This is my most favorite part of our trip. It helped a kot that we bought our tickets in advanced. The cable car experience was amazing, at first I thought it will be scary but you'll forgett your fear once you see the view up there. The village was also beautiful and gives this relaxing feeling. I really plan to go back.

Google
This was a long nice scenic cable car ride to the Big Buddha. We bought the return ticket - crystal - less waiting time and more fun - as u can see the scenery below through the glass floor. If you are thinking of coming from the airport, the station is only 10 mins drive with Taxi. The airport has luggage storage shop so u can leave your luggage and enjoy the trip to the Big Buddha. Overall we had a great experience and this is one of the highlights of our trip.

Google
Only go for it if you like climbing steps, but worthit to smell.pristine and fresh air. The cable car ride was pretty smooth, albeit it is 25 mins but some breath taking views form people to take in

Nice Dec weather. Majestic and breathtaking Buddha statue. Definitely worth the visit. Do check out the simple yet affordable vegetarian food at the Po Lin Monastery just opposite the Buddha. Wonderful cable car ride. Do expect long queues to board during peak hours (mid morning & late afternoon). Wisdom path is still closed for renovation works as of 6 Dec 2025. Do check again if you plan to visit.

Visiting Ngong Ping 360 is truly an unforgettable experience! The highlight is, of course, the cable car ride a smooth, scenic journey that takes you over lush mountains, sparkling waters, and quaint villages. The 360° views from the Crystal Cabin are breathtaking, giving a real sense of Hong Kong’s natural beauty and the serenity of Lantau Island. Once you arrive, Ngong Ping Village is charming and well-organized, filled with shops, cafes, and cultural attractions. The peaceful atmosphere complements the majestic Tian Tan Buddha (Big Buddha), which is awe-inspiring and offers a moment of reflection. The Po Lin Monastery nearby adds to the spiritual and cultural richness of the visit. Accessibility is easy with well-marked paths, clean facilities, and helpful staff. It’s perfect for families, solo travelers, and photography enthusiasts alike. Whether you’re there for the scenic cable car ride, the iconic Buddha, or just a relaxing day in a cultural setting, Ngong Ping 360 offers a full experience worth every moment. Overall:Stunning views, cultural immersion, and a touch of adventure highly recommended for anyone visiting Hong Kong!

Google
Heads-up that when the ticket seller puts the price page down you can turn it over to see the cheaper tickets. It was a nice way to get to the Buddha but the touristy nature of the experience is next level cash grab. Complete with photos that you can buy for way too much money preprinted and waiting for you when you get off...in BOTH directions. 😂 When you get off, walk through the corporate tourism shops past the gate to find locals selling delicious Street food and other things. No wait to go up but almost an hour to get back down.

Google
If your first in Hong Kong, this cable car ride is 100% worth it. We went with the glass-bottom cabins, and wow, so worth it! The views below are absolutely incredible, from the harbor wate below to the mountains, forests, and everything in between. Just a tip: skip the themed cabins. They plaster cartoon stickers all over the sides, which really blocks the amazing scenery. This was the longest cable car ride I’ve ever been on, but honestly, it flew by because it’s so amazing. Once you reach the Buddha and, if you choose, make the optional trip to Tai O village, the whole round-trip experience is just unforgettable. Truly one of the highlights of the trip.

Google
spectacular cable car experience with unforgettable views! Ngong Ping 360 is one of the most scenic and enjoyable attractions in Hong Kong. The cable car ride offers breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains, Lantau Island, the South China Sea, and even the airport. The journey is smooth, relaxing, and feels like a truly special experience — especially in the crystal cabin with the glass floor. At the top, Ngong Ping Village is charming, peaceful, and beautifully designed, making it a perfect gateway to visit the Tian Tan Buddha and Po Lin Monastery. The entire experience is well-organized, family-friendly, and incredibly photogenic. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Hong Kong — a must-do experience for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone looking for a memorable day out!

Yelp
Ngong Ping 360 / Lantau Island (Hong Kong) -- One of the reasons I had not visited the Big Buddha before was that I kept thinking it was quite a schlep from Central Hong Kong. I figured there were mules and sherpas involved, but since 2005, this aerial cable car has made life a lot easier for lazy tourists like me who are disinterested in traipsing mountain trails like I was a Von Trapp. With that in mind, Jamie W and I prepaid US$42.75 for round-trip tickets on a Crystal Cabin. You're probably asking yourself what a Crystal Cabin is. Well, it's a gondola where you can see through the floor (photo: https://yelp.to/4OYIER4Z4Y). Basically the bottom views consist of trees and water and little else. With views of the Big Buddha in the distance, the one-way trip lasts about 25 minutes but not before 45 minutes in a snaking queue. Oh yes, it's popular. We were first in a gondola with a family of five where the toddlers constantly questioned our presence while their indifferent parents were on their phones. I even volunteered to take a family portrait only to be told to mind my own business. On the way back, we were sharing the gondola with two gay couples who fancied themselves as thirst-generating male models. They wanted multiple photos. It was a small price for us to pay for the convenience of this service. RELATED - Exploring Hong Kong? Here's my collection of places I've visited and reviewed: https://bit.ly/3AGgadg

