Always amazing food, friendly people and great times! The new manager has already done so much to elevate this restaurant by including new dishes and specials! Definitely somewhere you should stop by and give a try!

So, I loved almost everything…the fried chicken was terrific. I got out of my comfort zone and ordered black eyed peas and a southern salad with fried green tomatoes. Everything was so good. The bad: blue cheese dressing was terrible, the salad was dropped off at the same time as entree, it took too long to get the food, and the server wasn’t super friendly—-we were there just a couple minutes past closing and we were rudely pushed out of there.

Went for solo lunch. Had the fried pork chops, collard greens, and a small salad. The meal was a meT and three... Only ordered the 2 sides and was up charged $5 for the salad. The blue cheese dressing for the salad was very sweet. Pork chops and collards were excellent. Service was ok, but only had had 1 person on the floor. Bill was just under $30 for lunch before the tip with an iced tea.

I have ate at Nigel several times but normally go to the one in Charleston which is always awesome and I recently tried the one in Hanahan with some coworkers and we had to take out order I called on several times I bought my order spent over $60 on my food and it was not good at all the food was not hot the skin on the pork chop was falling off it wasn't fried hard enough the chicken was salty and Soggy the rice will scorched overall a bad experience and I kept calling and calling and never got an answer so they can refund or replace the order it seemed like they needed to take more time and they rushed to order after waiting over 30 minutes to receive Food. The only thing that was good was a cornbread it takes more like cake but it was good. I will definitely take the ride to Charleston before eating here again or the one in Summerville.

Google
Wonderful experience. I come pretty often and always get great service, and wonderful food. I typically sit at the bar, Autumn is a new bartender but she’s taken great care of me since we’ve met. They do a great job of being consistent and making you feel at home. I visit frequently and they have yet to fail me

Google
I wasn't too sure of this place when I walked in. We came to have dinner, and my finger partner assured me that this food was quite delicious. Didn't understand the paintings on the walls or the decor going on. I say down and opened the menu and saw all kinds of choices. I ordered country fried steak round gravy with mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and corn. The server was very understanding. The food was absolutely delicious. It tastes like southern cooking. A huge must try.

Google
Who made the potato salad? My family and I were visiting town this past weekend from Alabama, searching for a good home-cooked meal at a reasonable price—and we found Nigel’s. The atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming, and the food was prepared with love, just like Grandma and the aunties make for family gatherings. A special thank you to the cook and the restaurant manager for such a savory, delicious, and delightful experience!

Yelp
Dropped by and tried another dish. I had the ravioli and it was interesting. The appearance itself was not very attractive but the taste was great. I did need a piece of bread to finish it off because I like to dip my bread into sauce. There weren't too many people around but the service was quite good.

Yelp
This hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Hanahan is widely considered to be a Charleston classic, and it lives up to at least the hole-in-the-wall aspect in that it's a dimly-lit, almost small-cafeteria-like setting. The food, though, is a different story. I will begin by saying that it's difficult to give an accurate opinion of Nigel's because they were out of quite a bit of food on the night I went -- the Geechie wings, notably, which I'd very much wanted to give a go. The server was quite friendly about this, though, and offered insight to the alternatives. The plate I got consisted of country fried steak, mac 'n cheese, cornbread, collard greens, and I also tried the fried tomatoes as an alternative appetizer (which were the best of all these -- fried to perfection). I found the mac 'n cheese somewhat and cornbread to be very dry which was disappointing. Notably, it seemed that many of the tables left barely-eaten cornbread on their plates for the servers to pick up. Not my favorite collard greens either --- the juice just had a peculiar taste to it. I will be back to try these Geechie wings and possibly some other sides. Will leave an updated review once I do.

Yelp
This place was great! Food took a bit to come out but that was probably due to being cooked to order because everything was hot when it came out. All tasted delicious! The cornbread was huge! A bit dry but tasted good. Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were great. Wish i would have gotten the collards to try. Next time! Country fried steak was fork tender and had excellent flavor. Will be back!

Yelp
Nigel's Good Food is tucked back in a small apartment complex off of Foster Creek Road in Hanahan SC. It is a small no thrills restaurant that provides indoor and outdoor seating. I received wonderful service and was seated Quickly. Nigel's offer southern comfort foods at its best. The Fried chicken was on point. They offer white meat or a dark meat option. The cornbread is sweet and moist large enough to feed 2 people. The food came out hot and fresh. I was not a fan of the mash potatoes and gravy. The potatoes were kind of dry and the gravy was salty for my taste. Their plate offers 1 Meat choice with 3 sides. The price point is good for the amount of food you are served. I would recommend you try the establishment.

