We had a fantastic experience. The hotel is very quaint. The rooms were comfortable. The front desk staff were excellent. They helped with luggage and provided delicious restaurant recommendations. The location is ideal. Newbury Street is full of fun restaurants and shops. Walking distance to so many things.

Google
A lovely European style hotel with great access to Newbury St. shops and restaurants, particularly La Voile, immediately below the hotel. This hotel was recommended to me by a friend. We will definitely stay there again and will recommend it to friends.

This hotel is so cute! It is right in the middle of a cute shopping area with so many great restaurants, too! The room was so cozy, clean and perfect! They have the filtered water, coffee and tea readily available downstairs. I was only here 1 night, I wish I was able to spend the whole week here!

Google
This is a really charming hotel with helpful, friendly front desk personnel. The hotel is in an excellent location on Newbury - near shopping, restaurants, the public garden, library and transportation. The rooms are quaint, updated and clean, bed is comfortable, and the Lavazza espresso machine in the lobby makes one of the best cappuccinos! The parking behind the building is super convenient and reasonable for the area. We’ve stayed in several places in Boston and this is our favorite!

Google
Jumping on here to thank Brett from the front desk. I accidentally left my MacBook charging in the lobby and didn’t realise until I was already at the airport. Brett went above and beyond and personally drove it out to me at the airport, which I can’t thank him enough for. On top of that, the hotel itself is fantastic, excellent location, great rooms, and an amazing team. Thank you so much Brett and the entire team.

Google
Such a gem of a place! If you come to Boston this boutique inn is a fabulous place to stay. It is ideally situated on Newbury Street so getting to a variety of places is easy. The service is outstanding; they have real, brewed coffee rather than throwing a Keurig in the room. I stayed here two weeks ago for several nights; this was my second visit. From now on this will be my go to for staying in Boston.

Google
We wanted our last night in Boston to be at a quiet, small, independent place with character and charm, preferably on Newbury Street. We got everything we wanted with the Newbury Guest House. It has character, the staff is great, and Newbury St. is right out the front door. Our “Luxury King Room with a view” was just that and it was at a great rate. The Newbury Guest House is now our go-to place for our future trips to Boston.

Google
Great weekend stay at this beautiful boutique hotel. Staff was so amazing and friendly. Rooms were well appointed and very comfortable, lobby was quaint with some cozy seating and free coffee, tea, hot chocolate. Super WIFI connection, which I needed for a few hours one day to login to work. Place was so cute and conveniently located on Newbury Street, smack in the middle of everything, great restaurants and shops all around. Rates are reasonable (for Boston) and I enjoyed staying here so much better than the large scale hotels that are over priced and so inpersonable. They do have parking for one car at a daily rate of about $25 per day, but I believe you do need to let them know ahead of time. Conveniently located to the Universities, Back Bay Station, Boston Public Library, Beacon Hill, Chinatown, Wang Theatre, Little Italy. We loved it so much, we booked our stay in April for our daughter’s college graduation!

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay here! We stayed for 2 nights, perfectly located in the Back Bay part of Boston. We were able to walk easily to almost everything (Fenway Park 20 min walk) (Boston CommonGrounds/Park was 15 mins). There is a small parking lot in the alley for $30 parking per day. Super easy access to tons of restaurants and shops near. The staff were all super nice and the room itself was really nice. It was a little warm/hard to cool off the room (I'd pack a mini fan just in case during the summer) but otherwise we really enjoyed !

Yelp
Amazing spot close to everything in Back Bay. Staff is friendly and available 24 hours. They offer off street paid parking which is rare. The beds are big and comfy! They offer free and paid for drinks.