Yelp
My husband said this was one of the highlights of our Hong Kong trip, and I have to agree--if you're in Hong Kong, especially on Lantau Island, this is a must-do to see the big Buddha at the top. I was mentally preparing for long lines after reading reviews and seeing photos - but our secret weapon? Arriving a couple of hours before the last cable car comes down at 6 PM. No crowds, just us and the views! A round-trip ticket costs around HK$270, and honestly, why would anyone buy a one-way ticket unless you're planning to hike down? We saw people tackling that trail up, it looked like a never-ending stairmaster. My husband claims he did that hike growing up, and it took six hours. Six. Hours. Yeah, that's a hard pass for me. Give me the 25-minute cable car ride with panoramic views any day! If I had to recommend the perfect time to come down from the mountain I'd say go for 6pm at sunset. Watching the sun dip below the mountains and reflect off the ocean? Absolute magic. The cable cars are surprisingly roomy, fitting about 8 people, but because we showed up just before closing, it was practically empty. The cars are well-ventilated too, so you won't feel like you're roasting in there. The ride itself was super smooth, and everyone at customer service was incredibly helpful and spoke English. All in all, it was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation--without the sweat of hiking for hours!

Yelp
What an amazing experience!!! A 25 minute ride over water, lush green hills, past waterfalls, into the mountain to come out the other side seeing the Big Buddha and temple come into view. Then you are dropped off into a village to walk thru and explore this hidden gem in the mountains.

Yelp
One of my favorite experiences in Hong Kong, the 360 view is incomparable. I would recommend to opt for the crystal cabin either on the way up or down. This time I got it on the way up for photo ops and the clear glass floor. Pro tip: check the weather before booking! Sometimes the fog hides the views. Each cabin fits 6-8 people and they always have fun partnerships, right now is with Disneyland for their 20th anniversary!

Yelp
I purchased tickets through Klook, which saved us the hassle of waiting in line at the ticket counter--probably saved about 20 minutes. Even with that, it still took around 20-25 minutes before we were able to board. The ride itself lasted about 20 minutes, offering great views and a very relaxing experience. I don't feel the need to do this again if/when I visit Hong Kong again.

Yelp
Wow! What a view! Book a crystal clear cable car with Ngong Ping 360 for an amazing ride to or from Po Lin Monastery and the Tian Tan Buddha. We took a trip to explore Lantau Island on our last day in Asia with This Is Asia tours. Our guide, Liz, recommended that we take the crystal cable car down the mountain and it was the perfect way to end our day before heading to the airport. Loved the views! So much fun to really feel like you are flying suspended midair. Take photos looking through the glass floor. Amazing! Before the cable car was open, the only access to the monastery and Buddha was via bus or limited car service. Only residents have a permit to be able to drive to the temple. The drive from the cable car station to the airport is just 10 minutes. So lucky to be able to get off the cable car and then hop into our minivan from This Is Asia Tours to be shuttled to the Hong Kong Airport. Bonus: No line to buy same day tickets from the Ngong Ping Village and no lines for the cable car going down midday. The lines heading up around 1 PM were over an hour!

Yelp
If you've never taken the cable car before, I'd say go try it. The ride is about half an hour. If you buy the cable car tickets on Klook, you get to board in under 10 minutes of arriving versus having to join the long queue. The crystal cable car is glass all around, which makes the ride a little more exciting. If it's windy that day, you'll feel the impact, but I guess it's still safe since I'm here typing. You can buy a one-way ticket or roundtrip. I just got the one-way ticket since taking the bus is cheaper. The cable car can fit a good amount of people, so the more people you have, the less likely you'll have to share the car with strangers. I liked the views: the ocean, the bridge that connects Hk to Macau, the big Buddha, hiking trails, and greenery.

Yelp
A cable car to the big buddha that provides a full aerial view of the way up, hence the 360 part of its name. The view is excellent and ride is fairly smooth, but there isn't much to it other than to take a few pictures and look around. There's an option for a crystal bottom, but honestly, it's more for the spectacle because there isn't much to see under your feet. The cable car mostly travels over water and trees, so I wouldn't say it's necessarily worth the cost, even if it's only a few bucks more. There are hawkers selling cheaper tickets at the escalator base to the terminal, but we didn't trust them and just bought our tickets from the booth up the escalators. The ride itself is about 20 minutes and the lines go by fairly quickly. Up to 10 people per cable car, but 6-8 people is more comfortable. About 300 HK dollars for a round trip ride.

Yelp
Spectacular views, smooth ride, reasonable round-trip prices, efficient ticket pickup process when you book in advance. I also like how they try their best not to pack you in with people you don't know. They take and sell you a group photo, but not pushy if you decline. Underrated benefit: saves you an hour each way getting to and from Lantau versus the bus, so you have more time to sightsee.

Yelp
My 3rd trip in 15 years & almost forgot how much fun it was. Even for Friday 10:30 am the line for ticket office & gondola ride was already substantial. Pro tip,

Yelp
Fun cable car ride to see the Tian Tan Buddha. Ideally you would buy tickets in advance online from the cable car website or else you will be waiting a long time in line. There are 2 options, the regular cable car, or the one with the clear bottom which costs more. The ride itself is about 20 minutes to the top then you can walk to see the Buddha. There is also a temple and a restaurant that sells food. Ngong Ping "village" is just a collection of stores to sell you touristy items but you can browse either on your way up to the Buddha or on your way back. It's a nice day trip from Hong Kong and the Buddha is huge.

