Where to Eat on the Russian River - AFAR

"Housed inside a former bank as part of a small-batch collective next to old vaults, this ice cream parlor serves inventive flavors like Lavender Honeycomb and Rhubarb Crisp and offers a sunny front stoop for snacking; an attached petite wine shop stocks an excellent selection from local vineyards." - Jennifer Maerz, Jessie Beck

Google
Nimble & Finn’s is more than just an ice cream shop—it’s an experience. Located inside a beautifully restored old bank in downtown Guerneville, the setting is as unique and memorable as the ice cream itself. The vintage architecture gives it character, and the welcoming, relaxed vibe makes it a perfect stop on a warm day. The ice cream is handmade in small batches, with fresh ingredients and a creative lineup of seasonal flavors that rotate regularly. You can taste the care in every scoop. On our visit, the options were both inventive and delicious—and the ice cream sandwiches looked absolutely incredible (I’m already planning a return trip to try one). And then there’s the smell. The warm, sweet aroma of freshly made waffle cones hits you as soon as you walk in, adding the perfect finishing touch to an already great experience. If you’re anywhere near Guerneville, Nimble & Finn’s is definitely worth the stop. Come for the ice cream, stay for the atmosphere.

Enjoy good home made ice cream with some interesting flavours - lavender honeycomb, passion fruit with caramel, rose water cardamom plus the usual chocolate and vanilla flavours. Value for money if you opt for the sampler 8 scoops at $18.50 which we did for 4 of us! Yummy! Ice cream shop is in a beautiful old bank building.

Google
Our family stopped in tonight and LOVED it! We came to town specifically for their ice cream because it was recommended to us, and it did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and let me taste more than a couple flavors... The rosemary peach was my favorite. The kumquat one was also extras delicious - I would definitely suggest trying it. They also had brown butter cookies (and take home cookie dough!) that I really wish we had purchased. Their shop is inside an old bank and was really pretty inside. They also share part of their space with a lovely the

Stopped by after a hike in the redwoods. Cute little place but no public restroom made it a little inconvenient for those that needed to use the bathroom. Had the peanut butter fudge and my kids had the cookies and cream. We were able to accommodate a large group of us and the staff was really friendly. Would come back again to try something else when I’m back in the area.

Google
my group stopped in after a day on the river and i’m so glad that we did. since we had so many folks we tried almost every flavor before ordering: lavender honey comb, whiskey butterscotch, cafe cubano, and bourbon plum were all heavy contenders. i couldn’t choose which one i wanted and luckily off menu you’re able to get a split scoop of two different flavors. my choice: lavender honeycomb and bourbon plum would i go back? ABSOLUTELY

Stellar flavors, lovely staff and atmosphere! If you are in Guernville for dining, shopping, or tourism, this is a must for dessert!

Google
𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝟓 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬. I’ve been known to give five stars to places that win off of aura alone and this place is no different! And ice cream store inside of a bank??? How could I say no? It also helps that the flavors here are incredible and pack a lot of flavor. Unfortunately, the seating isn’t that great inside of the store especially if it’s packed – but I came for ice cream and ice cream is what I got. I had the lavender honeycomb ice cream and I cannot be more happy with the decision I made.

Google
Super cute place, love how they embrace the setup of the antique bank, super creative and fun ice cream variety, but ice creams are a hit or miss for me, once I had a passion fruit that was super delicious, creamy and well executed other times the execution is not as nice, can be more icy than creamy(not talking about the sorbets of course). But everything tastes good, I'm just a texture guy, if my ice cream is not creamy it is a turn off. They also have a nicely curated wine shop within. But overall a must stop for visitors.

Yelp
This was a great place for dessert after dinner. We each ordered a chocolate chip cookie, which was good. Someone in our group ordered a scoop of the lavender and honeycomb flavored ice cream. I give this place a 5 for the flavors being true to their names. We also sampled some other flavors as well. It's an old bank, which we were able to walk into the safe. I thought that was cool. The staff was really helpful and sweet. Street parking is available. We walked from where we had dinner, so it was a short distance.