Yelp
The room I requested a month ago isn't available and it's ok but I had to request to change room because AC isn't working. My first night is terrible only because of the room temperature. I've spoke to the receptionist next morning and Mirabella made sure my next nights will be comfortable. Alex and Mirabella are both awesome. The stay is 10/10. Location and staff are great! I can't wait to book with them again.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place to stay for your Boston visit this is it! Just stayed here for the past 5 nights and everything was great! The location was perfect on a beautiful street with many great options for breakfast, lunch and dinner and especially people watching. The room was great! If you're visiting the Boston area I would highly recommend the Newbury Guest House to anyone. I would like to mention the staff here as well. Mark was over accommodating and made sure we had the best experience and a beautiful room as well and because of how kind he was we absolutely did! Brett is also great and very nice and helped us enjoy our experience as well. Thank you guys for everything. We will be back!

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay. The front desk staff held our bags after we got in dreadfully early after a long red eye flight. They even had our room ready a couple hours early. Housekeeping was attentive and the room was comfortable. The front area was pleasant and the sparkling water dispenser was an added touch. Only cons were I wish the bathroom had towel hooks or bars, there was a small bar that only fit one.

Yelp
Great location, great staff. Beds super comfy. Easy to get to and get to everywhere else. Free bus from airport dropped us off 2 blocks away, $3 back. That was the only public transportation we needed to use locally. Everywhere else we could walk to and we walked everywhere! Great for a friends' weekend in Boston.

Yelp
Great location but don't blink, you might miss it. Blends into the other shops. Very nice inside. Great front window for sitting and watching the street. Room was quite comfortable and the staff was exceptionally friendly. Unfortunately some construction noise in the back during our stay but that's not the hotel's fault. Didn't try the attached restaurant because that didn't appeal to us but plenty around and walkable. Would most certainly go back and hope to do so.

Yelp
Lovely spot on Newbury Street. Charming, quiet. The good: 1. Location can't be beat. It's walking distance to everything you'd want to do in Boston, as well as surrounded by shops, restaurants and boutiques to explore. 2. The Lavazza espresso machine in the lobby is a nice perk. The not so good: 1. We were here in what is most likely an uncharacteristically warm week, but the AC never quite cooled our room. When we brought it to their attention, including the fact that condensation was actively cascading down the wall from the vent, no one did anything about it. 2. The mattress in this room is dreadfully hard. The actively bad: 1. Check in. The front desk attendant refused to let us into a room for 3 hours, even though I requested an early check in a month prior via email. Ok. So we left our bags and went out for lunch. After coming back an hour+ later, it was still not available. We subsequently watched 3 other parties check into rooms, one that was the same type as ours. We would have been happy to pay for an upgrade, however zero solutions were offered. When we finally did get into a room, it was about 95 degrees in there adding insult to injury. Clearly no one had stayed there or done anything in there that day with that level of heat. It's very poor customer service and due to this alone we would not stay here again or recommend it. The terrifying: 1. When grabbing a towel in the bathroom, a giant, many legged creature emerged. I don't know what kind of bug it was, but yikes.

Yelp
Great, centrally located place to stay in the heart of Back Bay! We stayed for just one night, but we wish we could have stayed longer. Despite being right on Newbury Street, the rooms were incredibly quiet and dark. The rooms were spacious, too, and the hotel staff was very courteous. Easy to get from here to almost anywhere in Boston. Attached to the hotel is a wine bar and restaurant, which we also highly recommend. All told, this hotel is one of the best hidden gems in Boston!

Yelp
Had a great stay here! The location was so convenient and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Rooms were clean and we had a nice view of Newbury St.

Yelp
A neat little hotel which featured a great location and a very comfortable night's sleep. The bed was very comfortable. Check in was smooth, although they didn't have any rooms available when I arrived, but I had an early flight in. They also were not able to do any late check outs (probably due to people like me arriving early all the time) and their small inventory of rooms. While the elevator was out of service when I stayed here in Dec 2017, it wasn't a big deal as the guest house only has a few floors. I wish they had coffeemakers in the rooms, sure there is 24/7 coffee downstairs, but it's nice to be able to brew it inside the rooms too. The tea selection downstairs was very basic too and wouldn't please most tea lovers, but all in all - a comfortable bed, good shower pressure and nice, basic rooms give this place a solid 4-stars.

