Nine River Road is a beautiful nine room hotel located in Callicoon, New York; the Catskills. The outdoor spaces include a firepit, Adirondack chairs, hammock, dining tables, and a screened in porch. During the day, you’ll see different types of birds, hawks, and birds of prey that you can take a closer look at through the complimentary binoculars available for viewing as well as deer and chipmunks that frolic around the property which is just a short walk from the Delaware river. At night, the string of lights provide a warm, inviting atmosphere in which to enjoy the complimentary S’mores on the firepit and take in the stars as they seem to shine so magically clear and bright in the upstate New York sky. Inside the house, you’ll find a quaint country kitchen with a large wooden kitchen table to accommodate guests for meals and refreshments throughout the day. The complimentary breakfast consists of coffee, tea, bagels, fresh lemon water, English muffins, apple turnovers, oatmeal, assorted jams and spreads, and fresh fruit. A little smaller than I expected, but still delicious! The guest rooms all have their own type of rustic charm. My room included two cozy sitting chairs, a comfy queen bed with white linens and a round serving tray placed near the foot of the bed with complimentary water, a separate wash room, and stand up shower. In the main areas, there are plenty of couches and chairs where you can enjoy board games, some old school rock and roll and/or classical music on the record player, read a book, engage in some good conversation, or simply listen to the sounds of the crickets just outside the beautiful window walls. It’s also a two minute walk to town where there are several delicious choices for coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. Some of my favorites included Callicoon Cafe, The Kitchen Table Cafe, The Creek House Grill, and The Western Hotel. Black Walnut also looked like a great spot, which was unfortunately not open during my stay. Some of the businesses in this area are open only on weekends. In other words, I had an amazing time at Nine River Road and highly recommend it to others!

We spent two nights at 9 River Road for a wedding and we are so glad we did! We were upgraded to a king room on the second floor and it was lovely. It had a nice seating area, a desk, and the bed was amazingly comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast each morning, sitting outside, and on the enclosed porch as it was quiet and peaceful. The manager Sonya and her assistant were wonderful. We loved that we could walk into town and enjoy shopping and restaurants. Definitley a place we will visit again!

Very happy with our stay! A quick trip from Pennsylvania but still felt like a get away. Our house manager was so friendly and took the best care pampering and spoiling us with a room upgrade, friendly hospitality and the best breakfast with local farm fresh groceries. The house is so cozy and comfortable with lots of space. Big porches and outdoor firepit for relaxing. The location was right near all the shops and restaurants. A nice summer walk or a quick ride to the center of town. There is parking in town right in the middle. We will definitely be back and bring our friends!

We had a lovely one night stay at Nine River Road. It’s such a thoughtful property. The communal places include a gorgeous fireplace, cozy sitting areas, a big bright kitchen, and a lovely back porch. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. What made this place so special is the personal touch from the house manager, Roisin. Before we arrived, Roisin made sure to connect with us so we had all the relevant details for our stay, she greeted us when we arrived and gave us great recommendations for dinner. She made us an incredibly delicious breakfast the next morning and we ended up chatting with her for awhile - we so enjoyed meeting her and she really made our stay a special one. This is a gem of a property, and Callicoon is our new favorite charming, quaint town.

Had a wonderful stay at Nine River Road! Warmest welcome (kudos for warm donuts!) and hospitality from Roisin who is a gem! She is so helpful, not intrusive and so lovely we feel like we made a new friend! We have been coming to this area for decades and finding this hidden gem is a gift! The walk into town is a pleasure as are the quaint shops/restaurants/bars etc. to enjoy! The rooms are so comfortable as are the living spaces with a cozy fireplace, games and lots of places to relax and unwind. And, outside is a wonderful fire pit to enjoy s’mores right along the Delaware river! Perfect weekend stay! Can’t wait to come back!

We bought tickets to see a couple of concerts at Bethel Woods and decided to stay at a bed and breakfast. I was a little late in trying to find accomodations as most placeswere sold out. I was finally able to secure a room at Nine River Road. While the inn was a nice older establsihment with its certain charms I found our room was definitely not worth the price paid. For $319 per night we expected something a little bigger. I also was not able to ask for a senior citizens discount which many places did offer. As well, for what we paid, we expected a full breakfast and not just a bsic continental that you get at any hotel. We missed the cozy, charm of a fresh cooked breakfast as we experienced at other B&B's that we stayed. The girls working on Sunday morning were very nice so that is why I gave a 3-star rating. We left feeling very disappointed and definitely was not worth the price we paid for two nights. Our room should have been no more than $199 per night and that is being generous. We also feel we should get some type of refund back. To summarize:||Small room||Too expensive for the room size||No senior discount||Cheap breakfast-no home cooked feel

My husband and I had a good experience staying at Nine River Road. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and immaculate. Breakfast was delicious and there are many perks: bikes for use, fireplaces and bonfires, evening s'mores, lots of board games and puzzles, short walk to town center.||||It is not an inexpensive hotel though, so I feel like I must point out a few things that made our stay less-than-perfect: Nowhere to place/hang your clothes in your room (was basically living out of our luggage the entire stay), No bathrobes (as promised on the website), breakfast runs out very quickly (supposed to run from 8:30am-10:30am, we arrived at around 9:30am every morning to find most items were picked clean), and the walls and floors are very thin so normal-volume conversation can be heard throughout.

Quaint beautiful place with comfy pillows and beds. Very clean, nice sitting rooms and good view from the screened in porch. Unfortunately we are unable to take advantage of the included breakfast because we had to leave early. Just one more note, it is a little off the beaten path but that's the price you have to pay if you want peace and tranquility.

Yelp
The inn is "tired". No upkeep outdoors .. spider webs, peeling paint. Sad because it is a lovely plant. The room was decent and clean, though. Then there was the breakfast. There was very little lighting in the kitchen where you serve yourself. Remarkably, there was no one around the entire weekend. You and other guests had to forage through drawers for utensils, plates and napkins. (The second day there were no napkins so we used paper towels. Someone left hard boiled eggs, store bought mini croissants. An open dish of (maybe 10 blueberries). There was yogurt...not in containers mind you. It was maybe half a container that was put in a soup bowl. The fruit bowl held 3 green bananas and underneath were about 4 limes and 2 lemons. Not really a breakfast fruit bowl. You ate in that very dimly lit kitchen if there was a chair available. Talk about the lack of choice and worse-the unsanitary conditions. The following day, the same food was served... as if it was wrapped and then unwrapped. I'm a "grab a coffee and go" person so I wasn't so perturbed. I think the better word is that I was insulted. Not a place to stay. I promise.

Yelp
Lovely old house - sits on gorgeous property. Staff is friendly and the opportunity to build your own fire (wood stove or fire pit) is unique and fun. There are a couple of quirks: If you book through Expedia, call Nine River and make sure they have actually reserved the room. Also, if you are there are on a day when the front desk is closed, make sure you have been given the correct phone number to contact someone for assistance, if required.

Yelp
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! We came here for a weekend while we were looking at property in the area. The house looked really nice online; however, the pictures do not do this home justice. As beautiful as the house is, it pales in comparison to the hospitality we received. We had the pleasure of being hosted by Kiera. Kiera was kind, accommodating, and incredibly helpful. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The common spaces are cozy and welcoming. The breakfast spread was amazing. All of the food was locally sourced and incredibly fresh. Kiera even made sure there was gluten-free options available. I can not say enough about Nine River Road. We will be back soon!
