On the Grid : Nineteen Ten

"What is the significance of the name "Nineteen Ten" you ask? Good question - we have no idea. As soon as we walk in there we get too distracted by all the stuff we want. Need an Edison bulb? How about a reclaimed wood stool? Want to up your bottle opener game? Its the perfect place to get that housewarming gift for your artsy fartsy sibling." - Wendy Wan & Drew Ng

So beautifully layed out. The entire store in cohesive and calming. They had a Valentine's Day display when I visited. As well as make up and skin care, stationery, cards, prints, candles, planters, dried flowers, hangings and decorations. I wanted to go home with everything in the store!

Such a beautiful store! They’re got a wide range of really unique products. I’ve purchased canvas bins (perfect for toys, laundry, and stuffed animals). Their line of face care product is great, especially the scrub powder! They also have really fun cards, which are such a nice change from the regular ones found in the drug store. The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. I always enjoy stopping in to poke around and see what’s new! Buy Local!

Very beautiful store with a selection of high quality candles. I found this place just walking through the neighbourhood /window shopping and the door was open. I bought a beautiful homecoming (the brand name) candle with the scent tobacco rose. It fills the room when lit and the scent sileage is strong even when it's not. It's worth dropping by if you're looking for a really nice gift or just browsing.

A beautiful little spot and such pleasant service! I was fortunate enough to receive a gift card to spend here for my birthday, which brought me to the store for the first time. I got a lovely assortment of items and will definitely be back, in particular for their amazing selection of greetings cards!

The store always has a really great selection of nice chic intrend home and stationary goods. I love the that they make an effort to bring in items from local brands. The sales assistant was very spacey, never asked me if I needed help finding something - I was actually there for something specific - and she even rang up my items wrong. Completely missing two things so I thought I was getting a good deal, but nope. Really amazing must visit shop if you are on main street.

Beautifully curated collection of home goods, cards and body products. There is always something new to appreciate and I love being introduced to new makers and creatives through this shop. An especially great place to find thoughtful, handmade + high quality gifts. AND the cards are pure gold.

Walked in one day after eating lunch on main street and was pleasantly surprised! Bought a salve, a journal and some nice pieces for my condo. I love that it's all hand crafted and unique. I highly recommend checking it out ! Staff is pleasant and friendly.

My favourite place for home goods and gifts! Amy and Jennifer are the loveliest folks. Love their curation from fantastic local artisans. Would definitely recommend as a top small shop in Vancouver.

Yelp
While sauntering along Main Street this weekend I came upon this little gem. Nineteen Ten is a boutique filled with many unique and interesting items for the home. These include, but are not limited to, cards, rugs, workshop cage lights, wooden stools, cardboard house kits, prints and cushions from local designers, welcome signs, and various other useful and beautiful items. So the next time I am desperate for a gift for the person that has almost everything I think I will head back here. Plus they carry a small assortment of Christmas ornaments (my kryptonite) that I can ogle.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised when I saw this place had opened up right within spitting distance of my apartment. They have tons of unique home decor items and gifts that are reasonably priced. Rugs, Eames replica chairs, wooden bar stools, lighting, cards, plates and cups, cute little boxes and the cutest accent pillows... I really want one of those pillows! I only wish they had moved in 6 months ago when I was furnishing my apartment from scratch.

Yelp
This is a fantastic store with a beautifully curated eye. The store is open, with white walls and dark wood bookcases and tables. All of the items have been wonderfully curated items from a good number of different sellers and makers. From candles, cards, to vases. This is definitely one of my favorite stores in Vancouver. If you are looking for a gift for a family member, a friend or yourself, then this is one of the first places that you should go to, to find a unique item with a modern feel. The woman that was working at the counter was incredibly friendly and approachable, the prices were reasonable, and the selection was fantastic. It was as if someone made a giant Etsy Treasury, and threw in a good number of the best things.

Yelp
Nineteen ten just opened where Legends used to be. It's a very cute space, the size of Much and Little but more like Old Faithful with its rustic brushed metal dining chairs and lighting fixtures. The lights are definitely the main focus, right now anyhow, and they are gorgeously unique, not over the top expensive. The service is quietly friendly and thoughtful. My favourite item was a bird smoke alarm in a wooden frame that would look great on any book or kitchen shelf for 80 dollars. It is definitely a welcome addition to the reiley park area with its gaudy antique shops and stupid expensive "Scandinavian" one (you want how much for that uncomfortable old chair?). They are currently having 10% off first purchase sale, so hurry on over! (13 of 30))

Yelp
What a great little store! Lots of fun stuff, and you never know what you might find. It's the perfect store to browse for a gift for someone when you're not quite sure what to get them. They have cute wooden toys and fabric rattles, etc. for babies (and we got a great, fold-up cardboard house on sale there, too), and intriguing purchases for adults, too. We got a good living room rug there -- needed something simple and not outrageously expensive, for life with a kid. Their lights are beautiful; I just wandered in last weekend and now am obsessing about a hammered iron / brass hanging lamp that I saw. Also, their candles are a great gift -- half the price of candles at Much & Little and made in BC, to boot. Their holiday ornaments are also nice -- tasteful but still a bit quirky. They also have nice letterpress cards. Nineteen Ten and Walrus are my two go-to stores in Vancouver when I want to browse or look for a fun gift. Both stores are great. Nineteen Ten has more home furnishings, though -- so more temptation for me!

