We went here to celebrate my birthday. We had a reservation for 8 o'clock. We were 10 min late and they were still able to get us in on a Friday. We got a couple different dishes. My favorite was the 6 peice Nigiri sampler, pork gyoza, red dragon roll. I did not enjoy the tenderloin skewers. They seemed to be the off cuts and for the amount you get I think there are better options for the price. I dont think the waitress ever told us the specials. I loved the Japanese indigo beverage and the golden orchard. My partner got the branzino which was perfectly cooked. For a special occasion this was worth every penny!!!

The atmosphere was very luxurious and we got a table near the sushi bar which was cool. The service was good and he gave great recommendations, he was little stinky though…so that was a bit of a mood killer. The food was A-MAZE-ING, so damn good and the drinks were perfect. Definitely will go again when I have that extra money to roll around in haha

The main room is the best designed out of all the rooms so request that when reserving. Recommend the tuna tartare, Caesar salad, and Yuzu mocktail. Wouldn’t get again the sea bass, king salmon or truffle fries (just not worth the price is all). Will definitely be back for the first few dishes.

Went here on Friday to celebrate my Fiancé’s graduation from chiropractic school with our parents. Food was delicious, atmosphere was great, aesthetic was beautiful, and service was excellent! Tanya started us off with prosecco to celebrate and I enjoyed a Lychee Martini and my Father the ND margarita! We ordered Yellowtail Ceviche, Pork Gyoza, Porkbelly Skewers, Edamame, Red Dragon Roll and Tuna Tartare for appetizers (all super delicious)! For dinner we ordered the Red Dragon roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Salmon and the Seabass for dinner. They then brought Dubai Chocolates for us to enjoy during the bill. Everything was superb and we felt well taken care of and special! We highly recommend!!

Next Door Restaurant delivered an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. Our server, Robert, was exceptional. He was attentive without being intrusive, incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, and clearly passionate about the food and drinks. He offered thoughtful recommendations and answered every question with confidence, which helped to make choices about quantity of food as well as flavor profiles. The rest of the staff was equally welcoming and professional, making the atmosphere feel relaxed and well cared for. I highly recommend the Red Dragon sushi roll it was beautifully presented, perfectly balanced, and packed with flavor. The seared scallop nigiri was delicate and fresh, with a perfect sear that enhanced the natural sweetness of the scallop. And the ribeye was cooked to perfection. It was tender, juicy, and full of rich, savory flavor that easily rivaled a high-end steakhouse. Between the service, staff, and truly excellent food, Next Door is a place I would highly recommend and can’t wait to return to.

Came here for a business dinner. The ambience was super modern, inviting and comfortable. The service was above average with very knowledgeable servers. The food was super high quality. This place looked and felt super high end with quality products. The bar was also a really nice space worth checking out. Definitely will go back.

Great atmosphere—lighting was just right and not too dim, and sound levels were nice. There was also complimentary valet parking. Food was also amazing, although I found the sushi roll underwhelming, especially for a sushi restaurant. Other foods, such as the steak and burgers, were fantastic.

Food was excellent, especially the skewer apps, eggplant and cauliflower dishes and desserts (chocolate miso and semifreddo). Also great drinks and service. Beautiful decor inside and out; there's a patio for outdoor dining.

We visit Next Door a few times a year, and every time we're reminded why it's one of the best dining experiences in Rochester. Honestly, we should go more often because everything -- the service, the atmosphere, the menu -- is consistently impeccable. The menu changes periodically, which means some favorites come and go, but they're always replaced by new standouts. On our latest visit, we enjoyed a leisurely dinner on the beautiful patio near the wood fireplace, and the experience was perfect from start to finish. The miso soup was unique and deeply flavorful, with shrimp, tofu, and luxurious shimeji mushrooms. The baby gem and watercress salad surprised us with its creamy wasabi-cucumber dressing and refreshing crunch -- unexpectedly delicious. The grilled zucchini, glazed with honey soy and tarragon miso, was fantastic, especially where it had a bit of char. The sushi rolls were all incredibly fresh and perfectly balanced -- from the spicy yellowtail with serrano chili to the tempura shrimp with toasted coconut, to the inventive veggie and red dragon rolls. And for dessert, we tried the Chocolate Sensation, which honestly deserves a better menu description -- the sobacha, hazelnut, miso milk jam, and white chocolate ice cream combination sounds unusual, but it was outstanding and should not be missed. Next Door remains at the top of our list for high-end dining in the Rochester area. If you haven't been, put it on your list -- it really can't be beat. We'll definitely be back again soon.

