"Enthusiastic staff welcome diners to this tachinomi , a casual pub where there are no chairs, and diners eat and drink at high counters, usually overlooking an open kitchen. The specialty at Saisei Sakaba is cuts of meats and organs that are skewered and then grilled, the accompanying smoke wafting out into the pedestrian street and drawing in customers to the retro-designed shop. Start the evening here and then move onto another izakaya in the area. This part of Shinjuku is packed with small spots for drinks and small bites. Insider tip: Be sure to order the gyū tan , simmered beef tongue."

Ok. So. Your friend says "I want the most authentic local experience" and starts to look up restaurants with a 4.5 or above. You reach over and you smack the phone from their stupid hands. "No!" You exclaim. "You fool! WE MUST HAVE MEAT ON STICKS". So you end up here. And it's incredible. The staff are great, the food is great and you never even had a seat. What a concept. Best place in Shinjuku, get on it. Your friend will accept the cracked screen once they have the pork belly and the steak. Also the lower intestine is surprisingly good and I don't know how to feel about that. I hope this doesn't awaken something in me...

A bar that’s very popular with locals. Tasty innards skewers with such a cool crowd and staff!!! Half-half beers (half light, half dark) were also a new yummy discovery. A new favorite in Tokyo!

Delicious grilled offals parts on a stick, very different textures and flavors, to enjoy with a cold beer. Very fun to stand at the counter by the grill, full of locals and people wanting to have fun. Recommended if you are looking to try something different! Prices per stick range from 150 to 500.

If you like textured food like gizzard and cartilage, then do yourself a favor and come here and get yourself a frosty draft Japanese beer and five assorted mostuyaki skews as a simple sampler. You will be served teppo skew, but, again, if you like that gizzard, cartilage, and chicken skin skew texture shut up and try it. They do serve them with a side of mustard but you better off using the sansho pepper shaker and sauce placed in front of you. Came here at 5pm so not packed and had a pretty chilled time.

Amazing Amazing place. Noisy, small, filled with locals. FOOD IS B-B-B-BOMB. just order one of everything on the menu and start from there. DONT MISS WHEN IN TOKYO P.S. Do note this is not Yakitori. They do not serve chicken. It's Horumonyaki (Grilled Beef and Pork Offals)

We told them we were cold even though there were tables that were open and warmer they didn’t let us in. I think they were not very nice about it. Other than a bit expensive for being a standing place.
