12 of the Most Exciting Hotel Openings for 2025 - AFAR
"A socially responsible, surf-forward beachfront resort launching on Rote Island that mirrors a proven model of community investment and cultural support: 21 thatch-roof villas with carved-wood details and private pools, access to a coveted wave break for surfers, and the simultaneous opening of a hospitality academy to provide vocational training for island residents; scheduled for November 2025." - Jennifer Flowers
This should never have been allowed. It is a massive complex and alters the entire feel of the beach and surf break, especially the ugly pool area. When will we learn to weave ourselves into the natural environment with humility and grace? A travesty.

They criminalized local activists for speaking up against beach privatisation. Disgusting. Please reconsider your trip here as you will support neocolonialism.

We used to be able to enjoy this beach, check the surf and walk along. Now there is security everywhere not allowing you to easily access Boa, because of Nihi resort and other big developments.
This place will ruin tourism for Boa. Sad to see such large scale development in rote. I know I won’t come back
I’m sure the locals are also not happy seeing their island get destroyed by rich developers

Massive construction right on the beach, over bearing, over the top and not what Rote Island needs. Already access to the beach & break at Boa is restricted due to the joint. This is another dismal example of why catering for the rich is no good for humanity. Don't they have enough, already? Appalling.

Rich owners have put up security and don’t allow tourists or locals to access the beach anymore. Such a loss, shame on you Nihi resort.

Blocking public access to the beach and surf spot out front. Neocolonialism at its worse

Do not support this joint.

Go back to where you came from. Stop blocking the beach and denying access to other tourists