Yelp
Here's the thing: if you're a heavy sleeper who has no need to be in their hotel room when they're traveling except to pass out for a couple hours before rallying... Newbury Guest House is for you. Especially since it's situated in the extremely charming Back Bay area of Boston. Who wouldn't want to be in such a desirable and walkable area? Unfortunately, there's a lot to be desired otherwise. Having the elevator be broken and having to truck up and down multiple flights of narrow New England stairs wasn't all that fun. Having a room so small that I shoulder slammed into the mounted TV every time I walked around the bed wasn't all that fun. Hearing literally every.single.thing happening in both rooms next to mine all.night.long wasn't all that fun. Having a toilet that didn't seem to want to flush properly wasn't all that fun. Having a bed that was partially broken so it squeaked and had a pretty steep lean to it wasn't that fun. But! They had parking, and it seems they're pretty adept at juggling the vehicles around as people come and go. Also the lobby was absolutely charming and really did give folks a glimpse at what a 19th century town house might have looked like back in the day. I wanted to curl up on a couch and read Dickens or something.

Yelp
What a gorgeous place to stay right in the middle of Newberry Street. There was action the whole way down the street with fantastic shops and a great walking experience. Like this little boutique hotel in the check-in was very warm and welcoming. The rooms are quiet and nice comfortable beds.

Yelp
You're in Boston, don't be surprised that everything and everywhere is expensive! To get a little more bang for your buck, the Newbury Guest House is the PERECT place to stay! It's located right on Newbury Street, where all the shopping occurs. It's also conveniently located close to several hot spots in Boston, try the Boston Commons and the Boston Public Library. If you're looking to go a little "further" out, you can walk or take a quick Uber to other parts of Boston-- Seaport, Little Italy, Fenway Park, Faneuil Hall, etc. OMG and the breakfast!!!!! The breakfast is SO good, fresh, wholesome, and has the works! Breakfast is complimentary with your stay and during lunch and dinner, you get a discount if you eat at the restaurant connected to Newbury Guest House. The Newbury Guest House is quaint, nothing fancy about the rooms, but you won't be there for the most part anyway! If you have a car, they have their own private parking spaces for a price, or you can park in one of the several parking garages nearby and walk to the hotel (once again, it's Boston so expect a price)!

Yelp
Close to everything, very welcoming, and well appointed. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
I arrived at 5am in Boston, and had the goal to walk around the city and enjoy the morning before checking into my hotel. That plan required me to have slept on the plane ride there, which did not happen. I arrived at the hotel at 9am, realizing how badly I wanted to take a nap. Knowing the hotel business, I figured at best that I would be able check my luggage. Nope, they let me check in as long as I took the room by the elevator. They felt awful about it, but I badly wanted a nap. Never heard a noise my whole trip, even with being right next to the elevator. My room was quiet, clean, and wonderful. A delicious breakfast and snacks throughout the day are wonderful! The location was wonderful for exploring Boston from. When I return, I will be staying here.

Yelp
I had a wonderful stay at The Newbury Guest House in late February. If you want a more intimate hotel experience in a superb location and don't need the big hotel amenities, this is a great option. This is a charming historic building formed by joining side by side brownstones. The rooms are nicely renovated and still have original charm. The service is also excellent with very personable staff. I forgot my iPhone charger, plugged into the wall and I got a text from them letting me know that housekeeping had located it and it gave an option for it to be shipped to me. It was an old charger and not worth the cost of the shipping they used so once I told them that, they offered to send it if I wanted to send my own shipping label so I was able to do that and have it shipped promptly back to me with a bit of back and forth that made me appreciate how they took the extra time to work with me to return a relatively inexpensive item to me. I only spent one night there but I would definitely come back and hope to have a longer stay next time and try the traditional French restaurant at the street level, which is well rated and looks very charming.

