We stayed one night in the Newgrange Lodge in order to visit the Newgrange monument. The staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. The room was small but comfortable, and reasonably clean. We did not take advantage of the lounge, but it looked welcoming. There was a good selection of food for breakfast. ||We had just arrived after traveling from North America, and needed to get sleep. When booking, I didn't realize the lodge hosts groups of children. The night we stayed a drama group was there, and housed in dormitory-style directly over our bedroom. The kids were so loud and their chaperones so ineffective we were unable to sleep. My husband went to the front desk twice and we have short intervals of happy silence, but it did not last. I finally approached one of the chaperones and she apologized and said all would be quiet by 11:30 pm. All was calm by about 12:30 pm and the chaperones were very apologetic the next morning. It is hard to keep groups of young people quiet and 11:30 is a reasonable time to expect them in bed. Had I known the lodge accommodated groups of school kids, I likely would have booked somewhere else.