Debra K.

Yelp
Great place to have southern cuisine. I've done there several times... The pork chops were off the chart but everything I've had there has been really good.

Stefan T.

Yelp
Star was friendly. Service was slow though. We were disappointed in the atmosphere of the third of Nigel's restaurants. The food is barely diner level although the pride is not cheap. They serve plenty of food, but it's not worth the price. While there, another customer came for take out and asked for extra salad dressing and waited quite a while for it. She finally left after not receiving it. The place was. It busy so we're not sure why the service was slow.

Natasha B.

Yelp
Ok- so this place had me really confused. It looks so cute from the outside but the inside is pretty dank and dreary. The shrimp n grits was really good, fried chicken was just ok. The wings (geechy) was not good- they were too sweet. Banana pudding was delicious. I would have liked more consistency in the shrimp n grits.

Max A.

Yelp
Meh, it is okay. Not sure if I would go again. Zero draft beer choices. Bottle or can beer choices none existent. Bummer. Soup of the Day - "Sorry, we do not have soup, it has been to hot". Huh, um okay? I went with the suggestion of our server - Low Country Ravioli. The flavor was to die for. The whiskey cream sauce with the corn, black eyed peas was awesome, the flavor just works. The ravioli are large, with a nice amount of cheese stuffing..... My only gripe - please add more chicken. The grilled chicken is diced into very small shredded chicken, as in, I had to search for the chicken. My wife got the Whiting. The fish was served with some sort of dill/butter topping. Way to salty, the flavor was off. This piece of fish was way to fishy, just not good. I tried it and was not impressed. The mac-n-cheese was decent.

Luke G.

Yelp
Food is great! Not much to look on the inside, service is great. Not too busy. Get the wings and the pork chops.

Cheryl G.

Yelp
Great new family restaurant in town. Wonderful food cooked to perfection. Indoor & outdoor seating. Nice bar. Excellent staff. HURRY DOWN & beat the crowd. I've been to his restaurant off Cosgrove oops (MY MISTAKE ACTUALLY OFF ASHLEY PHOSPHATE RD ) & can't wait to go to his BBQ place. We had some of his BBQ. Delicious & collard greens to die for thank you for sharing BROOKIE! I will be back for another visit! Thanks Scotty

Yelp
I was very disappointed in my lunch. I ordered a burger, but requested no grilled onions as it was listed on the menu. No problem- get my burger and it was very well done when I ordered medium and it tasted very much like onions. I even saw some in my burger. Yes, in. I didn't continue eating and asked if there were onions IN it to which they advised me that there were onions mixed in with the chuck. Had I known this I wouldn't have ordered it. I'm not alright, I just really don't like them- but what if I was! I said no onions... So I feel like it should have been told to be about onions being in the burger itself. The fries were solid. I asked for them to be well done, to which they weren't, but they were pretty good. Great flavor. The staff consisted of two people checking tables and it was very slow to get any service. I'm not sure if I'll be back to try it again since it left a bad taste in my mouth (both literally and figuratively).

Yelp
Nigels is relatively new in Hanahan. Hadn't heard much but the little bit I had heard was very positive. My father & his wife were in town for a few days and wanted to have dinner. Since none in my family had been I decided to give it a try. The establishment is small but cozy comfortable. There were 5 of us but only 4 eating. We looked over the menu and placed our orders. Service was quick, portions were generous and the food was delicious. True southern confort food. Everyone left full with plenty of leftovers. The prices were quite reasonable when considering portions and the quality of food. I cannot recommend this place enough. We will be frequent diners.

Hoang Vi F.

Yelp
The staff is super kind and welcoming the ambiance is super laid back and very basic. We love the comfort food and all of the flavors and comfort food it brings hands down the best fried chicken! Def come here earlier as it does get packed and there's limited seating. We love the owners and the staff really make our experience on top of the service!

Ravyn W.

Yelp
The food was amazing. I went for the Yelp event to celebrate the new location. I had the shrimp and grits w/ sausage that was so delicious and very tasty. I also had the chicken and waffles. I don't know what it was about those waffles but they were DELICIOUS. I will definitely be visiting one of the locations for them again.

Kelly C.

Yelp
Made my first visit to the new Hanahan Nigel's location recently with some girlfriends for lunch. We all got different orders and oohed and aahed over each others' meals. I went with the Lowcountry salad ($12.95) with grilled chicken (+$8) on top, and it was enough food to last me for 3 lunches! It was the perfect choice for lunch and I look forward to my next visit.