We were pleasantly surprised when we came back to dine at Next Door, and found that they had revamped their entire menu as well as the interior decor. I love the new gold accents, from table lamps, to wall paintings, to chairs, to plants and even their plates. Service was excellent as usual and the food was amazing. We started off with the tuna tartare which melts in your mouth. Paired with the rice chip, avocado and yuzu sauce, it was like eating a symphony in your mouth. Just like Remy in Ratatouille said, when you combine two things, new flavors are created. Next we're the seared salmon, seared, scallops and seared wagyu. When I say they melt in your mouth, I mean they MELT in your mouth. My favorite was the salmon, followed by the wagyu and then the scallops. Honestly they were so good. Then came the roasted eggplant and they had the coolest bamboo sticks that you use to consume in one bite. The crispy rice on top complemented the eggplant so well. A delight with every bite. Finally we ended our meal with the grass fed ribeye which was savory, flavorful, tender and grilled perfectly to medium-rare. I loved how we were able to order so much and share them between each other. We were full and very content with our meal. We love the new menu and cannot wait to come back and try more dishes!

I'm a frequent flyer of Next Door. A big reason is because we have a wine locker, so there isn't any corkage fee for us. The ambiance is upscale and It's a nice place to bring guests, especially out-of-towners They have renovated and changed their menu. Unfortunately, I like their old menu better. I used to always get the Bento box, which is no longer an option. There new food items are still good, but like others have mentioned a little on the pricier side. I am still a fan because the service at Next Door is top notch, even though you pay a premium for it. They also host wine pairing dinners (Merry Edwards, Moet, Roederer, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Lafite) that I enjoy attending. So yeah, maybe for the special occasion. The no corkage fee for having a wine locker is the biggest draw for me.

Wow! I was in the area for work and a friend had suggested it and it blew me away! Great vibe and terrific service from the minute we walked in. The food --- 5***** Everything we had was cooked perfectly and loaded with flavor - the beef tenderloin with brioche mushroom crumble - outstanding! And don't miss out on the baked cheesecake for two with panko macadamia crumble, mango sorbet. Amazing!

Some of the best food I have had in Rochester. We sat at the bar....Kit was amazing bartender friendly and made good suggestions . Large bar and drink selections, no TV's. It was bustling. I liked the decor but it might not be your thing. Lighiting is low.. .so bring your glasses. We kept it simple Tuna Tataki, the "watercress salad" and the shrimp tempura sushi roll . All were fresh and delicious. The Tuna Tataki dish was so.good....we ordered it twice! The sauce is so good I wanted to lick the plate. We will definitely go back.

Next Door by Wegmans offers a valet service. I don't think it's necessary since it's the only restaurant there but sure. The doors open to 2 walls of Granny Smith apples, different. It is dimly lit and you can see into the wine storage areas. I made a reservation and our table was ready when we arrived. The waiter informed us they had recently remodeled and now the menu is meant for sharing. The first item we ordered was the tuna tartare, it was very refreshing and light. The crispy rice served as a voyager for the tuna tartare. I remembered from last time that the nigiri had wasabi underneath so I ordered it without it. Next up we ordered the nigiri; shrimp, scallop, salmon, and yellowtail. The shrimp was cooked, I was expecting sweet raw shrimp. I wouldn't paid have for cooked shrimp over rice if I knew that. The scallop was nice and sweet. The salmon, salmon roe, and yellowtail was okay. It's very expensive, 3 pieces for $18-$24! We ordered the Chilean sea bass with tomato curry broth to share, $46. It was good, pan seared served with salad. Our dining experience was okay, I've been here a few times but it is very overpriced. For being that expensive, I expect the best quality seafood.

