Newcastle Inn

We had a wonderful experience staying here during the Darmiscotta Pumpkin Festival. The grounds are lovely, with water views. Our room was comfortable, large, and attractive. The service was very friendly and the breakfasts delicious. It’s an easy walk into Darmiscotta and a quick drive to Wiscasset. There are a few common living areas and a large deck, and it was very quiet—we barely heard the other guests. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a beautiful inn that is well-kept and spotless. The hosts are the most friendly people I have met. The breakfasts were delicious and the staff was most pleasant and friendly. The grounds are gorgeous and the view of the Damariscotta River are wonderful. Highly recommend this inn. Carolyn was always there to greet you as soon as you pulled into the parking lot and always engaged in friendly conversation. Keep up the great work!!

My wife and I spent three wonderful days at The Newcastle Inn to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. (We stayed there for two nights the previous year and will be booking another visit for 2026.) The inn is owned and run by Liz & Carolyn. Their personal warmth is what makes the inn such a special place, and one to which you want to return. The breakfasts are amazing!! The rooms are clean and comfortable. The inn is on a relatively quiet street and just a stone's throw from Damariscotta. While staying at the inn, I would recommend dining at the Damariscotta River Grill and Bred In The Bone. If you'll be headed south after your stay, I'd suggest stopping for lunch at The Alna Store (in Alna.) There will be almost no traffic between Alna and Wiscasset, and you'll bypass the traffic jam that's a fixture of the Wiscasset Rt 1 bridge.

The Newcastle Inn provided a truly wonderful and memorable experience. The Inn itself was exceptionally comfortable, offering a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The bedroom was a highlight, featuring a large, comfy bed that guaranteed a restful night's sleep.The location is ideal—just a short, pleasant walk to downtown, making it easy to explore. The views of the water from the Inn were absolutely lovely and added a beautiful backdrop to our stay.What truly sets this Inn apart are the owners, who were incredibly warm and hospitable. Their kindness made me feel instantly at home. Furthermore, the daily changing breakfast was excellent and a delicious way to start each morning.I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and will certainly plan to visit again!

What a great experience. From the moment we arrived and received a warm welcome, helpful tour, help with our bags and a lovely conversation in the bar to the day we left to a sad goodbye and offers to return, we felt at home. Rooms are cozy with top notch amenities ( including a white noise machine) and everything is sparkling clean. Topping off all of that, the breakfasts are divine and the service is perfection. We'll go back if we can!|It is also a great location from which to explore mid Coast Maine. Good restaurants, shops and hiking trails are easily accessible and the views from the inn are pretty.

Another really enjoyable weekend at Newcastle Inn. We stay here 3-4 times a year and always find it perfect in every way. Carolyn and Liz take the time to make every visit delightful. We've stayed in most of the rooms by now and they are all beautifully appointed and comfortable. Views over the river are stunning.

Absolutely one of the top rated stays in our travel history! Everything was top notch from the introduction, the breakfast, the quality of products used in the Inn. The Carolyn and Liz were gracious hosts and made us feel like family. There is ample space to read a book, play a game, enjoy the view of the Darmiscotta River on their spectacular porch. The Inn is located within a 1/2 mile of Darmiscotta. For a nice walk. There was absolutely nothing to improve. This is our new go-to Inn on the Pemaquid Peninsula. Thanks ladies!

I’ve stayed at Newcastle 3 times over 10 years and each time it is more charming than the last. The rooms are comfy with amenities such as a noise maker ,which you don’t need, to a plush robe- most importantly the inn is Spotless! The breakfast menu is unique each day and served on beautiful dishes. Mimosa offered for a small charge. The grounds are stunning overlooking the River. The two gals who own it are very hands on and much fun to chat with. Location was perfect for visiting a family member and to Portland airport. Can’t say enough about this historic inn.

We had a great visit to the New Castle Inn to attend an event in Daramiscotta. Breakfast was great. The hosts, Liz & Carolyn, were friendly and informative.

A truly wonderful bed & breakfast with a welcoming vibe. Carolyn and Liz were fantastic hosts. Their expert recommendations on local dining, sights, and outdoor recreation places were spot on. The breakfasts were delightful. Common areas were comfortable and cozy. We stayed in the Pumpkin Island Room which was newly-renovated and had its own deck with views of the Damariscotta River. Clean, well-maintained, and a short walk to downtown Damariscotta which boasts an excellent selection of dining and shopping places. Highly recommend this inn. We plan to return.

Very clean rooms, ours had a private deck and easy entrance. The location is hard to beat, walking distance to gorgeous damariscotta Everyone who works there is extremely hospitable Julie and Sam etc. Wifi wasn't great and no TVs, so bring a laptop and download some movies ahead of time

One of the best B&Bs I've ever visited. Lovely house, lots of perfect details in our room and a delightful breakfast.

Clean place, couldn't sit on the deck with a drink, staff not pleasant and poor food. With all the B and B in the area you may want to go elsewhere

This is our first time at a B&B and it was a wonderful experience. The owner was very accommodating and allowed us to have our pets. We had a nice room away from the main house that was just perfect for us. We liked having our own separate entrance and the room was clean updated and bed was so comfortable. The inn was warm and cozy and was exceptional in decor and cleanliness. The beautiful sun room with games and puzzles over look the gorgeous grounds and landscapes. The furnishings were Tea, Coffee , Beverages with wines and beers as well as fresh baked cookies daily. The breakfast were fresh with things from the garden and left you wanting more. The exterior deck and outdoor dining were wonderful and the staff top notch. We will always make this our preferred place to stay every summer in New Castle , Maine I only wished we had a bigger TV ..

Absolutely charming old and immaculate inn with superb breakfast included. Very reasonable rates. Lovely river view from breakfast deck. Damariscotta area is charming and unspoiled. Owner is friendly and pleasant (and her dog is very sweet). We can't say enough good things!

The Newcastle Inn was perfect in every way. Very comfortable. GREAT BREAKFAST! The grounds were SO BEAUTIFUL! It is centrally located so you can get to where ever you are going quickly. You could EASILY walk to downtown Damariscotta. Will def. stay again.
