Nihombashi Philly Tokyo

It’s been a really long time since I’ve had a cheesesteak this good, not just in Asia but anywhere. If you are in Tokyo and you love cheesesteak this is a must!! Amazing staff with really friendly atmosphere to make you feel welcomed (especially if you are an Eagles fan) the restaurant is decorated with everything that they could find from Philly. I wished I could have ordered more and tried other stuff on the menu but after the cheesesteak and crabfries I was done. Will def be back!

I'm from Philadelphia, and I'd say I'm a cheesesteak Guru..I try all of the spots.... With that being said, I'm always skeptical when I see a "Philly" Cheesesteak on a menu anywhere that's rather distant from Philadelphia. I was in Tokyo two weeks ago and decided to give this place a shot. Not only was I impressed with the local stuff decorating the store and the Septa stuff, well because I'm an engineer with them but I ordered a cheesesteak the way I normally do, fried onions, salt pepper ketchup, American cheese, no wiz.... Was I impressed. ABSOLUTELY. Beyond all expectations, on top of it, the hard part is matching the bread, and the owners wife absolutely nailed it. If you've never been to Philly, I really recommend it, but you want a legit cheese steak, come here, you'll be impressed. I was was disappointed though, I went back on Monday morning at 6:30 AM to watch the game and the Eagles lost the playoff game. It was packed upstairs, downstairs and outside. We were sad. Otherwise 👌🏼👌🏼💯💯

The Good: Let’s start with the positives. Philly Cheese Steaks Chuo is one of those brilliant little hole-in-the-wall places you instantly fall in love with. From the moment you walk in, it feels authentic — the vibe, the graffiti-covered walls (yes, adding our names was part of the fun), and food that is next level. The cheesesteaks were beyond good — messy, indulgent, and exactly what you hope for. The Room for Improvement: Honestly, nothing worth complaining about. It’s small, loud, and unapologetically casual — which is exactly the point. If you’re after white tablecloths, this isn’t your place. Would I Return? Without hesitation. The staff were incredibly accommodating, especially when my son had to duck out for about an hour — they made me feel completely at ease and welcomed the whole time. The Verdict: In conclusion, Philly Cheese Steaks Chuo delivers big flavour, real atmosphere, and genuine hospitality. It feels like a slice of Philly dropped straight into Japan — and it’s an experience as much as it is a meal. A must-visit.

We had such a great time at Philly Tokyo, a gem in Tokyo that feels like home! The owners are husband and wife and truly kind and welcoming people! I love the backstory to this restaurant. The cheesesteaks were incredible and one of the best I’ve had. I also loved all their other Philly menu items like the crab fries, soft pretzels, tomatoe pie and tasty cakes! If you’re from the Philadelphia area, you have to stop by here for a little home away from home!

Fantastic cheesesteak. I used to live in Philly long time ago and tried a few cheesesteaks there (of course). This one is on par, and I would even put it among the better ones. It has a Japanese touch to it (it’s more organized and consistent throughout, I don’t know how to describe it). It’s very rich in umami, but maybe slightly saltier than what I would’ve liked. It’s American beef and everything is homemade. The couple owners are so lovely and kind. Will definitely come again!

Great atmosphere and a really welcoming vibe. Philly Tokyo has a great cheese steak. The sesame seed roll was soft and fresh. It's cozy, stylish, and the whole place is decked out with Eagles and Phillies memorabilia. The owner, his wife, and servers were super friendly. It was great chatting with them. Go Birds 🦅

This place is the best! It might look small at first, but there is additional seating upstairs. We went in the last hour before closing, and they were just as welcoming and friendly as if we were the first customers of the day (they did run out of the soft pretzels at that point, though- guess we have to go back!). The atmosphere is amazing- every surface is covered in all things Philadelphia, the teams and the city. Most of the items were gifted by customers. The food- oh, the food! It's hard to believe the owner lived his whole life here in Nihombashi because you'd swear he was from Philly. The cheese steaks are amazing, so are the fries (which are chunks of potatoes, not typical fry shaped). I don't usually eat onion rings, but they looked really good at the table next to us. We split a cheese steak because they are huge (the beef is flavorful and the hoagie bun is so fresh!) I'm a Steelers fan, but I definitely enjoyed this place with my niece, who is a huge Eagles fan, and I would absolutely come back. It's a must!

A must visit location for anyone from the Philadelphia area. The cheesesteak was quite good for being so far from Philly. The meat and cheese were on point. The bread was a seeded roll but was texturally right. If you’re lucky, they may have Yuengling available. The owner and his family are amazing! Go birds!