Yelp
Visited here with my husband a couple weeks ago. We stayed 3 nights. The guest service here is great. Our room had a view of the street, which we liked. This place couldn't be in a better spot in the city. It's walking distance to everything you'll want to see in Boston.
google avatar

Yelp
No free breakfast, no next door restaurant. Great spot, affordable! Over all this place is great for the value and the proximity to different things.
google avatar

Matt F.

Yelp
Nice hotel , comfy rooms with updated beautiful bathrooms and nice bedding. It's in the best location in the city with everything you could want within walking distance. Check in and parking was easy and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. My only gripe was in the early morning when the heat was on there was some rattling noise that didn't go away so it made it a bit hard to fall back asleep and was rather annoying. Overall if I'm back in the city and need a place to stay I would gladly revisit this boutique hotel.

Yelp
New England charm at its finest. December was a lovely time to visit for the seasonal lobby decor alone - the Christmas tree & fireplace are so sweet! The rooms themselves are pretty basic but cozy - they do the trick for a comfortable night's sleep. Still, the walls are SO thin - I could hear every move, cough and sneeze from my neighbors. Luckily I'm not a particularly light sleeper so it was all good. The complimentary breakfast is a nice touch - eggs, bacon, pancakes, potatoes, baked goods, etc. Solid way to start the day. Perfect location on Newbury Street near great restaurants & shopping.
google avatar

Breanna B.

Yelp
This was a wonderfully cozy hotel, fit for a quiet night stay. It felt like a B&B and the breakfast in the morning was better than the average complimentary continental spread. The room was spacious with a queen bed, a TV, desk, robes, hairdryer, soft towels - the usual amenities. The breakfast is complimentary and is in the restaurant next to the hotel. They had strong coffee, and a steady flow of scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, yogurt and granola, croissants (yum!), and other breakfast items to accommodate the guests. The location is great too - access to so much and lots of shopping if that's your thing. I really enjoyed the Christmas tree in the lobby - very festive. A few things to be aware of: - While it's so nice that it's so quiet, the walls are thin. I could hear my neighbor's TV quite clearly. I also am used to white noise so I had to put on a noise app to sleep soundly. - The shower in my room dripped non-stop despite all my efforts to ensure the valve was closed. - The elevator was out at the time of my stay so I tested my endurance with a walk up 3 flights of stairs. I would have loved a kind gesture from the staff to offer to bring bags up - not an option, which was a bummer. I would have happily tipped someone to help! - Pro tip: The rooms are warm. I prefer to sleep in a cooler room, but the first night couldn't get the button to turn down on the thermostat - found out you have to hold it down for a bit till it starts to drop. Overall, it was charming and cozy if you're looking for a place to stay in Back Bay that's pretty easy access to a lot downtown.

Yelp
Amazing stay at the Newbury! Very nice rooms and friendly staff. Very convenient to everything!

Yelp
This hotel is a jewel in Boston. Small, quaint, modern and clean. It's centrally located to everything and right in the heart of the best street in Boston. The staff is totally attentive and friendly. They remember you every time you see them and are very helpful with getting around the city. We will be back to stay here next time we come to Boston.

