It was really our own doing that we had not booked any hotels way before our stay, so many places were fully booked and we didn't have much choices left. But what made me made this booking was it mentioned parking is available. They should say parking is LIMITED, to about 6 cars or so. The front desk was not apologetic about it, I mean, it's not his fault as well, but he does not need to be all agitated and fierce as well. The rooms are old, the passageway is full or cobwebs, careful if you are tall, you don't want to walk right into one on the low ceiling. Nikko would have been perfect had we chose a different accommodation, which we saw when we were here.

At arrival the service was okay. The building itself is old and dated and had a weird smell to it. The room was big in size but had an awful lingering spice smell. There was a hole in the ceiling. The towels also smelled like spicy food. The view and location however was beautiful and convenient. You can see they don’t invest enough in their hotel in looks and maintenance. Easy for a 1 night stay for quick convenience. Not recommended for long stay.

Convenient place just across Tobu Nikko station. For one night we had all we needed in our twin room, which was like a studio: private bathroom, kitchen corner with microwave, kettle, sink and fridge (no kitchen amenities), balcony with view. Heating and heated blanket did their job in the cold night. There’s a Supermarket and a Laundry service close by.The hotel needs for sure some maintenance and insulation can be improved as it was very cold. The only way to get to upper floors is by elevator, as I tried using the stairs but they were blocked by piles of sheets, which is not ideal as there should be emergency exits! Not really a budget accommodation compared to other places I stayed in Japan and for the standard offered.

Well, we read bad reviews about this place after booking and before arriving, and thought "well it can't be that bad". Wow , we're we wrong. We booked a 4 bed dorm and we're placed in an 18 bed dorm. My brother in law booked a 14 bed dorm and was put in the bed opposite us. The entire place feels like a refugee camp. That "dorm" is just a complete open space, the door is never locked, any homeless person can walk in off the street and then just find themselves in your bed. We were lucky enough to catch the reception building open when we went to check in, that was the only time we ever saw it open. The temperatures in the room were absolutely Baltic. Everyone staying there were sat shivering with our hoods up and coats on, and the air conditioning unit pumping out heat was not enough for such a large space. Everyone went to bed fully clothed very early in the night because we could not stand the cold and the unit kept cutting out. Our only means of contact with the hotel was through Agoda, we messaged to say weve been put in a 18 bed not a 4 bed, and then again to tell them about the freezing conditions of the room and there was never any response. Another guest contacted them through Air BnB also to complain that the unit was cutting out and they said they'd come take a look, and never showed up. I contacted Agoda to complain about our stay and provided the evidence to show them that it was 18 beds and the screenshots of us attempting to contact the hotel, but Nikko Park Lodge rejected the complaint and said we never contacted them and that there were 4 beds on one side and 14 on the other. It was clearly just one entire room. It's complete misrepresentation on the hotels part, there was absolutely no seperation at all for these "dorms". Apparently we booked the "deluxe" dorm.. I hate to think of the horrendous conditions that might've been in the "standard" dorm. I am never a person to complain about a hostel, I've been staying in them for 8 years with varying conditions including sharing a bed with a feral cat with fleas in Cambodia, but by god this was the absolute worst place I have ever stayed in my life. The people running this place could not care less about anything except your money. As I say, refugee camp vibes. You may think ah it's the cheapest option in Nikko it's fine for 2 nights, trust me, if you know what's good for you just stay away.

Terrible experience. We got a dubble bed and they gave us only a single for 2 people and when we asked if it was our bed he said yes... he pointed up stairs for us to stay. But he ment the top bunk so we went up stairs like his instructions. And when we went out we left some stuff out and they took it. I only noticed my slides but later on found out they took a few other things. Communication was poor and the owners need to specify what room as he got very annoyed that we were up there. When he told us it was up stairs..

Cramped bathroom and small room in an outdated hotel, but economically priced compared to other nearby places. Limited parking at the hotel, but more parking is available three blocks away.

It was okay, not the best, but not the worse. They let us do late check-in (at 22:00, normally closes at 18:00) and also took care of our bags after we checked out.

I mistook my booking. The boss came for me and gently searched a solution for me before I find out I canceled this hotel before. He didn’t angry and just continue to help me in case of I can’t go to another hotel. This is true hospitality mind. Thank you so much and sorry.

Yelp
The one good thing about this hotel is the location. It's right off the train station and right in front of the bus terminal and so is super convenient for a visit to Nikko. The positives ends there. The impressions start from the street. It looks like a run down cafe and then you realize that it is a run down cafe. Then, the man at reception was oddly unfriendly. When you're lead into the actual hotel, it's a dirty old apartment complex above that cafe. The first thing that struck me when I opened the door was that, even though it's a non-smoking property, the place smelled like cigarette smoke. I opened all the windows for hours and couldn't get rid of the smell. It's seeped into the furniture. The duvets of the beds stink. Like they reek. I removed them and had to wash my hands. The place is incredibly shabby and uncomfortable and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Yelp
Okay hotel. Large clean room with two beds. The bed was definitely one of the hardest/firmest mattresses I've ever slept on. Woke up after 7 hours with a sore but not bad back. Small but clean bathroom. Tiny kitchenette with water kettle, and a large fridge/freezer. Strangely, no utensils, plates, mugs. Glad I'd read the TripAdvisor reviews so we knew to bring our own coffee mugs. Free parking for five cars. And there's an elevator. Yen 7840 per night seems reasonable. There are a lot of B&Bs and hotels in Nikko. Not sure why they didn't show up when I was searching. I think I'd try a different place if we return to Nikko in the future
