The Best Food Neighborhoods in the USA - AFAR

"I enjoy the Black-owned Nexus Brewery + Smokehouse’s smoked meats—while they made their bones with brisket and burnt ends, the catfish tacos and the Enterprise sandwich (pulled pork, brisket, and hot links topped with green chile and coleslaw) stand out." - Ashlea Halpern

I was hoping for better and what we got was okay. Will probably come back again for the pork ribs as they were pretty good but everything else was just okay as well. Main reason we came here is Google said that they had beef ribs. If you look at their menu, not the photos of the menus but the actual menu they put together themselves, it says beef ribs if you go back through some of the photos of their menus there are mentions of beef ribs. Are waiter was a bit annoying and made sure that he explained to us that not only do they not have beef ribs they have never had beef ribs since they've opened. We got the sampler of which everything was decent. The stars on it were the chicken and the pork ribs along with the sausage. The pulled pork, which I'm pretty sure is done by Machine as it was all kind of mashed together was pretty okay as well. The brisket and burnt ends were not very good, probably the lowest things on the plate, the fried pickles were good and the coleslaw was just okay. I'm not a fan of fried okra but we got it anyways and there's was actually pretty tasty. My wife does like fried okra and ate most of it up. The two barbecue sauces they have are okay but one is overly sweet.

This is where all the Coo kids come to eat. Everyone was vibing and nobody seemed uncomfortable dancing to the talented band, eating or whatever. Our waiter held down the service more then steller and we we're absolutely impressed. The Manager was one off the nicest lady's I have met and treated us with the upmost respect. Don't forget to try the membership as i got istantly more then the small one time fee i paid for it with love!!. Last but not least the food was magical and put me in a happy trance, dont forget to try the burnt beef ends with Mac & slaw. Mmmm! Catch you all again soon enough!

Came by on a Sunday afternoon after a hike for first time at this Nexxus location. I really enjoyed my meal. I got a chocolate porter which was very good although not the best dark chocolate beer in ABQ (Boxing Bear). The catfish was delicious as was the pulled pork. For sides I got collard greens and okra, both were great. They have a variety of BBQ sauces and a couple of tasty dipping sauces for your okra. Overall, very happy. Only complaint...they were playing late 70s disco fever music (Bee Gees,Boogie Wonderland) which just didn't jive with a Sunday afternoon. Otherwise ++++!

Google
Friendly service and the food came out much faster than we anticipated. The fries and fried pickles were top-notch, as was the meat. A full meal will come out to about $25 but that’s par for the course for most bbq joints nowadays. Our dining room was dimly lit, but there are brighter areas too.

Google
Went there on a Saturday evening with four adults and two kids. We were seated right away as well as the waitress was very attentive to what we may want and kept coming back making sure everything was all set and we didn't need extra drinks or anything. It seemed like everybody at the table ordered something different, so people were tasting each others meal and everybody was happy with the meals. The coleslaw was excellent as well as the mac and cheese as side dishes. My chopped brisket was a little dry but had great flavor

Google
Just tried this place for the first time, ordering takeout. The pulled pork and beef brisket were outstanding. The potato salad was subtly flavorful, not the sound of one hand clapping I usually encounter. The cole slaw lacked something, though. I opted for sweet barbecue sauce (as opposed to red chile sauce), and found it pungent and complex -- the extra kick of chile not needed. My new favorite barbecue place in town.

Google
Fantastic experience! This was our first, and certainly not our last, visit. We wanted to see if the beef burnt ends were any good. As a KC native, good burnt ends were required for the Chiefs Super Bowl menu. The evening we went was pretty busy, but the staff was handling it well and were in good spirits. Once we ordered, the food came out fairly fast. The burnt ends looked amazing and tasted incredible! We were blown away! The flavor was on point and they were so tender. The mac n cheese we had as a side was equally impressive. It was so cheesy it had a cheese pull. We also had a peach cobbler cheesecake with an in-house made scotch sauce. It wasn't overly sweet and was delicious. Highly recommend saving room for dessert.

