airport, it's so small, easy and it makes your travel experience pretty seamless.

Yelp
First time traveling through this airport. It's an hour away from where I live and it was not too bad of a drive. I don't have to deal with the traffic and pay for awful amount of tolls if I need to go to JFK or LGA. It's a very small airport so it will only take you less than 30 mins to finish check in counter and pass through TSA security. Check in counter staff were nice and TSA people were professional and friendly. Am I still in New York? Lol. The food inside the airport although there's not much of an option were rather cheap. Long term parking is only 12$/day. I love how quiet and peaceful this airport is. Would travel here again if I need to.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
I don't think I've ever given an airport a positive review so this is a pleasant surprise. Amazing experience. This airport has reasonably priced flights and is small enough to be no nonsense in every aspect. Driving here from the city is no trouble, parking is cheap safe and easy, airport food is reasonable and security was professional. I would fly out of here again 100%.
google avatar

Yelp
At only an hour's drive from our North Jersey home Stewart is extremely convenient for travel to Southwest Florida. Allegiant air has a hub here and they offer flights to Punta Gorda on Mondays and Fridays from here. Travel to and from the airport is non stressful, no tolls or traffic jams to deal with. We got here early for our flight and were ushered through TSA check in a blink of an eye. Agents here are super friendly and with only two scheduled flights departing this evening everyone was super relaxed. There's a snack store serving hot and cold sandwiches along with a small bar serving wine and beers. They have 8 gates for arrivals and departures. Very nice local airport without the hassle and people lines of the much larger ones.
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
This little 6 gate airport is very user friendly! Passing through security was a breeze and friendly agents help ease the angst! Other perks: *Euro Cafe opens at 4:30 a.m and closes after the last flight leaves. They do sell limited choices of beer and wine, too. *Hudson News offers your airport basics-reading material, snacks AND cocktails. *Small duty free shop. *Easy access to rent-a-car services. *Clean

Yelp
So there's plenty of parking, but we had issues getting a parking ticket - even tried both. Security kinda snails along but they were only running two lanes and there were tons of people. Once through, there weren't many people for any flight. And there's one center food place for snacks, food, and beer/wine. I got the $18 hamburger, fries, and draft beer deal and it came so quickly. Burger comes with lettuce, tomato, and pickles. It's a burger that's precooked and then warmed, so are the fries. But the fries came out crispy and the burger was well enough. There is also a decent condiment station to the left of the service area.
google avatar

Carolyn F.

Yelp
As always, limited staff. They all wear multiple "hats" do be kind to them. The same agent who checks you in at the desk may also be the one checking you in at the gate AND may emend be the one flagging the plane on the tarmac. Friendliness is still their best asset.
google avatar

Molly T.

Yelp
Airline lost my suitcase, I was told "it's not my problem, it's the airline " and I was hung up on after I was told I was holding up the phone. Woman on the phone could care less about the fact my family jewelry was missing, was more upset I was holding up her phone line. Good luck with luggage they were absolutely heartless,
google avatar

Stephen B.

Yelp
First time at this airport. Easy to find if you have GPS. Parking is easy with the Long Term Parking right next to the terminal building. Cost $10 daily. Check in and security seem both courteous and sufficient. Once through security there are 5 departures gates. Also a small commercial area with usual drinks, snacks, gifts, books and papers. The airport, although small, appears to be well kept and bustling with activity.

Robert S.

Yelp
Better than JFK or LaGuardia any day of the week. If you can make your flight from here, I would say take it.
google avatar

Tammy H.

Yelp
Small cute airport. Too bad Frontier is only seasonal to NC. We weren't able to fly out due to some issue. I'd frequent the airport again.
google avatar

Cheryl M.

Yelp
Not too much to say about this sleepy little airport. It's very small but easy to get in and out of. There's a small cafe where you can get a bite to eat. There's a newsstand type store connected to it where you can get the usual stuff you find at an airport. Bathrooms were clean. Small planes fly in and out of here but it's quick and efficient. Glad it's here. Short trip from here to Philly.