Glad I got to try this place before I moved since we had been meaning to come for years and years. I would say we had a very good experience as we were able to reserve/somehow got counter seating in the back where all the magic (cooking) was happening. It was really entertaining to see all of the food being smoked, chopped, cooked, etc and felt kind of like an omakase experience. Prices are definitely hefty hear but it did feel like an upscale experience. We really went for anything we wanted and ended up getting some delicioius nigiri (including lean tuna, a scallop and seared scallop truffle and a salmon), eggplant lollipops, grillled fish, a steak and a chocolate dessert and a few rolls. The total was over $315 for the 4 of us but it felt well worth it. Everything was very nicely cooked and tasted great and it was a tasty dining experience. When you hear Wegman's and think of the grocery store, this is completely different. Worth coming here for a special celebration/treat.

Food was delicious. Service was nice and the atmosphere was very fancy. They did not skimp on the drinks either

Over priced and not worth what you pay/the trouble/hype. We used to love this place. We don't like the recent changes to the menu, pricing, and decor. This isn't a "Next Door" or Grill menu. It's Asian fusion and I know better Japanese restaurants in the area. Now you pay for sides separately and prices have gone up. 15 bucks for half a sweet potato that wasn't good at all. $15 for a tiny lava cake with a thimble of icecream. Portioning on the miso soup is half what it used to be. The steak was good but price went up. Truffle fries and service are the only reasons to go back. The bill was $250 for me and my wife by the end. If you want cocktails and good truffle fries sure... beyond that if you want fine dining and ambiance I feel you should look somewhere else.

From the service to the food ... incredible! And we're a tough pair, my husband has a severe allergy , they paid close attention to it with everything , even avoiding cross contamination. Our server John was so knowledgeable and detailed when explaining things on the menu. Drinks superb . Everything top quality , from Food , ambience , the service , the drinks , everything... now we just need one in Florida . But this will be my Go to spot when we come up quarterly for work! Def a favorite !

Straight up nirvana. The sweet potato dish was so amazing I could live off the salt and butter they serve with it....I would be gout ridden but in pure bliss. The steak skewers were pricey but insane. Buttery rich meat that melted when chewing. The servers make this place truly special. I picked the chicken dish as it was starting to get a bit pricey but it was delicious crunchy and paired amazingly with the complex sauces that somehow had 4-5 flavors one appearing after the other in sequence like it was arranged that way. Sauce alchemy. The desserts were to die for as well. The shareable cheesecake was so good even me a lactose intolerant took the plunge and suffered the aftermath. It was complete perfection on a plate. Half creme brûlée. Arranged with many bits of popped rice and nuts...Genius. Give this place a try.

I wanted to say upfront that the Next Door bar and grill had a lovely vibe and a good happy hour; but the price of the food is just too high for what it is I always sit at the bar and the service is excellent - the bartender was super on top of things! The drinks were great but if it was Not the happy hour prices I wouldn't think it would be worth it I did like the hummus but the sushi itself was not that special for 19 bucks for 6 rolls The chicken appetizer was ok, but not spectacular Overall service is 5/5, food is 3-4/5, and prices are the biggest down side I still think you should give the drinks a chance for Happy hour

We were in town for my niece's graduation and were looking for a nice place to celebrate. The food, service and experience were all top notch . We had the beef tenderloin, ribeye, salmon, zucchini, sweet potato, truffle fries, cheesecake and chocolate tart. All were excellent and our table kept raving about all the delicious sauces and flavors. Our waitress was friendly and they made sure to celebrate her as a new graduate. It was a great night. I grew up here and live in San Francisco now and would choose Next Door against some of my favorite west coast restaurants.

Food was great! The ambiance is so calming, very modern. The service was the best part! Our waitress, Sarah, was stellar! She was so nice and high energy. Seemed eager to be there. Super sociable and friendly.

