Nikos Greek Gyros

They are an absolute hidden gem in Abilene. I’ve never been to a more affordable place in terms of food:cost was such high-quality food. I moved out to Abilene a couple years ago and anytime I go back to visit, it’s a priority that I go here. I always get the gyro sub me and oh my gosh– it’ll feed me for two meals. Every single ingredient is absolutely delicious and their fries are always so fresh and perfectly seasoned. And their desserts are the best. And I mean every single dessert. I just had their Italian rum cake and now I want to make a trip to Abilene just to have their food again right now. Also, they’re the nicest folks ever and it hardly takes any time for them to get your food ready. They’ve got plenty of seating room and has a cute and clean area with tables and booths to sit at. The gyro sub combo with fries and a drink or less than $13. I hardly ever make reviews, but I just absolutely have to for them because I feel like I’m gatekeeping this hidden gem by not making it publicly known how great they are.

Quaint atmosphere and delicious food ready in good time. I wasn't initially intending to visit this restaurant but after a few other places were either closed or had an extensive wait I stumbled Nikos. Turned out to be quite fortunate, I haven't had good Greek food in Texas since I moved away from San Antonio with John the Greek's. The gyro's were delicious, well seasoned food, soft pita, and delicious tzatziki sauce. It was prepared fresh and the wait was brief. I loved that you can see the gyros/diners in the front, reminds me of good street food. Always worth noting, I used the restroom while I was there and it was extremely clean.

Make sure you get here before the meat on the rotisserie has hardened and dried out. Otherwise you’ll be knocking your teeth out crunching on your gyro. When I pointed it out to Niko he agreed with me: yes the meat has dried out because it’s been on the stick so long. In a proper Greek restaurant they shave the meat off the stick before it becomes dried and hardened. There was no seasoning/flavor to the chicken either.

Such fast wonderful service. The food is so good, you could cry. The gyro was the best I've had in the world, and I've been around the world. Such flavor, sauces, veggies, amazing. Fries were seasoned and perfect. I tried three dessert cakes, marvelous. And they had blue powerade/Gatorade so I was set. This has to be everyone's favorite spot.

The gyros are delicious, the pita bread is warm and soft, but I have to tell you, that is not tzatziki sauce. I love tzatziki sauce, its one of the reasons I eat at Greek places but this is just not it.

Stopped by randomly while passing through on a trip. My gyro tasted great and they did not skimp on the meat! Definitely get your moneys worth.

Nikkos was really good. The portion was huge for the sub. The prices are well worth the meal. They have good deals for meals. The veggies tasted and looked fresh. Everything tasted amazing. The counter lady was very nice. The place was clean as well. Great experience and great food. Tasted and felt like I was at home. Will be back again.

Maaaaaannn! These supreme gyros will make ya tongue slap ya eyeballs!!! And the owners are super friendly! Classic Greek colors and atmosphere. Clean restrooms! It's one of the only gyro to get in west Texas with superb tastiness!

Yummy, quick, clean, and friendly. Don't miss the excellent dolmas. Delicate and flavorful. Gyros salad is for when you can't decide between a Greek salad and gyros and is so well done. The donor chicken is also good, but I liked the gyros more. Great tzaziki too. Large potions.

As always amazing. I was craving Gyros and went in to get some for dinner. Didn't eat it till the next day but it was still good. The service was fast.

Went there today for take out. Got home and the Gyro had so much meat, which is great, however had very little taziki it was so dry! Now I need to go buy something to eat it with.. I wish I had asked for extra, very disappointed. The men were very friendly and it was clean.

Stopped into Niko's for lunch while passing through. Yelp never disappoints and when you're literally passing through, Yelp ensures you never eat poorly. We both ordered the Supreme Gyros. Fabulous and massively overstuffed. I don't mind eating 1/3 of it with a fork until there's enough room to actually hold the gyro. Great flavors, laid back staff. Perfect lunch on a random Tuesday.

Great healthy Greek food 5 minutes off the highway. Plates are generous portions- we had the chicken and my Dad and I could have easily split it. Owner and staff were nice, overall a great alternative to fast food road fare.

Best gyro meat I've ever had...beef lamb mix or chicken.....even beats Fort Worth. The gyros are of course amazing, but the Chicken doner salad is my fave. But, everything is great here! Plus the owners are awesome people!!!

Service was wonderful but the meat was incredibly dry. We heard they were great but it seems like they've changed management or something because it isn't living up to it's reputation

We ate at Niko's for the first time today and, WOW! , were we ever impressed! My wife had the regular gyro and I had the deluxe gyro. Neither of us could finish our meal because they were that generous. Delicious! The meat was melt in your mouth tender and the veggies perfectly done. The restaurant is in a little strip mall tucked away on a back street behind the mall but was easy to find and get to in spite of current road construction. At one pm it was pretty busy but service was very fast and friendly. Highly recommend! We'll be back!

We ordered the standard and deluxe gyro sandwiches. They were generous with their portions and so flavorful! Quickly prepared. We can't comment on the ambiance as we took our order to go. The atmosphere is basic cafe style however.

I love nikos! The owner is awesome and greets everybody with a smile! I never can finish my plate cuz they don't skimp on servings! Price is fair and I'm glad we have em in Abilene! Give em a try!