Yelp
I have been here a few times to pick up family flying into Stewart Airport. This airport has slowly evolved into a very busy place. I remember coming here when it wasn't so busy. This place used to be some sort of military base which closed down a long time ago. Driving to the airport we used to see abandoned old barracks. It seems like they took them all down. This airport is not crazy busy like the other large airports but it is slowly getting there. The best thing about this airport now is how easy it is to track a flight so that we can plan exactly when to come in to pick people up and to get out without any hassles. I literally have gone inside a few times only when flights are late and its a really nice clean airport. I never feel stressed when I get here its still a pleasure coming here for now.
google avatar

Jeffrey H.

Yelp
I have been flying out of Stewart for 5 years now and in that time I have seen it change over time. They have added better signage, more chairs, really cleaned it up as polished it off overall. Airline wise American Airlines, Delta and JetBlue are the three I use in my travel. They usually have reasonable rates when one factors in travel, tolls, parking at the other NY airports. This one for the time I save, $10 a day parking it's tough to beat plus it isn't a nightmare picking people up or dropping them off. If you have never been give it a try this little airport will pleasantly surprise you.
google avatar

Keemy U.

Yelp
This airport is pretty good. It's very small and they have nonstop flights to Europe! It is not as intense as the bigger airports. The staff are friendly, helpful, and relaxed. It is far and you will have to drive or you can take a bus from the city. They have a small food section with a knock off Five Guys and a small liquor/candy section. There's plenty of seats but not enough sockets to charge phones. The lines move pretty fast even though there's not many workers. The bathrooms are clean and TSA is cool. The parking lot was pretty full and it's hard to find parking and you can pay to park for about up to a week.
google avatar

Meg B.

Yelp
This is a great airport with low-traffic compared to others in the NYC area such as JFK and LaGuardia. I arrived three hours ahead of time for an international flight (which is what's typically recommended), was checked in and through security in 30 minutes and left with an hour and a half to spare until boarding. It's a smaller airport so amenities and food selection are minimal but I'll take low stress travel over fancy airport food any day!
google avatar

Yelp
Honestly I had no idea this airport existed until this 737 Max 8 fiasco. I am thankful Norwegian Air didn't strand everyone in Europe, but provided rescue flights to get everyone back home. We landed at sunset and although not sitting near a window on the plane could see this is a very rural flight line. We had to wait just a short time for a parking position to open up, then the sky bridge was quickly put in place. When exiting, we passed a small area with food, then it was immediately through security (that spot where once you pass it, you can't go back) and on to luggage pick up. It did take a while for luggage to start coming through the carousel, and then we had a three and a half hour bus ride back to the airport we were supposed to land at, but the airport had plenty of people there to help all us weary, out of place, travelers find our luggage and the buses we were supposed to take. (There were three buses, each going to a different states.) The restrooms by the luggage carousel were clean and there is a water fountain and a bottle refill there as well. One passenger even found an outlet to charge her cell phone. This location reminds me of my local airport about 30 years ago. Small, one level, easy to get in and out of. If you are one who does not care for the stress of driving into NY or NJ to catch a flight, it would definitely be worth a drive up here for a much less stressful travel experience.

Yelp
SPEED TRAP ALERT: If you are coming into or exiting the airport from Highway 84 - Be aware of speed limit that goes from 55 to 45 to 35 and Police Cars that are patiently waiting for violators. Sp regardless of how late you are to your flight - follow 35 Miles an hour signs. PARKING Construction Confusion - Short Term and Long Term Entrances: Parking lot checkout is under construction and chaotic when checking out. ALSO MAKE SURE YOU ENTER SHORT TERM PARKING if dropping or picking someone up, because if you go into long term parking - the attendant told us there was no longer the 15 minute grace period they have always had and they will charge you $10.
google avatar

Yelp
This airport is a excellent choice when traveling. It small and convenient, but the practicality of a major airport. Getting there, for those whos 1st time it is, you almost hace a worried look, like where is this airport... then out of no where, SWF airport, looking all small and cute. Arrivals and Departures are all in the same level, check in is a breeze, even at its "peek" checked in within 10 mins. and through TSA security within another 5 mins. Over all, airport is so convenient. Would recommend to anyone traveling overseas or even domestic. Food inside airport is not the best. Quiznos is located outside security. A generic coffee and "newsstand" is available both outside and inside security. Def prepare for those thinking they're going to eat before flight.