Yelp
Super popular place in the small Guerneville downtown. Was a little frustrated that a family of like 15 people kept letting later arriving people cut in line in front of us, but their rudeness is no fault of the ice cream shop. Staff was very friendly. Bourbon Chocolate Pretzel w/ Hot Fudge & Honeycomb: Wow, this was really good! I suppose I deserve some credit for putting this winning combination together, but it's mainly on the ice cream shop for offering such a great array of components. Loved the sweet bourbon tang in the ice cream base contrasted by the crunchy chocolate covered pretzel pieces. The honeycomb gave even more crunch; seemed to be made inhouse. This is really great with ice cream, not sure why more places don't use it. And then of course the hot fudge and whipped cream is classic.
google avatar

Helena L.

Yelp
tldr cute local ice cream shop serving up local small batch ice cream in a trendy but historic setting they had a variety of classic and unique flavor combinations. i ordered the honey rose cardamom flavor that was reminiscent of a chia latte. the spice flavor wasn't too crazy strong and not overly sweet which is great. the ice cream is a bit on the icy-er side of small batch ice cream which i didn't mind at all - i usually prefer a more creamy consistency. overall very tasty - staff was friendly and the location is really cute historical bank building. also note they don't have a public restroom! food 4/5 service 4/5 ambiance 5/5 value 3/5

Yelp
Might have just found one of my new top 3 favorite ice cream spots! Omg the ice cream flavors here were fantastic. We went here at the recommendation of a friend and I'm soooo glad I listened to her. The server who helped us was very sweet as we asked to sample a few different flavors and didn't make us feel rushed at all with the line behind us. Inside there was only one table that I saw and they also had some apparel and snacks on sale too especially if you're a fan and want to take stuff home with you. Also this place is street parking only so keep that in mind if you're coming with a group. But this place certainly hit the spot after spending a day in the sun canoeing!

Yelp
I have visited many many times and am always so excited to stop here and try something new. This building is very unique because it's in the old Guerneville bank. The vault is open for you to walk into and they even have old lock box keys. The ice cream flavors are always so unique and well worth a try! 10/10 Earl Grey blackberry with a waffle bowl - the earl grey ice cream is to die for! So flavorful and balanced with the blackberry. The waffle bowls/cones are house made with brown butter. They always come out fresh and taste amazing, perfectly sweet. Nimble and Fins is always a must stop while in Guerneville!!

Yelp
As my girlfriend said "this is by far the creamiest ice cream I've ever had" and she's not wrong. A local establishment amongst a plethora of bars and restaurants that line the Main Street of guerneville, we wanted to get dessert before dinner, and Nimble and Finn's hit the spot. We got the famous honey lavender and blueberry matcha and the white and black chocolate, and they were all sweet and succulent. The place inside is quite small, so many patrons were eating outside on the steps, so please be aware! A must try if you're in Guerneville :)

Yelp
Good ice cream and desserts. It's located in a refinished old bank originally built in 1921and you can see the old vault door behind the ordering counter. Founded by two sisters, they use organic milk from Straus Creamery and quality ingredients so the price is high. They also make ice cream cakes at their Santa Rosa location. Root Beer Float: Sugar Cane fancy root beer and Vanilla, our kids first time having it and they loved it. Tasted much higher quality than Barqs + Dryers. Salted Caramel in Waffle Cone: The waffle cone and ice cream were amazing. I loved seeing gooey bits of caramel running through like salty, sweet veins. I read another review and the tables near the window were also sticky when we went. Luckily we had wet wipes but it was not a pleasant experience touching it the first time.

Yelp
Nimble and Finn's is a very cute ice cream shop in an old bank building. Good thing there was a cute sign outside- I was wondering why it was packed with a line out the door. I really like how unique the ice cream shop was with lots of seating, a wine gift shop inside, and a good vibe. They are known for their honeycomb so I got chocolate ice cream with the honeycomb topping. If you like lavender ice cream- def try the honeycomb lavender. I really liked it, the honeycomb has such an interesting texture that's soft but crunchy? It was really good! Though the line was long, the service was amazing/kind and very patient. I will say the shop is pricey so keep that in mind if you have a lot of people coming in. I think it's worth visiting while being in Guerneville on a hot day!
google avatar

Daria S.