Google
Wanted to stay pretty close to my hotel and I didn't want to have a hamburger. Always looking for a good barbecue place no matter what town I'm in. Found this was fairly close by. Turned out to be a good choice. Friendly staff and got seated quickly. Pretty good menu to choose from. I chose to have the to me plate with brisket, chicken and mac and cheese. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they took the time to take the chicken off the bone and set it on the side. Save me from having to do it at the table. The mac and cheese was very good I always liked it when a restaurant puts Panko crumbs on the Mac and cheese. Close to brisket and the chicken or flavorful. $21 for two meet plate plus a drink for a couple of dollars all came to about $25. Definitely recommend if you're in Albuquerque to give this place a try

Yelp
I was going to just say "WOW" and end review but I have to add more. I didn't take any pics but the food here is really good. I've had a lot of BBQ during my life including in the south and I have to say this is really good. I had pulled pork, burnt tri tip ends and fried okra. So so good. The seasonings and mix of ends and well cooked meat was amazing. And the sweet chili sauce is so so good. Also very cute inside, and really nice people who work here. Will definitely be back for take out.

Yelp
Hmmmm....chili cheese fries are not as expected. Nachos nasty chees on fries ain't cutting it, Chili is on point with the spice...green is better than the marinara-like red sauce. Service was great. Beer dude is fantastic on his delivery of the IPAs. Background music is 70s awesome. I got the Diablo-boneless pork ribs. Damn great fantastic As always beer is spot on... couple of IPAs. A NM gem. Can't miss.

Yelp
I've been here a few times - once for a Yelp event (got the mac n' cheese, brisket, burnt ends) and for dinner late last year. For a Sunday night around 5 pm, a lot of things on the menu were sold out (including the brisket). So, I opted for a catfish sandwich for about $14. Good flavor and portion size and came out hot, quick, and ready. Staff was friendly too 2025 #33

Yelp
Ordered baby back ribs, sliced brisket, links , potato salad and bbq beans. I got 2 ribs, a few slices of brisket and sliced links. Not a good portion in my opinion but the sides was plenty. Customer service was ok. Waitress seemed a bit distracted and wasn't fully attentive. When she was giving out each persons bill, I handed her my card at which point she responded by saying "wait, hold on". It was obvious to where the group I was with made a comment about her customer service. No tip was left unfortunately. The environment was a bit confusing..felt like decor was thrown together without any thought. I'm not a local so perhaps it was my own expectations of how a bbq place should be set up? AC was perfect as the day was 95-100 degrees that day. Would i return?? I would probably venture into another place.

Carlos L.

Yelp
Portions are very small. Burnt ends are very small. Stingy on the collard greens. The only things that are not small are the prices.

Yelp
Amazing local BBQ! And microbrewery. We had the sampler which came with 4 sides - boy they hit it out of the park! Dry rub pork ribs were amazing. The meats retained their juices, brisket, chicken qtrs, ends, and so on.
google avatar

Omar H.

Yelp
The customer service here is excellent! I highly recommend the brisket sliced rather than chopped for the best flavor and texture. The chicken was slightly overcooked, but the spicy sausage delivered a perfect kick of heat. I also tried the fried rib; while it wasn't my preference, the tenderness suggests that their regular ribs are likely fantastic.

Yelp
Simply put - great food, great beer, great service! The Enterprise sandwich was loaded, the green chile was Hot, highly recommend!

Yelp
I've been to Nexus Blue Smokehouse a few times now and, while I don't eat BBQ food as often as most people do, I do enjoy the food and the dining environment that Nexus Blue Smokehouse offers. The restaurant does have plenty of parking spot and seating for diners (although the restaurant is a little bit out of the way from many places) and at times offers a great space for performance as well (think music performances!). What I liked was...the place makes you feel more laid back and forget all about the worries that you may have during every day life. For once, you are able to sit and be focused on enjoying the food and the treat/tasty food the Nexus Blue Smokehouse has to offer. Topped with that, the staff was great, friendly and accommodating. If you are looking for a great local BBQ place in BBQ, check this place out. I actually have been to both Nexus locations in ABQ and, by far, prefer this location a lot more. Less worries about parking, more space to eat...and just...be laid back enjoying the food and the company you go dine with!