Yelp
This airport is an hour and a half from where I live (Albany, NY) but is well worth the trip if you are looking to save some money on a trip to Europe. My fiancé and I were able to get flights to Ireland on Norwegian airlines for a few hundred less than a direct flight out of Albany international. The airport is small. Only a handful of gates and a bit run down but still well maintained. They don't take terribly long to check in, and security, while predictably frustrating at times, like when they require me to take out a tablet and Nintendo switch and passport and put them in separate containers for scanning when usually laptops are the concern. However, they get you through quickly, have clean bathrooms, a nice duty free store with a wide selection of alcohol and candy, and free WiFi. They also have rating buttons at each stage of the airport check in to bathrooms where you press a :) :/ :( button to instantly rate your experience. One gripe I had was carry on luggage that is fine for domestic flights needed to be weighed and checked which prolonged my time picking it up and checking it in. Another was I could not virtually check in on a app. Other than that, the airport is just fine and you endure much less traffic to get their from Albany than JFK.
google avatar

Kevin J.

Yelp
Okay so I decided to take a different route into southwest Florida this time around. After a nice hour and half drive to what use to be known as stewards Air Force base now stewards international airport, you come upon and fairly remolded building with very limited parking. Once inside there is a quizno and a take with counter, along with quite a few airlines and some that fly the Netherlands. Some confusion was happening with what line was tsa and what line was the airlines, this airline I was trying was a no frills ala cart airline, yes you pay for everything from your priority seating to your carryon to check in luggage to your snack. But the flight was hundreds less then the cheap national airline I usually take. I only have one complaint and that's not of the airport workers but of the clients flying , I know sometime it's stressful to fly but to complain from start to finish of your flight and carry on like your privilege, then buy your own airplane or go private.

Yelp
In reviewing this airport, a healthy trip north of NYC I have to immediately propel it into positive territory due to the fact that I was most pleasantly surprised that I got BOTH in AND out of this place with relative ease on both corresponding legs of my recent experiment with flying Norwegian Airs budget line of flights out of here to points in Scotland and Ireland, in my case this time a jaunt in and out of Edinburgh. Going into the trip getting up there was definitely the biggest source of agita but astonishingly the trip up in the mid afternoon consisted of a downright bucolic EXPRESS train to Beacon from Grand Central, meaning Beacon was the next stop after the perfunctory 125 st stop uptown, making the trip in an astonishingly quick 1 hour and five minutes. Oh yeah and the trip was pretty much entirely a gorgeous cruise directly alongside the mighty and magnificent Hudson, recalling ever so slightly to mind the enchanting Amtrak train I took up along the coast of California a few years back. Once I arrived at Beacon station I was able to summon up a Uber in under 5 minutes, which turned out to he a friendly and engaging local who whisked me to the airport in under 10 minutes time for something like 5 bucks. On the way back, clearing thru customs after 9pm and a bit nervous bout the train situation heading back in on a Sunday night as opposed to weekday afternoon up I opted to yet another bold experiment and opted for the shuttle bus to Port Authority for the fair seeming sum of 20 dollars. It proved quite fair indeed as we were blessed by the traffic gods and arrived in a respectable hour and a half flat. Now that I have hopefully eased anyones concerns about traveling to this relatively obscure airport for the promise of bargain basement fares, I want to make sure to keep everyones expectations right in line. Once I arrived here I found the infrastructure to be pretty much as bare bones as those Norwegian flights proved to be (more on that later). Theres pretty much nothing at all in terms of food options and retail options beyond the bare minimum you might suggest in a sub regional airport. Any hopes of quicker than usual security clearance on the way out or passage thru customs in the way back due to the minuscule size of the airport and crowds traveling thru it compared to JFK proved futile, perhaps owing to the scarcity of employees or lower level of training and service, both most loathsome rituals wound up taking at least as long as they would have in that horror show.
google avatar

Mikey V.