Yelp
I was feeling torn about my overall feelings about this hotel experience, so I'll take you through my internal pro/con list to decide for yourself: Pros: - Killer location in Back Bay. - Charming in a mom and pop B&B way - loved the Christmas tree in their little lobby. - Clean room (though not recently updated), with clean fluffy towels. - And robes! - Free breakfast every morning for all hotel guests in the attached restaurant including coffee, eggs, sausage, pancakes, and croissants. - Comfy bed. - The restaurant also has a little bar with some good wines, and it's just upstairs from the patisserie. - Parking available for guests at $20/day - good deal in this neighborhood. - Kelly at the front desk who I spoke to a couple of times on the phone was very helpful. Cons: - Elevator was broken, not a huge deal but a bit of a pain to go up to the fourth floor with my suitcase, and more annoying was the fact that the front desk attendant let me walk to the elevator to see the 'out of order' sign instead of just telling me right away when she was checking me in. - THE WALLS ARE PAPER THIN - like to the point where I could hear my neighbor sniffle. - Inconvenient outlet situation by the beds meaning I had to fiddle with all the lights and the alarm clock to try to plug in my phone charger. - The thermostat/AC was broken in my room and was absolutely stuck at 73 degrees (people told me to hold down the arrow, but I held and held and yet it remained at 73), making for a stuffy sleeping situation. - Though I tried to prepare by calling several times to make sure that they knew that I wanted charges for a bunch of rooms on my card, there was still confusion when I got there with the manager asking after my stay had started to fill out a form which needed to be hand-signed (which I couldn't do because I was working all day in a place with no printer), then when I went to the front desk to sort it out they seemed very confused and made me give them a bunch of info that I had already given. So... yeah, I think after reviewing this list I'm comfy giving it three stars. Not the worst, and cute in its own way, but probably would look for other hotel options in the area before returning.

Yelp
I stayed in two different rooms to take advantage of low rates through aa.com. The special conference rates at the Westin Copley Plaza were $200/night, so I gladly took a risk on these rooms at half that rate (my 4 nights averaged out to about $100/night +tax). The rooms were clean and quiet, though I imagine those with rooms by the stairs (creaky) or elevator (DING!) may have had a different experience. One of my rooms was by the ice maker, and it was still quiet. Locale is safe, quaint, & convenient -- only a block to the all-indoor Prudential Center mall, which connects a number of hotels & buildings all the way to the Westin. Staff was friendly, lobby computer use & printing (color inkjet) was free. An in-room safe was provided for valuables, along with a hairdryer, iron & board, fridge (no freezer), and a DVD player. Free wireless Internet, also. Breakfast was the bare minimum (eggs, bacon, English muffins, OJ, coffee, milk, corn flakes) but was constantly replenished, even at 9:25 am (ends at 9:30). I would have liked fruit or some other bakery items, though. Local newspapers were provided for breakfast reading. My only negatives are that the shower pressure was low and they supplied shampoo, lotion, & 2 bars of soap but no conditioner, and the taps ran soft water so it took forever to wash off all the soap/slimy feeling from your skin. Energy-efficient bulbs in ceiling were also annoying, but the lamps were a nice alternative. Overall: great value, great location; I'd stay here again.

Yelp
We stayed at Newbury Guest House from Wed 5/22-Sun 5/25, 2008. Wed & Thurs it was $195 a night, Fri & Sat $215 per night. Sub-total 820 + State Tax 46.74 + local tax $32.80 + Convention Tax $22.55 (wtf in Back Bay) = $922.10. The room we had was small. I queen bed, a TV, table, small bathroom with shower/tub, toilet, sink. Soaps from Lord & Mayfair soap bar w/ milk & honey & small tube of lotion w/ apricot kernel oil. Soaps dried up my hands so had to use the lotion too. Small tube of shampoo given too. 2 hand towels, 2 face towels, 2 body towels in the bathrooms. Hairdryer provided. Didn't like: Dim lights in room - couldn't read in the room Very noisy at night if you have a room facing Newbury St No coffee pot inside the room FREE breakfast down 1 flight of stairs from the lobby. Same breakfast of mini muffins, mini croissants, some plain some w/ ham, danishes, oj, hot water, Lipton tea bags, coffee, milk. Same dining area as La Voile. FREE internet available in the lobby - just one computer though. Seating area in lobby enough for about 7 people total.

Thin walls Rooms carpet dirty, yuk smell just weird No place to put clothes no dresser weird Things broken in room needs work Rooms seemed used up..