John J.

Yelp
I love this place. Small, but the food is amazing. I had the ravioli, country style and it's the best dish I've had in a long time! My wife had the plate special of country fried steak, black eyed peas and sweet potatoes. It was amazing, cornbread is top notch also. If you are from a region in this country that supports agriculture and knows what good food (soul food) is about, this is the place. I'm going again before I go home to the Mississippi Delta!!

Lisa R.

Yelp
We just moved to the area from Myrtle Beach. Trust me when I tell you I have had my fair share of some really good soul food in the past. But let me be 100% honest, this is the absolute best of the best when it comes to soul food. the chicken is fried to perfection and extremely juicy, the cornbread is thick and so so moist, the collards and Mac and cheese are seasoned and cooked so well. Their prices are very fair priced for the amount of food they give you. The customer service was amazing and they are very polite. I have absolutely no complaints about this food or the staff there and will make sure to recommend everyone I can to this place.

Jason R.

Yelp
There service could improve I came in and told them I wanted to feed 5 people the had absolutely no suggestions for me. Like maybe buy 4 appetizers and an entree something. So I decided to spend the $15 on the geechee wings I think that's how the where spelt the tasted cool and I took me money to another establishment that actually wanted my money. Spent $130 that this place did not even try earn. I won't be back

Jana J.

Yelp
First time visiting this location. Came for a grand opening / Yelp event. I've been to the other 2. Expected nothing short of great food and that's what I got! Red rice (one of my favorite dishes btw) was really good! chicken drummettes were fried and seasoned to perfection! Also enjoyed the okra & seafood rice. the staff were very friendly and hospitable!! I appreciate that when dining anywhere! Constantly checking in on us to make sure we were good and offering to take our trash away. bar drinks were really good as well. inside wasnt that big but none of the locations are which is fine because it gives that family dining feel; as if you are home. this location also has outside seating areas which is always a plus!

Jason F.

Yelp
The chicken and biscuits was amazing. The biscuit was buttery and fluffy. I was worried about having peas with gravy but the peas really make it. You can tell they use fresh vegetables and not canned. My wife got the country fried steak and she really liked because it wasn't to thick and lightly fried compared to other restaurants they use a heavy batter for country fried steak. Everything was really good and alll the staff were so nice, quick and friendly. Definitely want to go back and try the ravioli next time.

Patrick Z.

Yelp
The wait for the meal was an hour, and then when they brought the dish, the chicken came raw, disgusting, And they didn't give a compensation or say anything.

David N.

Yelp
This place is one of the best places I've ever eaten near Charleston. I only say that because I can't immediately think of a better place than this. The fried whiting is huge and crispy. The red rice is perfectly executed. The collard greens are top notch. Elite.

Anthony G.

Yelp
The pork chop was SALTY. Mashed potatoes were cold. Corn and macaroni cheese was seasoned. Server not friendly. Not the Nigels i am use to.

Devon H.

Yelp
Nigel's may be known for their wings, their Okra, and/or Porkchops... BUT let me TELL you... Their ***RAVIOLI*** is AMAZING!!! I just picked it up; it's hot, smells divine & I can't wait to dig in!!! I have ordered this 3 times now, and it NEVER disappoints! I know it's very hot & humid outside, but I will ALWAYS order this from here.

Christy D.

Yelp
My daughter and I thought we'd stop in the new location and check it out! We go to the Ashley phosphate locate regularly and have been to Ladson. Pulling up we were impressed by the exterior and building is beautiful. Inside is a bit small but nice and clean and it looked like a nice bar area. I was saddened to learn there is no koolaid at this location and was informed the fried chicken was different than the other locations. I asked if it's the same owner and she said yes. I found that odd . And I was super sad there was no Lima beans and rice plate like the other location. We did get the fried chicken and it just seemed less seasoned than the other locations and did taste different. My daughter didn't like it. I had the country fried steak. It was good and the gravy was flavorful. The piece of cornbread I had was hard as a brick. I showed it to the server who said it was like that today. Disappointing because I love their cornbread!! We may try back again but we definitely like the original the best! Their sweet tea was good too!

Joelle P.

Yelp
So good! Had it once while visiting South Carolina and has been the ONLY place I went back to more than once because it's that good!

Tracy J U.

Yelp
Amazing fried chicken, greens , Mac and cheese , cornbread . Great and friendly service. My son had the pork chops to die for . Wife had the chicken tenders so good . Fan fan fan here .

Ashlei H.