Yelp
I've never felt compelled to rate an airport...but this place has tons of flights on Norwegian, super awesome staff, easy check-in, security and $7 20 oz Goose Islands (made this Chicagoan super happy!). I think I'm in love!
google avatar

Kay H.

Yelp
We had an 8 hour layover here. There is limited food, so make sure you bring snacks. Quiznos and a Hudson News (don't eat here see other review) before security, a deli after security. Other cons: we had to exit the plane outside in the rain, there is VERY little seating if you have a layover -12 seats to be exact, they will not let you sit/lay on the floor bc it "looks bad". Pros: bathrooms were clean and our flight out of here was priced nicely.
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
Small, stress free airport. It took less than 10 minutes from the time I parked my car to the time I was sitting, waiting at the gate. I parked in the long term parking lot which is right in front of the terminal and very large. Parking cost me $25 for 3 days, Friday through Sunday. I'm not sure what the exact rates are, it didn't say on the receipt. The security line is a single line but there were no other flights other than my JetBlue flight to FLL going out so it was very quick with only two people in front of me. They participate in TSA precheck. I have it through Global Entry so they announce how great you are that you don't need to take off your shoes or jacket. I wish there were more people in line to enviously admire my elite Precheck status. Regarding food, there is a Quiznos before security and a cafe thing immediately after. That's all. I'm a fan of Quizno's food but not their prices. However given the usual crazy airport food prices, I'd give it a try here if I was hungry. This is a small terminal with only about 7 gates. You can't get lost. Stewart is an active military base so the runway accommodates large aircraft. There was no wait to take off. Returning here I didn't have any checked bags but the ground crew was outside waiting as we pulled up. I saw them offloading bags as I entered the terminal so I can imagine the baggage claim is quick. I definitely prefer to fly out of Stewart whenever possible from now on.
google avatar

Laurie I.

Yelp
Such a nice little airport, short security line and no large crowds. Wish they ah one restaurant as delayed flights caused the food line for hot dogs to reach 50. But it was clean and comfortable and a great location. Car rentals are right outside and easy return. Turn off the engine and carry in the keys
google avatar

Scott M.

Yelp
The only major complaint I have about this airport is that there are no direct flights to/from DFW or Love Field. But it is a small, reliable airport so if you don't mind changing planes somewhere you will enjoy spending little time exiting the airport. Most recent excursion: plane landed 3:01, according to schedule exit airport 3:15 Shorter lines (if any) than bigger airports for ticketing and security, and usually no hassles overall for departing flights. But since it is a smaller airport the convenience shops or food selection is equally minimal. One of those times where those big airports for the connecting flight come in handy .... In some ways it's a tradeoff but as far as flying is concerned, all good. Just be prepared to hop on a propeller plane, that's how they roll.
google avatar

Jimmy J.

Yelp
This place is THE NUTS!!! After flying from JFK on a previous trip, I had sworn off NY airports. My companion suggested we take a flight from Stewart to Scotland. I was hesitant, but agreed. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this airport was the most UNCROWDED and laid back airport I have ever been to! We went through security very quickly, and easily. The shops and restaurants are very limited, but everything we needed was there. I would certainly not hesitate to use this airport again! In fact, I look forward to it!
google avatar

Edward G.

Yelp
It would be five stars. It really would. Every single person we interacted with, from the TSA Agents currently working without pay to the people serving the food and drinks (also currently working without pay) were WONDERFUL. But, and this is a big "but," they've got a prominent display of Trump-branded candy bars and stuff in the concession area. One star, Stewart. Do right by the people who work in your airport. Get rid of that disgraceful, disgusting display.
google avatar

Sabrina D.