Yelp
It's a long overdue review, but this place is just great. I've lived in Boston for 5 years, and have recently moved out of MA. I went back to Boston for meetings last September, and didn't want to be too far away from where my meetings were. I went online and searched for hotels around Back Bay/Copley Sq, this showed up. I decided to give it a try since it's the cheapest in that area, plus, there's one night free promotion. I wasn't expecting super comfy rooms, because I know buildings there are, well, quite ancient. I know Newbury street is very busy street with lots of stores, restaurants. It was in a nice neighborhood, plenty of pedestrian walking even around 11pm. Safety was not a concern. As I walked in to the hotel around 10 pm, the concierge was very polite and efficient, gave me the room keys right away (card keys too!) so I can get to bed. The rooms were super clean (as far as I know), and it was a decent size for those type of buildings. I had a queen sized bed, a small coffee table, and lots of room to walk around. It was pretty quite at night, even in the morning given the location of this hotel. Free Wi-Fi of course is a plus. They also have complementary breakfast, which was also a plus. Although not a full breakfast bar, but the fact that they have it was great. All in all, I was VERY happy with what I paid for. So, to summarize, Pros: Location Price Cleanliness of the rooms/bathrooms Polite staff Decent sized room (had a queen sized bed and ample room to walk around) Free Wi-Fi Complementary breakfast Quite Cons: No view (of course, it's in the city)

Yelp
Excellent! I was in Boston for two weeks and stayed at the Newbury Guest House. The entire staff was lovely. So professional, helpful and friendly. The room was bright, clean and very comfortable. I will be staying here again and can't wait!

Yelp
Really great price for the unbeatable location and it includes a complimentary breakfast buffet at the adorable restaurant attached. The hotel and rooms, however, are dingy and devoid of charm. The bathrooms are tiny and in need of a face lift. It would take very little for the Newbury House to embrace the bed and breakfast charm and spend a little to revamp for maximum return!
google avatar

Candis M.

Yelp
We enjoyed our weekend stay at Newbury guest house. The location on Newbury Street is unbeatable. The hotel is quaint and quirky, but we liked that. It felt home-y. All of the staff was nice and accommodating. The room was clean and nicely sized. Standard TV, sitting area, desk. The bathroom was small, but who spends hours in there? Not me. The complimentary breakfast from Roost was excellent. The food is made in small batches so you may have to wait a few minutes for eggs or some fruit, but the fact that I know it's fresh outweighs having eggs sitting in a chafer, in my opinion. We'll definitely stay here on our next trip to Boston.

Yelp
What a great place! Friendly staff Comfy rooms Well priced And BEST LOCATION!!! Here for a graduation in May. We were so pleased with everything. A coffee spot and restaurant basically connected to the hotel was so convenient. I wish i could have stayed longer

Yelp
Small adorable hotel. Super clean. Great customer service. Good breakfast. Tons of cute little boutiques and restaurants up and down the street. Walking distance to Fenway.

Yelp
When I went to Boston for a business trip, stayed here. Staff was personable and the location is ideal. Love that they put out cookies for the guests- not great for my diet, but nice touch! Room was clean and they even held my stuff until it was ready. Checkout was quick. Fully recommend this place to anyone visiting Boston.

Yelp
Fell in love with this place the moment we walked in the door. Perfect location. Super cute inside. Staff is super friendly and they offer parking. Room was beautiful. We quickly fell out of love when we tried to go to sleep. The bed saga several inches down the middle. It's like sleeping on an old pull out couch...or trying to sleep on one. Worst night sleep ever. We are so bummed because this would have been our go to place. I'm a little shocked they would put any guest in a bed like this.

Yelp
Stayed here for a couple of days after the marathon. The neighborhood alone is worth staying here. Rooms are pretty spacious, beds were super comfy, and shower was great. We had a room facing Newbury street and I highly recommend closing your window at night and turning on the air. You can definitely hear street noise if you keep your window open. The breakfast in the morning was very nice in the adjoining restaurant. There is coffee in the lobby, newspapers, a computer, and couches. There is supposed to be water but the water system was not working unfortunately. Front desk workers were always helpful and nice. They are more than happy to store your luggage for you if you check in early. It is very reasonably priced considering the area. Would most definitely stay here again.

