Stayed here for 1 night, without a doubt the best feature of this hotel is its location. It’s directly opposite of JR Nikko station and 2 mins walk to Tobu Nikko station. Rooms are getting bit old but they do job really well and was quite spacious. The onsen was amazing and a major selling point. Staff really nice and friendly especially when it came to holding bags. There’s some great vending machines here. My only minor criticism about the hotel was the breakfast. Wasn’t really a fan of it and there wasn’t much meat options available.

The main strength of this hotel is its location. Right next to the train station and the bus stops is really convenient for getting around. The rest of the hotel is disappointing, and you can feel its age. Everything is run down with stains on the floor and a weird smell in the lobby and also our room. While the onsen is nice, there's a lot of mould on the walls and ceiling. The breakfast was a big disappointment with few selections and very tight opening hours (closes at 9 am). Overall I can only recommend the hotel for its central location and wouldn't stay there more than 1 night (we did 2 and regretted it).

Location and hospitality from the staff are the stand outs for this hotel. 5 min walk from Tobu-Nikko station and just opposite JR Nikko station. Lots of dining options around so not to worry but the nearest convenience store is actually not that near. For my stay, it came with free breakfast every day though I only had it for one day because I wanted to try out other breakfast/ coffee places in Nikko. There’s onsen in the hotel, both indoor and outdoor so this is also a plus point. However, the hotel itself is a bit tired and desperately needs a renovation.

I stayed here during August 2024. It's a good stay. The breakfast is not too bad and staff is friendly. The room is quite big compared to what I have usually saw in Japan tbh. Though the room seem kinda not maintained too well? To clarify, the room is still ok, it's not like there are places broken or what not, what I wanna mentioned here is the peephole at the door, it is somehow looks broken and a old gum was sticking there. The public bath is working when I was there, and the hot springs is also open. It's so nice to bath in it after the all the hiking and sightseeing in Nikko.

Every time I visit Nikko, I choose to stay at this hotel due to its excellent location near the JR train station, which means minimal luggage hauling, and its proximity to the Tobu bus station making sightseeing very convenient. The hotel offers comfortable accommodations, including a relaxing hot spring bath. Previously, I was always impressed by their high-quality breakfast buffet, which offered a wonderful variety of options that provided enough energy for a full day of exploring Nikko's attractions. However, during my recent two-night stay, I was quite disappointed with the breakfast service. The dining room now only serves small pieces of bread with butter and jam, boiled eggs, vegetable soup, tiny portions of salad, and extremely thin slices of ham. This is drastically different from my previous visits, where they offered fried eggs, sausages, ham, curry rice, an impressive salad bar, miso soup, and bread - all of which were appetizing and worth trying. There was also a noticeable reduction in staff. While I understand hotels may face operational challenges, my friend and I paid full price for both accommodation and breakfast, and we expected value commensurate with our payment. I sincerely hope the hotel will quickly return to providing the excellent service that was once their selling point. If the current situation continues, it might be better to offer room-only options without breakfast included. Maintaining this reduced service level could disappoint loyal, returning customers and potentially lose their patronage. I have attached photos comparing breakfasts from my previous stay with this recent visit to illustrate the significant change in quality. I genuinely hope you can return to your previous standards soon. Sincerely,

Check in was smooth and fast. Room comfortable. Car parking was affordable and easy. Breakfast was simple but satisfactory. Housekeeping was great. Front office staff helpful. Amenities were available. Happy stay.

We were back in Japan this year. It was our third time in Nikko. We have stayed at the Nikko Station Hotel Classic three times so far, but the third time will be the last time.||The hotel has a nice public bath and the staff are also very friendly (I've only ever experienced this in Japan!).||But there were three things that were really annoying to us:||1. The cleanliness in the hotel, we had cobwebs in the room and the smell in the bathroom was very strong like plastic, like the smell of an old plastic curtain.||2. the carpets in the hall were terrible.||3. Breakfast is the bare minimum, there is almost nothing to choose from. We preferred to go out to eat and will be avoiding the hotel in the future.

This hotel is a hard pass--save your money and make Nikko a day trip from Tokyo instead. The hotel is conveniently located, and staff are friendly. However, building and rooms are aged and smell terrible, with carpet stains everywhere. Breakfast was slim pickings: toast, boiled eggs, pieces of ham and watered down coffee. I do not understand the high ratings, it is not worth the money.