Yelp
Great course selection. I took a few felting course hosted by Warm and Drift. Plenty of nice household items. Reasonably priced. Owners are lovely. I like buying gifts for people here. Would recommend!

Yelp
I am sorry to be the first to write a negative review of this local establishment. It is a cute store with many nice locally made products. One Canadian based product caught my eye. It was the Wildcraft Calm and Cleanse Makeup Remover. I wanted to give it a try because of the unique and organic ingredients "Camomile and Honey." For makeup removers - I need it to be able to remove waterproof makeup because that is what I wear all the time. I asked the sales associate specifically - "Does this work to remove waterproof makeup." She gave a super enthusiastic "YES." One of her friends or co-workers uses it all the time and it works for her. Also it has various oils in the product thus rendering it good for waterproof makeup. She was confident about the product so I purchased it amongst other stuff from the store. I tried it for the next two days and it did not even mildly remove my waterproof makeup. In fact - I painted on a line of my waterproof eyeliner on my hand and used this stuff and rubbed super hard with cosmetic pad. The eyeliner stayed as bold and clear as ever and NOTHING was removed. I went back two days later and the SAME female sales associate was there. I tried to return the product but was told plainly that "All Apothecary items are Final Sale" which was printed on my sales receipt. I said it didn't remove my waterproof makeup and she replied, "Well that's good to know." ??? She did not bother apologizing or even looking sympathetic and basically said nothing after that. She did not offer store credit. While I am out only $18 and it will not put me into bankruptcy, I was left with a ill, annoyed feeling for this establishment. The sales lady there either does not know their product or will say anything to get a sale. If she did not know - she should have said she was't sure and stressed these items are not returnable. I will not come back to this establishment again for this reason. I take ownership for not asking in advance whether these items are returnable so I didn't make a stink but she shouldn't be telling people "facts" about the product that she clearly didn't know about just to make a sale and then took no ownership about it after the fact and left the client high and dry. Won't be coming back here. Get better training for your employees and better customer service.

Yelp
Wow oh wow! I never would have known about this place had I not taken a workshop here recently. Nineteen Ten was named by owners Jenn and Amy for the year in which Coco Chanel opened her first store in Paris. Serendipitously, 1910 was also the same year in which Main Street (on which the store is located) was first established. I just loved that tidbit. The store is beautiful, I love the space. They specialize in rustic and neutral home furnishings, decor and accessories. They also have a great selection of stationery, including cute prints and cards for all sorts of special occasions (weddings, babies, birthdays, retirement). They sell some beautiful light fixtures, I'd kill to have in my own home! I would say prices for most items are on the higher side, but honestly anyone who receives a item from this store as a gift should be so lucky! I felt like every item in this store was curated with a lot of thought and purpose. I wanted to buy everything. This store is a must-visit when strolling on Main Street whether you're shopping for yourself, a friend, or just in the mood to browse.

Yelp
Fantastic shop. Stunningly curated with excellent friendly staff. Went in looking for a calendar (in April) and was treated with so much respect and assistance in where to go. Found myself listening while also being drawn in to the amazing things around me in store. Definitely will be back for those special unique home and gift ideas.

Yelp
I particularly love the originality of the items here. The owners and kind and helpful. Some great ideas for your nook!

Yelp
Love this very thoughtfully curated boutique. Many items are locally made or originated. Visiting from the states, I had a lovely chat with a very friendly employee. The goods are also very reasonably priced and there is a considerably large selection of items on sale. What prompted me to write this positive review was the honesty and integrity of the staff. After checking my receipt a few days later, I realized I was overcharged by $5...I went online to check my credit card statement and saw that the $5 had already been refunded to my card. My initial fear that I had been duped as a tourist turned into appreciation of the fact that she realized her mistake and fixed it immediately. (unfortunately, where I'm from, this doesn't always happen!)

Yelp
This place has a lot of small knick knacks and home décor that leans more toward the hipster feel including some greeting cards and mason jar inspired items. I spent a decent time browsing. This actually isn't my first time in this place as they've been around for 2 years, however, they had something that I saw in the window that I was interested in and wanted to browse for other inspiration

Yelp
One of my favourite shops in Vancouver, Nineteen Ten ALWAYS has exactly what I'm looking for - whether it for myself, my home, or a gift! The owners Jenn and Amy are really nice, and the shop is welcoming and full of well-made, beautiful pieces for every style and budget. Definitely worth a visit for a true Vancouver shopping experience!
