Newcastle Inn

Our three night stay at the Newcastle Inn was perfect. We were warmly welcomed and introduced to the area. Delicious breakfasts were served on the back deck which overlooked a lovely garden and lawn leading to the Damariscotta River. The inn was very peaceful. Our room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Liz and Carolyn were eager to make sure we enjoyed our stay at the inn. They were very knowledgeable about local restaurants as well as about the activities available in the area. We recommend staying at the Newcastle Inn very highly.

This is a wonderful old inn that has been well-maintained and is very clean. Although it's in Newcastle, it's a short walk from the inn over the bridge to downtown Damariscotta where there is shopping and good restaurants. There's a porch where you can eat your breakfast, which was delicious both days we were there. Our room was nice and had a bathroom that was at least twice the size of the ones we have at home. There are beautiful gardens on the property with a great view of the Damariscotta River. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. If we visit this area again, we'll definitely stay here again.

Do you want a great experience at a B&B? Then, if in the area, stay at the Newcastle Inn. Period. Could be the end of the review. But no! From the moment you walk in and are greeted by Carolyn, you'll know you made the right choice. She makes you comfortable, shows you around, and makes sure you have EVERYTHING you need. I haven't had that great a welcome at a B&B ever. She was delightful. We stayed in the Seal Island Light room and had pleasant views, a spacious bathroom and a beautiful sitting area for both of us. Btw, Carolyn noted we had cold items and since there are no fridges in the rooms, gave us a cooler with ice. Wow. The Inn is quiet, comfortable and decorated with great art and remnants of the original home still show through. Now, breakfast. Liz was also a treat to interact with and a superb cook with a different full breakfast each morning. Despite the unusually hot weather, we sat on the patio overlooking the Damariscotta River and thoroughly enjoyed our morning. Easy to find (look for the cute cat logo sign!) and just a mile or so from town. If you are in this beautiful part of Maine (that doesn't narrow it down much) stay at the Newcastle Inn. You'll never want to leave!

I recently stayed at the Newcastle Inn and found the hosts, Carolyn and Liz to be friendly, warm and accommodating; and the Inn to be comfortable and homey. |I stayed in the Permaquid Suite which overlooks the backyard with a view of the water to be quiet and restful. Breakfast on the outdoor deck was a relaxing way to start the day. |All in all, a tranquil retreat in a convenient location, and one that I'd definitely recommend. I don't normally write reviews, but I think this little gem and the great hosts deserve the recognition.

This is our third time at the Newcastle Inn, and this time my husband and I also brought our daughter and her husband. |We initially chose the Newcastle Inn because of its terrific location. It’s a 10 - 15 minute walk into the adorable town of Damariscotta, and we appreciate being able to go out to dine without having to look for parking or worry about that second glass of wine. ||We keep coming back to the Newcastle Inn for the lovely deck overlooking the garden and water views, for the yummy breakfasts, and for the Inn’s gracious architecture. |The Inn changed ownership since we were last there, and I’m happy to report that the new owners couldn’t be better! |Carolyn and Liz are both so sweet and friendly. My wife and I stayed here last week and had a wonderful time. Carolyn and Liz were very welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable time. From restaurant suggestions to great conversation, they both were extremely pleasant. The Inn is beautiful and having breakfast on the deck overlooking the gardens and River is something we will remember for a long time!!

I recently stayed at the Newcastle Inn and from the moment I arrived Carolyn and Liz were warm and welcoming. They are very interested in making sure your stay is relaxing and tranquil. My room was spotless and the bed very comfortable. It overlooked the back gardens with view of the river. Breakfast was delicious and served each morning on their back deck. The Inn is very convenient to Damariscotta where there are several great restaurants, and an easy drive to Boothbay and the Botanical Gardens. If looking for tranquil surroundings in a charming inn Newcastle Inn will be a perfect choice. I left satisfied knowing my stay was everything I wanted.

The innkeepers are very welcoming and helpful. They include a homemade breakfast which was delicious, and different each morning. You can easily walk from the inn into the village of Damariscotta to go exploring. Our room was clean and comfortable and had a lovely balcony. I hope I can come up with a good reason to return soon!

We had a great visit to the New Castle Inn to attend an event in Daramiscotta. Breakfast was great. The hosts, Liz & Carolyn, were friendly and informative.

A truly wonderful bed & breakfast with a welcoming vibe. Carolyn and Liz were fantastic hosts. Their expert recommendations on local dining, sights, and outdoor recreation places were spot on. The breakfasts were delightful. Common areas were comfortable and cozy. We stayed in the Pumpkin Island Room which was newly-renovated and had its own deck with views of the Damariscotta River. Clean, well-maintained, and a short walk to downtown Damariscotta which boasts an excellent selection of dining and shopping places. Highly recommend this inn. We plan to return.

Very clean rooms, ours had a private deck and easy entrance. The location is hard to beat, walking distance to gorgeous damariscotta Everyone who works there is extremely hospitable Julie and Sam etc. Wifi wasn't great and no TVs, so bring a laptop and download some movies ahead of time

One of the best B&Bs I've ever visited. Lovely house, lots of perfect details in our room and a delightful breakfast.

Clean place, couldn't sit on the deck with a drink, staff not pleasant and poor food. With all the B and B in the area you may want to go elsewhere

This is our first time at a B&B and it was a wonderful experience. The owner was very accommodating and allowed us to have our pets. We had a nice room away from the main house that was just perfect for us. We liked having our own separate entrance and the room was clean updated and bed was so comfortable. The inn was warm and cozy and was exceptional in decor and cleanliness. The beautiful sun room with games and puzzles over look the gorgeous grounds and landscapes. The furnishings were Tea, Coffee , Beverages with wines and beers as well as fresh baked cookies daily. The breakfast were fresh with things from the garden and left you wanting more. The exterior deck and outdoor dining were wonderful and the staff top notch. We will always make this our preferred place to stay every summer in New Castle , Maine I only wished we had a bigger TV ..

Absolutely charming old and immaculate inn with superb breakfast included. Very reasonable rates. Lovely river view from breakfast deck. Damariscotta area is charming and unspoiled. Owner is friendly and pleasant (and her dog is very sweet). We can't say enough good things!

The Newcastle Inn was perfect in every way. Very comfortable. GREAT BREAKFAST! The grounds were SO BEAUTIFUL! It is centrally located so you can get to where ever you are going quickly. You could EASILY walk to downtown Damariscotta. Will def. stay again.