Yelp
Happy Holidays to me! Snuck away from work to grab myself the yummiest pulled pork sandwich in town from NBS! I love their red chile bbq sauce as it's not too sweet, not very smoky, but packs that red chile flavor I didn't know I needed in bbq sauce. Also love me all the collard greens and when they add in brisket to theirs, you know it's extra extra good (but also not oily). Potato salad always pairs well with pulled pork and theirs is standard on the vinegar side (IMO), and I like it! Staff is always rock solid per usual and know how to give quick service. Bbq ain't easy to keep up with. Takes a lot of TLC and patience to produce good meats. If you're in town, going to a lobo or isotopes game, or just craving some good ass bbq, stop here!!

Yelp
This place has one of our favorite. But it does lack consistency. Take for example the nachos or the cheese fries. You come early in the day they use some creamy cheese. You come in the evening and it's some shredded cheese. Sometimes the smoked meat say brisket is chopped on the fries other times shredded or slices. Many times they run out of meats. Just very inconsistent in quality and quantity.

Yelp
It was a very delicious place! It's a no frills lunch spot but I really liked their meats. My husband got the 3 meat combo platter with sausage, brisket and burnt ends. It was all cooked and seasoned well. I did a 1/2 plate of nachos and found the ground beef to be really dry and chewy. Their pico de gallo was some of the best I have ever had though so it balanced out. They pour a stiff drink and have a nice beer selection.

Yelp
The experience here was about as far up and down as I've ever had. Some things were fantastic, others horrible. The service started out top notch and then ended completely horrible as well. For food we did a bit of everything. I ordered the Pork Burnt Ends Sandwich with Mac as my side. It was amazing! Burnt ends perfectly crunchy but meaty as well. The bun was a perfect style bun for this sandwich and the regular bbq sauce was the perfect addition. I would 100% go back for the sandwich. The mac was solid as well. Not amazing but good! We also got the 3 meat plate with 3 sides. We chose Brisket, Pork Ribs, and the beef burnt ends. For the sides we chose bbq beans, Cole Slaw, and Potato Salad. The Brisket is mediocre at best. It was a bit overcooked and dry, I'd try it again but if it's still the same I'd not re-order. The ribs were very good. Tender and flavorful! The Beef Burnt Ends were truly BURNT! They were horrid. Chewy and dry, would definitely never get those again. The bbq beans and coleslaw were both good! The potato salad is the same as you buy in the produce section at a grocery store. Not great and definitely not getting that again! The service was great to start. The waiter quickly greeted us, got us water and came back for our order. We got our food and the waiter checked on us again quickly after getting it, then we didn't see our waiter again for about 45 minutes. It was so odd how great the service was to start and how bad it ended. We needed water refills to wash down the char-coaled beef, burnt to a crisp, burnt ends, but that never came. Then, when we wanted to pay and leave they were making it impossible to do so. You'd think with it getting busier and busier towards the evening rush they'd want to flip tables quick, but our waiter had zero intentions of bringing us a check or boxes, so I went to ask someone else for the check. As I was talking to another employee saying I hadn't seen my waiter in ages and wanted the check, my waiter finally decided to remember he had a table waiting and came up to us. I said oh nice to see you again, can we please get our check..He brought it and a box quickly at that point but it's a bit annoying needing refills and having to try and waive a waiter down to no avail. And don't make it impossible for me to give you my money at the end of it all! Overall, I'll be back for the pork burnt ends for sure though!

Yelp
When we went we were expecting some pretty dank BBQ, the place was pretty packed. The bartender was not attentive at all and she was right infront of us the whole time. She would disappear forver and never really seemed to check on anyone who was around the bar. The BBQ was okay but not anything that we would come back for. There was no music or TV playing while we were there which also made it kind of awkward. We also got fried pickles with our sandwiches and they were horrible, but the Mac N cheese was excellent for sure! I'm sure others have had better experiences, but ours wasn't.
google avatar

Zeke B.