From the ambiance to the food to the service Next Door is amazing! We have been there three times now and it never disappoints. The food reminds me of a dinner that we would have in NYC or Chicago from a world famous chef. It is great to be able to sit and watch the chefs work their magic in the main dining room, the decor is beautiful. The service has always been impeccable each time we went, nothing was overlooked and very attentive. This is our favorite restaurant in Rochester!

THE WORST! I've been here 2 hours for a pre fix dinner with ONE course and ONE drink. The lobster ravioli had ONE ravioli. We're starving. My boyfriend left to get us roast beef sandwiches from Arby's down the street while we wait. What a JOKE. Don't come here. It's NOT worth it.

Amazing sushi & soup-a great lunch and good beverages to compliment the sushi. After work we enjoyed cocktails in the bar yum! Great selection and close to my office. Thanks Next Door

They have such unique dishes here. The flavors are absolutely amazing. I loved everything that we got. Sushi and pastas. It's definitely an experience dining here. Such a beautiful atmosphere.

Located across the street from the Wegmans in Pittsford, Next Door is the sophisticated and modern restaurant you can impress with on date night. Filled with soft, dim lighting and cozy booths, the interior is romantic and intimate. The stone walls and earthy tones contrast nicely with the shiny and expansive open kitchen, where you can watch the chefs create each dish. We each ordered a bento box - one with miso salmon, and another with the slow cooked short rib. Each box came with a small side of salad, six pieces of sashimi, pickled veggies, and half a red dragon roll. The salmon and short ribs each sat on a bed of cooked white rice and sesame seeds. The salmon was incredible. Extremely tender, juicy, and cooked to the point where it melted in my mouth. The short ribs were also very flavorful, but the portion was smaller than the salmon. The sashimi was cut beautifully and tasted very fresh. The red dragon roll was delicious as well. The pickled veggies came with mushroom and eggplant and were smothered with a delicious garlic sauce. I would highly recommend the bento box if you're stopping by!

Amazing! Tuna tartare is stunning. The spicy margarita is great. Ben is the best server I may have ever had. He deserves the most!! wonderful experience and ambiance.

The bronzini Mediterranean fish, similar to Sea Bass in flavor was one of the market specials on a Tuesday night. It was the whole fish which you could either have served as such or filleted. I opted for the fillet and I was very pleased. It had a crisp sear on both skins and the meat was flaky and flavorful. It was served atop roasted Brussels sprouts and potatoes, mushrooms, and drizzled with a red beet bearnaise, all for $27. The cocoa nib brownie dessert was deliciously rich. It came with a small scoop of butterscotch ice cream. I wasn't a fan of the crunchy topping which had somewhat of an 'off' texture. Not sure how to describe it but it was slightly offputting. There were drops of raspberry compote on the plate as well. A lot of different flavors for sure but I really wanted more butterscotch flavor and caramel would have been nice, too. Overall, it was very tasty and I finished it all. Nice ambiance for date night.

I made just a quick stop into Next Door for happy hour, but this gorgeous spot made quite an impression! I met my boyfriend after work and we ordered some cocktails and two sushi rolls, with the total coming to ~$25! An awesome happy hour deal (only available in the bar) in a beautiful setting. Can't beat it! My moscow mule was beyond tasty, and the sushi rolls we sampled were great. We opted for the spicy tuna, which is not overly spicy and did not skimp on the raw fish, and the crazy roll sub avocado for cream cheese. The crazy roll would obviously be better as intended, but the cream cheese (and the option to substitute) was much appreciated. I had no idea this space was so moody! Brides on a Bachelorette party venue hunt: I would HIGHLY recommend doing the classy/early portion of your evening in one of the bar "cabanas." Such a fun, semi-private space that I hope to take a group to at some point in the very near future!

Amazing sushi . One of the best sushi I've ever had. The wine was so nice. They have an amazing wine list . The decor is amazing. If you want to have a family dinner or business meeting you should definitely book their room . They even have separate banquet for a party . The service was amazing . My favorite place all time for sushi

I simply didn't get this place. I understand Wegmans is beloved in Rochester, however I felt like I was in a grocery store promotion. Atmosphere was pleasing overall. Food was good overall with proper portions which I prefer, however the price is way out of wack. Menu is limited, however a variety of selections. Service was above standards which is hard to find these days. The cashier Wegmans look for the servers needs to go as I felt like I was eating in a grocery store. Pretty sure this is a one and done place due to the price not matching the portions and other similar restaurants are above par in comparison.

