"Newmarket Strikes Back Once the bastion of every designer in Auckland , these days Newmarket specializes in what it does best: upmarket retail stores for upmarket clientele. Even the mall in Newmarket, the imaginatively named Two Double Seven (its address is 277 Broadway), refuses to house lesser brands. If you have a shoe fetish, the suburb of Newmarket should be your first stop. Between Nuffield, Broadway, and Teed streets there are over 20 shoe stores, and if you need to have a break from carrying all those shoe bags, there are cafes and bars aplenty on the side streets."

Yelp
Located in the centre of New Zealand's largest city, Newmarket is Auckland's premier shopping, entertainment and hospitality precinct. Known for its boutique-lined streets and cobbled laneways, Newmarket is home to 600+ retail stores, over 120 cafes, bars and restaurants, a bowling alley, 3 movie complexes, and New Zealand's best mall - Westfield Newmarket. A week before Christmas, Tuesday at 6:00 pm & the area was dead. Shops were closed, many were out of business. We were hungry and wanted to get something to eat we ended up going to the food hall at the mall. We found out afterwards that businesses that so short staffed hear that they're closed on Monday and Tuesday. Perhaps another day would be better and it was just us.