Yelp
Although this cable car ride to Lantau Island is a touristy thing to do, it is worth checking out at least once. Don't be a cheapskate and spring for the extra dollars to upgrade your ticket for the glass bottomed cable car. The height of this ride over open water and thick canopied forest is completely worth it. I appreciated that before you enter the car at the boarding station, someone is wiping down all the glass surfaces so your view in all directions is crystal clear and unobstructed including your view straight down! Beware that if you are really squeamish about heights, this may not be the best activity for you. But it is a great way to see a different view of Hong Kong. First, it is a bit of a distance to get here. Take the Tung Chung (Orange) MTR subway line and enjoy the ride way out to the end stop. I would have never had reason to take this line that far out so it is good way to see some other parts of Hong Kong. Follow the signs to buy a ticket and board the cable car. Each way, the ride is about 20 minutes and it is really pleasant even on a hot day without air conditioning. The views of the open water, the airport and the forest are pretty stunning and because you are so high up, there is cooler air and typically a breeze keeping you comfortable. Once at the top, it is a short walk through a very touristy shop area to visit The Big Buddha. On the way, check out the statues of the 12 Divine Generals that guard the Buddha. Each represent an animal of the Chinese zodiac. You can also be distracted by the many tourist venues along the way. I find this somewhat distracting since in the middle of the forest of Lantau Island while going to check out a holy Buddha, a Starbucks appears in front me out of nowhere! The commercialization of the world is diabolical! After the shock of the commercial venues, buy your snow globe and double iced frap whipped skinny vanilla kissed mochachino and walk to see the Buddha. Pay your respects, learn about the Buddhist movement, and head back down for the fun cable car ride to the MTR station. You can easily blow most of your day doing this but it is worth it to see once, especially if you are not going to get to this area of the world again.

Yelp
Okay, this is undoubtedly the best way to get to Hong Kong's Tian Tan Buddha. This being said, expect a long-long wait. I do not believe there is any way around it. There's a few things you should know before you actually plan your trip to take the Ngong Ping 360. First of all, do not believe the statements that buying your tickets in advance is not necessary. By not buying your tickets in advance, you are forced to wait in an additional line. But, be warned, you really need to buy your tickets from a reliable source. I have been in line waiting and people have bought tickets from unscrupulous ticket sellers and they did not work. Thus, if they wanted to travel on the sky buckets, they had to pay an additional fee. Once in Hong Kong you can get reliable tickets from your hotel concierge and places like that. But, even with pre-bought tickets expect to wait. The average is about an hour. Mostly, this place and the people that run it are extremely disorganized. I believe that they could put a much better system in place to get people on the sky buckets faster. But, currently, that is not what's happening, so expect a wait A few other things to note, they will stuff as many people into the sky buckets as possible. So, if you are expecting a solo trip, at least on the way up, forget about it. If you have a large family, that may fill the sky bucket. But, I have seen them stuff solo passengers into a completely full sky bucket and expect them to stand the entire way. The other thing to note is that you should really travel in one of the sky buckets with a glass bottom. Though it costs a little bit more, this enhances your overall journey as you can see many of the sites below that you would not see if you had a solid bottom sky bucket. On the return trip, because so few people are traveling back to base camp until the late afternoon, you may be able to ride with just your travel companion and/or perhaps one other passenger. But, it is doubtful that you'll ever be able to have a solo trip. Overall, this is the best way to see the Buddha. Though it is not perfect, have fun with it and you should have a nice journey.

Yelp
The lines are LONG! I highly recommend purchasing your tickets on their website prior to going there. Regardless of what is stated online, that line was much shorter and took less time than the line I was in, with no tickets. I upgraded to the crystal cabin. These cabins have the glass floors so you can capture the view from below your feet. I noticed the floors are scratched so you don't get a pristinely clear view, and the view wasn't really that magnificent - down below. They take a picture of you and/or your group sitting in the cabin, so they can sell you a souvenir picture once you arrive at your destination, both there and on the way back. The price is a little hefty for a mere snapshot, with nothing worthwhile in the background. In summary, this is most likely better than a bus ride to the Big Buddha. I don't regret the experience of the ride itself. It's worth doing once.

Yelp
The Ngong Ping 360 experience is something that a lot of people will recommend for visitors to HK. You get to partake in a gondola ride through the mountains towards the NP Village and the giant outdoor Buddha and potentially conquer your fear of heights. Definitely recommend to try at least once. However, after having done the cable car ride three times in the last decade, I can simply say that I've had enough and don't plan on riding it any longer. The queues are outrageous and mimic the newest Disneyland ride and I much rather have spent it exploring other parts of HK. This most recent time, the queue to even purchase a ticket lasted for three hours for our 15-minute ride. Honestly, the $210 ride was not worth it in the end. The entire area is very touristy but if you must do it once, then do so and let that be your one and only time. You don't get a private gondola to yourself and you are often left wondering why you decided to go on this ride in the first place. However, the crystal cabin may be worth it to cut the queue just a bit and experience scenes of the floor of your car.

