We stopped by Nicky's Thai Kitchen on Christmas Eve when many places were closed and were glad to find them open. We were greeted at the front and seated toward the back near the kitchen. The space is beautifully done, and even on a holiday evening it felt lively yet comfortable.
Ordered Fresh Spring Rolls — $8.00
Not your usual spring rolls; these include tofu. After looking at the menu later, it clearly lists fried tofu as an ingredient, so that explains why this one wasn’t our favorite.
Wonton Soup $7.00
Samosa $8.00
Pad Thai $22.00
Spicy Fried Rice with Chicken $21.00
Two Ginger Beers $6.00 each
Subtotal: $78.00
Tax: $5.46
Service charge 20%: $15.60
Total: $99.06
Service charge is noted on the receipt, and the restaurant's own site confirms a dine‑in service charge and tipping policy for dine‑in orders.
The spring rolls were the only item that didn't quite land for us, due to the tofu, but everything else was excellent. I ordered the spicy fried rice at spice level 3, which the server warned me might be hot and he was right. From the first spoonful I was sweating; it was that spicy. It was too hot for me to finish on the spot, so I asked for a take‑home box. Portions are generous easily enough for two people to share one dish. That was a huge bonus.
If you're not into very spicy food, go with heat level 1 or 2; the food is still flavorful, just less intense. Based on this experience, I'll return and order level 1 next time.
Our server was kind, polite, and checked in often. He even joked about the spice level when he saw me sweating, which showed good rapport.
Beautiful, inviting space, even on a busy holiday night. The vibe near the kitchen was energetic but not chaotic.
The 20% service charge felt unusual to us and is something diners should be aware of in advance. It’s clearly listed, but it did affect the overall bill.
Still, given the delicious food, generous portions, attentive service, and the fact they were open on Christmas Eve, this is a place we'll gladly return to, just with a milder spice level next time.
