Quiet lodge with spacious rooms each with a porch allowing you to enjoy the views of the tropical forest and frequently grazing water bucks (sorry no crater views here). Each room has a stove & fuel and they will bring coals for you if you are cool. Electricity is limited with outlets only working 6-9a and 6-9p and wifi only in the dining hall. The dining hall is the nicest feature with many windows and a big fireplace. Food is decent with limited evening menus (typical lodge fare) and generally included with the room. No complaints.

Nice lodge with wonderful restaurant. Comfortable rooms with wood stove inside. Dinner and breakfast were very good. Our room had a nice patio. Only 1 hair dryer to share for the entire lodge.

We stayed at Rhino Lodge for one night and the experience, compared to other places we were nearby, was not the best. The positive points are essentially the staff, the food which was good and the bed. The negative points are the rooms: the walls are not insulated at all and all you need is a neighbor who speaks a little louder and you can hear everything. We woke up at 5am when we had expected to wake up 2h30 later and all due to poor insulation. High price/quality for what they sell.

Simple lodge but well located at the gate of Ngorongoro Park. The rooms are basic but comfortable for one night. We appreciated the wood stove to warm us at night. The staff takes great care, the restaurant is excellent with two fireplaces for warming up. Special mention for the incredible view from the restaurant terrace.

Great location and friendly staff, but the rooms feel in need of updating. The hotel is approximately 20 mins drive from the access road to the crater, so it's location is really good. There is a bar and restaurant which serves buffet style breakfast and dinner. Drinks prices seem higher than other hotels we stayed in during our trip to Tanzania. Great sunset and clear skies, and wildlife wandering through the hotel gardens during the evening.

Reached the Lodge towards the evening and my pal and I were greeted by the friendly staff. We were brought to our room which has a private balcony and overlook the greens and animals! Wonderful! Dinner time and cos it was off-peak season, our meals were prepared individually! I had fish and it’s good! The fire place warmed up the restaurant! Except for the restriction on the time you’re allowed to charge your electronics (which is understandable since the Lodge is powered by Generators and the lack of WiFi coverage in the room, all in all, I would say it was a pleasant stay! Serene and peaceful! Would recommend for anyone interested in a rustic stay with lots of cultural traditions history!

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Rhino. yes it is more rustic and a little older than some of the other lodges we stayed in but the proximity to nature (waterbucks a few feet from our balcony), the friendliness of the staff (particular mention to Kitume 😊), the great food and the roaring fire made this a memorable evening.

Great lodge at the Ngorongoro. The room is big a confy and it has a balcony from which you can see the backyard that has animals. When we arrive there was Buffaloes. It was amazing. They have a delicious dinner and great breakfast. In the restauran there is a fireplace which is great because the Ngorongoro is cold.