Yelp
Unique and wonderful flavors of amazing ice cream served in a cup, wafer cone, a sugar cone, or a waffle cone. The ice cream is a little bit warmer than other ice cream places. This allows you to lick your ice cream cone and never bite it! Service was helpful. The place is really spacious and has maintained the feel of the historical bank. We also enjoyed the little history nook in the back left corner. We'll be back!

Yelp
Cute spot in Guerneville that you need to come and check out. It's G-ville, so there's really nothing else left to check out other than realty offices. It's a fancy ice creams shop located in a historic bank building, you can still envision how everything looked when it was still a bank. They even got a whole vault in the back that's reworked into a photobooth. The building is shared by a wine bar and a tattoo shop. I went during a very slow morning, I can only imagine there would hardly be standing space when it's summertime. Being spoiled by Salt & Straw, the flavors here aren't too unexpected. I got a single cone with lavender honeycomb and coriander black raspberry. That honey was absolutely delicious and a mess to eat, it was already dripping as I was paying for my cone. The cone was pretty good too, very crunchy, wasn't too thick where it's hard to bite. Unfortunately the size of a scoop is a bit small for what it's worth, it felt more like a kid's scoop rather than a single scoop. Oh well.

Yelp
This ice cream and coffee shop is incredibly unique! It's housed in an old bank, and you can actually walk into the bank vault--how cool is that?! The lavender honeycomb ice cream was absolutely delicious. A must-visit! .

Yelp
Epitome of treat yourself! Every time I'm in the area, if the weather and timing is just right, I love skipping desert at whatever nearby eatery I'm dining at and strolling on over for this deliciousness located in a beautiful building that you can't miss. Line may be long and prices may be steeper, but isn't that true of everything now? Nevertheless, don't let either deter you. The line moves fairly quickly, there's plenty of ice cream for everyone, and even when busy... the staff is friendly enough to still let you sample before committing to a selection. It's worth the wait, price, and calories. I especially love the creative fusion of flavors they put together... my most recent and favorite was a rosemary peach. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
in town here at G-ville visiting family and they invited us to some ice cream. They had unique ice creams flavors located in the historic bank building. The staff was friendly an greeted us when we all walked in. we got a few cones and cups. i went with Lavender Honeycomb. OMG best ice cream i have had in years. i cant get over it and i will definitely be stopping by next time we come to town.
google avatar

Yelp
We went two days in a row for the same order: lavender honey ice cream and brown butter Rice Krispie. Both were so good we couldn't stop talking about them! And love that it's in such a cute place that is open in the evening!
google avatar

Arlene C.

Yelp
Purchased 2 coffee with Frosted Flakes ice cream with in-house made waffle cone total came to $21.00 not including tip. Definitely got what we paid for. Quality delicious ice cream. Going to put this on my favorite list when visiting this area. Customer service greeting could have been more welcoming and friendly. Still gave a tip cause ice cream makes me happy

Yelp
the gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches were yummy (very rich!), and i can't believe we went ahead and split the 8-scoop option 3 ways afterwards, but we did . it did get a little soft and melting together by the time we finished. but how else to address how difficult it is to choose between so many flavors?
google avatar

Weecho M.

Yelp
Love the variety of ice cream they have. You can't find them anywhere else. I come up here a few times a year for a vacation and I always stop by and grab a scoop
google avatar

Yelp
The husband and I were in town for a day night and we decided to explore the main streets. We stopped by Nimble and Finn's since it was pretty warm out. We didn't realize it was an ice cream place since it was located inside an old bank. Everything looks renovated and beautiful. The line outside the door was what drew is on and I must, it did not disappoint! The service, food, location were all great! I found out that the ice cream is handmade by these two women in Santa Rosa. This is a second location. We'll definitely be coming back when we're in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
My church & I love stopping by Guernville after our annual family camp on our way back from Cazadero. I always vote for us to go to Nimble & Finn's for ice cream. Love their handmade flavors! Their aztect chocolate caramel is sooooooo yummy!
google avatar

Brandy L.