Yelp
My best advice......unless you're an adventure traveler & prefer near-death experiences, do NOT take the cable car during monsoon conditions Cars were swinging & swaying & at one point, they totally stopped the cables so we were there in the gale force winds fearing for our lives The girls in the car with us were screaming but we made it up the hill only to find that were were stuck taking the cable car back down the hill.....Uber does not go to the temple entrance, only tour buses. So we waited out the weather then made a mad dash to get on the car & get back down Gift shops outside the temple profit the cable car company & prices are outrageous. We paid $40 for a T-shirt. But it was vacation & we were tourists If you want your purchase profits to go towards the monks, make your purchases inside the temple entrance
google avatar

Yelp
This is where you catch a gondola to the Buddha. Admittedly, my experience was a far cry from what 99% of visitors experience. I was able to bypass the HUGE line (probably 200 people) and use the VIP express line. I'm not sure if you can pay extra to go VIP (my ride was free because my uncle works here), but if you can, it's worth it. Make sure you get one of the glass bottom gondolas for the best experience and enjoy the 20-minute ride.
google avatar

Chelle K.

Yelp
Like many of the previous reviews: Longest. Line. Ever. Please, do yourself a favor and buy tickets in advance. Learn from our mistakes. But with that said, once you do finally crawl your way through a seemingly endless line, and make it into a gondola car swaying gently above the mountains, it is absolutely worth the trip. Lovely day trip to see the Buddha and eat some delicious bites. But again, don't forget - buy tickets in advance. Seriously.

Yelp
This is a must see when you visit Hong Kong or if you're a local. Best to get a ticket for the crystal car. Yes it is a bit more pricier but it's worth it. You get better views of the tram ride, and you have your own separate line. The regular tram car's line will sometimes set you back 30 - 40 minutes! That is precious time you can be sight seeing and exploring when you are on a vacation trip. The Big Buddha is a must see and you will see wild local cows roaming around the base of the Buddha. There are a few shops and a few food shops, but I would grab a meal before or after you come here.

Yelp
Review #37 This is an absolute must when heading to see the big Buddha. I understand it is only open certain times a year so check the schedule before hand. There are also times when it is closed for scheduled maintenance so just doublecheck. I took a train from HK central and it dropped me off directly at the cable car. Just follow the signs or ask someone when you get out of train. It is around the corner to where the train lets off. Not the shopping mall direction. I bought my tickets in advanced online and it allowed me to choose the time I wanted. I went first thing in the morning and was first in line. I was put in the Crystal enclosure with three other people. The views were breathtaking and it was not as scary as I thought. The attendant mentioned it would be cool inside the cable car however it was still a bit warm (July). There are windows at the top that you can open. The cable car lets you off in a shopping area before you get to the Buddha. Just follow the road and signs....or the people. My ride on the way back was not in the crystal cable car, as my ticket was for one ride in the Crystal cable car and the regular one on the way back. It was still an awesome experience!!! Because I went first thing in the morning I was early heading back. Therefore I was able to take the cable car alone which was AWESOME! My suggestion is buy your tickets in advance to beat the crowds. This was definitely an experience I will never forget.

Yelp
My friends and I spent an entire day exploring the area around Big Buddha and small village of shops between the end of the sky tram and the Big Buddha. The beginning of the cable cars was easily accessible from the Tung Chung MTR station. We arrived at the ticket booths around 9:30am on a Saturday in early November and were pleased to find that the lines were not nearly bad as we were expecting. Probably only took about 5 minutes. Besides the tickets for the cable car they also offer packages that included guided tours of different areas and activities on Lantau Island. There are two types of cars: one with a solid bottom and one with a transparent bottom that is slightly more expensive. There is also a ticket option to ride in one type of car on the way up and the other on the way down. We opted for the solid bottom car in both directions and were still wowed by the views. One way takes about 20 minutes. We spotted some people below hiking up to the Buddha. I can't imagine how long that would take. The queue for the return trip on the sky tram was much longer since it seemed that everyone decided to head back at the same time. Probably waited about 30 minutes or more.

Yelp
(Rode 01/05/19 SA @ 1:00pm): The most scenic - 360° - way to get to and see Lantau Island! Who knew my friend and I would travel on TWO separate cable car attractions - in this case the Ngong Ping 360 - while on a three-week vacation throughout Southeast Asia!? We had a long layover in Hong Kong and wanted to experience some of the landmarks on Lantau Island which was relatively close to the airport with the aid of some additional trasnportation. Once we sorted out the logistic details, finally made our way to the terminal, and took the roundtrip ride, would it be something we'd want to do again when back in Hong Kong!? PURCHASE Roundtrip Standard Cable Car Ride (235.00 HKD/30.00 USD x2): Another option was the Crystal Cable Car which offered a clear bottom floor that basically allowed you see everything. With a maximum seating for 8 comfortably https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=chvaaVmFSPqDf8vCTty_1g&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw, this approximately 20-minute journey each way offered you the "ooohs and aaahs" of exceptional views with ample opportunities for breathtaking pictures as you seemingly climbed through a range of climates before you settled down onto the island. Sadly, the weather wasn't cooperating with us as the cloud layers were thick and deep at times as we elevated to the top, but it was an enjoyable ride nonetheless. SERVICE Every review I read strongly recommended that you pre-purchased tickets online before you arrived. But to our pleasant surprise, as horrible as the queue lines looked https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=mrhSOMtQD9wGAjFVk-4YVA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw, we actually made it in barely 30 minutes from the time we first got in line, to the ticket window, and ultimately into a cable car! Throughout the entire time, staff members directed wayward people as they constantly shouted out about the lack of visibility along the ride https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=qISXIkNsFgShtpeQ8aVZhQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw and at the top so people "shouldn't" be surprised, the young male at the ticket window was very friendly and got us in-and-out in minutes, and finally at boarding we were coraled in an orderly manner - except for the effing family of 13 who held-up the line until the staff basically ushered them along - into awaiting cable cars. Outstanding job by everyone! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance) The two main modes of transportation to Lantau Island was either the cable cars or buses. I honestly couldn't recall any cars but saw parking lots where numerous buses parked, so I imagined there was parking for smaller vehicles, too. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Ummm...you were in an enclosed cable car with four viewable sides (five if you reserved the crystal car) with two benches that seated four each. As for the facility itself, there was a long staircase to the base where then the lines cutbacked and switchbacked both to the ticket counter and loading dock. Here were some views https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=0szU8R_4-BPno7F-8ynhEg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw you might see solely dependent on the weather https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=inma2sCsSL4jH1VfZhvHTQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL It was cool to take the more scenic route https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=xgvyVszjJJdgS5olltENZA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw to the top of Lantau Island by way of the Ngong Ping 360 and would consider it again. However, unless I were traveling with someone who hadn't been to Tian Tan Buddha and Po Lin Monastery which were the main landmark attractions where the cable cars let you out, I would probably find an alternative mode of transportation to get to the island (Hong Kong Disneyland was also on the island). Although I initially felt it was somewhat pricey, I later was fine with it as long as it went to maintenance and for the exceptional staff. I found exceptionally good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around 470.00 HKD/60.00 USD BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 4.5 STARS

