Dream Bangkok

"This outpost of Dream Hotel is a five-minute walk from both the subway and the Skytrain in Bangkok’s central Sukhumvit district. Owner and society page regular Vikram Chatwal calls his New York–based hotel brand Hautel Couture, though the Thai translation feels decidedly more casual than catwalk. Appropriately for a hotel whose name promises heavenly slumber, the emphasis in the 100 sleek white-walled rooms is the custom platform bed, which comes blanketed in layers of allergen-free goose down. A compact gym and a serviceable spa round out the standard amenities here, but ample desks and speedy free Wi-Fi sets the hotel above many bigger and better known competitors in the business sector. Comfort foods like pad thai have been early standouts among the fusion fare at Flava, but the arrival of young chef Daniel Roland Meier promises more refined dishes."

I have been visiting Bangkok since 1992, my favourite place in the world. I'm now lucky enough to live in Thailand and visit Bangkok once, sometimes twice a month, for a 3 or 4 night break. Was recommended to the Night Hotel and have stayed here about 6 times in the past few months. I normally stick to the same hotel if I like it (unless rates for when want to go get silly). First stay was in the Gold Suite, and I absolutely loved it. Very impressed with some of the touches and useability of the room, especially dimmer lighting, numerous charging points, fact shower doesn't flood the floor as it is correctly designed (you'd be amazed how many hotels in Thailand have flooding issues), and many other small touches. The light switches do get a bit confusing though, as there are so many of them ! Air con was quiet and curtains kept the light out. This room has a separate living area, and if I'm being honest, this space was a bit depressing, as nothing much on the walls and the sofa in one end didn't face the tv ... so bad use of space, although not sure what the solution would be. Second stay, I booked the cheapest room as it was only 2 nights. The cheaper rooms are located in building one (where the breakfast is). For the price it was excellent, just a little bit less plush than other rooms, not quite as well apoointed and maybe a bit older. One complaint ... I had a room next to housekeeping area .... why do they have to shout when talking to each other in the corridors ... sound echos, and both mornings I was woken by noise housekeeping outside my room at "too early a time". Breakfasts are good, obviously not 5 star standard, but as good, or slightly better, than most hotels of this class. Seating is comfortable and staff friendly. I'm giving this hotel 5 stars .... I love it. I think it represents good value for money, the check in staff are nearly all the most friendly and welcoming I have ever had in Bangkok (and that's a lot), and that sets you up for a good mood in your stay. I also think this hotel is a bit different or quirky, and I love managements reply to some reviews, as it's refreshing to read the real facts, as some reviewers are clearly rude and ignorant. Just to balance, because a good hotel should always look to improve. I think housekeeping could do better ... issues I've had .... empty used water bottle on table first stay, flooding on floor in bedroom driving me mad (I thought was from bath but couldn't see where it was coming from), turned out housekeeping hadn't closed fridge in the cuoboard properly and water was coming from there. Have had hairs in the bath twice, dirty orange type water in bath once (because not used and should be run through by housekeeping, otherwise water goes funny from the pipes) and sadly worst of all, sheets dirty from a bloodied dead insect with other stains ... I don't think bedbugs ... but something. This shouldn't really happen in a hotel of this class. Lastly, I'm reading a lot of reviews here from guests angry about deposits being kept. I never had an issue until my last stay. My water fell off the side table onto the bed, no cleaning issues as bedding would be cleaned anyway, but the manner in which this was handled was a bit off. He asked me "what is it" .. suggesting I had suffered from a personal accident ... this was embarrassing. I wasn't charged, hopefully because they know I am a regular guest, but reading your other reviews regarding deposits being kept, I think it would be advisable to review the tipping point in which front desk seem to want to justify charging .... it is a hotel and wear and tear in everyday use will happen. As I said, excellent in nearly everything, but housekeeping could be improved and I'm attaching photos of issues to help you guys, not complain and to demonstrate accuracy. Finally, the white tiger in reception is the star of the show .... love it.

