This is the 4th time we've visited this restaurant in 3 weeks. As a newar, believe me when I say the food is authentic and on point (yet not too spicy that you can enjoy it, can ask for spicy achar if u prefer spicier food)
- The buff choila, buff momo, buff samay baji, bara, etc. are some of our all time favorites.
- If you enjoy drinks + meat, they have some amazing cocktails and a variety meat snacks that go very well like bhutun, pangra, choila, etc.
- We've also tried the huge newa nakha platter $100 and if you're going with a group of 6+ people, it is a must try as it has so many amazing variety of dishes. It is an absolute steal deal for the the amount of food.
I am a very pickyyyy eater when it comes to nepali food, and a lot of places has disappointed me when it comes to buff choila. Literally no one can get it right!!! But damn, this place just blew my mind N the fact that I just came back from Kathmandu visit, that taste of good marinated choila was still fresh in my mind so I'm not even exaggerating.
Can't believe we could get all these in the heart of NYC. I felt like I was in Kathmandu in my grandmas home suddenly. So proud to be able to share the unique pallet of food, that's different than other south Asian food, with friends that are from different ethnicities or races. This place won't disappoint, especially after having tried so many famous nepali restaurants like phayul, gorkhali, bajey ko sekuwa, etc. this is still better and this is as authentic and tasty as it gets. Also, consistent every single time.
PS also love the Newari music in the background and the decor inside
Suggestion to the chef/owner: Newari food is mostly expected to be super spicy and some people find this food a little mild. I personally think the spice level is perfect for me. But you might want to consider asking the customers for spice level, at least for some food like choila, achar, etc. May need a mild medium hot levels.
