This is a really fun, quirky side of the markets. There's some food in this part, but it's mainly little, hole-in-the-wall (in the best possible way!) little stalls, and the majority are other kinds of store - books, soaps, socks, kitchenware, crystals, that kind of thing. Really worth a visit before braving the throngs over on the other side.

Loved the Niche markets. Found a very cute little jewellery shop NOT over priced they have just returned from overseas with lovely new things. Yay Xmas presents. Also a very cute little children's clothing shop with African inspired clothing bright and beautiful and the food there is just fantastic. They have Thai, Vietnamese (all fresh and yummy) , Korean( with yummy matcha, sesame and plain ice cream) , dumpling store, The Juice shop ( no added water or concentrated apple juice ) freshly made, Malaysian, Japanese. It's all street food some great sit down meals and lifeline for a great display of cheap books. My favourite place to go at Fyshwick markets.

These markets have been in Fyshwick as l can remember. It is open Thursday to Sunday from 7am to 5:30pm. There is a great variety of shops that includes fruit & vege, nuts, meats, cafes & pastries, a pet shop and bottle shop. It has a really nice relaxed atmosphere and plenty of seating in the sun and shade. Most of the fruit and veg are a little higher in price than supermarkets but they are also fresher. All of the shops I have been to here have eftpos facilities so I'm guessing that cash is not required, although there is an ATM on site if cash is needed. There is plenty of free parking inside and around the outside of the markets. There are also some expansions occurring to accommodate more shops. Hopefully they get filled soon! A great coffee shop here is Picollo. They make awesome coffee for a pretty standard price ($5.30 for an almond cap). I recommend checking out these markets if you haven't been.

I like to wander bookshops, and the Lifeline store is pretty good.. like the bookfairs, you need time to browse as shelves are not alphabetical.. but remember, it is a volunteer run store