Yelp
Do not get a hot pretzel from Euro Cafe here!! They put out a few that are "6 months old" and are "just for show" and grab them out of the freezer, run them under water and stick salt on them and MICROWAVE them, meanwhile there displayed all pretty and "hot and fresh", but the airport is nice and the other staff are friendly, but that one lady has got to go

Ginna Q.

Yelp
My first time at Stewart Airport was so incredible! I was the only person in the airport for 1 hour, that's wasn't an employee! Everyone was so professional, helpful, understanding , patience and kind gave me excellent directions where my gate was or if I liked coffee or breakfast upstairs . I am so amazed how my experience was a wonderful one . This Tuesday will be my second time in the airport. My flight trip was very delightful. Thank you Stewart and Frontier Airlines God Bless all you caring people.
google avatar

Danilda S.

Yelp
This is a small airport compared to the city 's airports, but I love this airport because there are never, ever, ever lines for check-in or TSA screening. Don't let size fool you, because there are international flights out of here and many direct flights to major hubs. There are rental car companies available, there is a Quiznos, two stand stores, a food stand on the waiting area and taxi service but I'm not sure about public transportation. There are eight gates available, but some of the gates you have to walk down the stairs to board the plane. The airport is very, very clean and you are able to actually listen to the music from the speakers. There are charging stations and plugs to charge your electronics. One downside is that it is not open 24 hrs as most major airports are.
google avatar

Missy P.

Yelp
Updated to 5 stars because who the hell leaves negative yelp reviews? Jerks do, that's who.
google avatar

Marie M.

Yelp
Easy long term parking. Checkin was a breeze- as we were about 2 hours early- as recommended. Our flight was the only one that day- would travel to this airport again as it was hassel free. Word of advice in terms of food options very limited. Suggest bringing your own food / snacks to eat & buying drinks here. There is a snack & 'cafe' place but dont expect a large selection. Our return trip was just as easy to get to baggage claim & get out of long term parking.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing day to see the precision of the the US military. Gates open at 9 show starts at 12. If u get there at 10:30 u will beat a lot of traffic. I would also leave the grounds right after the main event to beat the traffic. Food was totally banging and beer was ice cold. If you know the weather will be good buy the tickets online before going. Easier to get in and out of than McGuire (but that one is freee which is cool). Bring a water, chairs, sunblock, and ear plugs. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Paul M.

Yelp
First time in and out of this airport. If it weren't for the proximity to my job site this week I wouldn't have used this airport, but alas... My only complaint... why have so many cell phone charging stations (5) in the Gate 6,7,8 area and not ONE of them was operational. They were plugged in. Lights were on in the gate area(inferring there was no circuit breaker blown). Had to plug into a wall plug down that the end of the concourse away from my gate. Had 15 people at the gate and 6 were vying for charging time.
google avatar

Tom B.

Yelp
Airport is clean, calm and quick to get through. My complaint is about the rental car return. Due to construction it has been moved and the signage is terrible. No designated spot for your rental company. It's not covered so I had to walk 1/4 mile in the rain after parking my car.
google avatar

Dana F.

Yelp
Just arrived back to the US. Apparently 'they' lost the key for Global Entry and ZERO service to take care of Global Entry holders. I'm ashamed to be from the Hudson Valley and call this an International Airport! Never again!!!!
google avatar

Lucia D.

Yelp
Only a few flights per day. Easy in and out. Pick up your rental while waiting for your luggage. Planes are smaller but flight was good and easy.
google avatar

Rev C.

Yelp
I may never fly LGA or JFK again. Parked a few steps from the terminal door. Free candy at Delta check in. No one in line at check-in or security. Only lounge / restaurant is also the convenience store and the pilot's lounge and craft beer in solo cups. Eat before you arrive. Only option is Quizno's before security.

Yelp
I travel a lot. TSA in Stewart is exceptional. Friendly with a smile. Makes traveling a pleasure when you meet people like Sarah Murphy. Thanks for a good morning!
google avatar

Yelp
Real nice clean small airport. No lines, friendly tsa staff. Would have given you 5 stars if there had been more food choices.
google avatar

Anwesha C.

