A very large hotel spilt between a lower and upper area connect be a walkway. The rooms we large and modern with everything you would need. We upgrade to a sea view and had a lovely large balcony. The hotel is trying to be very hip and trendy but lacks personality. Service was functional but we didn’t get any information when we checked in. There wasn’t anything in the room either. The hotel relies on everything being done via an app but that didn’t work very well. The location is pretty good, only a 5 min walk to the marina and the outskirts of Funchal. The breakfast was pretty basic, although had a good selection. The breakfast room was large, badly decorated and not pleasant to eat in.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, most were smiling and welcoming making you feel like a valued guest. Location of the hotel is great for walking into Funchal, or to head in the opposite direction to the lido down the coast. The salt water pool was cool but lovely once you braved getting in. Having direct sea access was also a plus. The rooftop pool gave some amazing views. Overall a lovely stay with great breakfasts in a very clean hotel. We would have liked a bit more choice each day on the Half Board option - a choice of 2 options for each course is quite limited. Possibly consider B&B as there are plenty of options around the hotel, and you could pick from the full menu if you wanted to eat in, rather than have the limited choice on HB. The bed was rather hard, we did get used to it after a few days. We definitely enjoyed the sea view room. A lovely holiday!

This is an updated review based on our third visit (2022, 2023 and 2025)||This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at, principally due to the very laid back atmosphere and a brilliant team who really do make you feel like a welcome and valued guest.||The hotel rooms are modern, clean, well-equipped and (we had an Ocean Suite) very spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable and made for a great night's sleep.||Bathrooms are smart and showers very good, with complimentary handwash, soap and shower gel included. Towels are changed as required but the hotel also encourages eco-responsible behaviour, so won't change them until you indicate you want them changing. Pool towels are provided in your room and at poolside.||Breakfast, if included, is provided as a very varied buffet in a room to the right as you enter the hotel, and you can also pay to have breakfast by the pool. The breakfasts are really good, with some variations each day, and hot & cold items, fruit, yoghurts, pastries, juices, prosecco and good tea/coffee are all included. There is lactose free milk and oatmilk on the buffet, and chefs will cook individual items to request (e.g. my wife is lactose intolerant so the chef made scrambled eggs with LF milk).||The pool area, bar and dining room are also a highlight, with both a nice pool and access into a sea bathing area in a small "harbour", as well as to the ocean via another access point.||The poolside menu is great, with lots of choices during the day and with a larger evening menu, and is good value for money. We eat there several times and the quality was great, with nothing that we chose being anything less than very well prepared, served and presented. There are QR codes scattered around so you can access the menu, and staff will serve in the restaurant area or to your lounger.||The hotel has a great rooftop bar, often with a DJ playing "ambient" music, but not so loud that you can't relax and chat. Prices are competitive and service friendly and swift. There is also a rooftop pool but we didn't try it, preferring to go downstairs and have both pool and sea options.||The hotel has a gym - but we were on holiday, so gave it a swerve!||If you want to hire a car, there is also a car park accessible to guests, but this wasn't something we used.||The hotel is on a hillside location at what we would describe as the "edge" of Funchal, just near the port, and you could walk into the old town in 20 minutes, depending on how fast you walked or how hot is is. Download the Bolt app and never have to wait more than 3-5 minutes for a modern, clean, well-driven car (mostly electric) to arrive in any location, and a typical €5 Bolt ride would get you to the cable car station in just over five minutes, and then you are in the heart of the old town. We'd describe the location is ideal - not in the busy tourist area, but not too far out to make it a chore or expensive to get around.||We still can't praise the people working in the hotel enough - many of them still there since our last two visits in 2022 and 2023, obviously enjoying what they do, working as part of a great team and - above all - ensuring you are having a wonderful holiday!

We booked our New Year’s Eve dinner and party at the hotel after watching a promotional video that set high expectations. While the food was very good, the lack of entertainment and poor organization made the overall experience disappointing. The table that we were allocated was for eight people, but only three seats were actually set up. Due to bad weather, the party was moved to the lobby, which was not ideal, as guests were constantly walking through the reception area. The fireworks were scheduled to be viewed upstairs, but when we arrived around 11:15 p.m., there was no staff present, no Prosecco, and no guidance from the team. I expected a much better organized event, with stronger entertainment and a more suitable space for the celebration. Although the pool view was fantastic, the experience did not justify the price paid. Given the Savoy’s reputation and quality standards, this was especially disappointing.

