Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge

Sopa Lodge is on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. On a 2 day Safari, we arrived just at dusk and left just after sunrise, so we did not get to enjoy the spectacular view. The Lodge is ... well ... pretty far removed from everything. The facilities are excellent. Electricity is by big generator - that we could not hear. Hot water is available 5-8 am and 5-9 pm. The restaurant is wonderful, bot in service and in quality (and selection) of dinner and breakfast. The reception and hospitality staff answered every request. Rooms are large. Lobby is beautiful. Swimming pool ... we didn't get to use it. Security is ever present to keep guests safe from wild animals. Zebra slept on the lawn.

Our suite had a gorgeous view of the lake. The room was huge with two full size beds and a seating are to soak in the view. The service was amazing and there were zebras on the premises. A gorgeous pool as well. We stayed only a night and I wish we had stayed there much longer. ||||The food was okay. The staff was great and fun. They sang happy birthday to someone and danced.

This lodge is beautiful! The views are just spectacular. The rooms are large and the showers are top notch (very important feature after a full day of safari drives). The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly! Would definitely return here for a longer stay :)

We stayed at the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge in early June 2021, just after it had opened back up, and were among the first guests to stay there since the pandemic started. The location is phenomenal, with the best views over the caldera, and the lodge has a lovely sense of remoteness, yet with all the comforts. The hospitality we received was just off the charts, and the staff could not have been more genuinely friendly and caring that we were comfortable and thoroughly enjoying our time with them. Our room was quite spacious, and had a separate sitting area with floor to ceiling windows, the perfect place to sit with a cup of tea and just take in the extraordinary views. One could easily spend several days here in complete peace and relaxation! Beautiful lobby and bar/lounge area as well. We were sorry to only have two nights there, and can’t wait to go back. Very highly recommended!

We spent 2 nights at this lovely lodge. It would have gotten 5 stars but for the fact that my room had not yet had the bedding upgraded. I commented on the hard bet and they rushed to pad it for me though. ||The best part (other than the fantastic view of the crater) was the Chef at the beautiful restaurant. We commented on the first night that we would love to have some more authentic African food as we had been getting pretty touristic meals to date. He went all out the next night with an amazing repast of local cuisine. Pumpkin/spinach - coconut shrimp - shrimp with african sauce - lamb stew and on and on. Delicious! He was proud that we enjoyed it so much.||Great spot -

The lodge is located near the rim of the Ngorongoro crater with stunning views and pleasant architecture. The rooms were quite comfortable and the dining room was spectacular. We were often greeted by a variety of birds and the resident monkey. The staff was uniformly friendly and knowledgeable, as was our guide. The Masai dancers provided interesting cultural entertainment. My wife and I had a wonderful experience.

wonderful lodge, at the rim of Ngorongoro crater. Beautiful rooms and well maintained property. We saw several zebras outside our room. We were told Elephants also frequent visitors. Restaurant is great with very good food. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

This spacious and welcoming lodge boasts a stunning view over the Ngorongoro Crater. When we were there, some zebras had made themselves residents of the ground surrounding the lodge and we enjoyed watching them in close proximity to the lounge, dining room, and our comfortable bedrooms. The staff were friendly and the chef came over to our table to craft a menu especially for our vegetarians; so delicious and plentiful.