Yelp
The lavender & honeycomb are the BOMB!!! The atmosphere is great- it's in an old bank, so it's fun. The staff are always friendly & very helpful when you can't quite decide what you want.
google avatar

Nadia B.

Yelp
We got in right before closing (sorry!) and the staff was still so kind and let us sample, and the ice cream was possibly the most delicious I've ever had! The space is beautiful too!
google avatar

Rae A.

Yelp
Came in after our little lazy river trip through the Russian River. There was some traffic going into the small downtown but there was plenty of parking. The store itself is pretty small, seats in the front (for one party and then like a few seat in the back) There wasn't a ton of flavors but the ones that were available were really delicious. I enjoyed the creme brûlée and the lavender honey comb but not enough to get a whole scope of lavender honey comb. Future me - they have half scoops and also their Santa Rosa location offers alcohol with their ice cream!
google avatar

Yelp
We visited Nimble & Finn's after a day on the "beach". The first thing I will say, it's kinda difficult to find if you don't know that you're looking for a bank building. Once inside it's got a neat vibe and a little seating available indoors. We were a large group, and there were one or two other small groups ahead of us. We were helped very quickly despite there only being two workers and both were very friendly and let us sample anything we wanted. There were some super unique flavors and also some more regular options.... But there wasn't quite as many as I had hoped for. The flavors were okay to me... the kids and hubby loved it of course, and my bestie wasn't interested in any flavor she tried (she's an ice cream snob lol). Overall it was a cool experience, not something I'd go out of my way to have again, but if I were in the neighbor and wanted ice cream I would return.

Yelp
Serving up good vibes one scoop at a time This magical ice cream shoppe always has a line of people out the door eager to satisfy their craving for housemade creative ice cream flavors-always a good sign! Nimble and Finn's is a sweet and charming family owned ice cream shoppe that hosts some of the most delicious ice cream flavors in town. They use local dairy sources and with flavors such as: Dark chocolate, Maple Bourbon, and Lavender Honeycomb are sure to make you want more. The innovative flavors also change with the seasons. This ice cream gem, however, doesn't just host ice cream but it also provides freshly baked pies that also change with seasons. You can't go wrong with ice cream and pie. The shoppe has a nostalgic vibe and sits inside a historic restored bank and the architecture blends in well with the decor of the ice cream shoppe. The walls are also lined with beautiful murals and menus -the perfect added touch. Service: Charming and welcoming staff that goes out of their way to make sure your visit is magical.

Yelp
Super cute and unique ice cream shop. It is located in an old bank so you can look around the building as it was left. Service: 10/10. Staff was friendly and quick. Ice cream: 10/10. Lots of unique flavors and they even offer honeycomb snacks and ice cream bars. We got lavender honeycomb and really enjoyed it! Sweet, really creamy, and could taste both lavender and honeycomb. I only got a single serving and regretted it because my boyfriend ate most of it lol :(

Yelp
My better half and I have recently relocated FT from Menlo Park/Palo alto/SF Bay Area to Sea Ranch and it was an overcast Saturday so we thought we'd head to Guernville and check out the town. This ice cream place came highly recommended so we made it a point to grab some ice cream late in the afternoon before a late lunch at the Korbel deli down the road. Great location in a renovated old bank with limited seating outside. At a distance there seems to be a rooftop deck with umbrellas but not for the ice cream shop. There were some interesting flavors, not many listed and at $11 before tax/tip for two small scoops in a paper cup not exactly a bargain. I realize this is made fresh and in small batches but isn't most ice cream not from the grocery store ? We had one with bourbon and plums and another with peaches but the flavors were muted and mostly tasted like cream with a tiny swirl of fruit jam. Tiny portion of two scoops in a cup and almost $12 all in / per cup it was nice but I wouldn't rush back. They also had some ice cream Sammie's premade in the cooler but at $10/pop they looked even smaller so we passed. Not sure if this place will be serving the locals after all the tourists head home. We appreciate the effort but kind of expensive IMHO for the portions and flavors available.

