Newman Wine Vaults Provincial Historic Site

Even though the physical space may be small, these vaults were larger than life with rich history and surprises at every turn. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and have a wealth of knowledge. The wine sample was wonderful as well, there was even an interactive activity. If you have 30min to an hour to stop by, this is definitely worth you while.

Having visited Portugal, I can tell you the wine is authentic and offers a true Português experience. The tours are free and the hosts are very well versed. It is not an overly vast bond, so don't expect vaults and vaults and vaults. It is relatively small but offers a very vivid history. One taste is included, it is free. Unfortunately, you're not able to tip the servers for their hard work. It is a beautiful space, recently renovated and modern, to be admired.

Wonderfully informative guide. It is a short tour but very interesting! Plus the sample of wind was a lovely touch. What a nice break from the sun to learn a bit about the area.

Nice opportunity to learn about the history of port in St John's. Tour guide was very informative and we even got a little sample of port to try!

Very interesting tour detailing the history of Neman’s Port and how Newfoundland became a pivotal point in the quality of this ruby port.

Love the creepy vibe. Stone walls, low archways, jail cells. And the port was delicious. Learned a lot about the history of the former jail and how the Newman’s started make port liquor.

Very interesting history and a nice drink of the Port. Staff are friendly and well informed. A visit to this site also gives you a pass to the Colonial building.

The short guided tour and wine tasting was lovely. The guides were kind and informative, and we had some fun conversation with our fellow tourists. Definitely recommend as a warm stop on a cold day.
