It's really cozy, and has a great community vibe. It's close to the station. The surrounding nature is serene, I enjoyed sitting outside and listening to the birds. I slept in the dormitory and it was really comfortable, the curtains also provided a nice sense of privacy. The staff were amazing and I loved the scrambled egg with toast and sausage. Overall an amazing experience I would recommend to anyone visiting Nikkou.

Nikko park lodge was the highlight of my Japan trip, it's in a perfect location in the mountains and still walking distance from town. The beds are super cosy with warm electric blankets and the overall facilities are perfect if you are looking for a peaceful place to rest after a long day exploring. The owners here are super friendly and helpful and they offer delicious meals for dinner and breakfast with free coffee and tea. Fantastic place to stay for anyone!

Warm and cozy hostel, owners were nice and really helpful!! Really no complaints on service :) There is 1 morning/evening shuttle service to and fro town, although the timing is abit off for me (9am and 5pm). There is only 1 shared shower, so might need to wait awhile. Living room is nice place to chit chat and hang out. The most important factor for me was the convenience or rather location, which I found lacking here. If you want easy access to shuttle buses, shops or the train station, would be best to stay nearer town, especially since the hostel is a good 15 minutes walk away.

Nikko Park Lodge and Ken are really welcoming hosts! I wasn’t able to stay at the lodge, but I stopped over for dinner a number of times. The chef serves up delicious meals at good prices. Also, you can enjoy drinks in front of the warm fire. It is a good idea to make a reservation in advance. The lodge is right in the middle of nature, with a beautiful stream and waterfalls, just a few minutes away. I highly recommend staying there or stopping for a meal.

Had a lovely time staying three nights here. Beds were comfy and the hosts were so nice. It was the perfect spot to stay for a great few days hiking in beautiful Nikko. It’s a little out of the way - around a 15 minute walk from the station - but the walk was so nice that it didn’t make a difference (plus the fact that they run a shuttle to and from the station). Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a homely and good value base for exploring the incredible park.

Had a lovely time staying 1 night here. Be aware the hostel is located around 20min walk from the train station, which I absolutely loved because it was surrounded by beautiful forest, but if you are not a big walker or have a lot of luggage it might be a bit far. I also took a taxi from the train station and it cost 700 yen. The lady who ran it was super lovely and the place was very clean. There is an awesome shower room as well with a stone tub which I never used but it looked cool. I stayed in the mixed dorm and had a very positive experience, there are lockers to lock up your personal items but everyone I met was super nice and respectful. I chose it for the price and location and was pleasantly surprised :).

The beds were comfy and the whole property had a really cosy vibe. Heated blankets and towels were provided. A few of the facilities were a bit dated and in dire need of renovations. It felt like the men's toilet would fall through the floor at any second. The shower room was a bit strange too, being an open communal style wash room. Although I'm not sure if they actually use it like that(?) There was free coffee and on my last day I found out that there was a free shuttle to town each morning. The location was nice and chill but about a 25-30 minute walk to get anywhere.

During my solo trip/adventure to Nikko last winter of 2008, stayed at Nikko Park Lodge. The place is a little bit far from the station going to the mountain but I feel in love with the place the moment I saw it. I stayed in a female dorm style room and a girl from Australia was there when I arrived but I was not able to mingle with them sine I was so tired from my adventure that day. The next day, I woke up really early and took a long walk around the area since breakfast was not yet ready. The place was really homey, it was unfortunate though that I have to leave early to continue my adventure in Nikko. Will i stay there again? Definitely.