Yelp
I ordered the burnt ends sandwich with fried okra. These were not burnt ends, just cubed pieces of meat. I'm not sure that it was even really barbeque. The okra was undercooked, obviously in grease that was not hot enough. Very disappointing for $17.
google avatar

Liz A.

Yelp
Once again this place does not disappoint. Delicious BBQ, had nice music and good service. This will be my BBQ place!
google avatar

Dwayne R.

Yelp
Everything was good and I'm very picky. My brisket sandwich with 2 sides was on the money. I'm a big guy and I was very satisfied with the taste, presentation and service. It's really close to the PIT and Isotopes field, so it's going to be our go-to whenever there's an event in the area or when you gotta get food that makes you go THATS WHY WE CHOSE NOT TO COOK!
google avatar

Kellye R.

Yelp
Everything was soooo good!! I didn't drink any of the brews but the food was absolutely delicious! I had the burnt ends with Mac and cheese and house salad and I was saying "mmmmm" every bite. The burnt ends were soft and tender and the Mac and Cheese was really well made and even the side salad was mixed greens and not just iceberg lettuce like in some places. The atmosphere was relaxing and quiet. (I was there mid afternoon so maybe it's rowdier later but while we were there, there was soft music playing and some quiet tvs on and it was a very relaxing). The service was great and good recommendations from our server, Diego. I loved it all and will be back very soon! Chef's kiss!!

Yelp
I never reviewed this place? What?! This is Hands down the best BBQ I've had in Albuquerque! BBQ with some solid brews? Gotta love it! Moving to New Mexico from Texas was tough because I had some phenomenal Texas BBQ. I couldn't find good BBQ to satisfy my cravings until I came to Nexus. Nexus does not disappoint. The prices are affordable for the portion sizes which I'm of course a huge fan of. If you want burnt ends you gotta go earlier in the day because they do run out. Actually...going earlier in the day is better because like any good BBQ spot they run out of their more popular items by the end of the day. My onnnly gripe is the times I have gone, sometimes the meat is cold. Specifically the brisket and pulled pork. That's pretty much it. Food tastes delicious. Beers are on point. Prices are fair. Service is excellent. I highly recommend this spot next time you have a BBQ craving. OH! Also be sure to try the catfish. If you are a catfish fan then you MUST order the catfish! Be sure to check this place out!

Juan M.

Yelp
fast, friendly service, nice ambiance. Natasha makes amazing drinks and very attentive. Great tasting, and perfectly well cooked food.

Yelp
Hands down best BBQ in A'BQ!! Service was excellent friendly staff Very impressed with cleanliness and everyone in uniform. Great job!

Yelp
Food was no Bueno, got sick meat was Grey and had a funny taste But the service was delightful, very friendly.

Yelp
I've been going to Nexus Blue for years now. This last Sunday was the best experience I've had in a couple years. The staff they have in place is fantastic. Ribs were amazing- sausage was great. If there is better BBQ in ABQ show me-

Aquinas S.

Yelp
Had the two meat combo, pulled pork, pork belly burnt ends with pinto beans. Wasn't the best BBQ experience I've had, no where near. Pork was dry with minimal flavor, burnt ends were blah, slathered with bbq sauce, all I really tasted was the sauce. I do travel a lot, Texas, Kansas City, Oklahoma etc. perhaps I'm spoiled when it comes to good BBQ. The staff was friendly enough, however we felt rushed. From the drink orders to the BBQ. Tuesday one of my coworkers was in town from Dallas. Thank goodness I took him to Nexus brewery and not here for barbecue. I've never been disappointed at Nexus Brewery.

Yelp
Good job, Nexus! Ken takes pride in his business. From the beautiful building, the modern design, the cleanliness to the food and the vibe. 10/10 I absolutely loved the outdoor area. In addition to the seating, there is grass and trees! To add, you can see the smokers that they make their meat in. I love it! As a former employee, I know firsthand that he is meticulous and will go the extra mile for his customers. Additionally, the bathrooms and kitchen are cleaned daily.
google avatar

Tochka R.