Yelp
Do not pass through guerneville without stopping in! Wow what an amazing surprise! I think EVERYTHING is made by them. Marshmallow fluff - wow! Toasted almond ice cream was my favorite. Everything is so high quality and delicious
google avatar

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Great ice cream, delicious waffle cones, friendly service, and a gorgeous store interior (it used to be a bank). I recommend the strawberry rhubarb ice cream. Will definitely come back to this shop.

Jon K.

Yelp
This cost me $7.47. I won't go back because I don't want to live in a world where this little of food cost $7.47. The attached picture was taken before I even took a bite. I thought the ice cream tasted good but I genuinely felt offended by the price and portion size.
google avatar

Nina Z.

Yelp
Yum! Would not have known about this place if we hadn't had looked it up ahead of time. It's located inside a former bank. They have some interesting flavors, all of which I loved: plum bourbon, honeyed apricot, lavender honeycomb, and whiskey butterscotch. So flavorful and creamy! Was so difficult to settle on just one flavor, but eventually settled for the whiskey butterscotch and plum bourbon. Fun tip: they can do two smaller scoops for the price of a single scoop item. Also saw honeycomb snacks, which apparently they can add on as a topping (missed opportunity) a sampler option with up to eight flavors of ice cream, and eye-catching ice cream sandwiches. Definitely a must stop next time I'm in the area.
google avatar

Courtney L.

Yelp
The ice cream is so good. I had the lavender honey comb and cherry almond fudge. Both were amazing. A must try!
google avatar

Diana C.

Yelp
Love the location in an Old Bank Building. You may need to get a loan to buy ice cream here...lol...the price is pretty outrageous even though it's pretty good. I can't in good conscience pay that again and I thought it was awful for $5 a scoop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Here we paid $23 for 2 scoops each for the 2 of us. Ouch!
google avatar

Kristin E.

Yelp
Absolutely adore this lil ice cream shop! Gorgeous building, friendly staff, and unique product. They use Strauss creamery and local produce for their ingredients. Containers were compostable. We will absolutely be coming back every time we go to guerneville and check out the one on 4th Street as well. The only one thing I could say about it was the vibe outside of the shop was a little tense. My son was a afraid to go from the car to the ice cream shop. There were some people who were yelling obscenities. I don't know what could be done about this and that's a bigger topic for a different day about solving the homeless crisis. I don't think there's much the business owners can do about that.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
Their Crème Brûlée Ice cream was so delicious, I still can't get over it. I've only been one time, but I always think about their ice cream.
google avatar

Rohit P.

Yelp
A must try ice cream place if you are in Guerneville. Tried their lemon olive oil ice cream and it was amazing. Just the perfect level of sweetness that's highlighted by the savory olive oil

Yelp
Ice-cream in a former bank building [Guerneville CA] After an afternoon drive along the Russian River Valley we decided to stop at this little town and hoping we would find a dessert shop. My sweet tooth was begging for ice-cream. I was surprised to find this little gem in a small town. The building is pretty cool and original... no, literally! It used to be the Historic Bank of Guerneville building that was built in 1921. They even have a photo of the original building when it operated as a bank. I believe there are 5 businesses that are contained inside this classic building... I didn't notice the other businesses because my eyes were focused on the ice cream. Couldn't make up my mind. The flavors were unique but I was mostly drawn to the chocolate and vanilla flavors... I chose a single scoop of the Aztec Chocolate Caramel. It had a hint of cinnamon flavors in the chocolate... decadent, so delicious and creamy. Located on Main Street in Guerneville. My only regret was not trying their pies... will come back again to try the pies! Review #2416

Flávia D.