Yelp
We stayed 1 night. A Sunday. Pros: We were allowed early check in. Room was clean and nicely appointed. Staff friendly. Price reasonable considering it is in Boston. Parking in back for 20 bucks/day. Good rate. Location is great. Breakfast which was included was ok. Cons: The blinds on the bay windows had blinds that were NOT room darkening. Most hotels/b n b's take this into consideration when designing. This resulted in an unsettled night. TV would not work. Staff gave us new batteries. That did not solve the problems so staff wrote down problem for maintenance to review next day. Our room was on third floor. They were remodeling the 4 th floor and construction started around 730 am. Very noisy! Yes. I understand that Monday is a workday and remodeling gets done from time to time BUT we should of been given a heads-up at checkin. The electrical connections were not the best. The room had a extension cord hanging from wall at tv with dvd box and cable plugged into them.. If looked like I was in a spare bedroom in a home with makeshift electrical accommodating devices etc.. very unprofessional . Would I stay again ....well... truthfully.... I'd have to really give it some thought but... probably not. Ok...my wife agrees with my comments BUT just mentioned to me that the bed skirt had a few stains on it.. someone had spilled something on it.. hmmmmm... I will leave it as a 3 star but I considered dropping to a 2!! However,,,,, I will not stay here again.. ! Regrettably............... )-:

Yelp
I lived in Boston for 20 years, so never had occasion to stay in a hotel here, but moved away a few years ago and am still homesick. Staying at the Newbury Guest House made me feel like a local, albeit a spoiled local who lives in the heart of Boston! What a great location, although I couldn't help but think that someone older might find the walk to publc transportation a little longer (3 blocks) than they expected. The rooms would be a bit small for 2 people but but extremely comfortable with top quality sheets, flat screens, and fluffy comforters. I was there on a monday and tuesday night, though, and wondered about how noisy it would be to have a room overlooking Newbury street on a weekend night. If you are concerned about noise, ask for a room without a view. (also, if you have trouble with stairs, ask for a room close to the elevator. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful when I called and when I was there. The public areas of the hotel are less luxe and more old-school (think funky boarding house from the late 70's -- blue woodwork, flowered carpet. Breakfast was included in the dining room below -- coffee, tea, juice,) Scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and cereal seemed to be each day's fare. Newspapers and a computer internet station was available in the lobby area for guest use, which is convient, and free coffee, tea, and hot cocoa was availableall day. For less than the cost of a "name" hotel, you too can "live" on America's prettiest shopping street for a night or two.

Yelp
I arrived at 5:30 am on a Sunday and the person that was in the reception received me very nicely! He was really on top of that I requested an early check-in, he let me knew when the coffee an breakfast was served and I got my room at 10 am. Service of all the staff and the quality of Newbury Guest House is outstanding! I did hear some noises while I was in my room (like closing doors, or what was happening in other rooms and hallways), but the noise considered to be pretty decent! Room was clean, bathroom clean. I had the standard room, and I didn't need more! The location is perfect. I 100% recommend this hotel that I call now a chic boutique hotel if you are around Boston! Newbury Guest House thank you for making my stay at Boston very pleasant can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I booked this place online and was a little bit skeptical. We chose it because it had good rating, it was relatively inexpensive, and looked clean 1st of all the staff is really accomodating, the rooms are nice, big, and clean . The decor is great, I think it is the most reasonably priced place to stay in Boston for the money/quality.

Yelp
Wonderful location and very cute place. Being an older place, it comes with thin walls, small bathroom but everything was functional. -bring earplugs. My room had a non functional fireplace but it was very cute. Smelled nice as well. Yes my view Was parking lot too and nighttime and early morning people dumping bottles in trash bins. -bring earplugs Breakfast is next door at the roost bistro which is pretty good - French toast, potatoes, fresh baked croissants, real eggs. Never made it often as it opened at 7:30 and I was out early to the convention center -easy walk Free Wifi is the slowest ever. Absolutely would stay here again.

