Lagos Is Africa's Most Vibrant City Right Now — Here's How to Visit

"The country’s largest privately owned gallery, packed wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling with an extraordinarily diverse and loosely curated collection spanning paintings, sketches, sculptures, and mixed media. Visitors encounter everything from replicas of the rarely circulated kobo coin to vibrant portraits of everyday life in traditional dress, monochrome studies, and exuberantly colored pieces; the overall effect is abundant, celebratory, and a little overwhelming in the best way." - Shirley Nwangwa

"Looking to bask in the work of Nigerian and international artists while in Lagos for Lagos Fashion Week? Then look no further than Nike Art Gallery. Located in a five-story tall building in Lekki, a suburban area on Lagos Island, it features thousands of artworks, making it one of the largest gallery collections in West Africa. It is a favorite in Lagos for art lovers and those seeking a place to meet fellow enthusiasts."

A vibrant art gallery brimming with rich, captivating pieces that showcase pure talent from every corner of Nigeria. Each work of art speaks to you, drawing you in with its depth and beauty. The collection is nothing short of amazing—therapeutic, healing, and inspiring. A perfect weekend escape for the soul.

A true cultural gem! Nike Art Gallery is an absolute must-visit for anyone interested in Nigerian art and heritage. The moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with vibrant colors, intricate artworks, and warm hospitality. The collection is massive—ranging from paintings and sculptures to textiles and beadwork—each piece telling a powerful story. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the art, and they’re happy to share insights about the artists and their work. I especially appreciated how the gallery supports local artists and promotes traditional Nigerian craftsmanship in a modern setting. It’s not just a gallery—it feels like a celebration of African creativity and soul. Highly recommended for tourists, art lovers, and even casual visitors who just want to explore something beautiful and inspiring.

Very beautiful artworks. Indeed Nigerian artists are talented. 25,000 artworks in a location. This is one tourist attraction anyone coming to Lagos should visit.

The Nike Art Gallery is a promise kept and more. Art, contemporary ✅, Art historical ✅, art locally sourced ✅, international/global art✅✅, Dr. Nike is a simple lady with a golden heart. She's motherly, kind and that shows in how she welcomes all. She's such a delight. To visit the gallery as a group, you will pay a token however as a couple, (2) is absolutely free. Imagine walking through the gallery of canvas paintings, you can't rush in and race out. It's a full therapy of colours and more. As you can see, the pictures show what recycled art is about. Drive now to Nike Art Gallery for your experience of colours, brushes and canvases. 💞💯

A potentially nice art gallery that misses the point of how to sell local art. Pricing is high and for art-lovers only, but display of the art is like a housed local flee market. The paintings are cheaply stuck together, piled up, left to rust. It's not how expensive (and beautiful) art should be marketed. Feels more like a supermarket than an art gallery... If you want a more upscale and enjoyable visit, heat to the Art Gallery Café instead...

This gallery is lovely. Made up of 4 floors of mostly canvas art pieces with some sculptures/figurines. Timothy welcomed us to the gallery and informed us of the things available on offer (painting your own artwork with guidance and buying pieces in the gallery). Be ready to climb stairs as I was not made aware of a lift.

Nike art gallery The art gallery is a big one with up to 3 floors. There are a lot of varieties of art works. They have over 25000 artworks. A tour guide is available to give you a tour. You can have a painting session at the end of your visit (Not for free, though). It was really lovely there. Going with a tour guide made it a lot more interesting. But I hate the fact the some of the paintings in the last floor are duty making them look abandoned. Also I believe it is better for them to organize the art works in sections so that it would be easy to find them

My experience was so emotional, there were lots of artistic expression and freedom that left me soaked in awe of its beauty. It’s a place that would leave a great impression on you.
