Newcastle Inn

We chose to stay at The Newcastle Inn while visiting my brother, who lives nearby. This was a fortuitous choice, as the Newcastle Inn is the Best Bed and Breakfast we have ever experienced. Everything, I mean everything was top notch! The sheets were very soft, plush robes were provided, there was even a white noise machine in our room. This beautiful historical Inn has been tastefully decorated. The rooms are bright and cheerful and everything is sparkling clean. Breakfast was delicious! Everything was freshly made and very tasty. The coffee was excellent. The staff was friendly. They cheerfully accommodated my special dietary needs. The owners, Liz and Carolyn, were very welcoming, attentive, and always helpful. They exuded a "joie de vivre", that enhanced our enjoyment. We highly recommend that you stay at the Newcastle Inn.

We had a wonderful time at the Newcastle Inn. The owners, Liz and Carolyn, were great hosts. Carolyn met us in the driveway when we arrived and proceeded to give us a tour of the inn, and ended by showing us to our room. The other inns we've stayed at in recent years treat it more like an Airbnb, where they send you a door code and you're on your own. It was so nice to have a host greet us again. Liz prepared a delicious breakfast - including the fluffiest egg scramble we've ever had. The bed was comfortable and the room was cozy. An air conditioner kept us cool during an unseasonably hot and humid time in Maine. This is a great inn near the Maine coast. It was a short drive to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, which were magnificent. And if you like seafood, there are ample restaurants nearby. If we're ever in the area again, we will surely stay with Liz and Carolyn again at the Newcastle Inn.

Carolyn and Liz have made this inn so comfortable and welcoming. The 3-season, glassed-in porch is perfect for relaxing. In season, sumptuous breakfasts can be eaten on the deck looking down towards the river and overlooking the beautiful gardens. There are so many places to relax. Upon arrival and departure we were welcomed and thanked by an owner. This is a charming old inn with a lot of character, and in a great location, and Carolyn and Liz are doing a wonderful job of preserving it for their guests/ enjoyment.

This B&B is one of the best, if not THE best B&B we've ever stayed in. Carolyn and Liz greeted us the moment we arrived, took us on a tour of the whole house, and made us feel like family. Our suite on the second floor of the main house was huge consisting of a living room, bathroom, and bedroom and took up one entire side of the house. Everything was spotless in all areas. Breakfasts were delicious and varied every day of the 6 days we were there. They were served on the deck overlooking the beautiful gardens and river. We made good use of the two Adirondack chairs on the lawn reading and enjoying the beautiful views. The Inn is within walking distance of Demariscotta, one of the most charming towns you'll ever find in Maine. For a small town, we were impressed with the many dining options and shops. Both innkeepers were a wealth of knowledge about the area and were more than willing to answer all our questions about where to go and what to see. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Newcastle Inn and will not hesitate to return.

My husband and I stayed at the Newcastle Inn for four nights in July. We loved it and were so glad we chose it over the many small inns and hotels in the area. First of all, the owners Liz and Carolyn are wonderful and gracious hosts. We also enjoyed everything about the inn—from our nicely appointed and very clean room on the third floor (no elevator—if that bothers you—although they help you carry your luggage), with plenty of outlets and an updated bathroom with great views-and fabulous water pressure in the shower, to all of the many common areas to enjoy, including the beautiful garden with Adirondack chairs facing the water and the delicious breakfasts each morning. It was warm and sunny while we were there, so we were able to have breakfast on the back porch under a large awning while overlooking the water. Honestly, just the great breakfasts on that deck would have made the whole thing worthwhile even if we hadn’t loved the rest of it (which we did!) |Every bit of this place has character and warmth.

We spent two nights at the Newcastle Inn and were greatly pleased. It is a lovely spot, close to Damariscotta (walkable) with views of the river from our room and the back deck. Carolyn was extremely friendly and helpful, as were the rest of the staff. Our room was very comfortable and spacious on the third floor, immaculate and quiet, despite overlooking the road. Breakfast was delicious and coffee available at anytime.

I recently stayed at the Newcastle Inn and from the moment I arrived Carolyn and Liz were warm and welcoming. They are very interested in making sure your stay is relaxing and tranquil. My room was spotless and the bed very comfortable. It overlooked the back gardens with view of the river. Breakfast was delicious and served each morning on their back deck. The Inn is very convenient to Damariscotta where there are several great restaurants, and an easy drive to Boothbay and the Botanical Gardens. If looking for tranquil surroundings in a charming inn Newcastle Inn will be a perfect choice. I left satisfied knowing my stay was everything I wanted.

We had a great visit to the New Castle Inn to attend an event in Daramiscotta. Breakfast was great. The hosts, Liz & Carolyn, were friendly and informative.

A truly wonderful bed & breakfast with a welcoming vibe. Carolyn and Liz were fantastic hosts. Their expert recommendations on local dining, sights, and outdoor recreation places were spot on. The breakfasts were delightful. Common areas were comfortable and cozy. We stayed in the Pumpkin Island Room which was newly-renovated and had its own deck with views of the Damariscotta River. Clean, well-maintained, and a short walk to downtown Damariscotta which boasts an excellent selection of dining and shopping places. Highly recommend this inn. We plan to return.

Very clean rooms, ours had a private deck and easy entrance. The location is hard to beat, walking distance to gorgeous damariscotta Everyone who works there is extremely hospitable Julie and Sam etc. Wifi wasn't great and no TVs, so bring a laptop and download some movies ahead of time

Clean place, couldn't sit on the deck with a drink, staff not pleasant and poor food. With all the B and B in the area you may want to go elsewhere

This is our first time at a B&B and it was a wonderful experience. The owner was very accommodating and allowed us to have our pets. We had a nice room away from the main house that was just perfect for us. We liked having our own separate entrance and the room was clean updated and bed was so comfortable. The inn was warm and cozy and was exceptional in decor and cleanliness. The beautiful sun room with games and puzzles over look the gorgeous grounds and landscapes. The furnishings were Tea, Coffee , Beverages with wines and beers as well as fresh baked cookies daily. The breakfast were fresh with things from the garden and left you wanting more. The exterior deck and outdoor dining were wonderful and the staff top notch. We will always make this our preferred place to stay every summer in New Castle , Maine I only wished we had a bigger TV ..

Absolutely charming old and immaculate inn with superb breakfast included. Very reasonable rates. Lovely river view from breakfast deck. Damariscotta area is charming and unspoiled. Owner is friendly and pleasant (and her dog is very sweet). We can't say enough good things!

The Newcastle Inn was perfect in every way. Very comfortable. GREAT BREAKFAST! The grounds were SO BEAUTIFUL! It is centrally located so you can get to where ever you are going quickly. You could EASILY walk to downtown Damariscotta. Will def. stay again.