I can't say enough good things about our Igloo dining experience last weekend! What a great idea, especially during these trying COVID times! Next Door has 3 igloos, and they only do 2 seatings a night. FYI - they're booked out through March already! (we were lucky to get in so early!) The Igloos are very sturdy and wonderfully decorated. Each igloo is constructed on a platform (not directly on concrete) and has 2 heaters inside so it's toasty warm! Our waiter, John, was amazing! He was funny, courteous and attentive. About out meal: - They are not doing bread service now during the pandemic. So I ordered the vegetable salad and it was soooo good! It was a very generous portion and Kevin and I split it. - Drink menu is good! They have speciality cocktails, wine, beer and liquor. We thoughly enjoyed our beverages. - Our dinners were simply amazing.... I had the Next Door Bolognese. Pasta was well cooked. Portion was great (took it home for dinner the next night) Kevin had the ribeye steak. It was cooked perfectly and you could cut it with a butter knife. It melts in your mouth. The only issue I had with that was the price. $45.00 for a ribeye is a bit overpriced, as you get a little bit of mashed potatoes and some brussel sprouts with it. But it was totally worth it. - They had an option of 2 desserts so we took one of each to go (I was too stuffed from dinner!). The almond cake with pomegranate seeds was good, but the Chocolote Dome.... O. M. G! You have to order this. Decadent! We will definitely go back!

Next Door is one of our go-to restaurants when we are in town. Our team periodically travels to Rochester and dinner here is always a great meal with great service. We highly recommend next door!

Food menus are way over priced . Food is average. But I do like the waitress service very attentive.

Amazing!! I was visiting from NYC and blown away by this restaurant!! The decor, the food, the overall experience was incredible!! Perfect for a romantic date night or elegant dinner! Complimentary valet service parked our car and the hostess checked our coats. On a Saturday night we were able to get a 7:45pm reservation. I was immediately in awe of the decor! They have wine lockers (in a locked room) for rent where people can store their wine. The bar area was pretty big with a few TVs. Private sitting lounges that looked comfy were off the side of the bar. We entered the main dining area which was huge; over 50 tables with a eat in counter as well (see pics below). Our server was good giving us recommendations. We ordered lots of sushi, the duck dish, and crab and avocado salad. Everyone was fantastic. The sushi was some of the best I've had. Most rolls range from $10-$17 in price. Entrees run between $20-$35. I thought the portion sizes were fair considering the presentation and quality of the food that was being served! After dinner, I walked around to see the other areas for the restaurant. They offer a test kitchen area for cooking classes and cooking demonstrations. They also have private dining rooms that can be closed off from the main dining area; perfect for business lunch/dinner meetings! Bathrooms were elegant and impeccably clean! Overall, great job Wegmans!! I will be raving about this restaurant once I get home to NYC! Please open one in Manhattan; New York City folks would eat this place right up!!

If I could rate 6 stars I would.... We got John with a side of food. If you come here, make sure you ask for John. Travel plans, energetic, food recommendations, you name it. John has it. 5/5 meal and experience!!

Next door is much more than the Wegmans hot foods bar. I love their sushi and wine selection for a quick bite to eat at the bar. A few of the bartenders are downright rude and ignore you (has happened several times with the same person) but everyone else is great. The vibe varies when you go during the week vs weekend- leans a little "I'm a finance bro and want to meet up with my buddy after a long day" but also gives off some slight mid 50s swinger vibes but who is to judge. It remains a staple place for us to go when we don't want to cook!

Came with a group of friends and found the service to be very on and off. We felt rushed to put in an order but then waited forever for food to come. One member of our party had to leave early and I had to leave before her food had even arrived. Once we started eating then we felt very rushed again with service staff clearing plates while we were still eating. Then when we got the bill we had to lay down our leader to get him to come and take it and cash us out. We all have sushi which was good but since this is a Wegmans owned restaurant it's hard to pay a lot more for the same thing you can get freshly made at the store.