Take the bus if you're feeling frugal, but this ride is a breathtaking view and impressively long. You can see the the airport and so much of these gorgeous mountains. Pay extra for the crystal cable car if you wish. It's not necessary but seeing the mountain and ocean under your feet does add the extra thrill. Know that the temperature will drop at the top, and the fog is rather present. Bring a jacket, a waterproof one if you can. This is NOT the cheapest route to the Tian Tan Buddha, but it's beautiful and totally worth it.

Yelp
Ngong Ping 360 is one of the many attractions that you must visit. You start by taking the cable car up to the highest point. Then after you get off the cable car, you walk through the village to either the Po Ling Monastery or the Big Buddha. If you have not done either one, I highly recommend visiting it. By the way, there are plenty of shops and restaurants in the village. There is even a Starbucks located. It is a must see, especially if you have never visited it before.

Yelp
If one visits HK, Ngong Ping 360 IS A MUST! Luckily my guy did the research & we upgraded both rides to the Crystal Cabin which I *highly recommend*. Definetly worth the upgrade. I also highly highly suggest to purchase the tickets online instead of going in person. We went on a Saturday & the line was long!! If you purchase your ticket in advance & with the upgrade to the crystal cabin you skip the line. This was definetly the highlight of my trip!

Yelp
I'm visiting from Canada and wanted to see the historical landmarks of Big Buddha and the Hall of Great Hero / Grand Hall of Ten Thousand Buddhas. To get here, I took the Ngong Ping 360 cable car up; it's a breathtaking view too. It's amazing and serene (if you can zone out the tourists around you)! These sites and the car ride is definitely worth the price of admission.

Yelp
What a fabulous day we had on Lantau Island! The ONLY negative I can give was the vague admission line that took 1 1/2 hrs. There is some info while you're in line. But when you get to the window there is no reference to tell them which package/tour you want. After the 30 min crossing on the aerial tram(AWESOME) we did the Heritage/Cultural tour that included a blooming tea demo, tour guide whole spoke English and Mandarin, snack coupons that hit us a donut and almond cookies(with a few more dollars), a bus ride to Tai O fishing village, tour of stilt house, lots of info from Luna our guide, bus to monastery and big Buddha. The huge perk was a fast pass to return on the aerial tram and avoid that 2 hr line! Our day was 11:30am- to about 5:00pm. DO IT!

Yelp
Fantastic way to explore Hong Kong's lovely countryside. The cable car is a nice long ride with views you can see only from a cable car. I recommend this excursion for a date or for a fun time with friends or for something special to do with family. It is a rare opportunity to connect with whom ever while enjoying Hong Kong's splendor. Mark My Words: BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE!!!!!! This place is popular and well known for a long wait to see Buddha. Seriously, the lines are terribly loooooooong. It takes hours to get in if you do not already have tickets. It is worth it to pay for as many upgrades and line skipping that you can afford to avoid standing in line. Crystal cable car in both directions is worth it. To look out the glass bottom of the cable car made it a cooler experience. The private cable car is a great option too especially if you have people to spread the cost or be a baller and make it special for a date. The rides are pleasant with view of the airport and countryside. The cable cars are a good way to sight see 360 degree views of Hong Kong. You also got a view of the bridge/tunnel to Macau. Physically fit people hiked a path to the Buddha. I do not recommend this to everyone. The path is super long and hilly. The mega Buddha is an incredible sight to see from the cable car and up close in person.

