Ningaloo Discovery Whale Shark Tours

We had the absolute pleasure of joining Ningaloo Discovery’s Whale Shark tour on the catamaran on April 24th, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! A special thank you to Derick, who went above and beyond taking care of our parents. They were quite nervous about getting in the water, but Derick’s patience, encouragement, and genuine care made all the difference — helping them feel safe and confident enough to swim with the whale sharks. We are so grateful for the support he gave them throughout the day! Bella and Tash were also absolutely fantastic – warm, professional, and full of positive energy. They created such a welcoming and fun atmosphere, making sure everyone on board felt comfortable, informed, and excited. Their enthusiasm for what they do is infectious! The whole crew were brilliant. Even though we can’t remember their names, the skipper and deckhand were fantastic too – incredibly friendly, professional, and made sure everything ran smoothly. You could really tell the whole team loved what they do, and it made the day that much more special. We can’t recommend Ningaloo Discovery highly enough. Thank you again to Derick, Bella, Tash, and the entire crew for making April 24th a day we’ll never forget!

We had the best experience with Ningaloo Discovery. We did the Whale Sharks tour and the Sunset sail and can definitely recommend them both. From the experience to the incredible crew, both trips went off without a hitch and we have the loveliest memories from it ☺️ Zach was our skipper on both trips and a great laugh. Tash our photographer and I’ll let her pictures do the talking and the rest of the crew, I’m sorry I forgot names but they were all amazing. Would 100% go with them again!

Fantastic day. Great crew 6 opportunities to jump in and see the whale sharks and snorkelling reef areas before and after that. What an amazing day! Very knowledgeable crew and helpful especially in the water. I thoroughly recommend this tour. Thanks for a trip of a lifetime!

We had a brilliant trip with Ningaloo Discovery yesterday. We saw 2 whale sharks together at the same time, plus two other whale sharks on the same trip. We also saw Orca whales from the boat. All up a huge, memorable experience. The crew was very friendly, competent and went out of their way to make it a memorable experience. Also great that professional photos are part of the package. We went out with Zack, Sam, Nicole, Grace and Sana on 1/4/25. What a day!! From the moment we were picked up from our resort, our excitement levels were through the roof. We were a group of 11 (5 adults and 4 kids swimming plus an adult and child observing) and the crew did everything they could to make our day amazing. Nicole’s tour guide info while we drove to the boat ramp was great, and Graces driving was excellent (no motion sickness for us!). Once we got to the boat ramp, the crew were very clear with their instructions and what we needed to do as well as how to keep us all safe. We were picked up by Zack our skipper who was an absolute legend. Once on the boat we met Sam who happily got anything we needed (like an extra set of fins when we broke our own pair!). Once we were out on the water, the crew were great at making sure we had everything we needed and had us all organised for our whale shark swim. We did a quick snorkel on the inner lagoon to test our gear and have some photos, and then we were off to find some big spotty fish! We had 4 swims with the same whale shark, all before lunch! It was the most incredible experience! Sana was a great guide and communicated so well. The kids absolutely loved it and Nicole’s photos captured everything so clearly! We had a snorkel on the outer reef in the arvo because the conditions were just too good to pass it up. We saw turtles, reef sharks, fish, incredible coral, it was amazing! Lunch was delicious, and the casual ride back to shore was wonderful. It was the most incredible experience and we are so grateful for the passion and enthusiasm from our crew. Thank you all so much for making our one-in-a-lifetime experience so enjoyable and memorable. I cannot recommend you all highly enough.

Great crew - especially Tash, Rosa and Darcy. Derek worked very hard also. We were just really unlucky with the weather - far too choppy and rough. The first snorkel was beautiful and the first swim with the whaleshark was a decent view but over too soon and then once I got seasick - the rest of the day was pretty much over for me. The crew worked tirelessly despite the unfortunate windy weather and really took care of my mother which I truly appreciated. Food looked good but I couldn’t eat any of it once I felt unwell sadly and it was still very choppy at lunch time. The fruit at the end once in calmer water was exceptional though - thanks! Minor feedback - the boat ran out of tepid drinking water just after lunch and that can probably be avoided next time by stocking more than 15L of water for 25 people during approx 8 hours in the sun with ice ideally. I was dehydrated after being sick so that didn’t help. The photography seems to be variable based on other reviews but maybe that was the weather today. Suggest stagger the photographer with both groups? The final swim with the whaleshark I wasn’t up for so stayed on the boat and saw a nice outline from the surface. My sister went in for her best swim but sadly without the photographer so that might have been planned better as she was with the other group. Overall I can’t fault the crew or the company for the unfortunate weather but I was disappointed in my personal experience - anyway c’est la vie! I’m glad we did it and weather unpredictable so I guess I’ll just have to try again one day - with travel sickness tablets - and only in predicted perfect weather!

We did the Whale Shark Dive on the catamaran, and it was the perfect day! We were lucky enough to see multiple whale sharks and get to swim with them! We are very fortunate to have ability to get in the water with these animals and Ningaloo Discovery tours made sure that the animal always came first! The whole day was incredibly well organised, and everything you needed was supplied (including professional photographs!). Highly recommend for a whale shark tour!

In June, we were told that you’ll pretty much see whale shark, and they were right. We had four opportunities to swim with whale shark (they said the typical was three, but the whale shark were really cooperating - someone we ran into who had gone with a other group had seen three), and we also saw a dugong and the biggest manta ray I’d ever seen. Rosa our photographer was so friendly and warm (she even noticed when i needed a wet suit part-way into the day because i was freezing and gave me another opportunity to get one), and Nicole our swim leader took awesome care of the whole group, keeping everyone in the right place in a very kind way. Wonderful team - the captain and the guy spotting whale shark were also engaging, helpful, and nice. Unlike other places, every size of the pics sent by the photographer can be downloaded for free, and Rosa sent over 300 images of the day. Rosa was also a marine scientist, so could answer any question we had and gave us very interesting facts about whale sharks on the bus ride there. High-quality staff hired by this company.