Super hotel. Easy walking distance to Funchal centre. Staff in reception, breakfast and dining room perfect. ||Had a studio with sea view which was lovely. Spotlessly clean, small kitchenette with fridge, kettle and hob and kitchen utensils if you want to cook in. ||Room cleaned daily and fresh fluffy towels. ||Good hot shower - split bathroom with shower on one side and toilet on the other - which was open to the room but both had individual doors. ||I had booked half board so ate in the restaurant most evenings. Was a nice surprise that the menu was a la carte and everything I had was delicious. Lovely setting in the evening, very attentive staff and great food. ||Breakfast - loads of choice: hot and cold. ||As other reviewers have said, there isn’t much space for clothes etc in the toom - just hanging rail and a couple of drawers open plan. It’s also v dark even with the lights on depending on what time of year you are there. ||Try out the treatment of room - I had a great massage here.

We were extremely disappointed with the New Year’s Eve party, especially considering the €350 price per person. Due to the weather, dinner was moved downstairs, but guests were split across two rooms, with many tables left half empty. Our table was set for eight people, yet it was occupied only by myself, my partner, and a random guest placed with us, which made the entire evening very uncomfortable. Drink service was very slow, and we repeatedly had to search for a waiter. While the food itself was good, it was served buffet-style, which felt underwhelming for an event at this price point. Overall, the setup looked cheap and poorly organised, with minimal entertainment. Although there was some dancing, the advertised “wicked” theme was unclear and poorly executed. Despite being marketed for younger guests, the crowd was mainly of families, with children running around throughout the evening. Staff seemed unsure of what was happening, and there was little to no guidance for guests. We eventually made our own way to the rooftop to watch the fireworks, without any instructions from staff. While the view was amazing, it was cold and windy, and there was no music or countdown, making the moment feel completely flat and disappointing. After midnight, the late-night party was held in the hotel reception, which felt very inappropriate. Guests were passing through with suitcases, children were still running around, and the music was kept very low, presumably because it was in the lobby. This completely ruined the atmosphere. In hindsight, we should have requested a refund. We left our own hotel nearby specifically to attend this event, yet our hotel had a far better setup and atmosphere. Unfortunately, we will not be returning and would not recommend this New Year’s party to anyone.

We loved our stay here! The hotel is really close to the city center and right next to the port which makes it a great choice especially if you’d like to make a one day trip to Porto Santo. Also, a huge pro was the breakfast. It was the only hotel I’ve been so far which have high protein options (they had protein powder, energy bars and granola). The room was really spacious and so the balcony. I appreciated a lot that they changed the towels only if you’d let them on the floor. Highly recommend!

We booked the NEXT as our home location for a first-time 2 week Madeira vacation. Firstly, the hotel does not offer free airport shuttle however, we had read about the Bolt app (basically Uber) so we used this throughout our stay. Check-in was very straight-forward. We were informed that parking was available for 11Eu/ day. We did take advantage of that later in our stay and were quite satisfied. I had requested an ocean view room, which technically it was, however the ocean was partially obstructed by the roof of the hotel (we were on the 2nd floor). The room was equipped with a king bed clean and the small kitchenette with fridge which was much used over our stay. We called maintenance on 2 occasions; the fridge was not very cold and the room thermostat did not seem to work properly. There was no feedback on what was wrong (with either). We learned on our own how to operate the thermostat however the fridge issue was not resolved. We had paid extra for the daily breakfast buffet. This turned out to be a huge disappointment for us as there was no chef to make an omelete, etc. and despite the initial appearance that the buffet is generous, there was no variety over the next 2 weeks so we supplemented with groceries from town and prepared our meal in the kitchenette. We had 2 meals at the Recharge bar which were expensive but well prepared. We are not huge drinkers however we tried the Poncha on two occasions, the first one was excellent the second one was terrible so that was that. Maid service was excellent, despite the fact they spoke neither English nor Portuguese we were able to communicate & they did a great job keeping our room stocked & clean, thank you!