Yelp
So Ngong Ping 360 is the only option to get to Lantau Island and see the Big Buddha if you are seeking the "cable car" option. Tour bus or even hiking it (looks kind of long and brutal in the summer sun from the perspective of sitting in the glass bottom cable car). I have been out to Lantau Island a couple times, because it is kind of a great spot to take visitors. It is scenic, gets you out of the chaos of busy Hong Kong, you can do some outlet shopping in Tung Chung as you are out there anyway and you get to see the world's largest, outdoor, seated Buddha. 1) Buy your tickets in advance (go to a 7-11 or a discount web site). Depending on the day and time, it might not save you a ton of time in line, but it will save you time compared to all the other people who did not buy tickets in advance. 2) When you arrive, you either que up in the line of people who bought tickets in advance or in the line of people who did not buy tickets in advance. Even if you bought tickets in advance (via any outlet), your confirmation page of that purchase needs to be exchanged at the box office for physical tickets when you arrive, so you will still have to wait in a line (it is just that that line might be shorter). Upon asking the box office this time, at 7-11 or any place else in HK, you can buy your tickets in advance, but only when you get there can you get your physical tickets. MAKE NOTE: No place in HK is going to issue you the physical ticket and thus no way to avoid the line. 3) The line can be a touch brutal. Hot, no moving air, slow moving, etc. Just know this and be prepared with a cool drink and a positive attitude! Hope you get lucky with little to no line, go during off times and/or midweek. 4) Unless you are in fear of heights, seeing that you might only do this once in your life, pay the money for the glass bottom cable car. It is open, airy and cool. Cool to see the water and woods out the bottom, not cool in temp...there is no actually A/C in the cable car itself, but there is ventilation. HINT: On a hot day, if you can, on the way out to Lantau Island, be sure to sit on the bench facing backwards versus sitting forwards...you feel more of the rush of air entering the cable car from your lower backside because you are at the front of the car. Same goes for the return trip! 4) Avoid peak times at all costs. If you find yourself wanting to kind of move quickly on your time out to Lantau, go about an hour or two before they close. I could easily see as we were on the cable car back to Tung Chung to head back to Hong Kong, we could see vast amounts of cable cars headed up to Lantau Island. I am sure those folks had no wait time at all.

Yelp
You know there are always those "tourist traps" you must avoid, but deep down inside, you want to take a part of and not tell anyone. I believed Ngong Ping 360 was one of those, as many of us have taken cable car attractions, so I figured it was just another one of "those" experiences. I eventually caved and purchased a semi affordable ticket to the famous big buddha and monastery. Getting to the base of Ngong Ping 360 is quite simple from HK, easy metro ride from any major station. Be prepared for a lengthy train ride though if you are coming from downtown HK, as it will stop many times along the way. Are there alternatives to the metro, of course, but the buses and taxis have to deal with traffic, so there is no real win win situation here. Fast forward to the boarding process, its quick and painless once you get the ticket portion dealt with (Take a peak at Klook.com). This is where the five stars come into play as the views are spectacular! I honestly wish the ride would of lasted longer, so I could snap some more beautiful shots, even though it was a bit hazy the day I rode the cable car. No need to worry about a bad seat as you are given a nice 360 degree view from any seat. The company offers a see through floor cable car, but you have to wait longer and pay more for it, not worth it in my opinion. Simple drop off in the small village of Ngong Ping with chotchkies and snacks before taking the trek up the hill. A must visit while in HK if you are seeking a day trip.

Yelp
Ngong Ping is the quickest and easiest way to get to the Tian Tan Buddha. Bus would take over 2 hours. The cable car ride takes roughly 30 minutes one way. They have different Cable Cars options, I took the standard one. The glass bottom would have made me yack. The ride was pretty smooth, not much rocking. Very peaceful to just stare out at the green mountains. There was a few waterfalls also. We got here at 9 am when they opened and there was not much of a line to pay or board. The queue to get on can be long as the day goes on. They only load 6 people per car. They do not allow luggage so you need to check it in on the bottom floor under the escalators. Look for a small luggage podium. Standard Round Trip - 185 HKD Luggage Storage - 80 HKD, per piece

Yelp
The views from the cable car were gorgeous, even in the normal car, and for that alone I would say this is worth it. Beautiful, lush green mountains, blue seas... even though it was overcast, the view was great. The car does let some air in from outside, so we were a little cold. We had prepurchased our tickets online so we got through the line a little more quickly, but it still took us nearly an hour.

Yelp
It's one of those things that you have to do while you're here. I didn't realize it was a 'thing' until a few people came by talking about the cable car. I didn't know why it was so special and since when I first arrived it was closed for six months for maintenance I figured why bother? It's just a cable car, right? What's the big deal? Fast forward and for some reason it became something to do. We bought discount tickets beforehand but the line just to get to the ticket line is long-basically it starts where the bus stops are. While it is long, it does move fairly quickly (lots of large groups.) Once we got to the area itself we got to the express line pretty quickly and the line probably went down to about a fifth of the previous line, there's still wait but it's not so bad and at that point it's divided by regular and glass bottomed car. I'm not super keen on heights so the regular car was enough. They make you take pictures right before you depart and the old British couple made funny faces as a form of resistance. We went on a nice, sunny day so the ride was pretty smooth and I appreciate the narration and the map. We got the round trip tickets and the line down isn't as long as the ride up, but a little more nerve wracking, not that the ride is any different you just want to be sure you can make it before they close. If you do some searching beforehand, find some cheaper tickets it's really not that bad and if you're here it's kind of a 'must.'

