You get what you pay for. In this case, what you're getting is a satisfactory treatment with good technicians and the best laser on the market. New You Laser offers Candela laser treatments which are said to be the best in the industry. Many other laser places will offer a different brand or an IPL laser which does not deliver permanent results. I found New You by searching for the Candela laser first, and then selecting which one i'd go to by package costs. Their office is not the prettiest, but I figured that as long as I was being treated with a great laser, it would be worth it. New You offered the best prices BY FAR, which usually is a red flag and signifies poor quality. Since I knew I would be getting treatment with the best laser out there, I was confident to book my sessions.
I met with the owner, Linda, who explained the process to me and the breakdown of the prices. I liked that she was honest with what I did and did not need. I never felt like she was trying to oversell anything. She said that my combination of skin color and hair color made me a perfect candidate for laser, and that I would come out looking like a smooth baby dolphin. SOLD!
The woman at the front desk helped me schedule my first appointment and collected my first payment. Throughout my whole experience at New You, she has always been very kind and professional. She is a breath of fresh air every time.
After my first treatment, I panicked to find hair growing days after my treatment. It wasn't after a few days had passed that I realized that the hair I shaved had to continue coming to the surface before they would gently fall out. Amazing, I loved it. I saw results right away and was instantly happy with my decision. As i continued with my sessions, I noticed that more time went by before i saw regrowth. I decided not to shave at all between by sessions so that I could really get an idea of how I was progressing.
As the treatments went on, I noticed varying amounts of hair growth, not so much a progression. I was happy with the results but I predicted that after the six week period, I'd see more hair growth. They are very strict with appointments and cancellations and book up very quickly. There were times that I could not get an appointment at the 6 week mark, and i'd grow more hair. I'm thinking this was partly due to switching technicians all the time, and I also felt that I wasn't getting the correct settings every time. Some times it hurt a lot, some times I barely felt it. I know now that many people do not see permanent results even after 6 sessions. It typically takes 12 sessions or more. Since my final treatment, I have seen total regrowth. In some places, the growth is much less than I began with. In others, it was made much worse. In places where my hair used to grow soft and thin, I now have thick coarse hairs. I was treated on my chin because I had a few hairs on my chin but was treated on the entire jaw line. I didn't realize there were any risks, but I now have thick hair growth on my jaw and neck that I have NEVER HAD before. It was not until after I was treated that I knew that some people are at risk for paradoxical hypertrichosis and would experience more hair growth. Apparently my skin color and type is prone. Going forward, I am hesitant to continue with laser at New You. I cannot confidently say that I trust their practice and I wouldn't doubt that they didn't treat me to their best ability so that I would purchase more sessions. That said, I still think I was treated with a good laser and the price was unbeatable. I have friends who are continuing laser at New You because they did not experience overgrowth or any negativity. I will have to continue my laser elsewhere and now get electrolysis on my new, exciting beard issue.
