I really enjoyed my stay here, it was unique and enjoyable plus the staff were kind and accomodating. It was noisy in the area but it was calm inside. I love the courtyard. The ceilings are low but the rooms are charming. The renovations are very well done and everything is extremely clean.

Wonderful authentic Newari house complex. (watch your head) Courtyard was beautiful, staff was helpful, food was ample, love their mission. Closes early, but so does Patan. Generally only moderate noise at worst.(no avoiding that) Shower drains and dries quickly, but will wet room during use.

Right from being presented our beautiful juice in the courtyard, to climbing the narrow stairs to our centuries old room (mind your head if you're over 5.5!) The experience offered by this social enterprise guest house was exceptional. The bed was comfy, the decor gorgeous , the young staff attentive and the breakfast was delicious. Totally recommend staying here

Beautiful hotel in a XVII century Nepali home, restored with great care. It is a privilege to be able to stay in a place like this, every corner is exquisitely decorated and a testimony to life in the valley hundreds of years ago. Staying in it feels like travelling back in time. Sitting in the courtyard for breakfast is a delight. The staff is attentive and friendly. Breakfast is individually prepared, simple but complete. The location is excellent: a 3 minute walk from Patan Durbar Square which is an absolute wonder. My room was low ceilinged but very large, with two rooms and a full bathroom, tastefully decorated.|Rooms that head onto the street are a bit loud due to motorbike traffic so ask for those opening into the courtyard. An experince not to be missed.

A beautiful place to stay, the rooms are cosy. The whole atmosphere is very nice and durbar square is around the corner. Patan is also the best place to stay when visiting Kathmandu, just a few minutes by taxi but very relaxed compared to Kathmandu.

What a special stay! Highly recommend. Very charming, clean, and well kept. One of my favorite and most unique places I’ve stayed. Staff was just lovely, very welcoming and friendly. Such a great atmosphere. Ended up extending my stay several nights. The location is perfect. Laid back area with beautiful square nearby. Favorite part of the city.

Stay here!! Hard to beat this level of quality for the price. I stayed in a low room ceiling, I’m 5’8” it was just enough head space and so charming. Really clean, beautiful, and comfortable. Best bed I’ve found so far in Nepal. Outstanding friendly service. I’m gluten free and veg and the breakfasts were great. I stayed for 8 days and felt so comfortable. Patan is much nicer to stay than Kathmandu and such a cheap, easy taxi ride from anywhere you want to go. Tons of great restaurants in sanepa which is just a 20 mins walk away. Such a lovely hotel and a great social enterprise.

I've stayed at Newa Chen both times I've visited Kathmandu. It truly is a hidden gem in Patan. The guest house is located near the airport, so it's a much shorter ride than going all the way out to Thamel. You're located just meters from Patan Durbar Square. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Breakfasts are filling and come with a variety of choices. Yes, the ceilings are low and I've hit my head from time to time on a roof pillar in the room, but it's part of the charm while staying at such an old and unique guesthouse. Yes, the room off the square can be noisy because there' a temple right outside and people ring the bell early in the morning. Welcome to Nepal and try bringing ear plugs. And yes, some mornings I may not have had very hot water. But again, welcome to Nepal, where a lot of water is solar heated. If you want sterile modernity, I'm sure you can find a big box Holiday Inn up in Thamel more to your liking. If not and you want a true Nepalese experience, stay here.