Yelp
Super tasty food; loved the serving sizes, too. Staff was very friendly and helpful, even on a day they were short staffed. The eating areas are in a couple of rooms that are connected and provide seating near or far from live music (when that happens). Located on easy to get to location in near south side, and nice private parking lot. Glad we finally went here!

Yelp
I was in town from Tucson visiting my family. I was on a brewery tour and asked my sister where we should meet up. She said that every Friday, her and her kids (all adults), meet up for dinner and that they really like Nexus Blue Smokehouse. I met up with them. When you walk in, it looks like a normal restaurant. You sit down and they have plenty of options for beer. We all ordered different beers and I even took a growler home. The beer was good. Our server was amazing. He even took an amazing family photo of us. We were in a little room off to the side, so we basically had a whole section to ourselves. There were 9 of us. We ordered platters which had a little bit of everything and included some sides. A couple of us got sandwiches. Everyone thought the food was great. Check it out

Hillary H.

Yelp
Nexus Smokehouse was the perfect space for our party - we had a group of 40, taking up their guest room and spilling out into the bar area. We brought our own band for this special family occasion and they used the stage in the bar area - wonderful space! Had a terrific time, thanks so much! The event and everyone at Nexus surpassed our expectations by a lot! Every single person involved was absolutely wonderful. The food was great, and the party was a blast.
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Ordered the pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese on the side. Pulled pork was tender and flavorful! Mac and cheese was ok, missing a flavor I can't put my finger on. The side sauces are sweet bbq and spicy red chili bbq. Both were amazing! Service was polite and attentive. Will definitely be back soon!
google avatar

Lesley M.

Yelp
I love Nexus! Both locations are our go to spots for family dinner and for date nights!
google avatar

Sage P.

Yelp
Amazing! In love with the bbq baked beans. Looking for good bbq in Albuquerque definitely come here! We will be back for sure

Sharron G.

Yelp
We were in town again this weekend and have to add one more update on them. We tried the Frito Pie, I had chicken and the hubs had beef. We BOTH love love LOVED it. So much so, that is likely what we will order next time we visit! Sadly we only went one time this weekend. I tried to go on Saturday for lunch and they were closed due to staffing shortages. I do not hold that against them at all, everyone is having staffing and/or supply issues. Just bummed we couldn't get a second Frito Pie before we left! :) Please read my previous reviews of this place, because we absolutely LOVE this place! Maybe next time we'll visit the other location!
google avatar

Beth C.

Yelp
We absolutely enjoyed our meal here before going to a NM United game on Saturday evening. It is very close to the Rio Grande field that the Isotopes and United teams share. On this occasion we ordered the 2 meat plate with burnt ends and ribs. You gotta try the burnt ends!! For the sides we chose collard greens and their smokey beans (so crave-able!) I started with the Nexus cream ale which is nice and light. Next we tried a guava cider made by Ace that was just perfect. Our group enjoyed sitting on their outdoor covered patio and the service was helpful and attentive.