This was my second stay at Night hotel at a span of three months. This time I was with my family and we booked two rooms.||I always like Night hotel, specially for the service and smiling faces of their staff members. This time it was not different. Good breakfast, good location, good service ….. ||BUT I would mention one thing which was a constant problem that we faced for the seven days we stayed there. It was the air conditioner. Our room numbers were 710 and 711. The temperature adjustment of air conditioner, specially in room 711 did not work at all. So the room became absolutely freezing. Even if the temperature was turned at 30 degrees, the room still would be freezing. We had to turn off the AC while sleeping at night. On the second night we complained, they send someone to fix, still it did not work. Again we complained, again they send someone, still it was the same. Finally they send another person who changed some parts, still, no better. For the last four nights, we did not bother to complain any more and slept at night keeping the air conditioner turned off, which was quite unpleasant. ||The reception staff were honest in their effort, they tried to solve the issue sincerely. They even sent us a small fruit treat as a way to apologise for the issue which was a nice gesture. What I understand is the air conditioner issue is a complicated engineering problem and the hotel authority needs to fix up this issue by re-hauling from the core. Guests would not enjoy sleeping at night keeping the air conditioning systems off. It would be really sad to see guests losing their interest on this beautiful hotel only because of their faulty air conditioning system. ||I hope the hotel management really takes this matter seriously and consider solving this issue permanently.

This was my second stay at this hotel. While it’s still a fantastic option overall, I found the previous “Dream” branding offered better service. If you’re an American or primarily speak English, communication with the front desk can be quite difficult—there’s almost no chance of being properly understood. I remember Dream’s staff being excellent, with multiple front desk associates available at all times, gave you advice which made a big difference. That said, the location and amenities are very good. Rooms are clean, though besides the hardwood floors, they’re starting to show some wear, bathrooms clean but needs updates (tile grout toilet no vanity) and even the exterior could use renovations. If updates come, expect the prices to rise to Sheraton levels. As it stands, this is more of a clean, no-frills 3 star hotel in my opinion don’t be fooled by booking agency ratings. If you’re looking for concierge-style service and a highly attentive front desk, this may not be the right choice. But for independent travelers—solo guests, couples, or small families—it’s a great fit. Breakfast is excellent for the price and includes a typical egg breakfast, 6–7 Thai dishes, an assortment of pastries, drinks, and an omelet station. My main concern remains communication. In a hotel, especially abroad, you expect at least one staff member to comfortably handle English. Unfortunately, I found that very difficult here and I’m going to be here for a week. Overall, Night Hotel is still a solid choice, and I would stay here again mainly because of its location. It’s just a short walk to Terminal 21, Asoke and Nana stations, and surrounded by plenty of massage places and the street is nice and clean. They have two buildings and a pool at one of the buildings which is a little awkward if you use it. When I went there not a single person was there. Again you can’t near this place for the location/price.

Good hotel. It's nothing extraordinary, but it gets the job done. The bed was firm, and the pillows were softThe bathroom was spacious. There is no shower, only a bathtub. The water pressure was excellent, but it was too strong that the bath shower hand would not stay at the proper levelThe food is good, and the breakfast is very delicious. I wish I had had juices been natural instead of sugary stuff. Also, more variety of food would have been great. The staff are just excellent. Really good people. Staff are amazing

kind and helpful staff, lovely pool, good drinks and very good connected with public transportation. the rooms have somewhat thin walls, so one can hear the neighbours and corridor happenings well, but all in all a good hotel with good price. Gladly again

The location of this hotel is fantastic, close to all the action in Bangkok's Sukhumvit district but a few streets away from the real hustle and bustle. ||The room was spacious enough and to a great standard for the price. Perfect for a city break with friends when you are just passing out after a hectic day/night in Bangkok.||The breakfast was very good. The pool roof top pool a great quiet spot to relax and take a dip before heading out again.||The hotel is split across two buildings on two sides of the street. I stayed in the building that had the pool. Breakfast was across the road. This really wasn't a big deal.||Staff were all very pleasant and attentive.||Overall, a very well done experience for the location and price point.

It was alright. Lovely staff. Everyone was friendly, especially the bell boy. Room had a musty/moldy smell though. Took a little bit of getting used to.||I booked on their website directly where they had an early check-in promotion. When I went to check in, the front desk person didn't honor it and I had to come back at 2pm.||Later that day when I went to go out, the front desk stopped me and gave me a welcome drink coupon since I booked on the website. Would I come back? Probably not.

To great for just one night On first sight the hotel made a modern and newly restored impression, the lobby of both buildings was very fancy. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable though for western sized people a bit short, the bathroom was as clean as the room and the entire hotel. The offering at the breakfast buffet was sufficient and satisfying - bit of Asian food, bit of continental style - enough for starting the day with very concerned & friendly staff. My personal favorite was the pool at the roof top with a nice view over the surrounding area. The reception staff was more than friendly and helpful, especially to be mentioned the arrangement of the airport transport at an unbeatable price ! Solely one comment on the air con which was a bit louder than expected, and it was not always manageable to get rid of the moisture within the room - the bed linen and remaining clothes felt bit wet.. Anyhow, if I would choose to layover in Bangkok again, I will definitely return to Night Hotel due to an amazing value for money !
