The old saying about not exploring your own backyard is no truer than for this place. We've lived 8 kms from this cafe for 40years and never visited. More fool us. What a lovely place. Quirky, certainly, on the banks of the creek, situated in a huge old factory, so much worth visiting, if only for the great coffee and superb food. Ground Control coffee is always great, and so it is here. The food is simple but done exceptionally well. Quality ingredients are treated with respect and prepared with care, attention to detail, and by a chef who loves what they do. The two ladies behind the counter were extremely friendly and efficient, and treated their customers with respect and grace. The smoked salmon and boiled egg baguette sounded unusual enough for me to satisfy my inquisitive tastebuds, and I wasn't disappointed. It was delicious. The roast pumpkin and haloumi focacia was also tasty and filling and the little addition of salad was also super delicious. The side of chips was welcome with thick cut, possibly even fresh, skin on potatoes seasoned perfectly. They had been overlooked from the order, but once notified, they arrived post haste. The dirty chai was exceptional, and the pot of chai on soy also good. Such a pleasant place to relax on a Sunday for lunch.