Yelp
Love the boutique hotel in a brownstone feel. This isn't a new building with ultra-modern accommodations, but it isn't trying to be. It's set in the really nice Back Bay neighborhood on Newbury Street which is literally filled with tons of shops, restaurants, and other amenities all within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It was really nice to just walk around the neighborhood to get where I wanted, totally different from what I have to typically do in CA. They offer a continental breakfast which is nice, not great, but better than some other places that do the same. For the price and location, this is an awesome place to stay compared to the typical cookie-cutter hotels. They really should make the signage a little more prominent though - it can be really easy to pass up without noticing it. 3 stars for the hotel and price, extra star for its location.

Yelp
Rooms are small and stuffy. Breakfast was rubbery pancakes, greasy, overcooked bacon and dry eggs. Staff is beyond rude and could care less about anything. Stay somewhere else.

Yelp
I am staying here for almost a week with my husband, mother and 10 month old baby. We were here for Blizzard 2015. The rooms have nice beds, clean carpets, good bathrooms and free breakfast! 1. Rooms - we had a wonderfully large room with bay windows. The bed is comfortable and clean. The bathrooms are a little run down, but not terribly so. They have good water pressure and the hot water comes fast. The towels are nice and fluffy. The room has an amazing view of Newbury but the blinds and drapes are not blackouts so it does get very bright in the morning. 2. Breakfast - They have pastries, fruit, yogurt and quiche. It's all delicious but very rich to have every day. 3. Lobby - always has coffee, tea during the day. The staff is very nice. And they have unexpected amenities like cookies during the afternoon and dvds to borrow. Overall, it's run like a family business (not sure if it is or not) but it gives a wonderful feeling to a nice quaint hotel. If you are looking for character in your hotel, you can't go wrong with Newbury Guest House.

Yelp
This hotel is located on the "Rodeo Drive" of Boston. The neighborhood is fantastic! We walked from the hotel to all major sites in the city. The hotel itself is a quaint little gem. It isn't anything fancy but the rooms are clean, nicely sized and the bed was quite comfy. The bed linens and towels were soft. The manager Susan is really sweet and takes the time to get to know the guests. The hotel stay includes a free continental breakfast of scrambled and poached eggs, sausage, bacon, French toast, fruit and croissants. Our room was next to the elevator which was kind of loud but fortunately by the time we went to sleep the elevator really didn't run they the night. There is fantastic shopping and restaurants just down the steps of the Newbury Guest House. I would definitely stay here again when I return to Boston!

Yelp
Stayed here on a special date night with my girlfriend. The room was beautiful, modern, and clean. The bathroom, while kind of tight, had a fantastic walk in shower with great water pressure. I read reviews that complained about thin walls and noise, but I slept soundly all night. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Stayed here this past weekend for a little weekend getaway in Boston. I'm very happy with my stay here. The staff was courteous and helpful. Our room and linens were clean. Only downsides were that I expected our room to be overlooking newbury street when in fact it was overlooking the back alley where our car was parked. Not a huge deal since we weren't on our room most of the time. Also the light in our shower was out. Again nothing major so I still give this place 4 stars.

Yelp
Tons of construction going on last year when I visited the Newbury Guest House. The NGH is small but has about 10 or so rooms. The rooms themselves are small. They are quaint and have an old fashion, Victorian charm to them... I think my Nana has the same wallpaper in her house. Some of the furnishings look like they could use an upgrade. The staff is hit or miss, some times they were very accommodating and others they seemed to be bothered. Breakfast was the same each morning, which is why we decided to venture out to some of the local restaurants that were open. My guess is that you are going to be staying here because of the location. You really can't beat it when you walk out the front door and you are on the main shopping destination that Boston has to offer. They also offer off street parking, but I think it is at an added rate daily. For the price though, I would have searched one of the online discounters for a real hotel.