Yelp
Cable car access to Po Lin Monastery (aka Big Buddha) from MTR to Ngong Ping 360 is a panorama view of HK island. Ngong Ping Village is certainly a tourist trap but worth a visit. I like gazing the Tian Tan Buddha statue as ponder how one can achieve enlightenment.
google avatar

Yelp
There are signs that make it easy to get from the MTR to Ngong Ping 360. Be careful of those selling tickets to NP 360. It is the quickest way to get to The Big Buddha aka Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery. For someone who isn't a fan of heights, it was bad at all. The see through bottom was really cool. As we were moving, you could see the city and the airport in the distance. It's nice to get away from the craziness of Hong Kong. The 20 ride was beautiful and scenic, over water and mountainous terrain. You can see the Big Buddha too. It's so breath taking, you forget about the hustle and bustle of the city. The standard cabin is $27(USD) and the crystal cabin is $37(USD) roundtrip. My group and I bought the tickets to the crystal cabin. (There are clean bathrooms after the ticket station.) The line went really fast. The employees made sure to fill the cabins but they weren't crowded. The cabins are moving slowly as we all hopped in. A NP360 employee will take a picture of your group that you can purchase when you exit. NP360 closes at 6pm on the weekdays. Around 5:45pm in the village there was such a long line to get back on the cable cars. The upside of buying a crystal cabin tickets was the line was shorter and we got on pretty fast.

Yelp
As everyone said, it's a worthwhile ride. According to their website, CNN, the Telegraph and USA Today all consider it one of the best cable car rides in the world. This is the epitome of a scenic route: the cable car is somewhat slow, the trip takes about 20 minutes, but the scenery is so beautiful, so breath-taking, you may want it to last longer. First you'll get to see the airport from a different angle. Then you realize that despite Hong Kong's reputation as an ultra-modern and highly urbanized city, it does have its verdant and natural side. The highlight is the buddha statue, sitting tranquilly on the hilltop. It may be a flustered day of travel, a long line for the cable car, but gazing at the statue, you will feel peace and zen washing away your troubles. Honestly, I love this view of the Buddha statue best... much better than up close. The cable car will deposit you at Ngong Ping Village, which is a not a real village, but rather a promenade through lots of shops vying for your tourist money. While prices are inflated, and they have chains like Starbucks and 7-11, it's fun to walk around and explore, as the souvenir shops are tidier than the Mongkok and Stanley markets.

Yelp
I definitely recommend Ngong Ping 360 if you've never been before! Worth giving it a shot! THOUGHTS: Definitely try the crystal cabin cable car, price is about $5 difference conpared to standard cable car. There was really no wait to purchase the tickets which came out to be $40 roundtrip. Well worth it for the view and experience. I arrived pretty early as the line to get on the cable car got ridiculously long. Didn't help with the rain and thunderstorm which caused a slight delay due to maintenance technicality. In the end, everything worked out and off I went. The cable car ride seemed to be a tad bit too long, just when I crossed the first mountain and thought I had reached the top, the cable car continued to go higher. The scenery was gorgeous which is why I recommend the crystal cabin. There was about a hand full of waterfalls, you can see the ocean right beneath your feet. I'd go back again if I was in Hong Kong and intended to go see the Tian Tan Buddha

Yelp
Ngong Ping 360 & Village was beyond amazing! Price: - Round trip $185 HKD ~ $24.83 USD for regular cabin - Round trip $255 HKD ~ $35.17 USD for crystal cabin Tina's Travel and Tabloid - Located at the end of Tung Chung MTR Station ~ 3 minute walk - Very risky, but travel guy from agency sold tickets for $15 HKD ~ $2.07 USD less for regular cabin - I checked his badge, cash only, and made sure he sent me the email confirmation before I left. You can retrieve your ticket at the voucher ticket booth. It was legit, but only with the email! - Took about 20-30 minutes to get to the other side, but be sure to come back by 6:00PM latest! Their last trip back is 6:30PM and they cut off the line. - Must visit while in HK!

Yelp
A visit to Lantau Island is a great day trip if you are in Hong Kong. I had a great time in Ngong Ping Village at the Big Buddha and monastery. Ngong Ping 360 is a touristy thing to do, sure, but it remains one of the most memorable experiences that I had when I traveled to China. The ride in the crystal cabin tram car is totally worth it because you can see below you as the tram passes over the water and mountains. People hike that joker to get to the village, and you can spot them from your cabin car. The ride is 25 minutes each way and you'll have plenty of opportunities to take pictures and just take in amazing views. I absolutely loved it!

Yelp
After The Peak Tower, Ngong Ping 360 is probably the next largest tourist trap in Hong Kong. Located on Lantau Island, Ngong Ping 360 is a 5.7 km (3.5 mi) suspended cable car ride up from Tung Chung town to Ngong Ping Village. The cable car ride is approximately 25 minutes one-way. Two cabins are available: standard and crystal (clear glass bottom). The extra ~$70 HKD splurge for the crystal bottom cabin is worth it if you enjoy the thrill of heights and want more viewing capability. Along the ride, you enjoy a range of views: HK International Airport, lush greenery of Lantau Country Park, hardcore hikers below you, and Tian Tan Buddha (Big Buddha). Once you exit the cable car terminal, you enter Ngong Ping Village. If sensational theater entertainment and touristy souvenir shops don't pique your interest, skip Ngong Ping Village all together and head over the Tian Tan Buddha or the Po Lin Monastery or hike along the Wisdom Path trail for a more cultural and religious experience. At the top of the stairs to the grand bronze Tian Tan Buddha (approximately 300 steps), take in the lovely 360 views of both the mountains and the sea. There are several ticketing options for Ngong Ping 360: cable car ride only, 360 sky-land-sea day pass, 360 fun day pass, tour packages, etc. We opted for the 360 sky-land-sea day pass for $325 HKD pp, which included the round trip cable car ride in the crystal cabin, the bus ride to/from Tai O, a boat excursion at Tai O, and a Ngong Ping souvenir shop voucher worth $20 HKD. I recommend this ticket option because I really enjoyed a few hours glimpse of the fishing village Tai O. And I highly advise pre-purchasing the ticket vouchers at least 1 day in advance to avoid the long queue (took 1 hour on a weekday late morning to queue to purchase tickets, and then another 15-20 minutes queue to get on the cable car). Despite the large crowds, I still recommend a day trip to Ngong Ping on Lantau Island, but be sure to start early in the day!

