That is a beautiful place! You can see all of the city of Herakleion on top. The downside is that it could use some tender loving care. It needs cleaning and the greenery needs some water.

Nice place to feel free in the middle of the town. The photos depicts the view on top of the city. The grave of the famous Cretan writer alongside the grave of his wife. Free entrance for all.

Looking for a contemplative space to meditate on the human condition? Well step right in for a dose of introspection. “I hope for nothing. I fear nothing. I am free.” If you’re inclined to understand the great man’s words take a seat in this leafy fortress top. Look out towards the open sea, let your mind wander over this city’s profoundly ugly cityscape and get the answers you seek. If his name or his work mean nothing to you, avoid this place. But if you’re curious, read his words. He truly was one of the greats. P.S. Don’t let the cross fool you, the man was a spiritual atheist, to put it mildly.

Visited Nikos Kazantzakis's grave to pay my respects, the legendary author of Zorba the Greek, which I bought years ago but still haven’t read (Guess it’s time to dive in). The view from the graveyard was stunning, I could see the sea and the village of Heraklion. It was worth visiting, even if you haven’t read his book yet.

As a big fan of Nikos Kazantzakis and "Zorba the Greek", I was dreaming of visiting Crete and his graveyard. Definitely recommend to go to the graveyard even if you're not a fan, but for the view and the plants. Amazing panoramic view of Heraklion.

Great view of the city of heraklion, and great pleace to chill. Think of it as a memorial place in combination with a green little garden. Many dog walkers love this place, so you will be seeing many four leged friends. Definitely a place worth visiting (for tourists and locals)