What a surprising gem of a restaurant! I'm not from the area but my sister (who lives here) recommended it and I was blown away by how thorough and caring they were with the food allergies and dietary restrictions of my party. The restaurant itself was very clean, cozy and beautiful. There was one small mistake with one of the orders but the staff and managers went above and beyond to rectify it (and they were very busy too, so thanks so much for the consideration!) The food was delicious and the quality was good! My only regret is that I didn't have time to check out the bar (their drinks looked so tempting) Definitely going to come back next time I'm in town!

My fiancé and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day a little early and we had a great experience here on a Saturday night. We started off the the fried duck and arugula salads. The fried duck was SO good, super crispy and a nice subtle duck flavor. If you are not super adventurous with your pallet but want to try something different, this would be perfect. We also got the truffle Mac n cheese app, which I will be thinking about until I come back and eat it again . Super creamy and lots of truffle flavor with mini mushroom pieces throughout the dish. This was definitely one of our favorites. For the sushi we got the cali roll, spicy salmon, red dragon and cocomo. The Cali roll has real crab in it, not imitation crab which most people are probably accustomed to, so be prepared for a much more fishier flavor. My fiancé's favorite roll was the cocomo, which had thin slices avocado on the outside. My favorite was the Red dragon, such smooth flavors with yummy tuna on top. I really liked the spicy salmon too but the sauce on top reminded me of a spicy honey mustard which was very overpowering. Everything was washed down with a lychee martini, which I highly recommend if you like slightly sweeter light drinks. We had a great time and our server was awesome. We'll definitely be back.

!!THIS IS JUST FOR THE BAR AREA!!! Ok we celebrated a friends birthday and went for Happy Hour (4-7pm) This was my first visit and what a surprise it was to see the inside. It's color scheme is all warm,soft colors and rustic touches of wood. The bar area is large and they also have outdoor seating. I'm not a particular fan of a big a&$ TV in a bar/restaurant. Hey that's me.. our Bartender Drea was fabulous and made us some fabulous cocktails. We than asked if we could possibly sit in the booths with the leather banquets and low table, interesting pillows and some privacy curtains a sexy touch. WE LOVED IT! We ordered the sushi it was well put together and beautifully plated. They brought more soy sauce, pickled ginger and wasabi. My only issue was some of my rolls when I picked them up they got loose and it was a bit messy for me to eat with grace with chopsticks. The area we sat was sexy and modern but if you want to eat here in all honesty sit at the bar or get a table in the restaurant. It's more in the vein of going to da club for bottle service. Yeaaaa Boyz! But eating anything here although tasty.. just be aware. Our server when we sat in our banquet was lovely and took very good care of us.. I think her name was Sharon? But I digress...the menu for other things look promising and I would like to come back to try dinner or another Happy Hour with friends. Staff is great, eats tasty and lovely mixed drinks. Yes it's a WEGMANS owned spot but worth the visit. They they have parking as they have a private lot. Cheers!