Yelp
From the generous Yelp reviews and the packed parking lot, I thought this place was bound to be good. Top to bottom, however, it was dissatisfying. The prices, the portions, the food that was, as my husband said, "unburdened by flavor," and the beautifully sounding cocktails that were unburdened by actual alcohol were all just a little insulting. Details? Read on... First, selection. The menu is quite shallow, though I suppose that's par for a BBQ place. There was no option to get one meat and sides, only two or three, starting at $24. Second, price. Side portions (which are unavoidable given the unimpressive entree portions) are small for the prices (ranging from 4.50 to 12.00 each). The "quart" of coleslaw was actually half the size of the "quart" of Mac n cheese... how does this happen when a quart is a measure of volume, not of weight? The server explained "well, the pasta expands..." Er? Without the sides, a 6-bite pulled pork sandwich was $9. And my single piece of catfish and side salad was $16. But that's not so bad, for craft food, right? Third, flavor. The food was lackluster... as mentioned, unburdened by flavor. The catfish had a delicious breading, but the actual meat was slimy and just tasted wet. And the small salad looked beautiful and featured gorgeous red tomato wedges that in fact (literally) tasted like dirt. (If you don't know, the thing that makes a vegetable or fruit taste like dirt is mold. I ate mine in one bite, as did my son who commented the same, so I can't be sure. But, there was no actual dirt on it, so I'm assuming the strangely dark center was indicative of tomato-gone-bad.) The slaw had an immediate flavor that was pretty good but vanished after a moment of chewing, and the Mac n cheese was enjoyable only because any Mac n cheese inevitably possesses the inherent delight of pasta and cheese. Fourth, mocktails. The "if a Spritz and Negroni had a baby" cocktail featured not the slightest hint of gin, nor even of tonic. I only tasted about 4 oz of watered down vermouth. And the "refreshing springtime mule" cocktail was simply flavorful ginger beer, with no evidence of vodka. Four me, ambience will generally only raise, rather than lower, a review. But it's worth mentioning that although it's decorated beautifully, and there's pleasant music emanating from the lounge, the exposed ducts added an almost unsettlingly loud hum from the AC. It diminished the general vibe and intimacy of the place for me. The original Nexus had concept and delivery pretty well locked in. This sibling smokehouse is just nowhere near as good. I give one star for being a unique place to go in an otherwise under-attended part of town, and another to our lovely server and the red Chile cheese fries, which did not disappoint. But I don't think I'll feel compelled to return on the basis of those two points.
google avatar

Destiny L.

Yelp
So I really like the Nexus off of i25 but I won't lie, I think I'd choose Blue Smokehouse over that location mostly because I like the menu better here. I love a good bbq sandwich as much as I love their assortment of sides. When I arrived there was a bit of a wait but totally worth it. The staff was super friendly and we just chilled by the entry while we waited. They have a bar area that you could enjoy a drink at if you wanted to. The parking is easier at this location too. I really enjoyed the brisket sandwich and my friend got the burnt ends sandwich. It is on the pricier side but the portions are massive and definitely worth it. Again, the sides are all fantastic too. Everything from the mac and cheese to the fried pickles, go for it all. Definitely did not have room for dessert but they have some fantastic options if you have room.

Yelp
Felicia rocked the service during lunch!! Provided information on the entire menu and drink selection!!!

Yelp
My second time here this week! Yum I came back to enjoy more of my favorites and to try something new as well. For my favorites, I had to have the brisket, fried okra, and collard greens. For trying something new I had the smoked chicken and the baked biscuit bread pudding with a scoop of ice cream. The desert was so tasty! It was warm with a drizzle of some more sweetness and some almond slivers, it was so satisfying. This would even be a great spot just to meet up for desert! You can order this baked or fried, maybe I'll try it fried next time. They also have a great selection of local craft beers. Tonight a local band by the name of Groove Tyme played and really filled the establishment with great musical vibes and lots of folks on the dance floor! It's a great spot to go to to run into so many familiar faces and meet some new friends too. This is a fabulous local restaurant not just for their food but also great hospitality and ambiance.

Yelp
Food is great, and the service is not. The host was so welcoming we thought we were going to get a win tonight. However, two waitresses had an argument over who had to take our table, 10 feet away from us. Finally, one came over to take our order, and she started off by blaming the host for not telling her we were waiting. We heard him tell her on the walkie that she had a table. She was a lackluster waitress, and it soured our impression of the restaurant. The women's restroom was out of soap, and the dispensers were broken. But they had a workaround. Yuck! I think we will skip this place in the future.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. Not too many places in ABQ to get bbq and other southern treats. Try the Mac and cheese with bacon and green chile!
google avatar

Jacqueline H.

Yelp
I had a terrible experience here. The food was not good, the fried fish was soggy and and not seasoned at all. The service left a lot to be desired. The waitress did not pay attention to any requests, and when called out still did not provide the sauce requested or apologize for lack of service. They were rushing us to get out of there even though the restaurant was not busy. Additionally, when we first sat down, we had to ask someone to clean the table as a sticky residue had been left everywhere. They then waited around to see whether we left a tip after bringing the check back. Will not be returning to this place.
google avatar

Matthew H.