Yelp
We had ice cream after dinner on Saturday and it was awesome! I had the vegan coconut fudge ice, it was delicious! I loved it that they had a creamy vegan option, so not only the sorbet (which also tasted good). The place looks super interesting as it is in the building of a former bank! The service was also super kind!
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
It's inside of a old bank so it's a neat ambiance walking in. Fresh and such delicious ice cream, toppings, and honeycomb. The staffs were also extremely friendly. Will def go back to Guernville for more! Oh, the best part - they have crunchy cookies!! I asked specific if they were crunchy and they sure didn't lie. YUMS!

Mimosa H.

Yelp
Overpriced. If you pick the 1 scoop, you get 1/2 a scoop. I had 4 kids with me and and I walked out spending almost $ 40. The kids added caramel, they literally give a tiny amount. I understand it is home made but I won't be back. We used to go here as tradition, we all decided we will no longer. This place is a rip-off.
google avatar

Itai V.

Yelp
This place was really good. But this time the ice cream was grainy. Lots of ice in the ice cream creating a less than desirable texture. I hope they fix it. It's a shame
google avatar

Juan A.

Yelp
The first time I came to Guerneville, I stopped by Nimble & Finn's and got a scoop of chocolate ice cream. Recently, I had the chance to come again for a second time and ordered a scoop of lavender honeycomb ice cream. The consistency of the ice cream and their choice of options are always spot on. The staff there was welcoming and let you sample some flavors before ordering. The ice cream shop also has a cool bank aesthetic, which adds to whimsy of making your ice cream withdrawal. My only regret was not ordering two scoops of ice cream, but that's a lesson learned for next time.
google avatar

Ari A.

Yelp
Such a cute Ice cream shop! I loved the Lavender Honeycomb, but could have done without the Meyer Lemon Crunch. Being an avid taste-tester before purchase has been hard for me during Covid... those samples help ensure I make the right decision. I won't let that hold me back from the rating and review this amazing ice cream shop deserves. You know your ice cream is rich and worth it when it's inside a bank vault! And now you can support Nimble & Finn's more locally in Santa Rosa, over by the train tracks. When that place is allowed to have indoor dining it'll be all the rage!
google avatar

Yna M.

Yelp
This place is so cool and super cute. I was confused at first because from the outside it looked like a bank. The staff were friendly, the place was clean and the ice cream was so yummy! Can't wait to come back again soon!
google avatar

Stan F.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite ice cream places. We travel a far distances to get here, I hate to say just to grab their ice cream lol. Oh really we're here for the river. Great quality, tasty, tend to run out quickly.
google avatar

Teresa S.

Yelp
Please have more vegan options for us locals! I'm tired of only chocolate. Take notes from screamin Mimi's in Sebastopol also very confusing that you have photos of ice cream cakes on your website but when we tried to order them the teens that work the front desk had no idea and said you don't carry them. So disappointing and misleading!

Caffeinegirl G.

Yelp
Yum!! What a great spot with unique flavors in oh-so-delicious cones. I tried the lavender-honeycomb and it was so good! They also have ice cream sandwiches which look amazing. So happy to have stumbled upon this place!
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream treats. Located in the old bank building check out when craving some ice cream. Wine shop located to the right as well!
google avatar

Ziyan C.

Yelp
I got here 5 minutes before closing on a Monday evening in July. The staff was friendly, and they even gave me a mask when I realized I'd left mine in our AirBnb! Unfortunately, due to COVID, there were no samples (understandable). Their ice cream was rich and creamy and the flavors genuine! Lavender Honeycomb - 4.5 stars Strawberry Buttermilk - 4.5 stars I also got a slice of pie from Chile Pies (they share the space): * Lemon Buttermilk Pie ($6) - 4 stars They didn't hold back on the lemon flavoring, I appreciated how tangy and sharp this was! The filling was soft and spongy, and the crust had just enough buttery softness.

Yelp
Such a cute little ice cream shop in an old bank! They have such good flavors, and the crème brûlée flavor really got me. It had nice little burnt chunks of sugar and was the perfect amount of sweet.
