Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge

"Clinging to the rim of Ngorongoro Crater, this visually-stunning resort was built from local river stones covered in thick vines. Every room has its own private balcony with sweeping views. Game drives, nature walks, and nightly Masai dances leave little to be desired for a luxurious safari experience."

Fantastic location. Can see the crater from the hotel room back door balcony 👌. Nice lounge to relax and get drinks while enjoying the beautiful crater view. We were lucky to see waterbucks strolling in the backyard room balcony. Spacious room and large bathroom. Hot breakfast station serving omlette and good dinner buffet. Nice location in nature. Highly recommended.

Situated on the border of the Ngorongoro Crater, this Serena hotel has a great view of this special place. They used a lot of rocks, wood, paintings and local objects, creating a very nice decoration. Staff are polite and helpful. When we were there there was a traditional presentation of Maasai people at night. All the meals were great, delicious and with a wide variety of options. Our room was big, with a very comfortable bed and excellent shower. The Ngorongoro Crater was the most special place for us during our safari days, and this hotel was the right choice to our days there.

We had two nights here and our final nights before finishing our safari. We wanted to finish in style and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! We loved it here. Food was great. Room was comfy and warm with a great view of the crater. Staff were great, warm & welcoming. Thank you.

We only stayed for one night, but since we checked in early before sunset, we had plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful view from our room and the terrace. The next morning, the crater was completely covered in thick fog, so we couldn’t see it at all—making us even more grateful that we had enjoyed the view the day before.|On the day we stayed, there were also a few large tour groups, but the restaurant was spacious and well-organized, so it never felt crowded or noisy. We didn’t have to wait at the salad or dessert buffet, and everything was very comfortable. For dinner, the main course could be chosen from several options; I went with the beef steak, and it was absolutely delicious.

Absolutely lovely lodge. We were given the Presidential suite and our view was spectacular. Our room were large and well furnished, beautiful paintings on the walls.|My only complaint is that it is not friendly to people with disabilities. Steps, steps, steps, built in another age. They were so kind to serve us dinner in the bar so we would not have to climb additional steps to the dining room. The food was very good and the people were kind and friendly.

Located over the rim of the crater, it was an absolute delight to stay here. The sunrise was a scene to behold and we had elephants as our guests. Great food, loads of hot water to bathe.

I came here for one night with my tour group, and was placed in a very far room that had a broken phone and no way to communicate so I did not feel safe. I finally contacted my tour leader and had my room changed. The place caters to large tour groups and the food is adequate. The room had a very large noise from the bathroom fan and a soap dispenser that didn’t work, but when I called the front desk, they were attentive. The sleep was average.

We only spent overnight here. The view from our room balcony was amazing and the hotel has an authentic safari vibe complete with Masai song and dance pre-dinner performance. Their resto has a classy feel and service was excellent.
