"I understand Nicolas-Jay Estate as a Willamette Valley project co-founded by Jean-Nicolas Méo, who emphasizes that Oregon—like Burgundy—is complex and variable, producing pinot noir from small, expressive sites." - Justin Goldman
The Best Wineries in Oregon's Willamette Valley - AFAR
"A more recent Burgundy-backed project launched with its first vintage in 2014 as a collaboration between Burgundian Jean-Nicolas Méo and U.S. music executive Jay Boberg; the Dundee-based winery occupies the former Bishop Creek Vineyard and offers intimate, appointment-only guided tastings. The wines follow a Burgundian sensibility—try the Momtazi pinot noir, a structured, cellarable bottling with brooding, dark earthen berry flavors." - Bryce Wiatrak
We had a wonderful tasting experience at Nicolas-Jay. Ryan, who guided us through the wines, was absolutely delightful — knowledgeable, warm, and passionate. The whole team was welcoming and professional, and the tasting itself was generous, detailed, and truly memorable. The wines are outstanding, with a level of elegance and complexity that could rival some of the best from Burgundy. A must-visit in Oregon!

Nicolas Jay is quite simply the best tasting experience for the serious wine aficionado in the Willamette Valley; expertly guided by Kevin, who has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the terroir and is passionate to share his knowledge of the wine making process and the wines. He also had samples of soil from the various vineyards to explain the differences between the profiles. The tasting room resembles a kitchen and so you are made to feel at home and the environment is relaxed. A ‘young’ Oregon winery that delivers a sophisticated wine that is allowed to speak for itself. But a serious winery with a light touch in wine making and in the presentation, which was the most thorough of the eight we attended and the most fun! Harvest had started and Kevin presented us the process, as well as the history of the wine cooperation between Nicolas and Jay. Some of the wine ‘sorters’ and Jay himself came to join us at the end. A visit here is an absolute MUST if you are serious and interested in pinot. An utter delight. Karen

What an unforgettable experience at Nicolas-Jay in the beautiful Willamette Valley! Ryan and Rob went above and beyond to make our tasting both educational and incredibly fun. Their passion and knowledge truly shine through in every pour, and it was such a treat to learn about the winemaking process from them. The wines were absolutely exceptional—each one telling its own story.
We left not only with some amazing bottles but also with a newfound appreciation for the craft. We’re so grateful for the warm hospitality and can’t wait to continue our journey as members. Highly recommend this gem to anyone looking to experience the best of Oregon wine!

Nicolas-Jay is an absolute must if you’re visiting Oregon wine country! Such a unique experience with some truly unbeatable Pinots in their gorgeous tasting room.
We had the Pinot Noir Library tasting, definitely worth it. They toasted the hazelnuts right there in the tasting room, and paired some delicious local cheeses with our wines. We got a few of their bottles - their 2015 was our favorite. The associate who led us through our tasting was very knowledgable, patient, and kind. Will definitely be back next time we’re in Willamette Valley!

We had a super fun tasting of some magical wines, both whites and reds, from the 2022 & 2023 vintages. Rob was a terrific host & guide to the Nicolas Jay wines, both informative and entertaining. Do stop by this excellent winery!

Amazing experience here. This was our first stop on our Willamette valley wine tour. Rob was amazing, I've been to many wine tastings before across the globe but never had someone more passionate and enthusiastic as he was. His story telling and obsession over the wine made this a wonderful experience. We can't wait to come back.

Yelp
We were doing some wine tasting in Oregon and went to the Nicolas Jay Estate the third day of our trip. We were greeted by Becca our host and she was amazing. Very knowledgeable and even roasted some nuts to go with our cheese plate and wine. The interior was very well designed with memorabilia on the walls that gave a cool edge to the vibe of the tasting room. We tasted 4 wonderful wines, "Own-Rooted" 2021Pinot Noir which is an un-grafted vine, L'Ensemble 2021Pinot Noir a 2015 Pinot Noir and-lastly "Spirit Hill" a beautiful Chardonnay. It was a great experience to start the last day there.

Yelp
Decided to visit a few wineries over the weekend. This was our first stop and should've been our only stop. Absolutely AMAZING!! I drink wine; however, am not at all knowledgeable in this regard. I just know what I like. Kevin was our guide today and he was great! So passionate and knowledgeable regarding the vineyard and how it runs. I learned so much about wine and how the grapes are grown and processed. Each and every wine we tasted was delicious. My favorite was the 2019 L'Ensemble. So good!!