We looked up restaurants close to us while staying in Abilene overnight. Niko's showed up and we decided to try it. Wow! The gyros were so, so good! They were stuffed with so much meat and tomatoes and onions and delicious sauce. We highly recommend Niko's for a fantastic meal.

Love, love, love Niko's!! I eat there every time I go to Abilene. Service is always fast. Restaurant is always clean. Gyro is big enough for two meals, just remember to get extra pita bread.

absolutely delicious gyro omg i am from out of town, i normally go to a gyro place hundreds of miles away. i was NOT expecting the gyros to be so big!! i ordered 3 because i am used to my gyro guy, i literally could only eat the one. now i have two extra gyros. what a problem to have! the meat was delicious and it was absolutely spilling out of this gyro. and the sauce. and the bread. i also got fries and those were delicious. the prices were completely fair considering the amount of food i got. so sad i have to leave this spot behind when i go home. you guys here in Abilene are lucky!!!

We order gyro meat by the lb from here for take out. The meat is great but the tzatziki sauce could use some work. I believe they make it in house so it's possible I just tried it on an off day.

We really like Niko's and stop here anytime we can when passing through Abilene. Their chicken is good and so is there Gyro plate. They have topo Chico in a bottle too. I hope to try their desserts next time, but these last few times I was too full to try. Oh! I forgot to say they have the fluffiest pita. We never leave any behind.

First off, the size of their gyro's is huge. The meat is tender and delicious. The fries are tasty and the atmosphere is nice and very friendly. This is my go to gyro place from now on!

My co-worker has bought this for me on several occasions for lunch.. It's definitely not the best Greek restaurant I have had, it doesn't seem authentic to me but anyways, on to the review I always get the Doner Kebab Chicken and every time the chicken is always dry and charred! I don't mind the charred, that actually adds flavor but its like they use chicken breast or something and the chicken is so dry.. When you go inside the restaurant they have the meats spinning on the machine and what not portraying the "look" of authenticity, but I get this weird feeling it isn't "allegedly".. I've been overseas and had chicken spinning on the machine and its so flavorful and moist.. Here? Nah, no flavor in there chicken.. The ingredients are always fresh, and the tzatziki sauce is just ok If you want a lunch here in this area other than fast food, then this would be a decent spot to try.. It's not the greatest but here, choices are limited! I'm not going out of my way to get this, but if my co-worker goes? Sure

The food and service are top notch and if you haven't ever tried one of the gyros try it you will not be disappointed of hungry it's amazing and huge

This has been our go to lunch spot when we are in town for several years now. We make a special trip to the south side just for our fix. No more greasy, wimpy burgers. The Gyro Supreme is huge, healthy and delicious. Hubby manages to eat all his, I have lunch for tomorrow too. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. They are always busy, cleaning if all customers are content.

As soon as you enter, you can sense the tobacco smell that supersedes the Mediterranean species this place pretends to offer to its customers. A rude caucasian cashier referred to shawarmas and gyros as the same food but from different countries, "they all are the same," she said with a perfunctory southern accent. I ordered two chicken gyros and was disappointed when I discovered they did not put the sauce in the gyro. It was the driest chicken I have ever had. The food was awful, and the service worst.

The food was tasty. The portions were large. The service was lackluster. I'm not expecting much...but the service could have been better. If you are looking for "authentic" Greek, this is not the place. Black olives and green olives are not Greek. Calamata olives are...and there were a couple of those thrown in there for good measure, but that was not the bulk of what was on the plate. The place was good and tasty. Food was well prepared overall. I'll be back if I am in town!

.Closed on Mondays. Its not the most authentic, fine Greek establishment I've been in so dont expect that. At under $10 for a gyro with fries and a drink why would you?? Its geared more towards pleasing a large, hungry working crowd. Grab a big ol gyro and go type thing. Quality is average and portions are large. Its a good value. I highly recommend their gyro plate. Nikos has remained CONSISTENT for such a long period of time. They've never dramatically raised prices as most restaurants do after a while... the quality of the ingredients hasn't changed.. no drastic changes to hours... plus the owner is both hardworking and friendly. I believe these are the reasons why this place has been so successful.

Great food very clean place. More food than a senior like me can eat. Friendly and helpful staff, keeps place clean. Will be back, this our second visit.

Not a lot of options, but what's available is delicious. I'd like to see more pearled cous-cous or a variety of hummus, but I'm not complaining. Where else can you get falafel around here?

The very first time I came here I got the chicken gyro because I was scared to try lamb. My husband got the lamb. My chicken was dry so I tried a piece of his lamb and fell in love. The lunch special is always enough for lunch and I always have leftovers. Try the hot sauce

I visit Abilene often and Niko's has become one of my favorite spots! The gyro special is fantastic quality and portion at a great price! Great for lunch with colleagues or friends.

So good taste and reasonable price ! Highly recommended restaurant. Even though the restaurant was closing soon, customers were constantly entering the store.

I am so excited to have found a Greek Resturant in the area. Good sized portions and excellent flavor. I don't live in town, but I will certainly make it a point to stop here between trips from Dallas to Midland.