Yelp
I flew into Stewart International Airport from Belfast, U.K. with Norwegian and was out of the airport in record time. A short walk from the flight to the border control, pick up your luggage and another short walk and you are out of the airport. This airport has free parking for anyone who is coming to pick you up, or drop you off and every flight is served by a connecting bus which goes into NYC and it is 20 USD per person one way. After the horrible experiences at JFK, this airport was a breeze.

Yelp
Stewart is my Go-To airport for east coast flights. The airport is very small. for some flights a bit over priced but you are paying for the convince of a fast check in and not a lot of people at the airport or the flight stewart Airport flys direct to a good amount of east coast airports and flys to all the main connector HUB airports. If you are flying to the west coast you will have a connector flight. Most of the jets out of here are 50 seaters. It is great to fly out of here if you want to fly direct to FL jetblue flys 3 times a week to Fl around 10am. I picked my friends sister up here from west virginia she was on spring break and flew from morgantown. she had to stop in phili before landing at stewart. she got in around midnight so some of the flights i wish could be direct. The location is great, there is a military base on the back end of stewart. the big military planes have left but you can still hear alot of military aircraft at night. the run was is the second longest on the east coast. It is the backup landing for the Space shuttle. The staff has been fine. we had to ship our dog down south. In order for a dog to fly you have to have a trained certified person at the airport for boarding the dog. we called the airport before hand they told us the certified person was in today. We booked the flight. When we got to the airport stewart told us we have to come back tomorrow when that person gets in. I was very annoyed. my brother had to drive the dog to newark airport because of there mistake. the airport is small you can see the whole airport it is 1 building. as far as the food goes there is a sub shop. one of my friends who works there told me they were talking about a subway and a wendys being put in the airport. If you are the kind of person that cant go without food def bring a snack with you. I will continue to fly out of this airport. I do with they had more options direct to FL. overall $130 each way to FL isnt bad. flying to some airports are really overpriced out of stewart. sometimes i go to westchester or newark because it is still cheaper to drive the 45 mins to catch a flight than to pay locally. overall i will be flying back here for florida. spring training and to ATL PROS: - Location - direct flights to florida CONS: -overpriced for some locations - the DOG thing

Yelp
I've flown in and out of every airport in NYC, and today is my first experience in Stewart. Oh my god, if I could choose this airport every time, I would! Easy $20 bus from the city, about a two hour drive depending on traffic. Terminal here is small, clean, and incredibly friendly. Speedy check-in and the fastest security line I've been through since flying through Nebraska! Thanks, Stewart, for making my time here pleasant and easy.

Yelp
Stewart is a small airport and I get that TSA wants to be EXTRA thorough but today was ridiculous. I'm crew and I don't have to adhere to the same liquid rules as other passengers. The 2 Ancient and bitter old women took way to long with passengers who had a 6 am flight. They were unbelievably rude but that's TSA for you.

Yelp
I just ordered the combo at the Euro Café, the beer was good the fries were cold and not very tasty and the chicken was filled with some sort of filler, absolutely terrible, Mc Donalds chicken would have been more appetizing. Anyhow went up to complain, not exactly very welcoming and concerned, was told to come back in 10 mins. Went back around 10 mins the fries were still not very warm, the guy said he has been calling my name .... I think ... but he did not know my name? The manager came and did offer compensation but all I wanted was some French fries that was tasty with good chicken. Terrible experience but maybe the think they can serve up any crap to tourists visiting. I shall make a complaint to the heath board, maybe they can become more customer orientated which I have experienced all over the USA. Sean

Yelp
Tiny airport! Quiznos & Euro Cafe are the only good options. Restroom is large & clean. No need to get there too early. TSA was super fast & efficient!

Yelp
Staff are lovely and efficient, but it's so so so poorly serviced. The "duty free" carries about 25 items all of which cost more than on the high street somehow, and the only cafe is wildly over priced even by airport standards and the food is utterly vile. Again, staff are great, and the only reason the airport scrapes up from a one star
