Newgrange Lodge is situated near the beautiful, quaint village of Donore, Co. Meath and is easily accessible from the M1 motorway. The lodge is an excellent place to stay when visiting nearby places of historical interest. The staff at Newgrange Lodge are friendly and welcoming. A special word of thanks to Lucia and her little dog Charlie! Bedrooms at the lodge aren't huge but equipped with everything the visitor needs. We like to cook so we were very pleased to find a well-appointed kitchen and dining room. There are some lovely comfortable sitting areas where visitors can relax to read or watch television. If the weather is fine, the sunny flower-filled deck offers picnic tables for visitors who want to enjoy a beer or a glass of wine outdoors. Breakfast is of a very high standard. I would recommend the full Irish - delicious! We look forward to visiting Newgrange Lodge again soon and urge readers of this piece to check it out. You won't be disappointed! Jackie

Nice staff. Very comfortable and clean, good price €20 for a room for myself for a night. Close to Newgrange and have an obstacle course and activities on sight so great for groups of young people. Free WiFi and lots of charger points in the dorm rooms. Verry accomidating for different dietary needs, they cooked my own prescription foods I brought and gave me access to a kitchen when ever I wanted.

We stayed one night in the Newgrange Lodge in order to visit the Newgrange monument. The staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. The room was small but comfortable, and reasonably clean. We did not take advantage of the lounge, but it looked welcoming. There was a good selection of food for breakfast. ||We had just arrived after traveling from North America, and needed to get sleep. When booking, I didn't realize the lodge hosts groups of children. The night we stayed a drama group was there, and housed in dormitory-style directly over our bedroom. The kids were so loud and their chaperones so ineffective we were unable to sleep. My husband went to the front desk twice and we have short intervals of happy silence, but it did not last. I finally approached one of the chaperones and she apologized and said all would be quiet by 11:30 pm. All was calm by about 12:30 pm and the chaperones were very apologetic the next morning. It is hard to keep groups of young people quiet and 11:30 is a reasonable time to expect them in bed. Had I known the lodge accommodated groups of school kids, I likely would have booked somewhere else.

We stayed several nights in the Newgrange Lodge. It did not live up to expectations but it was not horrible either, overall it was OK.| The good included a very friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast with a selection of food and a fantastic location for visiting Newgrange and the other archaeological sites in the region. There was good wifi in the lounge and a nice lounge to hang out in.| The bad mainly relates to the condition of the lodge. The rooms did not look like the pictures that the lodge publishes. All is a bit shabby and in need of an overhaul. Our room was a bit cramped for two people. The shower had rust stains and mildew. When we arrived there was a pile of dirty towels in the middle of the bathroom. Cleaning generally seemed a little lax. We found a bottle cap that was not from a bottle we opened, many dust bunnies under furniture and an English 5 pence that we did not bring.| You should be aware that the lodge caters to large groups of school children. The Danish group that was there while we were visiting were well mannered and not too loud.

Best choice if you want to get to Newgrange first thing. (Which you do). We paid €59 for a double and was the best value in the area. Continental breakfast. Clean, modern, comfortable, and friendly, I even got a free beer for my birthday! Great bar 5 min drive away.

We stayed here one night to tour the Newgrange neolithic tomb. The only downside was the visitor center being closed for rennovation. The lodge was right across the site, clean, quiet. We had to leave before the breakfast for a flight out of the Dublin airport. We had dinner in Donore which was a quick drive. The meal was good there and one interaction in particular with a local dog walker at the town cemetery was one of the most memorable ones of our trip. It was the best value for lodging for the whole trip. 70 Euros for a room for two including breakfast.

Stayed here for 1 night. Place was very clean and staff friendly. Breakfast was plentiful. The only thing is the walls are very thin and we were woken at 5am by the people next door. They must have been leaving early. We could here them talking and walking about. Also they were bangings doors. They should have had consideration for other guests. This would put me off going back

Stayed in the dormitory during February half term when it was quiet. Sleeps 12 in IKEA bunk beds, linen provided. Each bed has a reading light, plug & USB charger. Has ensuite toilet, sink, shower with plenty of towels, but would recommend bringing a towel for the shower. The staff are really friendly and helpful. My friends stayed in a room and it looked good. Nice accommodation at a sensible price. Would highly recommend.