WOW! Just had the opportunity to attended a work event in one of Next Doors "Test Kitchen" and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed myself. First, we enjoyed cocktails and apps in the kitchen's Library. There is plenty of space to sit in the library's many chairs and couches and relax while chatting. (Great concept by the way. The ambiance this room offers makes you feel like you're at a fancy friend's winter ski home or something! It's just missing a fire place.) Also, lots of room to stand and chat. We opted for the private bar as well, so that was an added bonus. No lines, no waiting! The chef, Jeremy, began to quietly prepared our pre-determined family style dinner in the background. The "test Kitchen" has a galley style set up. Large grill/burners and counter prep area. I asked Jeremy if he would be explaining everything he was doing to the crowd. He said that it was up to us. He could give a step by step, or people can stop over and ask questions at their leisure, or we can completely ignore him. These are all options, and he has experienced them all with previous groups. We chose to watch and ask at his leisure. Overall it wasn't a showy display that you would encounter at a hibachi restaurant. But, certainly entertaining if you took the time to stop and watch. The food actually tasted amazing. I am far more impressed with the flavors that were developed here than the food I had ordering off the restaurant menu at a previous outing for work. We started with a salad that had an interesting dressing. I could taste both balsamic and red wine vinegars. Next came the pasta bolognaise. Pretty good (but I've had better). The roasted chicken had both great flavor and perfectly crispy skin. This was served on a bed of white beans and mushrooms. I highly recommend! The ribeye's were cooked, sliced, and presented perfectly. Super flavorful on a bed of polenta. Mmmmmm! Even the seasonal veggies (snow peas and asparagus) were excellent. So fresh, bright green, and perfectly cooked. How pleasantly surprised I was. And stuffed! We finished off with 3 tiered deserts that were pre-planned by someone on our team. Expected a large 3 tier display 9something you might see at a wedding or baby shower), but, NO, everyone received their own 3 tier display. Each tier containing 1 sample of dessert. We had the ice cream, turtle cheesecake, and Crème brûlée. Im not usually a fan of Crème brûlée, but I was into this one. The top was so perfectly caramelized that when I dipped my spoon it, it was like I was breaking glass. I wish all 3 tiers contained that! Overall... I really recommend the Test Kitchen for those seeking a private, yet inviting setting for corporate or family events. But, you will be spending a pretty penny. So make sure it's the right occasion to be shelling out that kinda dough!

Remarkably bad hostess and front staff. Hostile and not gracious when they make an error and do nothing to acknowledge an issue. We had a reservation for 3 and confirmed it an hour before. We arrived 5 minutes early. The hostess greeted my wife and son by challenging them as to where our third person was. I was parking the car. The hostess insisted we asked for a 2 top despite our open table confirmation and earlier question about the whereabouts of our third person They offered outdoor seating but the patio was cold and had felt like it was in the parking lot. The hostess and manager left us standing in the hallway, did nothing to acknowledge our discomfort. Food and waitstaff was great but the hostile and inept greeting destroyed the experience.

Pretty good 4.5 star experience. Service was pretty good (except for my water glass being empty throughout the meal). Miso Soup menu description should specifically disclose that it contains shellfish in it for those with allergies or religious issues. I'm up from Miami and was hunting for some Chilean Sea Bass which seems to be a rarity in haddock + salmon biasedRochester...and admittedly a very long flight from near the South Pole. The fish had a very tasty curry sauce though a couple of bites were unusually fishy given that this is usually a mild fish. Dessert was very good as were the sake and cappucino. All in all, one of the better restaurants in Rochester and one that seems to be making a serious effort to raise the dining quality in town. I'd certainly give it another visit. Many thanks to the downtown Rochester fish market that kindly suggested that I might find sea bass here!!

Dissapointed last night at a special birthday dinner with friend. We had asked to sit outside but were informed they were waiting for outdoor furniture. We were seated in a lonely back room area and when we asked if we could sit in the nicely lit and more lively dining room where they were other patrons we were told that the tables were all reserved. We observed during our departure that none of the many tables that were open had been used. Very dissapointing.

We have been dining at Next Door since Wegman's opened this spot in Pittsford. This was my first visit since Covid shut down occurred March 2020 and unfortunately service and attention to detail has declined substantially. Most notable was waiting a substantial time to be greeted by the server despite an empty Tuesday night lounge scene, and waiting an eternity to be served drinks, ordering one drink from the QR menu that was no longer available, having to ask the server to return to take my brother's entree order because she walked away immediately after taking my entree order and finally, not receiving the dumplings we ordered. I was super excited to order a gin cocktail "Allow me to Clarify" and the server explained that cocktail was no longer an option. Then why isn't the QR menu updated? My brother ordered a Bloody Mary which was not delivered with my substitute cocktail after a 20 minute wait. Not exaggerating 20 minutes. The server promised it would be just a moment more for the Bloody and returned empty handed about five minutes later. Please just tell us from the jump the bar was out of tomato juice no mystery needed! After I ordered my sushi roll and sashimi the server ran away from the table and my brother had to shout "Excuse Me, I need to order!" We were so puzzled why the server did not anticipate that my brother was going to order an entree? When we finished our sushi I asked my brother if he wanted the dumplings to go? He decided No saying, Its been two hours already and she obviously forgot the order...Face palm to forehead...It was such a delayed, scattered and unattentive service experience from the bar and front of the house. Truly disappointing after spending $147 and leaving a $37 because we always tip well regardless how poor the service. I hope Wegman's can resolve these issues quickly because there is a lot of competition in Pittsford.