Yelp
If you are tired of paying $30 for mediocre meals while traveling/vacationing; please come to Nigels for delicious food that will actually fill you up. You'll be supporting local AND I promise you won't be disappointed. Omm (on my momma) I didn't see a plate go back to the kitchen that wasn't cleaned. Place is nice and clean and who really cares about the ambiance anyway when you're hungry tf?! The servers know the food is good so they're going to deliver your plate and keep your cup full. Go ahead and tip them 20% anyway

Adrienne ..

Yelp
Nigel does know good food! Feels like a family owned comfort food destination. We enjoyed everything we tried.

Bill C.

Yelp
Some of the best food my family has ever had. The flavors here are amazing. You have to try alittle of it all tBh. Don't sleep on these folks they know how to cook:

Dana T.

Yelp
Run, don't walk to this location! It is smaller than the Ashley Phosphate location. Homey, funky and a little intimate. The food is delicious! Every bit as good as the original Nigel's. I had my favorite for lunch...Whiskey Shrimp. And, of course, I had to take home an order of cornbread. They are located in Tanner Plantation... the second left turn, in a group of shops with a coffeehouse. The area is lovely and a great hidden treasure. Please know that the menu is just slightly limited from the AP menu. But, they still have most of the staples! I will be visiting this location again! PS- It was nice seeing a familiar face working there! She is from The AP location!

Zharia J.

Yelp
I love my neighborhood Nigel's. They always feed me well. The food is always seasoned perfectly and the service is so good. Always feel well taken care of when I dine with them. Everyone I take raves about the food. Make sure you try the Geechie wings. The Geechie chicken sandwich is also a good option but you can't go wrong with their menu.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Never disappoints! I usually get the country fried steak meal with 3 sides. Hard to choose only 3 sides because so many delicious choices. And the nicest staff on top of a great meal!

John K.

Yelp
What more can you say about Nigel's!! The food is awesome. The drinks are great and the staff always rocks! Nigel's is one of my favorite restaurants in Charleston. It always exceeds my expectations!!! BTW. The wings are to die for! Thank you for blessing Charleston with your food!!!

Desire T.

Yelp
Our waiter,Alani, was attentive, food was great, atmosphere was better! First time at this location, will be back again!

Edwin D.

Yelp
Food was VERY good. I had the the country fried steak on a friend's recommendation. I saw the fried chicken on a neighboring table and came back the next day for dinner! It was awesome, I could have had two orders! I shall return!

L T.

Yelp
Honestly this place sucked. The food had no flavor. It was bland, the beans were smoky like the bottom of the pot got burned. Overall a complete waste of money and it's not like it's cheap.

Mary B.

Yelp
The Hanahan location is so great. Just like the other locations. Everything is good. The sides are EVERYTHING. Mac and cheese like my Mom and her family did.. Southern way., yams, collards black eyed peas. Just wonderful.

Maureen G.

Yelp
The food is always hot and delicious. There is something for everyone on the menu. However, definitely start with Geechee wings! The servive is always fast and friendly. The ambiance is wonderful with lots of patrons of all ages talking, laughing, and enjoying their meals. Plus Nigel's is locally owned!

Tom S.

Yelp
Nigel captures the best flavors in everything on the menu! This time I enjoyed the fried shrimp which are the best that I have found in the greater Charleston area! Tried the wings as an appetizer and was not disappointed! Thought about desert but was way too full!

Dani M.

Yelp
Went in for a lunch date with hubby. He had chicken fried steak and 3 sides. He said it was good although he would have liked a little more gravy. I had chicken strips and fries. They were good. Friendly service and didn't have to ask for a refill on drinks, always a plus in my book.

George F.

Yelp
My only complaint was portion size, collard greens where thimble size, fried steak well tiny! corn bread huge and rice and gravy ok, loved the food but pages okra grill is got ya beat and only because they give you what you pay for! I left wanting more (slightly increase portion size and I would come back other wize theres better choices in the low country!

Tom S.

Yelp
Always excellent food! From shrimp that are best in Charleston to Nigel's creations, you will never go wrong!!

LOUIS R.

Yelp
Service was excellent Good Chicken Sandwich and burger for my guest. Suggestion if ordering Shrimp and Grits especially take home !! ask for grits in separate container. congealed soggy grits is the results. excessive gravy not needed. Thought this Nigel's would be more upscale but next stop back to Ladson Hwy 78.

Will S.

Yelp
The fried pork chops are the best I have ever had. As I write this I am ordering them again. I will work my way thru the menu... next time.