Yelp
I bought my 360 Sky Land and Sea day pass from Klook that included the round trip for the Ngong Ping Gondola, Day Bus Pass and a Boat ride to Tai O. Ordering from Klook honestly saved me a lot of time. I showed them my voucher on my phone and they gave me the tickets. The gondola is about half an hour ride I believed and it is the fastest way to get to the Big Buddha. When you get on the gondola there will be a photographer taking photos of each group so by the time you reach the top, you can purchase photos for your memories. I chose the regular cabin instead of the glass because I don't really care about taking a picture of my feet.

Yelp
Loved this! It's a long 25 minute ride. I booked through Viator so we skipped the line which was perfect. I would definitely recommend the tour so you don't have to deal with crowds. The view is beautiful. There's also an option of having a glass bottom cable car. This is a must do in Hong Kong.

Yelp
Cable car/gondola ride to/from the Giant Buddha on Lantau Island. Must do! Awesome views! Get your cameras ready! 20 - 25 minute ride. You can pay a little more for the crystal cabin (with the glass floor). Even if you don't, the regular cabins still provide great panoramic views. Our ride was part of a larger tour package, so we didn't have to wait in line to purchase tickets. Even so, there was only a very short line to get onto the cable cars (We were there on a Tuesday afternoon). Would definitely recommend to anyone!

Yelp
You gotta do this! See Hong Kong and the Big Buddha with a beautiful cable car ride to the top. You could do the painfully long hike up (not a bad idea, if you have got a lot of time to kill in HK), or you could take the bus, which will take you forever. Or you can take this sweet cable car for HKD $185 (regular car, not the fancy pants glass-bottomed one), which factors out to a little more than $20 USD for a round trip. It's incredibly gorgeous and a very long trip, so there is definitely bang-for-the-buck in this journey. My cheap Chinese ass even thinks that there is solid value in the cable car! On days that visibility is poor, it can be a struggle when you get near the top since you won't be able to see anything at some points. Have fun dodging the photographers who desperately try to get you to buy a photo at the end.

Yelp
Ngong ping 360 cable car was pretty scary to go on at first because before it was released, there was a story on the news saying that a cable car actually dropped from the wires. Ngong Ping 360 was also on the news as one of the famous judges on Hong Kong mispronounced the name as "Ngong Ping sam luk ling" instead of "Ngong Ping three sixty". Both of these stories caused quite a bit of comotion, but it certainly grabbed the attention of local Hong Kong residences. Anyways, we came here and at first we were a little lost as to where we needed to purchase the tickets, but we found it after a short while and were crammed with the rest of the tourists on a weekday. At the ticket place, you can purchase three options: the two way or the one way ticket. For the two way tickets, you can get the crystal cabinet, standard cabinet and the one way standard, one way crystal cabinet. For the two way tickets, you are looking at $165 for the standard cabinet and $255 for the crystal cabinet. We decided to stick with the standard cabinet because my mom's pretty afraid of heights and will probably be freaking out the entire time if we got the crystal cabinet. We needed to share the cable care with another pair, so it could hold more people. The view was amazing from the cable car. we were able to see the large buddha and the many mountains of Hong Kong. It reminded me a little of the cable car ride in Ocean Park!

Yelp
I definitely recommend Ngong Ping 360 if you've never been before! Not entirely sure if I'd go again though. ADVICE: Make sure to buy the tickets online beforehand to skip the regular line. I bought tickets through a travel agency online called Klook. It comes out to $18 USD for a roundtrip ticket on the cable car. Well worth it when you consider how long the ride is. It was kind of a bad time for me to figure out that I AM slightly scared of heights... but I'm still glad I went. If you think you might get scared at all, DON'T do the crystal cabin. I'm quite glad I went with the standard cabin because I probably would have panicked if I had to look directly down.

Yelp
This was a lot of fun. I recommend everyone to do this. It's a once in a lifetime experience. It cost 210 HKD a person and you get so see the city in a different light. It really looks beautiful. When you get to the top they have restaurants and temples and more things to explore you could spend a few hours up there. It takes about 25 minutes to get all the way up and 25 minutes to get down. If it's windy the car will sway a little but it's really cool.

Yelp
Awesome cable car ride!! This was one of the highlights from my visit to Hong Kong! The cable car ride took about 20 minutes each way. You will definitely want to purchase a round trip ticket unless you plan on hiking all day because the trail back is extremely long!