This is the fanciest place I have been in Rochester. The food is great, but the wine selection is excellent. Be prepared to be amazed with a sober and elegant ambiance.

Good place for lunch! Our group of six stopped in for lunch at Next Door. The menu offers salads, burgers, Mac and cheese, chicken, salmon, a choice of sushi. We had salmon, organic field green salad topped with chicken, and blue crab on salad. I had a Bento Box and it was great. I was served miso soup, then pork belly, sushi roll of spicy tuna, six pieces of sashimi, custard with edamame, one piece of shrimp tempura, salad, rice. Everything was presented nicely. The dining room is open and a little loud, the private dining rooms are quieter. Great service. All in all, an excellent lunch.

We went there for Valentine's Day. Before we arrived, they made a point of emphasizing that we were to get there on time and only stay for a certain amount of time. When we arrived on time, they kept us waiting for over a half hour and the person seating people complained openly to us about another couple staying past their allotted time. They said we could go to the bar, but did not offer us a complementary drink or hors d'oeuvres, so we were relegated to sitting at the front watching other couples who came in after us getting seated. When we were finally seated the service was extremely slow, the food mediocre, and the whole experience far below what I expected from a restaurant that touts itself as a fine dining establishment. How far Next Door has fallen! We have written it off our list of go to restaurants.

Drinks are fabulous! We loved the Revival and Coconut Marguerite!! Fabulous on both selections! Trish,our bartender knows her stuff plus she was so very wonderful to visit with! Next our appetizer that was shared was the Pastrami Pork Belly!! Beautiful to the eye and delicious to the palate! I ordered the Alaskan Halibut as my entree and my husband ordered the Burger. Everything was exquisitely prepared!! So happy we stopped in! One side note- pricing is on the high side taking into consideration the buying power of Wegmans for ingredients but it has improved since our last visit 5 years ago!

We came here for dinner after work on a Friday night. Parking lot is spacious so we had no problem parking. We were seated after about 15-minute wait at the bar. Setting is nice with a small dance floor next to two large circular booth areas that provide classy seating for groups or people to mingle. The server was attentive and helpful, with great manners. For appetizers, we had the Vegetable and Red Dragon Rolls, Pastrami Pork Belly, Truffle Mac n Cheese. All were pretty good and savory. For entrees, I got the Berkshire Pork Chop ($34, overpriced imo), with local polenta, roasted apples and cabernet sauce. Pretty good, not as tender as I'd like but it may be personal preference. I didn't get alcoholic drinks. My friend got Rieslings. Presentation, ambiance, and service - 5/5. Food - 3.5/5. Price - 3/5 (somewhat overpriced but I guess that comes with the nice ambiance and design). Overall - 4/5.

Very excited to finally check this place out...as you enter this place you are greeted with the fresh smell of apples... thanks to the surrounding shelves of apples. The decor is earthy and fun, loved the white bark tree wall to separate the bar area to the dining area. The bar area was more modern with the cool blue lights, private couches and long open bar. Had a whiskey and diet, bartender made it perfect! Since it was such a beautiful night we had dinner outside on the patio. We ordered a few appetizers for the table to share, Truffle Mac n' Cheese... oh my so good! California Roll, fresh and tasty. Naan Pizza was another hit with the group. Edamame, large helping! I had the pan seared scallops as my main dish,wow...simply wow! Fresh tender scallops with pork belly, harvest vegetables, carrot fennel sauce,and sesame crumble....so amazing! \