Yelp
Nexus blue was delightful! The location is conveniently located off the highway and the restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere! Service was quick, and food was very good! I used to live in the south and have a high standard for barbecue! I settled on a three meet platter with brisket, pulled pork, and a last minute Decision of the smoked sausage links (so glad I committed). My two sides consisted of fried okra and Mac and cheese. Two of my favorite sides that sent me back to the Deep South! Everything was phenomenal. The only critique I have is on the pulled pork. It seemed to be lacking a rich Smokey flavor, smoke rings, and a rich dark brown crust. I am Not sure why this was the case but over all the brisket and sausage were delightful! I would recommend passing on the pulled pork and opt in on the brisket burnt ends. I didn't order them but I saw them on the table next to me and I was oh so jealous! Will be heading back and I hope to hear some live music!

Yelp
I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with potato salad. The pulled pork was made perfect. The meat was so tender. The bun was soft which was a plus I didn't feel like I was eating a bread sandwich. There was so much meat in there. We had fried pickles for an appetizer which were some of the best I've had. The waitress Felisha was very attentive and made our experience even better. I will definitely come back.

Yelp
"Three-meat combo" is the perfect "side" to a great beer. These folks have definitely figured out the recipe for perfection . . . if you are carnivore. Sides were good too, but the meat was divine. Tender, moist and with superb flavor. Melt in your mouth. Stick to your ribs. Oh, and yes, the beer was good . . . I had a chocolate porter. Dark, luscious desert beer. Nexus Blue Smokehouse is on the top of my list for BBQ in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Top! Prove me wrong!

Yelp
First of all, I went to a late lunch on Cinco de Mayo, and was pleasantly surprised by how attentive friendly and helpful to staff still was after a busy shift! The food was Really Great, with cool options for appetizers and small portions, and the facility was super clean! Not the norm for BBQ joints. Lastly and perhaps as important as all the above put together, the CRAFT (really craft, not craft looking commercial) Beer selection is Unfu#@kingly Awesome!

Yelp
This is the best bbq in Albuquerque. Hands down. The burnt ends are the primary reason I can't go vegetarian. Meat candy. Real fried okra. Adore the catfish tacos & the fish & chips & the 1/3 chicken: get spicy for both if you're New Mexican! They are always friendly & generous. Go for the red chile bbq sauce for whatever you get. The brisket, the beer batter fries, the pulled pork, really ANY side (you could make a meal of just sides and be so satisfied). Oh yeah. And beer. Really good beer. We love that they have been able to expand this space, a full bar, music. The only sadness is parking, so get there early!

Yelp
I had a problem with an order here but the management did more than make it right. This is one of the best bbq places in ABQ. I highly suggest the pulled pork. All the sides are great too.

Yelp
Our first visit to Nexus Blue Smokehouse was outstanding! Merrilou and I had a great time there this evening. The food was great, the service was great and the atmosphere was very casual and comfortable. We will definitely be back! It's good to see places like this in the old neighborhood. I lived a few blocks north of the restaurant when I was a kid and it was good to see a local family give back to the 'hood.

Yelp
All of the food was amazing. The ribs are fall off the bone. They have a red chili barbecue sauce that is absolutely amazing. I wanted to buy a jar to take home. They do not have this available at this time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The general manager was telling me. This location serves barbecue and the other location serves new orleans style food. As good as the food is at this location. My son and I will definitely try the other location for the new orleans style food.

Yelp
So while looking for places to eat on door dash we happened upon Nexus smokehouse. My boyfriend and I decided to DoorDash this place for the first time. We ordered the brisket, burnt ends and fried ribs with sides of Mac and cheese and sweet barbecue baked beans. It was really good! Hands down the burnt ends was by far both of our favorite! I would go back for that alone. We also ordered the biscuit bread pudding and that was very unique! They have red chili bbq sauce and a sweet spicy BBQ sauce that we got with our order. In my opinion sweet and spicy bbq was so good! Next time we will definitely try to dine in at this place! Ps would've had pics but we were famished by the time the food came, so we ate it so fast lol
